I bought five of these to put into a client's USB3.0 class Drobo S. There really isn't much to write. They went in, they store data. Exactly what I need. These aren't the fastest option, but they're a great choice when capacity at a great price is your goal, and the Drobo S isn't exactly a speed-demon device anyway. Extra performance in this particular device would have been largely wasted.

Pros - This drive is awesome. Tested for over 24 hours without a hitch before format. Getting file transfer speeds between 130 - 115 mpbs.Cons - none yet.Other - Drive requires an advanced format partition. Must use xp jumper to use without proper setup. Advanced Format means the drive needs 4k sectors in order to read/write without errors. The drive partition must be aligned to a sector divisible by 8.Running - Ubuntu 11.10GUID partition tableEXT4 partition typeAligned to 2048

This went into old Gen 1 Apple Timecapsule to replace built-in 512gb disk. Everything went without a hitch, works much faster than original, less noise, less heat. Couldnt be happier!

I put one of these in a Synology NAS and use it primarily to backup thousands of photos and videos from my Drobo. Not much to say except it works great, is fast, and is easy to install.

A perfect replacement and upgrade for the 2TB Apple Time Machine. Factory hard drives on older Time Machine's were apparently NOT a long-life item because mine died after only a couple years. So, rather than forking over the mega-bucks again... I decided to try replacing the HD. It was much simpler than I thought and with photo instructions I found online... replacing the 2TB drive with 3TB was "easy button" easy! This Western Digital drive is known for its quietness and it lives up to the reports. And quietness is important to me since my Time Machine has been moved from another room and now sits just above my head in the book shelf on my desk... and only if I listen very closely can I hear any sound! So, HUGE storage and SMALL noise... a GOOD combination!

AS with most orders from Amazon this item was delivered on time, or sooner, and was the easiest installation of a hard drive I have ever made. Using this one in my Mac Pro with great results.

I use 4 of these hardrives for storing large photoes and home movies. They aren't fast, but they are fast enough to play back HD content, which is all I need.

I bought this 3.5" 1TB SATA HDD for my ZMODO Security DVR, and it works PERFECT!! It fits perfect, plugs in right, and was a breeze to install. The HDD is working good so far...and was a bargain for $100, no tax, & free shipping.

I've been saving my DVDs to hard drive so I added this to my media server. This drive is very responsive despite the slower RPMs. I've been able to stream a movie from this drive while copying a movie to it without any problems. I've been using Western Digital drives for the past 10 years in all my system builds and they've been great drives, I couldn't recommend them more.

I bought four of these to upgrade our system. They are working right along, as expected. I guess when it comes to disk drives, the proof is in their longevity, so that remains to be seen at some point in the future. Get back to me in two or three years to see if they pass the real test of time. However, they came out of the box and started working without defect, so we are off to a good start.

Received in secure shipping , using Win 7 64x Home Premium, no problems installing or using this drive. For the last month have set Windows on a 500 gb C:\ drive & have installed all my programs that would allow it on the WD 2TB . So far so good & according to system info WD runs 20 degrees cooler than my other drives. Also b4 the bright idea to separate Windows & my program files, I used WD 2Tb as a primary HD , C:/ Windows installed on it & running without a hitch. Very happy w/ the drive,Final Answer !

I bought this drive in September from Amazon. I came back today because I would like to get another one. I will not be buying another one at this time because I only paid 79.99 3 months ago and for some reason it is double that price now. I guess prices are inflated for Christmas time.Great HDD but totally not worth double the price I already paid for one.

The Hard Drives are delivered in time and they are o.k. up to now. They run in a Synology DiskStation DS1511+ the Installation and Operating was without any problem.

I have never had any issues with my WD Green drives and have used them for a recent WHS 2011 build. I have seven internal WD Green drives and they all work without issue. I planned on purchasing several additional drives for backing up my server but ever since the flodding in Thiland the prices has more than doubled.Guess I will have to wait until the supply channel is oncreased again and the prices drop to a more respectable price. I can't justify the price of these drives knowing what I previously paid.

Not too much to say about this.I received it timely.It has been in my SavedItems list for a long time now waiting for it to dip below $200.It is a very cheap yet reliable 5400 rpm drive that is perfect for recording/watching tv on my htdvI already have four 2TB versions of these and have not had any problems with them.I installed it without any problems in my Dell 9100 and it is working well.

