Right now it is perfect.It works fast, doesn't make too much noise(i can hear it cause my case y open)The guys at Platinum Micro were very helpful providing assistance when the USPS screwed up with the time.

I have always trusted WD in past and bought this without a second thought. So far it is working good apart from minor sound when the drive is spinning which is very common for these kind of drives. I have windows 7 installed and it is lightning quick in my case.

Needed a replacement hard drive for an external backup that died. Only beef all be it small is the drive is a little loud compared to the drive it replaced. no biggie for me.

I received this in September. By November 23rd it had failed. I took care of this like it was fine china. It stayed in a safe and only came out to back up my desktop. I have had several problems with WD hard drives lately. The quality has gone downhill. This is the last WD product I ever buy.

This is my 3rd 1 TB hard drive from W.D. and I have to say I'm happy with the speed and durability. I'm using them in my probox to stream movies, music and backing up files. I've never had one fail. Thanks W.D. for such a good product. Would recommend this drive.Update: Just bought my second 1tb drive in 2 weeks and have to say I'm tickled to death 11/6/2012. Speeds are amazing.

WD drives are the best, period. The caviar blue is the midrange line and is a very good drive. I prefer the Caviar black, however it is more pricey and for everyday use they last and last.

I bought this drive to help extend the life of an old CentOS x86 Athlon XP box that I use for an rsync server. I have used other WD 500 so on gig SATA II drives that had a jumper on the drive for backwards compatibility to the older SATA ports on my board. No such luck with this one. I need to grab a PCI SATA III controller card now to make this work. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain...

Purchased to replace a failing RAID drive. This drive when in quickly, is quiet and once the raid rebuilt it seems to be co-existing with the other drives just fine.

I have 3 of these in a Raid5 array. They work fine, but they're pretty loud on spinup and disk i/o.Then again, I do beat the hell out of my array..so It's fine!

Does the job and is fast with the 6GB/s sata iii controllers. Only con is that it not quiet when read/write. You can not hear the disks spin but you can here that peculiar HD sound. Has a 5.9 windows performance rating.

This drive is quiet and the sequential performance is very good, though the seek time is average.I get about the average advertised 150 MB/s sustained. It is 190 MB/s on the outer part of the platter.From HDtune the average seek time is 20ms.Pretty great for a moderately priced 1 TB spinner!
