i just got these in today. I like how they feel and look but they have no bass at all. My 5 dollar skullcandy's have a better bass response. For the price, its good to use for internet calling like skype but not for gaming or listening to music.

I need a good headset for gaming and skype. This week,when my last headset quietly died, I got this one.I have had it for one day and it is going back. The weight of the cord pulls the pads off your ears, which might be good (except that then you can't hear) because wearing it for more than 5 minutes will give you a blasting headache from the stress and pain on them. If you get this one, as long as you're out anyway, pick up some extra strength pain reliever. You're going to need it.

It's a little tight on the cranium, even after prolonged uses. The sound is pretty good, but these are definitely not noise-isolated. The mic is really good and that's what got it 4-stars in my book. I use it to talk to my wife on Skype and I don't game online. So I cannot attest to it's usefulness for gaming. However, it works well for an inexpensive headset.

I have owned this headset for over 3 years. Hands down it is the best headset I have ever owned. Headsets that I have bought in the past ranged in price from $20 to $50 and would typically last about 1 year (being used nearly every day). When I bought these I was concerned at first due to the $100 price tag at the time. However, it turned out to be a great investment. I think they are worth the money at $100 so, at just over $50 (as of 12-2-10) they are a steal!Pros:*Durable. Has survived 3 moves, several drops, and a handful of dogs tripping on the cord.*Very long cord.*Inline Volume/Mute.*Cloth ear covers. They are very comfortable. I have done 12 hours sessions with no discomfort.Cons:*Microphone can't hold it's own weight. Very quickly the microphone will just fall to it's lowest position.

For 25 bucks, there isn't a better headset for gamers on the market.Let me point out that I've had both the "Open Ear" AND "Closed Ear"versions of this headset, and there's really no difference, so gofor the cheaper one.Until you are ready to spend over $150 on a headset, don't waste yourtime with anything else.

I ordered two, one for me and one for my friend. This is a little small for my head even though it adjustable. But it fits perfectly fine with my friend. The mic does not work after 6 months for me, but mine friend's mic works fine. Not a bad deal considering I only pay 20$ for two. But you should be very careful with the volume if you plan to use it in the office. Others might be able to hear you.

The Headset is amazing! I had no idea but you can use it for your mp3 player as well! So soft and confortable. the only problem is that it gets a little hot in the ear area but it is well worth it! 9/10!

I'm currently in Afghanistan and while my laptop has built-in mic, the quality in my room sounded like I was far away so I wanted to try a headset. I bought these for skyping with my family back in North Carolina and (contrary to some reviews) I LOVE the VERY long cord, it aloows me to move around and talk at the same time.Now for the 4-star portion. They are comfortable and I realize that when wearing a collapsable headphone, there is going to be some loss, and for me, it's the tightness at which they hug my ears. The inline volume wheel is AWESOME, but I find that if I press them a little tighter to my head, I acn hear soo much better. Now, I wont discount the fact that I just turned 40 having SOME impact on it :) but a little more snugness would be great. But as far as the quality goes, I could NOT be happier!One addition that WOULD be nice...a small carrying bag and tie wrap (ok that's two additions) to help with ensuring the ginormous cable doesnt get entangled in my travel backpack, cause you know us geeks...well prepared and cables/gadgets galore in our trusty backpacks.Great job Plantronics!

Just what the review says, I've got no gripes about the headphones themselves, that would be, if i could still use them. The plastic on the band snapped, So i can't really use a pair of headphones that don't stay on my head.

Overall these is the worst headset I've personally ever owned. Comfort is a big issue with these. The close ear part of this 'may' be decent for a child or teenager, but for an adult male they are way too small and crush either your top or bottom earlobe... any amount of time over 30minutes will result in painful ear pain. (physical not auditory).The sound is really good and they're a snap to use.

