Disclaimer, I am not a hardcore gamer. I in no way consider myself an authority on game systems. This is just my humble opinion (simply from a wife and mother's point of view). :o)

What is most appealing to me is that the wii is starting a wave of new generation interactive game systems. It is not just "yet another cookie cutter" game. Don't get me wrong. I have MUCH respect for all the other game systems. But the wii finally broke out of the mold. All game systems have pro's and con's including the wii, but this is a great little system for the money.

* Yes, the graphics won't knock you off your feet - but it's not horrible.
* Yes, the Wii doesn't come with a DVD player - it would be nice but come on, exactly how many DVD players does one household really need? It's a good bet almost every tv in your place already has a DVD player and I'm sure most people have another game system which can play DVD's. - Not a deal breaker. (Don't quote me on this, but I heard the second generation wii should be able to play DVD's). ???????
* Yes, there should be a better bundle of accessories, at the very least a second remote and nun-chuck and some starter wii points so we can down load a couple of games online, out of the box. And why not have ankle sensors?? - But this keeps the price down a little and I do like the fact you can pick your own accessories and that you aren't stuck with unnecessary items you don't want or don't need.
* Yes, some of the games are pricey for the `game quality / game play' - I suggest reading reviews and maybe trying to rent any game you may question first and try it, before you decide to buy. Always look for sales / good deals. Sometimes you can find the game you want for $10 less if you take the time to shop around (especially online). How good a game is, is in the eye of the beholder. One person let's say a hard core gamer, may think a particular game sucks, but someone else may really like / love that same game. It all depends on your wants and needs. Maybe you're a hard core gamer, maybe you're a child, maybe you're a person who loves video games, but didn't play much until now because the other game systems just kept getting more and more complicated, maybe you're an older person who can now play video games with their grandchildren instead of watching on the sidelines. I'm sure ALL the game platforms have some excellent, good and very bad games. (And yes, we do have an `ok' size library of wii games already).
* Yes, there aren't a lot of dedicated wii games out yet - But they are coming, hang in there.
* Yes, some games are more fun / interesting while playing in a group, than by yourself. - It's also fun when the kids go to bed and the adults have the nerve to get really competitive and silly. At times we have friends over and the testosterone between the men start flying. At times you can get so engrossed in the games you almost forget it's not an Xbox or PS3.
* Yes, it sucks that some of the games (designed for multi-players) you can only play in a one player mode until you beat a certain amount of levels to unlock a `code', then other players can join in. - OK --- yes this really does suck! If the game states more than one player can play, then I do expect to be able to play any game in any mode with more than one player. - But at least most of these games have a bunch of mini games included in the software which are multi-player. This will help with impatient kids. I do hope they don't make too many more games like that (but that's just me).

Will the wii ever measure up to the Xbox, Playstation and the other's? Most likely not, but the wii has its own niche, which at this point that is not duplicated by any of the other game system platforms. That alone makes it a stand out game. It get you up off the couch or chair and before you know it, in some cases you've just gotten a nice little work out while actually having fun!!! Shhhhhhhh

It is a nice family game system. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 6 year son. The whole family including aunts, cousins and grandparents have all joined in on the fun. But the great thing is it's not just for families.

(Have your cake and eat it too!) I didn't know this, but there these consoles out there (OK men and hard core gamers, I know you already know these consoles exist. My husband found one of these things online. This is simply an fyi for out of touch people like myself.) They are system selectors. They are supposed to save you time and trouble. Instead of having to fool around with wires, disconnecting one game system to connect another one, you are supposed to be able to connect them all (depending how many the console supports, the number varies) through a system selector console and choose from any of gaming consoles by pressing a button. I believe the platforms these consoles are able to support are the PS, PS 2 & 3, Nintendo W

We are enjoying our Wii black very much. It blends well with our other electronics in our livingroom. My daughter had it set up in minutes and we've been using it ever since. It is easy to operate and uses 2 AA batteries in the controller--we change them about once a month. The games Wii Sports and Wii Resort offer a good variety of games to get started with.

