After 9 months, one day this stopped working. I thought it was some problem with my PC (virus), cable, ISP but after verifying everything I called Netgear support. Apparently they were doing me a favor by since their service warranty is 90 days but product warranty is 1 year - what? They upgraded my firmware but the problem persisted. The unit heats up and the wired connection drops but the wireless works although I dont know how long the wireless will keep working. I dont expect these things to last forever but at least 2-3 years is a reasonable time for useful life of a $100+ product. I have asked them for a replacement but their tech support insists on following all the steps. Lets see what happens and if the replacement works.Update: I got the replacement after paying a shipping charge. And the product stood upto the reviews seen so far. The wireless stopped working in 3 weeks. So I am down $150 and 2 of the same devices dont work. This sucks. I logged a case online and after few hours they closed the case without explanation or resolution.

I ordered this product. It arrived when promised, 2 days later. I plugged it in and it worked. Who could ask for anything more. This is the way things are supposed to be.

this is second one, I purchase because we have two homes. The first one worked so well that I ordered one for our other home.* to avoid any problems, I contacted their support for assistance in the installation, both times, they walked me through the installation with no problem at all* it took less than 20 min.* they were quite professional, helpful, friendly, personable,patient and knowledgeable with good communication skills, the second time, it was a person with an accent, but his use of the language was great.* I use the wireless alot w/ my ipod and get perfect reception all around inside and outside the housethe first one, I have owned and used it for several mos., with no problem, the second so far so good.[ just installed 2 days ago]* they both have given a boost to my modem, something nice, in addition to everything else* I would truly recommend this item, great buy and beyond expectation service and support.

The product was a nightmare to set up, requiring two techs on the line at one time talking to each other. One from my phone company, one from netgear, because netgear didn't know how to set it up with the way my phone company was broadcasting. Once it was setup, everything on the net was slow, netflix would not stream, sometimes not at all and sometimes cutting off and on. Playstation was way slower. It was a nightmare. Took it out and went back to phone companies router, and now i'm stuck with this netgear router. Bad, Bad product.

I have had 4 since 2006 and use them all the time - we have a large house and a lot of guests. I also use other means to extend the network, but the best thing about these is that once they are set up on the network, you can just move them to another part of the house if you need. We have a complete mix of wiring in the house, some 100 years old, and that means that they don't work everywhere, but they work in most of it.They aren't necessarily easy to set up. If you are reasonably competent with Microsoft networks, it will make your life easier - and you probably need to be to set up any moderately complicated home or office network anyway. If for instance, your gateway router uses 192.168.1.1, then since these by default are 192.168.0.101, they won't communicate. You'll have to reset the IP address of your router to .0.1, then find the wgx, change it to .1.101 (or whatever) and then change your router back - for instance. If your router is already .0.1, you won't have that issue. (don't remember if there is much help on this in the manual - I do remember it took me a while to figure out).One of mine just failed - which is what prompted this review. The other 3 are OK,and the one that burned out is the one I had been lending guests to take to their rooms, so I don't know if it's been abused. Ironically, it's been in a drawer most of the time. But that's 3 years for the first to fail, which perhaps isn't too bad.One more thing, you won' get a transfer rate close to Ethernet. It's about fast enough to keep up with our DSL, so it's not a bottleneck for the internet. But if you want to transfer lots of music and photos around your home (except overnight backup), I'd find another way.Net net though, great (relatively) simple solution for getting wireless to hidden corners of the house.

