I had doubts whether this thing would stay in my ear when I first looked at it, but it's so light it works great. Comfortable, never falls off, and less bulky and obtrusive than the ones that wrap around the ear. The sound is perfectly clear, and people at the other end hear clearly as well I'm told. The carrying case is actually a battery that recharges the earphone battery...a very convenient and ingenious design. The Bluetooth connection to my cellphone is rock-solid and has enough strength to allow a very generous distance from the cellphone--it starts crackling a bit if I forget the phone and walk into another room of the house. Button controls are well thought out as well.I can't think of anything that would improve this bluetooth earphone.

This headset works great. I purchased it because you can connect it with 2 handsets at once. I won't be able to try that feature until the beginning of next year but so far, it's working perfectly with 1 handset.

I'll keep this brief.Other headsets I've used: Several cheapos from woot.com, Jawbone (original), Invisio G5, Jawbone Icon, Jawbone Era, Plantronics Voyager ProPROS1.) Comfortable2.) Battery life seems decent3.) Sound quality out of earpiece is fine4.) Handy base station for charging5.) Mostly performs like it's supposed to, i.e. doesn't display any kind of buggy behavior (my biggest critique of my Jawbone headsets)CONS1.) Mediocre range2.) I get lots of static when I move around with the phone (tried it on a Palm Pre and a Samsung Galaxy S II), both with the phone stationary and with it in my pocket3.) My callers complain of static and background noise4.) Proprietary (i.e. not mini or micro USB) charging cable5.) A bit clunkyCONCLUSIONWhile this may have been a quality headset when it was released, it's simply outdated now. You can do better for the money. I have snow tires on my car, and the noise is loud enough that I can't use this headset while driving because my callers complain of the racket. My cheapo (<$15) headsets perform equally well as this one.As of this writing (11/21/2011), I recommend the Jawbone Icon with Jabra eargels as the go-to headset. If you want to throw more cash at it, the Jawbone Era (also with Jabra eargels) is a better headset but perhaps not worth the premium price unless you plan to spend quite a lot of time using it. The Plantronics Voyager Pro is also a significantly better headset than this one.Chris

I love this product. This is the second one I have bought. After several years of use the ear rubber part will degrade and fall off. You can glue it back on, however this product is cheap enough to buy another and enjoy a new one. I love the clarity it offers for the price. It is also compact and easy to wear for long periods of time. I have forgotten I had it in my ear several times.

01.06.12Amazing shipping time, still cannot believe it arrived so quickly, less than four days. I just received a ticket for not being hands-free so very very happy to fix that problem with this new device. I'm giving it a four stars because I expected the "new" item to be in the original packing, which is wasn't. It arrived without a charge, as I expected, and now charging it. Will let you know how well it works in the next week or two.01.08.12Love the way this device fits in my ear, for that 1-star. As I already mentioned, when it arrived it did not look new. The description does not say reconditioned, it reads "new". The device arrived in a small zip-lock type bag. The instructions looked worn, not crisp new, pages with creases and folds. The device itself, although looked clean, did not look "new". Hard to explain--it was clean, but there were scuff marks on the front of the device.I paired with my Sprint Galaxy 4G, "every" call I made--loud crackle took over the conversation. The phone was in my pocket and device in my ear. I then tried again with cell on my car dashboard, same. Disappointed it did not work because I really liked how the the ear piece fit and was optimistic by the other reviews.I will return it and look for another

This is the second Plantronics Discovery headset that I have owned. I have owned this one now for a year (I didn't write the review 3 minutes after receiving it). Several things set it apart from the rest;1) Good sound and volume2) Good noise cancellation3) The charging case is the best thing since sliced bread4) Good battery life, even after a year of rechargesAnd the icing on the cake; this weekend I left this in the pocket of my shorts and threw them in the wash. I realized my mistake after I retrieved the load from the dryer and found it in the bottom.It still works like new (and is very clean, by the way).

I have a penchant for loosing blue tooth ear pieces as they are so small, and I have to take them off several times a day to use my stethescope.So I have had more than several. This one works very well, but is extremely tuff. I left itin my shirt pocket and put it through the wash cycle and through the dryer last week. I figured it was a lost cause, but connected it to the charger and the lights came on, next morning it worked just fine!I still have the problem of misplacing it, but am very pleased with it. There is no ear hook to hold it in place and I have dropped it several times, the trip to the ground and sudden stop does not seem to hurt it either.OH!, by the way, Excellent sound and voice transmission.

