16 tb worth of storage in my synology network drive. I use this to store al my music - 5000 cd's worth of AIFF info for my serious mancave sound system. I will update the review later but to date no issues.

The disks themselves have been running fine for more than a few weeks. The install into a Netgear NAS was relatively uncomplicated. However, the disks came without any mounting screws, which meant a trip to a brick & mortar store to buy screws.

I am using this disk with Synology 1812+ Network attached storage system. This disk is very silent. While working does not become very hot.

If you are going to put HDD in your NAS, these drives are highly recommended. I have read reports of these drives being DOA, but I bought 4 and they worked great. Amazon packed them securely and no problems. I love this NAS. Great product.

This hard drives compliments the QNAP NAS really well. I have a couple QNAP NAS for backup and file share purposes and use these drives. QNAP has a SMART HDD test that gives you the status of all these hard drives. You can also check the bad blocks so its nice to see that this hard drive is supported.Overall no complaints

The criteria for a good NAS drive is well met with this product. They run cooler, are much quieter, and have a realistic price. I haven't had them installed long enough to comment on their longevity, but since they've passed the one week critical barrier, I'm sure they will continue to give good service for many hours. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend any of the Western Digital Red series to my friends. Good job WD! Now if only they were made in America!

So far I am very pleased with this HD. I use it in a Pivos AIOS media player where heat & vibration can be an issue in the crammed space of a Home Theater setup. I love the capacity and it has worked as advertised so far (about a month)

Its hard to write a review for has because they are always great until it goes out on you. I bought three of these drives for my home storage. I have them in a raid 5. I bought them for this reason. My last raid had a HD go bad a d if the wd red lives up to the what wd says they can do then I will expect them to last much longer than my standard drives did.

WD never disappoints me. 3TB for a great price. I'm using this drive as part of a backup system. Time will tell if it holds up but ever WD drive I've owned surpassed it's expected lifetime. But I can tell you that it's quiet and fast.

Great price for a 2 TB drive! This may not be the fastest drive but I wanted a drive to be used for backups in a desktop system. The drive is quiet, cool, and draws less current than most other drives.

I installed two of these into my ReadyNAS Duo. As expected, they mounted quickly, and installation of the X-Raid worked well. Supposedly they are optimized for NAS use. Since the price was only a slight increment above the standard drive, I am willing to take the manufacturer's word.

I purchased 2 of the 3TB and 1 of the 2TB WD red drives. Installed them, formatted them, and copied data to them. They all work fine.

Great product. Called the exclusive 800 # hot line for a technical question, never got a real person to talk to. Called their normal 800# and got through immediately and my concern was resolved quickly.

Purchased two of these for my Mediasonic HF2-SU3S2 ProBox and they are solid, very quiet and cool. I am running in the ProBox with the fan on lowest setting or off completely with no issues.

I bought this for my Synology DS 213 NAS, thinking it is better to spend more to get a real NAS drive. Well, of the 2 I ordered, one had write errors the very first day.I would expect more from a product that is higher priced simply on the promise of being better quality. I went back to the WD Green drives. Their failure rate may be similar, but at least you are not paying more to get a failing drive.

Put 2 of these in a home server. They are quiet and fast. Only had them for a few weeks so I am not sure how long they will last, but at least they have a 3 year warrenty.

I have not performed any speed tests on but they seem quick. They are definitely quiet and run cooler (about 10-15 degrees) than my other hitachi drives in the system. Been running for 3 weeks with no issues. (knock on wood - haha)

Western Digital finally put out a great product for the home/soho Network Storage Devices out there. The Green drives were a train wreck. The Red series is a fast drive, for only a 5400RPM platter speed, and has the necessary drive attributes for 24x7 operations. I would recommend this for long term storage where critical speed and performance are not necessary; if those are, go for the RE4 drives.

not as fast as some other WD drives, but I like the fact that it is rated 24/7 and that means the drive should be a better drive even thou it has 2 years less warranty

This drive runs cool. About 82 degrees in a nas. The other Hitachi drives are running at 93 degrees. It is not as fast as the Hitachi drives but cooler usually means a longer life. The speed difference is only about 7 percent. Livable. I will be buying these drive to swap out my 2 year old hitachi drives one at a time.

I used a couple of this disk to my Synology diskstation. To evaluate a hard disk and its reliability take longer, but I can say until now that they were pretty well packed and easy to install. It seems that they comply with protocols that make them easy for Synolgy to manage.

Bought 4 of these drives, using them in RAID 10.Re-build the RAID (currently 2.6TB) takes only about 2hr 45mins.Transfer speeds are nice about 60-75Mbps which is acceptable since they are only used to store data.

All 3 drives work as expected in my 4 bay network attached storage array. Unlike my Win7 PC, I am able to see all 3 terabytes of the hard drive likely because the array uses a linnex type OS.

I had the western digital green drives in my NAS and I had an issue that scared me so I bought these. I have had no problems so far. I wish they were a little cheaper but they are worth it. I will be buying more!

These are awesome. I have them configured in a Raid 5, and they are working great. I had some WD Green, and continued to have issues, but these have been perfect.

I have 6 of these in a raid configuration and I have hammered them for a couple of months now. All is good.Not sure why Amazon are offering 2 year warranty for $11.99 when these disks comes with a 3 year warranty.

I have been using a pair of WD Red drives in RAID 1 configuration in a Synology NAS for a month now, and they perform flawlessly. They are highly recommended for NAS applications.

If the 1 Million hour mean time before fail rating is accurate, then you really have to be crazy to buy the cheap drives rather than spend $50 more for a Red drive. looking for bargains is really not a smart activity when buying hard drives, when you consider how much data is at stake, and how much work is involved when a drive goes bad.

I ordered this drive as an internal data back up drive for my system. I like that it is a very quiet drive. It is almost as quiet as my SSD. My read/write speeds aren't near what the max is though (I am lucky to get half of the 145MB/s max), but much better than my USB 2.0 drives and other SATA drive.

Purchased 5 of these for my NAS, all are running smooth and well in a RAID5 set up. Normal running temp looks to be 89-99F, great price for what you get. SATAIII, 2tb and runs perfectly in a NAS, no errors on any of the 5 drives so far and they have been running for a month and a half straight.