I had been thinking about purchasing a Wii for quite some time now that I finally have it my only regret is that I waited so long. From the time I placed my order to the time it arrived was only 2 days!

So I've heard all about the Wii and the fun and exercise it can offer but I was reluctant to purchase due to the price point...then came Amazon. I liked the black as it would blend in with the TV, etc. The product arrived in prefect condition, well packed, easy to set up, and just plain fun to use. I also purchased the Wii Fit Plus (with free shipping) which is totally addictive fun...I'm almost 50 and can see a difference in my body (and weight) in just one week plus, seeing my progress is great incentive and encouragement. While a number of opportunities exist to purchase here, this one has free shipping which is important in my thrifty book.

The wii is an awesome console, but if you're considering getting a Wii and haven't had one before, i'd wait. The new "Wii 2" as it's codenamed is being announced in June and will probably be available in early 2012. That's why this price is so low.

Hello everyone, i just have to say, wii's the very best videogame console, i mean there are better things in the graphics area, but a real gameplayer doesn't care about that, at least it's not the more important thing, my family loves wii too!I don't know if we're near to see a wii 2 in June, at the E3...but I don't really care! if you are thinking about get fun and don't want to care about difficult controller systems, you have to buy it! Just perfect!Cons: there's no thing like that...Pros: it's a wii... just perfect!

I find this system to be better than any out there for a number of reasons. The games are extremely fun for ANY age, they are simple to figure out, but yet challenging enough so it can interest adults as well. I have seen these systems in nursing homes even for the games like bowling and such. There are games that pertain to any age group, or any interest as well. I also love how you can buy games that will allow you to play video games for hours without feeling lazy like wii fit, tennis, baseball, carnival games, ect. and you can buy games like mario where you can play if you just want to sitt and relax and be lazy. It is also perfect for college kids and teenagers who have friends over a lot because they make so many games that are fun to play at a party.

The price was fair. Works fine and arrived on time. I'm happy with it.This is extra text to meet the stupid minimum requirements from Amazon.

Amazon sent me a blast email to review this product since I purchased it so here I am, the diligent Amazon customer, reviewing a product with 156 great reviews. I don't have much more to say on top of what's been said. It's great for all ages! We're mainly using it in combination with a Netflix account and possibly Hulu to replace our unaffordable cable tv. Be prepared to shell out lots for additional accessories and games. Look for games that come with additional controllers, often at the same price as or a little more than the controller itself.

So the wii is the interactive game of the decade, blah blah blah, everyone says that. But why should you buy the black wii with the Sports Resort package? First, I'll say this is my second wii, (lost my first one in a split up), so the wii itself isn't a new thing to me, so I'm reviewing this package deal.Well, I bought the black wii to match my tv and other electronics, and was planning on painting the base black to match (does come silver), but after setting it up, it matches the silver speakers built into my 2 TV's perfectly! That ensured the 5th star for Nintendo.Getting a basic wii years ago, you'd get a basic sports disc that was short lived, this wii sports resort is a full set of games and challenges, this could keep you busy for quite some time. The inclusion of the Motion Plus is indeed a nice touch also, this is the full package for 1 player.My recomendations - may as well pick up a second Motion Plus Controller and Nunchuck with your order so 2 people can play from the start, and unless you like changing/charging batteries all the time pick up an Induction Charger like the one I got: Wii Energizer Flat Panel 2x Induction ChargerIt's a wii, you love them or hate them, but this package and color option are well worth the money.**and don't forget, Amazon sometimes gives rebates with these, I got a $[...] game credit when this purchast finalized, very useful!!**

I ordered this as soon as I found it under the price I could afford. I ordered it "piece meal" and haven't yet set up the board, but it was very easy to install the game console. I have used it with my Netflix account and the picture comes in clear and the sound good (I have a Roku on another tv and it isn't so clear or good). I have "checked out" fitness DVD and set up my "person" and now have the board ready to go, so am looking forward to using this. Friends who have it or have played on the WII tell me it is wonderful. The graphics are clear; I believe some of the fun will be learning how to use the remote. I can easily see that it will be good for some laughs, just using it for checking weather and Netflix.