These are solid, good sounding headphones, and the mic folds up and out of the way when you are not using it.The ear cups are comfortable, but the material might wear after a while.While it is hard to wind the cord around some phones, you won't have that problem with these.The full-cup design blocks outside noise really well

How I use these:Gaming for 1-2 hours at a time, working from home for 6-8 hours at a time and listening to music for a couple hours at a time.My notes on these:-Impressive build quality. These feel far more sturdy in your hand than most headphones out there.-Tight fit at first, but it quickly loosens. Not an issue at all after a couple hours. These do expand quite a bit and based on my giant head, should fit anyone. The giant ears attached to the giant head fit comfortably inside the ear wells, too.-Hidden mic boom is AWESOME. It's usually the first thing to break on my headsets. Keeping it hidden when not in use is great.-Cord is VERY VERY thick. Looks and feels very heavy duty. I would not worry about rolling over the cord with my chair's wheels. I stepped on the cord of my previous set, pulling the microphone wire from where the wire splits into mic and headphone plugins at the PC. There is about 2 inches of lead wire on this pair (versus about 10" on the previous set). With the thicker cord and less lead wire, I don't see these ripping apart.-My previous set of Plantronics fit great, but the headset boom became loose very quickly. It does not appear this headset suffers that same flaw.What could be improved?-The volume control dial could have a raised nub to more easily turn the volume up and down. It probably won't be a huge issue for most people, but I'm seriously considering super gluing something a little smaller than a pencil eraser to it.::::::::UPDATE 2/25/2011::::::Oddly, these broke in an unexpected place, right where the over-the-head part connects to the ear cup. I'm not sure what caused them to break initially, but the ear cup with the mic boom is now completely disconnected. About 16 months. Not bad, I suppose.In the end, the volume control wasn't too big of a deal after a little time getting used to it. The ear cup size seems small, so it does get uncomfortable to wear after a few hours.I've updated the rating to reflect the update, but left the original text untouched.

First of all, I had this headset for about a week, used it almost everyday.I'm a casual gamer who plays Starcraft 2 and FPS, most of the times with friends on skype, and I fell in love with this product. Headset is very comfortable (it hugs your ear), mic is clear (others report no statics or disruption from me on skype), sound quality is solid (I can hear every footsteps of enemy), and it doesn't cost you an arm.I strongly recommend this product to everybody, and those of you who are considering paying $100 ~$200 for a gaming headsets, don't even think about it, this headset has same or even better quality.

Best headset i've owned thus far, broke them after a year of use and dropping almost daily (wasn't careful with them), replaced them with the plantronics 655 usb which were decent but broke them after tripping on the cord and snapping the connector. I intend on replacing them with the plantronics 777 (and being more careful). I've owned several companies headphones including bigger names, and these are still the best. I recommend them to anyone who is an avid gamer, likes to watch movies, or listen to music on their pc. They are also a LOT more affordable than your other name brand company headsets. Also remember NASA uses Plantronics

Wow these are a great choice for a gaming headset, they sound great and the mic is clear. Like I said, I love em! So worth the money, you could go with more expensive headsets and still not get the quality of these. If you are thinking about buying, I tell you stop thinking and just buy!

The headphones are good for sound and people can hear me very well. They are alittle uncomfortable for me but each person has a differnet size head that is for sure. For the money a good buy at a great price.

As a gamer i wanted a headset with great sound and something that is not too expensive,so i decided to go with these. The headset arrived 5 days later i plugged it in to my Xbox 360 as a sound receiver instead of my monitor speakers (i use my computer monitor as my screen with a little help from an HDMI to DVI wire for the video, and a male 3mm to 2 female stereo adapter for the sound). MAN was i amazed on how great the headset was, i was playing Modern Warfare 2 and you can hear giant explosives with huge bass as well as footsteps from like 50 feet away (By the way i used a 3mm female to female adapter to plug into the 3mm male to 2 female adapter by plugging the headset into one end of the female and the male to female to the other female end). I guess you can say the headset gave me a greater edge as oppose to regular speakers. Overall i can say nothing negative about these headset except for the plastic box it came with, that thing was way too tight >.<. So if your looking for affordable headset with superior sound i suggest you get either this or the Open ear Plantronics gaming headset as i heard that was very impressive as well.

