Have returned as faulty. Amazon have refunded but I am not happy that prices for replacements have now shot up above the RRP, so I am down to one controller until another retailer has them in stock or Amazon and marketplace sellers stop ripping people off.
I contacted Amazon for advice/support via callback, the agent sorted everything out with no fuss at all, even though I had recycled the original packaging it came in, I popped it into a jiffy envelope & dropped it off at my local post office with the QR code I was emailed for return, free of charge.
I received a replacement controller a day later so I cannot fault Amazon at all for their support & service in getting this sorted out.
The replacement rose gold controller has been working fine with no problems so far, it looks really nice & is doing the job as intended. My daughter is very happy with it.
As a side note I'd like to confirm that both of the controllers I received are 100% Sony original products & not fake.
good luck
Great gaming experience.
Only downfall is the so called ps 4 pro games are having an output of 1080p or 1080i upscalled to 4k. It's better than 1080 bit not meet my expectations.
Console came with non Indian power plug.
Packaging was good.
I have purchased three of this since I bought my PS4 and it is the FOURTH one to have an analogue drift fault.
After the 2nd one broke I made sure that I looked after it carefully; not dropping it, banging it, or applying hard pressure directly to the sticks themselves. After all the average price of these (including offers) is around £40 so I dont want to be hitting the £200 mark!
Despite this, the sticks still become intermittently unusable. This one, most recently purchased, started erratically drifting to the left after just 10 hours of gameplay! Can you imagine how annoying this is on a FPS? I'm GM on overwatch and had to stop playing because this was causing me to look like a drunkard mid game.
I am now selling my Ps4 and and buying an Xbox. Never had any issue with Ps1/2/3 controllers but this is a joke. Search online for this issue, it's not just me.
It has Sony stickers on the controller but I believe this to be a fake controller as I don’t think Sony would release a controller of such a poor standard.
Edit1: the controller seems to be calibrated differently as far as sensitivity and sound goes. If I plug an official brand PS4 controller in I can hear everything just fine, I plug this one in and it blows my ears off
Edit2: doesn’t matter to me at all but the packaging came bashed about and slightly broken
Final edit: controller doesn’t work at all anymore, turns on but won’t do anything and can’t even turn it off. Been told I can have a refund and keep the product. So far I’ve not got my money back
it still has the same problem with the option and share buttons being to close to the trackpad but that's a niggle not a dealbreaker.
all in all a very nice controller, so why only 4 stars? at £75.00 it's overpriced but I needed a decent replacement as mine would no longer charge, half an hour of gameplay and it was dead, this little beauty after one-day solid gaming still at full charge and that junkyard USB port replaced with something much more sturdy.
until now the PlayStation controllers have always felt like toys this feels like an adult gaming companion.
3 months in now and the L3 analog button is unresponsive. I tried using the fix method shown on the sony playstation website. Resetting the controller and reconnecting it to my ps4 hasnt worked.
I do not know how to get it replaced, the Orders section only shows me 3 options.
1 is to write a product review
2 is to ask for product support
3 is to buy again
Wouldn't recommend buying it to be honest. I remember owning the ps1, ps2, ps3 and their original controllers lasted for many years on end.
I had fallen for a fake controller in the past, I also have legit ones, so I had a few to compare with.
Firstly I looked at the sticker on the underside. All seems to be correct. No spelling mistakes, no stretched logo, no issues with spacing, all of which can be seen on the fake controller. The sticker is flush, with no bubbles, it is in the correct position. Overall, it seems real so far.
Next I checked the buttons, making sure they weren't sticking out too far or too little. I checked they made the correct sound and did not stick. All seems fine to me.
After that I checked the triggers and sticks, both are smooth, they dont stick or move in a jolting manner. I then checked the overall quality of the build, there are no jagged edges, the thumb sticks are the soft rubber as expected.
I then weighed the controller against the fake controller and the real. This controllers weight was more in line with the real than fake, which weighs less than the legit controllers.
For my final check I stuck on an online multiplayer game and got stuck in. The controller allows for smooth playing and works perfectly.
I do believe what I received to be a legit SONY controller and I am happy with my purchase.
The ever increasing price of console controllers should be one of the biggest controversies in this industry, from the point of view of the consumer, and yet nobody ever brings it up. For this to have cost £50 and lasted less than six weeks demonstrates either poor build quality or a lack of sufficient stress testing.
I'll be returning this as defective and requesting a refund. Tempted to go with third-party controllers from this point on. At least you're not surprised when they turn out to be shoddy.