I currently have 13 of the 2TB models, and 8 of the 3TB models in my home server. Absolutely no problems from any of them. I do full read/writes to the entire drive for error checking, and then check SMART results before using. 50TB of data and 0 bad/pending sectors is impressive.I'm not sure how so many people are claiming they got 2+ bad drives in a row. It has to be user error or they were extremely unlucky. My suggestion is to make sure you are ordering from Amazon and not 3rd parties who tend to package hard drives incorrectly.

A few months ago I bought a 2TB WD Black SATA III drive for $149.I cannot believe the high prices now, this is what I paid for this drive, I needed RAID so I bought 2.I must admit it is a little slower than the Black but it works pretty good and doesn't get as hot.I will buy the Black again but not for that amount of money, but I might buy the Blue in front of the green!

One couldn't be accessed. Another accessed at rated speed but couldn't be written to. The last accessed at 1 GB but read data did not match written. I asked that they be QAed before shipping, but; it appears that can't happen.

For a storage drive (I use it for my downloads and backups), this is a very good drive. Haven't had any issues with previous WD products in terms of drive failure, so that's a good sign. This probably isn't the fastest in terms of data transfer rate, but unless you need to copy hundreds of gigabytes of data, this really isn't a problem. Fast installation and initialization.

Some reviews talked about compatibility problems so I checked the Netgear forum for these Caviar drives working with their Ready NAS Ultra 2 plus and looked ok. Installation, formatting, and configurations were straightforward. The two RAID 1 drives spin up from power-down in about five seconds which is fine considering the power savings I get, and backup/other applications work with this delay fine. Highly recommend the drives but make sure your devices/environment are certified with these drives.

I backed up the old drive, turned off the computer, removed the old drive and installed this one. Since I was doing an OS upgrade, I restarted with a boot from the OS DVD, and voila, I'm in business with a Windows 7 OS. Easy. The computer immediately recognized the drive, which operates quietly. I'm not geeky enough to test drive speed, but it all works fine.

These used to have a 3 year warranty but effective 2012 they have a 2 year warranty. WD has apparently lost faith in their consumer level drives so why should I continue to trust them with my data?

I've had this drive less than a year & use it in a dock for data storage. One day it just quit. Won't spin up. No sign of impending doom. Data now inaccessible. You've been warned.

Great product!! completely silent, incredibly fast. It does exactly as the product description says! So far so good!. The delivery came exactly as expected as well. All in all I-m pretty happy with the product and the service. If anyone need more storage for their PC, this is the Hard drive to have, at an amazing price!

This 3TB drive is not compatible with Windows XP SP3, It shows up as about 750G due to OS addressing issues (thank you microsoft), not the fault of the drive. Upon further research it looks like all 3TB drives will have this problem.

Product arrived quickly. My PC did not have a spare SATA power cable connection. Had to order a SATA power Y splitter. After receiving the power cable, installation was easy. The additional storage is great. BTW, drive does not ship with mounting screws, hence no 5 stars.

This WD20EARX drive is GREAT! I have a couple dozen of the WD20EARS (SATA II) drives in several server boxes, and they all work fine, except that their average throughput is about 55 MB/sec. This WDF20EARX SATA III drive averages at least 80 MB/sec, and is even much faster than that for smaller files. I would heartily recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for cheap, reliable and FAST data transfer.

This was to replace a 1TB WD drive in an HP desktop after it crashed. The new 2TB runs better and has yet to fail. So far so good. Also the extra 1TB of space is nice.

Have been checking prices on a 2TB WD HD the last couple days. I was seeing $125-$135 at NewEgg and TigerDirect as well as Amazon which I thought was a bit too high. Just for S&G I thought I'd stop at the local evil empire (BestBuy) this afternoon and found this exact same 2TB WDC WD20 EARX Hard Drive for $99 ! Wow.

The WD Caviar Green 1 TB worked well at first, but suffered mechanical failure too soon. I found the longevity with the Caviar Green hard drive not great. WD was helpful in replacing the hard drive.

I bought this drive after having 2 Seagate drives go out on me. This one works great even on the 6G/bsec controller. Thanks also to Acronis for their excellent backup software that allowed me to copy my "stuff" right over from the other, failing, drive I was replacing.

I installed this drive into my HP Desktop a few weeks ago and it's been working like a charm ever since. I don't have enough technical savvy to comment on its performance, I can only say that it worked when I plugged it in, it gives me more storage space, and is pretty much invisible, which is a very good thing.