I was really excited getting this headset but when the product arrived and about to use it, the microphone didnt work! I tried on 2 different computers and still didnt work. I ear piece felt comfortable but that didnt stop me for returning this product.

Perhaps because of the DSP chip in the dongle, this worked perfectly with Dragon. Unfortunately, the cheap flimsy plastic used for the headband snapped fairly quickly just below the pivot for folding. Attempts to repair it failed utterly, so I used it for a while with the broken plastic digging into the right side of my head and the right earpiece dangling. Eventually, I gave up and just cut the wire to the dangling earpiece.Now, after a few months of use, suddenly the microphone stopped working. The dongle has also gotten somewhat loose. Also, like some of the other reviewers,I never understood why I needed 10 feet of cord, and even after I tied part of it up it was a nuisance.I finally gave up on it and decided to go with a wireless headset. My first try was the [[B001SEQN3U:Plantronics Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset]]; it was not a success -- see my review.I'm dictating this with a [[B001W1VDHU:Travelite HS-1000W USB Wireless Headset]]that arrived today, but it's already far superior.

Nothing to complain about, cant beat them for the price, they sit real comfortable on the ear and blocks out most sound from your surrounding area, not the best headset, but for the price there great

I think I've looked at 50 headsets of microphones and these are the only ones that I could find any review on that did expressively talked about speech recognition.ease of use is exactly right I plugged them in and ran them through check your audio system signal-to-noise rating with the USB I received 16 reading when I removed the USB and just jacked them and I got a rating of 22. My spouse had some good ones but not as good as these. The headphone are excellent to but in my case I found if you have the phones up very loud the microphone will try to print what's coming from the headphone no problem for me I just turned way down. Durability I give it a 3 star they philatelic it so I'm careful with them within their best to add or speech recognition. Comfort they're very comfortable I sit at this computer for hours and these are the first ones that don't heard my head or my heirs. Speech recognition they're doing very well on that score to I'm very happy and I would get another pair if I or my dogs Brooke these. Be good consumers so read all the reviews especially the bad ones sometime they tell you a lot.I did the review with Dragon naturally speakingm and I don't pronounce words all that well either so this microphone helps a lot. if you choose them I hope you like them as I do.

This headset was the right price for what I needed for PC gaming/talking on aim/Skype. I wanted a quality headset microphone that would make me clear to hear to people.The mic quality is GREAT, and so is the sound quality of the headphones. The sounds are all clear and I had no hissing or anything. The headset feels very sturdy and of quality construction, especially the fabric-covered padding. I love how the headset folds up and away if needed. You can bend the sticking-out mic part forward/back towards your mouth, and then the joint at the head does up/down, so it's a lot more precise than the loosey-goosey free wire-bending boom mics. It basically gives me the steady-placement FEEL of a hard plastic fixed position mic...only this one IS adjustable.My only complaint is the headband was TOO TIGHT - it pinches my earlobe tops against the padding to my head. I've been leaving it on a box to stretch out the plastic of the headband. My head is small by human standards and my ears are not large either - so I don't know how other people feel about the tightness.For wearing with extended times of playing online games.....it was not comfortable unless stretched out (after being "de-tightened" by being left on a box to stretch it, it is good though).Also the plugs on the headset that plug into the back of the computer (this is an analog headset which is good cause I have many USB devices and I need those ports open) are not color coded - they are both black and look the same (they have tiny engraved symbols for 'line out' and 'mic' on them). One being RED would have been nice so it's easy to see which is which - cause not everyone can easily see/get to the back of their computer. Mine is a large desktop tucked aganist a balcony edge....I have to lean way over and half blindly plug them in. Though this is easily fixed with some paint or color tape (already did that so problem solved) the designers should have thought of that I think.

The item was good -- microphone worked fine, audio worked fine. The audio was fine in quality. However, this model has broken on me time and time again. Currently using electrical tape to hold my model together until I get a new set. My brother is doing the same thing to keep his together. In the meantime, it's hanging sort of uncomfortably off my ear.