I bought this to view Netflix and get rid of HBO'S & Cinemax.They don't have enough new movies so I hated paying for something I wasn't using.One day I will try the games, only had it for a couple of weeks.It was easy to set up.

Buy the wii if you have kids or like inviting people or throwing parties in your place so everyone can have fun while spending less in a gaming console. Otherwise, if you wanna have motion-sensored fun buy the kinect and if you want a real videogame console buy the xbox360 or the ps3 and do not let nintendo steal the beloved licensed franchises as Zelda, Metroid and Mario by making a 'console' that doesn't even support high definition. Come on nintendo get serious! by making your market bigger, we, the real gamers, owners of nes, snes, n64 and gc are the ones paying the price dont be sooo cheap

Gave in to the Wii instead of the Kinect bundle because (1) the latter is more expensive, (2) good reviews by family (3) tried it at work and had fun with it, I gotta have it! No major issues so far.

not much fun for adults maybe a kid would find it entertaining , i didn't it was really boring to tell the truth, there was only one i considered playable

We got this for Christmas, and it was fun for a while, but the motion games get old quickly. The wand and nunchucks are good for the Wii sports games, but I don't like them for regular games. I have a classic controller, and it's okay, but some games still require the motion controller. The Wii is good for beginners or non-gamers, but if you want more "hardcore" games then don't buy this. Also the Wii doesn't get most of the games that go to the PS3 or X-box 360.

Cheap, sufficiently sturdy, and does what it's supposed to do. Not much more to say.Btw...Amazon...this isn't a "game", so you shouldn't force people to answer questions about how "fun" it is. If nothing else, there should at least be a 'N/A' option

This is a generic controller. This brand of nunchuk stopped working right after about 2 weeks of use. We got it for Lego Star Wars, now it makes the character run constantly in one direction, whether you're touching the controller or not. You can't move backwards at all and it's impossible to maneuver. The joystick doohickey (lol sorry I don't know what it's called) is more loose than the actual nintendo brand nunchuck. We had to get a replacement, and I would recommend sticking with the name brand on these.

I think that I enjoy the games more than my kids 5-9. My dad and I like to play pool when he visits. The cow game is lots of fun, with lots of laugh. It is less expensive than other Wii games, but fun for the family.

I don't know what to say other than it works like it is suppose to and I can't tell a differance between this one and the one that came with the console when I bought it. I do have the newer version of Wii ( bought 2/2011 ) and it is great.Shipper is good company and had no problems.

I was hesitate about buying this game but I said for the price, I couldn't go wrong. I haven't played it enough to open all the games but for the 4 or 5 games that I have played, I think it was worth the money.But it's not a game I would play everyday; maybe once or twice a week.

This is a Nintendo Wii. We're all pretty much familiar with them. Wii Sports, Metroid Prime 3, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and more from the perennial player. This model however also includes the "Wii Motion Plus" and "Wii Sports Resort" as well. The Wii Motion Plus does make a significant difference in the ability of the Wii to track location and movement accurately, and it is used effectively by Wii Sports Resort.In all reality however, the single biggest reason I bought this is to satisfy my near-OCD on my home theater setup. My electronics have to be black or metallic in color. My PS2, PS3, and Sega Saturn are all black, I bought an Xbox 360 Elite partially for that reason, and I even replaced my launch-day Sega Dreamcast with a "Sega Sports" edition for purely aesthetic reasons. Which then led to my covering my Wavebird receiver with black masking tape for that same purpose.All in all, it's a good piece of hardware. I don't use it nearly as much as my Xbox 360 or PS3 because of my preferred games. For example, in the past year it's been Brutal Legend, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption, and Just Cause 2 as my favorites. However the ability to play Super Metroid without emulating on my PC or having the occasional party game with the Wii makes it a definite worthwhile purchase. Recommended.