This bluetooth fits perfectly in the ear. And when it is connected it is fantastic! Unfortunately with my iphone 4 it cannot hold a connection even when/if the phone is 2 feet away. Constantly goes "lost connection, phone 1 connected". After 3 days I got rid of it and bought a cheaper one which works great but doesn't fit as well.

so far so good! The only thing I can say about it is that it has lost signal at short distances, but that's only once or twice, and nothing major, if that wasn't going on, I would make this a 5 star product. Great battery life and clarity, and that's what I wanted and you really can't beat it for the price.

I am not a technical specs person. I am a user who always prefers hands free usage for my phones and is VERY particular about the sound quality when using these devices. I have used plantronics phone equipment (hands-free)for more than 13 years. This headset is great for my usage. The major problem I had after a little over a year was the soft gel-type portion of the headset that goes over the ear came apart from the hard plastic. I am not an abusive user to my electronic equipment either. I like to keep my items protected so they will remain in good working order. To fix this problem, I did a very very thin coat of crazy glue. I never had any problem with the functioning of the headset itself. I have had it now for about 3 years. Looks new and you can't tell I used the crazy glue!Noise canceling/Clarity: The noise cancelling is great. I do live in the windy midwest. The people whom I normally talk to on the phone could not tell had switched to the headset from the handset when I first switched to the 520.Distance: You can not go far from the phone without static. BUT...I live in a 2 story home and can go up or downstairs away from the phone and the headset will function as long as I am in the room beneath or above the room where the phone located with very very little static. I could still hear the other person on the phone and they could hear me. However, I did get alot of static as I walked further away, but it became less and less as I entered the area above or beneath the phone's actual location. (Note: Just tested this again as I am writing this review.) 95% of the time I have the phone close, 3-8 ft away when I am using the headset without any problems.Comfort: The fit is very comfortable on the ear and in the ear. I often forget I am wearing it even when not on a call.Charge: I have gotten atleast 4-5 hrs.My usage: 7 days a weeks. I do let it completely discharge 90% of the time before recharging to keep the above average charge life.Overall view: I gave it 4 stars for the functioning of the headset only due to I could not discount the fact that the ear holding portion came apart. This is a very important part of the headset. However, I will not replace this headset unless it no longer holds a charge or becomes lost. I wish they would make it with the portion that goes over the ear one continuous piece. Then I could have a back-up for this one in the event it needs replacing. If not, I could always buy another one of these and have the crazy glue handy just in case, smiles. It is a reasonably priced, comfortable, and great working headset.

I purchased this item for my dad b/c he's a truck driver and they aren't allowed to talk on cell phones anymore unless it's handsfree. Well, when we tried it out, it worked great in the house and outside. But when he was on the road, there was loud static sound. The noise was not being cancelled out. It was very hard to hear him. Don't get me wrong. This worked just not inside the truck. Not this specific one anyway. I contacted the vendor and they agreed to take it back for a full refund. They answered me the same day I emailed them and had my refund within a week. I would buy from them again in the future.

I have had this headset for about two years now and am quite pleased. I purchased two more units to give as gifts to my wife and father-in-law. It would have gotten five stars but I struggle a bit trying to attach charging cord while also holding the dust flap out of the way. Removal of the dust cap was necessary. Plug orientation can be challenging in dim lighting. Otherwise an excellent device. Works well coupled to several different phone makes/models. Easy to insert into ear, comfortable, and quite secure.

I received my first Plantronics Voyager 835 a few years ago. It supposedly had been refurbished but wasn't and I returned it quickly. Then I got a new one, and it worked well till I lost it a few weeks ago. I have used a couple other corded blue tooth type things which did not work as well. I hear poorly, but I am able to hear with this bluetooth. The people hear me OK even when driving my noisy old Chevy Luv pickup or when I'm out in the wind. It fits OK and stays in my ear. It works 30+ feet for me, depending on if I get behind my car changing a tire or something. It has a long lasting battery. I did find the one I lost after I received this one, and it still had power. It can stay on and work for at least a few days, and I can talk a few hours, at least, on it. Only one time I actually heard a beep and realized it was going dead, but it has good battery service. I'm pleased with the new one I bought. It was advertised and priced as "used,good condition" but it surely looks and works like it's new. I probably ought to buy another at the low prices and keep it around because they have worked well for me.
