The only downside is the small little add-ons that you have to purchase for certain games.

By default you will get only composite output cable (1 Video + 2 Audio). The new LED TV i bought Sharp 46LE810UN just have only one composite input and i have also noticed that the 2010 model TVs are reducing their composite input and increasing the HDMI input. Though you can buy the Wii component cable (3 Video + 2 Audio) from the market, it is very disappointing to see that Wii does not have HDMI out by default.

Would be better if the Wii has a hard power off switch. Not sure whether this is teh cause of the Game CDs get struck when left it in the console for a long time. Also, the weird thing is that if you do not completely shut off the Wii, the Game CD input CD blinks occasionally.

Wish we could have a remote recharge option available from the console or as additional accessory.

You can buy "WiiWare" games directly online and download them to the Wii if you have your Wii connected to the internet, but these games are just not that good and I can't find any that are actually worth the Wii Points you have to purchase to download these games. Also, their Wii internet browser must be purchased for Wii points, which is frustrating since you are already paying for Internet access through your ISP. Even after getting the Internet channel/browser, you'll find that the browser is a joke and many web pages don't display properly, and "most" content such as video, audio, etc. will NOT function inside their browser.
Thus, if you're considering buying the "Wii Points card" to download additional Wii channels or games, I highly recommend you buy just a single card of the lowest cost. Don't spend a bunch of money buying a lot of points, only to find out there's really nothing there worth downloading.
The internal memory of the Wii is sadly limited. You can add an SD card to "copy" stuff too, but the SD card really isn't used for anything functional and doesn't "add to the internal memory" for storing channels and games you purchase. Thus, I have to wonder what benefit having an SD card "really" gives you?
The Wii remotes work fairly well, but often times you're left wondering "what happened" because it didn't do what you thought it would and some games just become an effort in frustration because you can't perform the required button combinations to perform a task.
You can create a "Mii" character to resemble yourself in the Wii, but "many" games ignore that and won't use the Mii character, so it's a bit self defeating to do this.
If it weren't for the fact that I have kids, I'd never have bought a Wii and instead would have bought an XBOX or Playstation if I really felt the need to have a gaming console. They definately offer a wider variety of games and genres and aren't so hung up on the annoying "cartoon" games that is the primary lineup for the Wii.
Kids will have lots of fun with the Wii, but to get all the controls and accessories to let your family play together will cost you a "LOT" of money, so keep that in mind and most definately research the Wii games available and compare them with the other gaming consoles out there before you commit to a Wii, or you may find the gaming fun won't last long due to such a weak lineup of games for the Wii.

Gaming on the Wii is an experience one has to live at least once - but preferably whenever he or she feels blue. Sure, it may not sport the cutting-edge graphical capabilities of a SONY PS3 or the game titles selection of the XBox. Nevertheless, most Wii games take full advantage of the consoles capabilities and the exclusive games selection include the unsurpassable The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the absorbing Metroid Prime Trilogy, the mesmerizing Okami and the soothing Endless Ocean: Blue World.
Not to mention the capabilities of Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort when coupled with a Wii Balance Board!
If you can still find one, I would advise buying the (Limited edition) black one. I keep mine in our TV room and the black blends perfectly with my other home entertainment electronics. In any case, do not miss the revolution.
There is simply no other console that offers so much fun. Both SONY and MICROSOFT have technologically excellent gaming consoles - but NINTENDO is the only one that always keeps in mind that gaming is supposed to be FUN.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

As said before, the biggest thing the Wii has going for it is the controller. The wii remote has all kinds of fancy parts which allows people to control some games, simply through movement. A good example of a game like this is actually the one that comes with the console: "Wii Sports". It's fun, simple, entertaining and is a great example of what the wii remote can do.
Wii Sports is a decent game and most people will enjoy it, however, the fact that it is the most well known game on the system is a bad sign. Actually it's more than a sign and there is a reason the system does not have many well known games which is simply because it has hardly any half decent games at all! It doesn't matter if you are into action games, sports games, puzzle games, role playing games, racing games, simulation type games, strategy games, fighting games, adventure games, or even educational games; the Wii just does not have a good software selection.
The lack of any good games is a huge problem for the Wii. Untill the Wii can get some good software it is just barely worth buying at this point. There's potential here, but that is all, just potential.
Pros:
- The size of the console itself is very small and is nice to look at.
- The innovative controller can be fun and simple to use.
- In theory the system is cheap.
- Wii Sports is a great party game.
Cons:
- Wii Remotes are expensive. ($40 for the remote and 20$ for the nun chuck. Since you will need 3 more of each to play four player games, this will add up quickly.
- Nintendo has not kept up with demand, thus causing market prices to increase.
- The number of good games can be counted on one hand, and of those games many may not even be the type that you like.
*EDIT 7/11/09*
Nintendo, thankfully has gotten a good number of wiis in stores (finally) so finding one is no longer difficult. Prices are now going to be consistent which is great for any potential buyer. Seriously, if cost was a problem before it shouldn't be anymore since you will no longer be paying more than MSRP.
That said, there is one new problem that I found which wasn't mentioned in the original review; that being the battery life of the wii remotes. It seems like I'm replacing those two AA batteries very often. I'm gonna give a ballpark estimate of about 30 hours of use but don't take that number too seriously. Also, they seem to drain even when not in us, though at a MUCH slower rate.
I still think the wii is a wonderful piece of hardware that Nintendo did a fantastic job creating. However, I also still think the system has way too few good games on it.