Was very excited to get a 5GHz capable AP at a good price, among all the other choices who barely stop to tell you that they share the 2.4GHz band. I will admit that this AP has been really reliable, barely ever getting thrown offline/unresponsive by reset WAN connections, reset router, etc.The range though...definitely nothing to get excited about - perhaps their focus really was raw speed in a simplistic environment (small home/apt.)? In any case, I live in a large multiperson, multiroom environment and the range of the router was less than the 802.11g.My bottom line - if you want a reliable, compact, inexpensive 5GHz AP for a studio or small environment this might be the one. Also, I didn't really use any of it's other features, they may make this the prefect product for you! If your goal is to see what 5GHz MIMO can do, this isn't it.

alot of people have given this router negative reviews and i can't really understand why. the setup is more in-depth than a basic router like the wnr2000 by netgear (which is a great router for less money). this isn't a basic router, it's got alot more to offer in the settings selections which is probabaly the reason for the frustration people have had with it. first make sure the firmware is updated by going to netgear's site and entering the model number and searching the downloads in support. second take your time with the set-up and reset the router to it's original settings (and start over) whenever you have any issues that prevent you from connecting wirelessly. third wait a few minutes before reconnecting your modem and router when you aren't doing a default reset. the same things apply with this router that do with all routers. take your time and you'll be ok. it's a great router for my needs. i live in a two bedroom apartment and i use this router with a netgear home theatre powerline setup. i got the powerline 4-port ethernet switch connected to my home theatre (xbox 360, ps3) and my modem/router in the bedroom with another xbox 360. so far i have been connected steady without drops and i have two 360's running xbox live for games or netflix at the same time (no problems). even with hd video streaming. anyone with a home theatre should definitley check out the home theatre powerline package from netgear (i love it). hope this helped. oh yeah i bought this router refurbished (saves alot of money).

Very excited to buy modem/router combo. Set up went fairly well. Worked as advertised for about 2 days and then lost its noodle. Printer worked at first and then no way. Replaced with Cisco E4200. That was a great move. Set up was infinitely easier and faster and thus far works just fine.

I've had this device for a couple of weeks now and haven't had any issues with it. It took a few more minutes than I thought it should have to set up initially, but I haven't had any problems with it once I figured out how to get it set up. Speed doesn't seem to be an issue and I'm pleased with the range. I don't have any problem using it in the basement with the router is upstairs on the other side of the house.

This is the best modem I have ever had. Once I got my dsl password from Att everything went well. The instructions said the dsl password was the password I got when I first signed on with Att. It wasn't. Att gave me the password and every thing went well. I have two laptops and the one secondary laptop was easy to add.

I purchased this router to replace my older Netgear model. The WNR3500 has greater range and faster. I am networking two other notebooks, one with Windows 7 and a Macbook Pro. Both work fine with this router.I am very pleased with this purchase.

Got two of these to expand my wireless N network. I have various hot spots now where I can connect for full strength coverage around the house. I hooked my xbox and blu ray player hard wire to it. Wish it had more than two hard lines but for the price it is pretty awesome.

NETGEAR DGND3300 is easy to setup worked great after 2 weeks. The DSL speed test indicated a big drop from 2802KB to about 675KB. I keep watching it for an other 2 weeks to see if the speed is back to normal. Otherwise, I kiss it goodbye and return it.

I bought this router to replace another one that was failing. Sometimes I would have to refresh a webpage multiple times to get it to load and even then, some of the graphics would not load on the webpage. The router was very easy to set up and to add my laptop and netbook to my wireless network. You just connect the router to your broadband connection. Connect the router to your desktop computer. Install the router software, then start adding computers to your network. So simple.

This POS is incompatible with the Pantech UML290 and Netgear has not intention of updating its firmware any time soon, if at all. In fact this router is compatible with only a very few USB modems. One thing's for sure, I'll never buy anything from Netgear again.

Within a few months, we began to lose connections and had to cycle the power every day or two. Now at 6 months, we have to cycle the power 5-8 times per day. It is not made to last and I'm all done with netGear products.

