works great with our Onkyo stereo receiver. remote sync cord lets us only have to use one remote to turn both receiver and cd changer on. Lets you change out 5 discs while one is playing. I would recommend this cd changer

After ordering the disc player came quickly. It was easy to set-up and works wonderfully. A great product. Probably will get later an amplifier.

Love this 6 Disc CD Player! I had replaced this one with the old model that I had. I haven't had a problem with this machine as of yet.

I've had this unit for more than a year and it has performed flawlessly. Changing discs while the unit is playing is easy. The random feature works very well and keeps the play list interesting. The only minor complaint I have, and it is minor, is that sometimes when the unit shuffles it can take 5-10 seconds to select the next track.

I attached it to my house intercom and it does exactly what I wanted it to do. I can now play 6 CDs without having to change each CD.

As usual with devices like this made in the great Junko empire you get a very good product and infuriatingly tiny controls. I can;t see them. Doesn't the Junko empire know about color buttons large enough to see?

Easily installed, connected to. ZVOX sound box , which separately doubles as the flat screen sound system, for me is more then adequate sound through my listening area.

I probably played all together 20 cds on it, and now it doesn't work anymore. The buttons are frozen, the remote is useless for this problem. I had it in the shop a couple of times, the guy said he can't fix it, something wrong with the circuit board. My advice: don't buy it!

I thought this would be a good cd player, but after less than two years of service it broke. Of course it is out of warranty, so... on to the next one. When did ONKYO begin to manufacture these mediocre products? No more ONKYO for me.

We had used the cd player to our music system; which is about 12 years old, so much it finally quit working. So we bought another one - it is very easy to use - love that it holds six cds. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys great music.

I purchased this cd player from Amazon, used. I have in the past, been very happy buying some electronic products used, so I took the chance. I have been using this player for about 2 weeks and I am very happy with it's performance. Unlike the Teac cd play I have been happily using for the last 10 years, this player is very quiet in changing disks. The price was half the already low Amazon price, so if it lasts as long as the Teac I am replacing, I will upgrade my review to "really liked it" 10 years from today.

I've been using this player for half a year now and must say I'm pretty satisfied. Sound is good, changing discs isn't nearly as loud as some reviews led me to believe, and well, it simply does its job very well. As with all electronic devices, there are some minor quibbles that could be addressed, see for yourself how relevant they are to you.
* Biggest criticism is one time the disc changer failed and a CD got stuck inside the machine, forcing me to screw the thing open. Not good. However: it happened just once, and it occurred with a CD-R which had a cheap sort of label/sticker stuck onto it. Never any problem occurred with 'proper' CD's or CD-R's without such label-thingies on top of them.
* The device screen doesn't display how many tracks there are on a disc - so the machine doesn't tell you how long before the CD is over. Oh well.
* It isn't the fastest CD-reader on the planet; takes a few seconds before playback begins. Not nearly long enough to bother me though.
* Obviously, the 6-disc changer is physically deeper than most regular receivers/amplifiers/cd/tape-players, which means you need space or stereo furniture with appropriate dimensions. It measures about the same surface as my turntable and could theoretically fit underneath it.
* There's a typical, small red light when the machine is in stand-by mode. More recent Onkyo devices (like my amp) don't have any stand-by light at all, which I prefer.
* I use it in combination with a Onkyo TX8050 Stereo Receiver, which works fine. Small detail: If you use the TX8050's remote for both devices, there's no feature to switch discs.
...And that's about all the quibbles I can think of. I'd definitely recommend this one, particularly since it's reasonably priced and there's not a lot of choice left for CD-players with disc changers. Go for it!

yes we had a client who needed to go old school and use his massive cd collection into an ornate audio system..our whol supplier had to `special order it` and Amazon had it in stock and arrived prime the next day ! win win

I purchased this Onkyo 6-disc player (DXC390) in April of 2009, and have had no problems or complaints in the 26 months since.
The 6-disc changer's playback quality is nothing short of amazing. Although I purchased a souped-up netbook to use as an .mp3 library for my home theater, and have my entire library burned at 320kbs, there is obviously no comparing the compressed quality of .mp3s to the crystal clear definition achieved with this CD player. This is regardless of using Onkyo's "Music Optimizer" or Soundblaster's "Crystallizer" enhancements for restoring .mp3 losses; neither brings the music back. I do not work as a sound-engineer, in a Hollywood studio, nor a symphony hall; but I can say without a doubt that my untrained ear is very pleased by the step-up from a high bitrate .mp3 (with or without optimization) to the real thing on CD. I rarely use the netbook, in spite of its conveniences.
I have never had a problem with the front-loading tray; never have had a disc "jump" out of its disc-well; have used it for many nights of 8+ hours of constant random playback (often switching in new discs during playback;) and have played over 300 different discs without problems of playback/player identification issues. I do not keep burned discs in my collection, so I cannot vouch for all varieties of copied music being compatible.
My disc changer is paired with an Onkyo TX-SR806 A/V Receiver via an optical connection, and I have had exactly zero problems with either. I keep both in a somewhat open environment (1.5" to the L, 6" above, 12" behind, and 18" to the R of the stack) with an Antec component fan on top of the receiver to maximize air flow throughout. No troubles with overheating, and therefore, no loss of performance (permanent or otherwise.)
The price is ridiculously fair. Would I purchase it again? Yes, without a doubt. I intend to buy a couple more units such that I have replacements if Onkyo ever stops producing these fine machines; I have 50+ years of life left, and I intend to jam to the bittersweet end.
**UPDATE**: Today (Aug 19, 2011) I received my two new DXC390 units! They look identical to the original from the review above. Manufacture date of each is from 2011, meaning these are still being produced and not just old stock. Both of the new units are functioning without a hitch so far, and pumping out KISS Icons with graceful detail. It is fitting that these arrived today, as it is the 28-month anniversary date of receiving the first. The original unit is still rocking along, no problems! Now, if I can just get my fiancee to allow me to purchase three more of these over the first couple years of our marriage... :)
By the way, I purchased a "Digital Audio" 3-way rotary digital optical selector switch for connection of all three disc-changers to the same A/V optical input. I am waiting for some new optical cables to come in the mail to connect them all up, at which time I will review the 3-way optical selector at the following link: Cables to Go 28734 Digital Audio Explorer Toslink Selector Switch

We received in record time, the very next day actually. We were excited, but when we took it out of the box, it didn't work. We needed this for our Music on Hold, so we desparately needed it!! then we had to return it and order it from Best Buy.

For the last year and a half the player has performed outstanding. However, this past week the random function (which I do use about 5 times a week with all 6 discs) has begun to falter. I am now getting a screen that tells me the disc playing has 43 tracks or 99 tracks and then of course the player will not work in random mode.
It still plays all discs in order in their entirety as of May 2013. My Technics which this one replaced lasted me a decade with daily use of the random function.
I've not attempted to contact Onkyo as of this review. I will shortly and will report back what happens. Failing help at Onkyo I'll try a local repair shop downtown.
