My family uses the PS2 alllllllllllll the time, so the memory cards definitely get a work out. We have discovered that memory cards made by Sony are the ones that work the best and last the longest.

I've had my PS2 for over a year now and have played with several different brands and varieties of gamepads for it, figuring that Sony probably didn't have a monopoly on good style and solid construction. Seeing the other pads available for a considerably lower price than the Sony, I bought a few and played with them.After months of heavy gaming with SSX, though, they broke, wore down, buttons stopped working, and the controls became rather unresponsive. Disappointed, I went and grabbed two fresh Sony pads and the difference is amazing. The quality is really far superior to any of the other pads out there in terms of strength, comfortability, feel, and durability.The only complaint I have is that the edges to the directional pad and button pad are the tiniest bit too sharp -- several hours of sliding your fingers across them quickly will give you some serious blisters -- I actually built up callouses during my most intense periods of gameplay! I haven't seen a gamepad that's more comfortable, however.The short of it: get the Sony controllers. Don't bother with the others; you'll just get frustrated.

You just spent [money] on the worlds most poplular advanced console on the market, the Playstation 2. Why shouldn't you or your son have the offical and best controller on the market? There's no reason not to! This controller is very durable. It is also one of the most comfortable controllers in the gaming market. The controller feels natural when you play your games. To top it all off, it is made by Sony, so you'll know that it is of extreme quality. I have dropped mine dozens of times, from about 5ft. I have never experienced a single malfunction with this product. There is one drawback however. The controller will develop white marks around the edges of the analog stick. This can be removed by using Windex and a Q-tip. You may also be dropping your jaw at the price. Well this controller is the better value. (...) Now he finally learned his lesson and ended up purchasing the Sony Dual Shock Two controller. So as you can tell ths is obviously the better deal. I hope you end up purchasing this product. I would highly recomend this to anyone.

I only have one DualShock 2 controller (the one that came with my Playstation2 that I got when it came out.) The controller works great; I can especially feel the each buttons' analog capability in Gran Turismo 3. The harder I push "X" to accelerate, the faster I accelerate. The built in rumble works great, and you don't hear it vibrate, you can only feel it, unlike with the 3rd party DualShock 2's. Also, I was a hardcore PSX gamer before PS2 came out, so I am already well adjusted to the layout of the DualShock 2, as it is identical to the original DualShock. However, the one problem I have had is a slight (but annoying) problem in the joystick hardware. I have have had my controller for about 10 months, and I don't play very often (about 2-5 hours per week on average.) However, the left joystick feels loose. I mean, the actual plastic piece that you put your thumb on can rotate 360 degrees. You may not understand what I mean, but don't worry, it doesn't affect gameplay performance. In fact, it only bothers me because when I pay ... to get the top-of-the-line product, I don't want a simple little ... thing going wrong. Oh well...it doesn't keep the product from earning a 5-star rating from me, and I can easily reccomend this controller over any 3rd party product, no matter what the price.

I recently purchased a PS2 sometime in January. I also purchased InterAct's 16MB memory card. The card didn't work with any games I own, even after I used the Memory Manager disc. I returned the card and purchased the Sony brand 8MB memory card. I am totally satisfied with this memory card. It is fast, reliable, and the PS2 works great with it. I don't know why I bought a third party brand card. Nyko also makes an 8MB memory card that I have heard works very well with the PS2, but buy the Sony one and rest assured that you won't have to go through any trouble with it. This product is GREAT!

The fact is, although the shape was not modified from the original DualShock (Sony figured, "Why change a popular, perfect design?"), most of the innards are completely different. Also, 'Analog' for the DualShock2 not only describes the controller sticks, but also applies to all of the buttons. This means the buttons are pressure sensitive and actually have an effect on game play. This will especially show for games like GT3, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Final Fantasy X. (Example: The amount of pressure you use to press a button dictates the speed of you drawing your gun in MGS2.)You will NOT get the same effect by using a PSOne DualShock.I have not had any bad luck with this controller, and I've owned as many as 3. This controller is far better than the controllers for Dreamcast or Nintendo 64. It is also VERY durable. I've slammed my personal controler into the ground (carpet lined cement) MANY times after frustrating licence tests in GT3, and the controller remains in perfect shape. This controller is far better than any third party fodder.

With very few changes over the PS1 analog controller (pressure sensitive buttons and different color) this is still the most comfortable and easy to use controller in the market, its size is perfect for both hardcore grown up gamers and for kids. My 7 year old son has no problem using it. I have had the opportunity to use N64, DC, some from Microsoft , and some of 3erd party controllers, they all vary in shape and size, but yet none of them provide all the good features that the sony Dualshock controller provides. It is clear to me that Sony has spent a lot of time in research and development for this product, well good job!!! Go for the best and don't waste your time and money buying another product, this one is worth every penny...

A very simple product. It's an 8 megabyte memory card for read/write capability for the Playstation 2 (PS2). This is an essential item for the PS2. When I initially got mine, I didn't buy one of these. A brain lapse, perhaps, but it was really annoying to have to throw away any progress I made in a game because I didn't have one of these.This is definitely more expensive than memory cards for other systems, but it is legitimately so. Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast cards have far less capacity to save game data than this. They describe them as "pages" rather than a standard measurment as MB (megabyte) is. But just to give you an example, NFL2K1 saved season take up 90% of ONE Dreamcast memory card. Madden on the PS2 takes up 300K out of the 8,192K available on this Sony memory card.When I originally ordered this, I bought 2 of them. I thought it would be just like the Dreamcast and N64 and that I'd need several. Not even close to filling the first card up so far with saved data (in some cases up to 8 separate saves in one game) from 8 different games.Aside from its performance, the card itself is small, light, and sturdy. There is even a place to put a label on.