Purchased this in February of 2010. I can say it's easy to set up. Beyond that, I would not classify this as a good buy, even though the specs look good. At times, it would go through `fits' with the Ethernet connected PC's loosing the internet connection. Once in awhile, the Windows connection repair would restore internet access, but most of the time, you have to unplug the unit and restart it to recover the connection. Then, it wouldn't sync with the DSL input. Diagnostic's reported no DSL signal. So, a call to ATT resulted in a tech coming out. The tech hooked up an ATT DSL modem and surprise, DSL sync'd and line was fine - the feature rich Netgear unit's DSL modem died (although the wireless connection to a couple printers continued to work without a problem). In short, a waste of money if you need the DSL modem end of this unit. Oh, and thus far, Netgear customer service is not getting any gold stars either......

I ordered the refurbished one. It came right away, was easy to set up. It took the place of my old Verizon Westel which had a poor range. I have had it for about two months, and it works like a charm. The Wi-Fi range in my home is great.

The packaging is very confusing for this item. Luckily, I researched it before buying and realized that you either need two of these or a 5Ghz Router. I bought a Netgear WNDR3300 and connected this. I will say that if you already have a great router that does not do 5Ghz, I would have a hard time buying two of these instead of another bridge.This product was extremely easy to connect and has worked flawlessly ever since. All I had to do was push a button on the router and another on the bridge and it did the setup for me. I also have a D-Link dual band wireless bridge that was much harder to setup (extremely hard) and seems to be tempermental in keeping a connection and also has poorer range. In contrast to the D-Link, I am shocked at how well this one works and how easy it was to setup. I wish it had more ethernet ports, but two is probably enough for most people/uses. Also, I have this going through two walls and about 75 feet away, so I can't say much for the range except that it also seems better than D-Link. Great product. I may replace my D-Link with another one of these.

It keeps dropping connections, not be able to connect at all sometimes, and now three of four Ethernet ports died. It's only 11 months old. It seems like the last one is a very common problem with this product yet they keep selling it.

Good product. Netgear has problems connecting if you let its software control it. Best to turn off netgears software and let windows control instead. Other than that great product.

After using this product since February, I can honestly say that I made a HUGE mistake in this purchase! My last Netgear router (WGR614) was not performing badly, but I wanted to enhance the range and also the networked speed -- hence my move to the WNR3500 "RangeMax" N router.Initially, I felt that this router worked well, and was reliable. However, as of the last couple of months, I am noticing more and more intermittent signals - both wired and wireless! I called technical support, and after attempting to describe my problem to the representative on the other line (and understand what she was trying to tell me), I was simply told that since the wired signal was working, that it was a software issue!!!I questioned the validity of this, reiterating that the wireless signal was dropping and questioning exactly HOW that could be software related, and not a hardware issue... naturally, I got nowhere. The representative then told me once again that since it was "software" related, I could PAY for support (mind you, this product is less than 1 year old!). Judging from the trouble I had understanding her in the first place, I chose not to go that route, and rather search for solutions on the Netgear site and elsewhere on the web. I have since upgraded the firmware, and changed the "channels" as well as the mode, but neither has resolved the problem. I feel that the router will sadly become another lifetime contribution to the local dump very soon.After reading reviews here, I can see that mine was not an isolated incident, and felt the need to share my situation (and lack of assistance from Netgear) to try to help others in not making the same mistake I made. Good luck to any who purchase this router... both with the quality as well as the customer support that are both leaving a lot to be desired.

Super simple setup, product works as described, good range and connection. Gave it 4 stars because it would be nice if you could choose between 2.4ghz OR 5ghz. Also, I can see why some people who bought this were frustrated after they realized they would need to buy 2 of these to operate as a bridge. Yes, it shows that you need to buy two in the picture - however you have to enlarge it to even see that. I think it should have been clearly STATED - common sense business, and I'm sure they lost a lot of potential loyal customers due to that. Thankfully, I already had a 5GHZ capable Netgear router, so I was able to use it as a Bridge with just one of these.

It was an easy setup and provided flawless operation. I used the wiz on the CD so it was foolproof. The speed is fine for my use and I like the option of wired or wireless connection to ease my worry at times. I have 3 computers with different OS on each, XP, Vista and Win 7. All work fine.
