Obviously I returned my game stop set and now use these.

Secondly, if you are looking for a 1080p solution for your wii, you will not find it. The wii is incapable of upscaling games to resolutions higher than 480p (it can be emulated, but thats a whole other beast). However, 480p, while not "true HD" is still a progressive scan resolution, which WILL result in brighter colors and sharper edges, which is very noticeable in games like Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy (games that use bloom lighting to great effect. Watch the into to Zelda with the standard A/V cables vs. the component cables. Lines sharpen up and the oranges and yellows glow as opposed to looking washed out.) It will also allow you to play many Gamecube games in progressive mode, enhancing the visuals for GC titles as well. (F-Zero in progressive scan is the only way to fly)
Just be sure you switch the Wii's screen output to 480p HD when using the cables. (Also, before crying foul, TEST THESE ON A GAME. You won't see a noticeable difference on the wii menu.)
Those points being stated, these cables DO WORK. FLAWLESSLY. With no interference or static to be had. The build quality is fine, and while maybe not up to say Monster's standards (triple shielded and the like), will more than adequately do the job. (They're cables, after all. You plug them in and forget out them, unlike controller cables that get a lot of wear and tear.) And what more can you want for the price? I picked these up for $3.97 SHIPPED compared to the $29.99 Nintendo first party MSRP or more popular 3rd party solutions ranging from $15-$25.
Let me put this in perspective. Lower rated reviews say these don't last (mine have. This is the second set I bought, being for my gf's wii. I've had mine for 2 years.) So lets say they didn't, and you had to replace them every six months. You could replace them 8 times (thats 4 years) and it would STILL be a more affordable solution to the official Wii cables. At that point, do the math and take the chance. Its $4, and you'll be glad you spent that instead of $30 when you use that extra cash to buy a game or a new SD card to store you're expanding VC library.