Playstation controllers hav always been the best, then they made the Dual Analog. I honestly feel a bit weird going back to the oiginal. When PS2 came out, they made a Dual Analog 2. The analog sticks have been perfected to the perfect stiffness and buttons are now pressure sensitive.Everything about this controller is perfect except the price. 35 bucks is a lot to pay for a controller. Unfortunately, the only alternative is a 3rd party controller. Some of them are ok, others just plain ..... I try to avoid them all because they are VERY unreliable.

This memory card should not be called an accessory because it is an essential. It will cost you a few extra dollars, but it will allow you to enjoy your games more fully since this device will enable you to go more into depth and get as much as you can out of each game. You do not have to restrict yourself to just 1 memory card per game since it hold 8 megs of memory (this is a whole lot of memory). The only games that will take a good chunk of that memory are sports games if you run a simulated season (they generally will take up around 1 to 1 1/2 megs of your memory). Besides that, if you are not into sports you could save files from a small library of PS2 games onto one card! Another great aspect is that the card is efficient. It is very fast, meaning that you will not have to wait long at all in order to load your saved files, save new files, and delete ones that you think you will no longer need. This is a must have if you have a PS2 because without it, you're missing out on a true gaming experience.

There are a lot of PlayStation 2 controllers out there, and because the PS2 is backwards compatible with PlayStation, there are even more. However, none can even come close to this controller. With its analog buttons that can tell how hard you are pressing, to it's dual shock emitters, nothing can top it. The analog buttons come in especially handy for sports and fighting games, and the shocks are very fun to play with. Even though there are controllers with other features on them, such as wireless and different shapes, they are not as good as this one! Plus, they are not guaranteed to work perfectly, unlike this one, because they are not made by Sony, and some aren't even endorsed by Sony. Only buy this controller! It's the best!

The other reviews here are confusing so let me set it straight. You can use your PS1 memory cards in the PS2. You can only use the PS1 memory cards to save PS1 games that you are playing in your PS2. You can't save any PS2 game data to a PS1 memory card. Now, on to the card itself. It's quick loading/saving and Sony isn't going to [take advantage of] you like Sega does with their VMU's. Saying that it holds 200 blocks of memory then you get NFL2k1 and to save a game takes up 190 blocks. Well, looks like you won't be saving anything else on that card. Not the case with the PS2 Cards. Madden 2001 only takes up around 300k of save space. Of course future games could take up more, but I don't think we'll ever see a season save in Madden taking up 7 megabytes. :)

When magazines described the Dual Shock 2 as having all analog buttons I sort of expected a mushy button feel so you knew how far you were pressing, etc... Instead, the buttons feel like normal PS1 Dual Shock buttons but depending on how hard you push them it can give a different reaction in the game.This is a kind of nice feature since the buttons feel the same as the old PS1 controller but it has an extra level of sensitivity. The only time it is a pain though is if you just tap it sometimes it won't register.All in all, I would say buy the Sony controller and skip out on the 3rd parties. All the people I know who have bought 3rd party controllers sold them and bought Sony within the next day.

This memory card is a must if you intend to save games. It's very expensive for the low storage capability, but unfortunately there isn't any other alternatives right now. ... I already have it half full and only saved a few games data. 4 games to be exact. Dynasty warriors 2, Madden, SSX and NHL takes up 2 megabytes by itself. You will easily fill this card up in no time.

Although almost exactly the same as that of the PSX/PS1, it still is excellent. Its design makes it fit perfectly in many people's hands. A Dual Shock feature adds "shock" features in games that support them, by rumbling in your hands. Two analog sticks are great for accurate gaming, and Sony even stiffened the sticks to increase precise movements. Finally, Sony has added analog type features to ALL buttons. In games such as Ridge Racer V, you can push harder or lighter on buttons to specify your movements. For Ridge Racer V, the harder you pres on the accelerate button, the fater you go, etc.All in all, a VERY good and VERY worthwhile buy.

ok i know that this contrller is almost the same controller as the psx dual shock but it does have some differeces. well the one i am going to mension is that when you push the buttons it measures to see how hard or soft you are pushing them. I think that if you have a ps2 you should buy this controller. on my regular playstation i had six controllers, the only one still working is the sony brand dual shock, so i will never buy another third party controller for anything. dont live by my mistakes and do yourself a favor and buy this one.

This is not an optional piece of hardware. If you want to get anything done with a PS2 game, you have to have a PS2 memory card to save that game's data. Contrary to popular belief, PS2 games are not compatible with PSX memory cards. Bummer, eh? Of course, your old PSX cards work with your old PSX games, but it kind of screws up the whole idea of backwards compatibility, no? Anywho, this is a very good memory card nonetheless, with blasting load speeds and a whole lot of space. Its definitely a must buy for a PS2 gamer.

People may look and say why does Playstation2 use the same controller.Well believe it or not its the same design but the Dual Shock2 has 256 sensors Built in.Which means if you are Playing a Racing game the Harder you Press the more accleration you get.Also the Dual Shock 2 has more Grip and it is Very Light.

Okay. I don't know where some of these people are getting information, but the PS2 is NOT coming bundled with a memory card, and you will only be able to use your original memory card to save PSX games. In order to save PS2 games, you have to have the new 8MB memory card.

This has to be the best controller. it has tons of levels of pressure. so if you press hard you go fast, and if you press soft you go slow. plus the buttons are the same as they have always been so you don't have to relearn another controller.
