I am very pleased with my 2TB WD internal drive. The product came ready to plug and play. I was able to go right to the western digital web site and get full comprehensive instructions on installing it. It was up and running in minutes at which time I promptly began to fill it. It has now been more than a few months since I installed it and I have had no problems with it. I have most of the space still available so I don't beleive that I have neerly pushed its limits.

its awesome no longer having to periodically go through and delete things i would prefer to keep. easy set up, im running win 7 64bit. i updated all my drivers and bios before it came, so i dont know if that helped or not, but it plugged up and was recognized with no issue. full space, not two partitions like some people were saying.

I purchased two of these two file servers I have on my home network. The drives are fast, quiet, and seem to be reliable. I have been using WD drives for several years and I have had very few problems with them. For the price they cannot be beat.

I needed a large drive to use for Windows 7 backups and this unit works perfectly. I installed it in a StarTech.com 3.5in SuperSpeed USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Enclosure w/ Fan. The drive was easy to install in the StarTech case and has been working just fine.

Was purchased as a WD MyBook Essential with USB 3.0. Received I/O error, thought it was USB interface. Tried via USB in 2 different computers, didn't work. Disassembled unit and tried HDD via SATA cable. It would make clicking sounds for a while and then become silent. Computer could not read HDD at all.

So far i just got the HDD, cant complain, works fine so far but this is day one and as i know HDD lots are problematic, but all my WD drives have always lasted with no issues........and i am hoping this one drive is no different ............it is so silent i never figured a HDD to be this silent .........amazing

Ok so I took, about 4 hours to install this, because basically my old Asus P6T Deluxe Motherboard had problems detecting it. It kept being detected as a RAID item (in BIOS), and I couldn't change it, no matter what. So then I switched the cable input, and then it suddenly appeared. The board appears to have some RAID specific connections that I didn't know about. Then in Windows, it wouldn't let me initialize the disk. After several hours of online searching, changing the BIOS storage type option to "AHCI" did the trick. (If you previously installed Windows 7 with the IDE storage type option in BIOS, then you have to do a registry trick before changing it to ACHI in the BIOS so it won't BSOD once you save the setting and restart to the OS). I finally could access and initialize the disk, the storage amount appears correctly. I'm going to be using this HDD to store my video projects, so I'll update if stuff occurrs. So far, despite the initial installation troubles, everything is looking dandy.

Ran out of storage, thought this 2 TB unit was an excellent price for the upsized storage space to be obtained from a quality manufacturer. Delivery was quick, installation was easy (was concerned as there have been difficulties registered with some earlier versions), existing harddrive files moved over without a problem. To date the unit has worked as specified.

I loved it and already going to need a newer one in the future yet the only problem with it that is slower than others although my PC is very good gaming PC for even Battle Field, if you went AFK and came back to play a video you will have to wait from 3-7 secs because it will load etc then play... not nice at all..maybe it is the size or not enough RPM to get rid of this problem

Pretty good so far. Make sure you partition the hard drive as GPT and not MBR. SInce MBR has limitations up to 2tb and does not recognize the whole 3tb drive.

The price is great, and the seek times are nice. I got the Caviar Green because it had less power draw than some of the others out there. There is nothing like having virtually unlimited storage. I dont delete anything, and there is always room for more. Save the hassle and dont get a smaller hard drive.

I already use Time Capsule, but I wanted another backup—a belt-and-suspenders approach—for my primary 1TB boot drive. So far, using SuperDuper, this drive is exactly what I needed and is working flawlessly.

Haven't used yet, but looks good, I've had good luck with Western Digital hard drives. This seems foolish to me to have write more than necessary for review.

So I've only actually used this 1 time. I bought 2 for my raid 1 external hard drive.Amazon had them on sale for 89.99 couldn't pass that up. Both seem to work just fine. Price was fantastic. Setup was simple. if I remember correctly there is only 1.9TB of usable space. 100-150GB are inaccessible, which was more inaccessible space than I was expecting, but standard on HDD's.

There seem to be a lot of mixed reviews on this product. I've owned many hard drives and the truth of the matter is that any of them can fail. I received this product about 3 months ago now, and it's been working like a champ. I have no reason to believe that this line is any worse than any other, and for the price, buying two to back things up isn't a bad idea.

Was just looking for a drive solely for storage purposes. Didn't need to access the drive so I wasn't looking for anything fast. Been about a year and the drive works great still. No issues.

Not going to beat a dead horse, but these drives do work very well and are fairly reliable. More reliable than the WD Black drives! Would definitely buy them again (Just dont get them for a RAID system- I have them and since the disks always spin down, it takes 30 seconds to get my RAID to wake up sometimes...

Two of four drives that I have purchased have failed. This is quite unfortunate and makes me wonder about the quality control of the drives. No doubt they are quiet and cool. But when you have to scramble to recover data from unresponsive drives and then encounter issues with the backup drive as well, it really makes you want to buy ruggedized equipment for critical storage.Not the greatest experience in this case.

It is a little big tricky to get it to work when you're using an "old PC", it show a 746Gb HDD, you need to download and update the SATA drivers of your motherboard (I had to update the Windows 7 x64 bits default SATA drivers).But once you get the right drivers, it is quiet and the HDD doesn't get hot, not even with several actions like moving, copying any kind of files during hours!!
