I bought a WG602 to extend my wireless network (being established by a WGR614) - after two hours of trying, I gave up and started searching the internet for results. Just then, my friend google *told* me that the WG602 only works with a limited number of other APs (the WG602 and WG302 seem to be the only ones compatible as far as I know..). But that doesn't seem to bother Netgear, they don't give any hint at all, neither on the package, nor on their website. This is a darned cheek! It's almost like having them say "Hey, we're selling cars!" and after buying one of them you discover its disability to drive...CONCLUSION: If you need a AP, try it, it might actually work - if you need a repeater, just keep your hands of the WG602's!!!!...words from a frustrated consumer...

The Netgear USB wireless was easy to install and configure. I had it setup and running in less than 5 minutes. So far it has provided far superior connectivity to my wireless network than the previous wireless card I had used in my laptop.

I have had the PC card almost 2 weeks now. The installation was easy and smooth. The card has worked perfectly, and is much more sensitive than my previous card. Previously I had intermittent access to the wireless network I connect to. Now I am permanently (almost) connected to the network. Downloads are also smooth, speedy and easy. I am very pleased with the card.Richard CarrFlagstaff, AZ

This prduct is nice when it works. Have to continually unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work though. The software for it seems pretty clunky. I guess I'm stuck with wires still. One of these days they'll get it right, I hope.

The good is the hardware. Neat, tidy, easy to hook up. The bad is the software, which is unreliable at best (not sure whether it's kludgy, or just doesn't work well -- tried with flavours of Windows from 95 through 2000 and XP pro.The ugly is support: it has to be the worst I have ever run into on the 'net, and that's saying an awful lot...

I bought Netgear WGT624 Super G from Amazon for $85-$25 rebate and the corresponding WG511T from Best Buy for $89-$40 rebate.Actually, I like Linksys because it is reliable. So, I bought Linksys WRT54G first from Fry's, but they sent me an old version of WRT54G which was reviewed having a lot of problems. I returned Linksys and bought Netgear because it says it can go up to 108 Mbit and it is cheaper than Linksys. Hopefully, they really send me the rebate.Installation to replace my old wired Linksys router was relatively easy (with Comcast and RCA modem). However, for some reasons, I can not make my laptop to work at 108 Mbps. The fastest it can go is 54 Mbps. This is after firmware refresh (both the router and the card) and using channel 6.I can not say that the signal is great, since from about 10 feets distance in the same house, the speed drops to 24-36Mbps.I have not try with 11 mbps b card, so I can't say anything about this.Few things to remember when installing the router:1. Do not rush opening the box. You need to check if the router you have is firmware upgradable. Netgear was reviewed to have some rotten apple in their batch that do not allow firmware upgrade. Go to their web site: http://kbserver.netgear.com/support_details.asp?dnldID=592and enter the serial number of the product to see if the one you have is firmware upgradable. If not, you should return it.2. You want WGT624G version 2 or later. This later version uses a better chip set. However, I think there is no way of finding the version without opening the box. I order from Amazon because according to reviews Amazon ships version 2; although mine has a low serial number.3. They have a URL that describes the setup for various ISP: http://www.netgear-support.com/ts/doc/ispguide.htm.It would be a good idea to check it before installing.I rate this as a good product althought I am not quite satisfied since I can not make it to work up to 108Mbps as advertised.-- bens

This is a TiVo-approved wireless adapter, but note that they only approve Version 1. Good luck finding out what you're buying before ordering it.That said, I got a Version 1 unit and found it worked wonderfully with TiVo. For about three hours. Then, it disconnected and took out the wireless side of my home network. TiVo says it doesn't like using a B/G adapter with a B router. Bogus, say I.The WG111 works beautifully on my laptops.Beware.

I bought the Netgear USB wireless G adapter to enable me to network my Tivo Series 2 and take advantage of its home media capabilities. I could not be happier with the Netgear's performance. Once my Tivo had downloaded new firmware (its software version 7 is required), I simply plugged the Netgear into the USB slot. Boo-bam, worked like a charm. No configuring, no dropped signals. Good throughput. I am using a Belkin Pre-N wireless router. I was a little leery of USB wireless adapters, but the Netgear worked perfectly with no configuration.

I was a little skeptical at first about using this device... do to it's incredibly small size. However I quickly fell in love with how easy it was to install on my windows xp machine and the excellent Netgear Smart Wizard that sits in my system tray, making it possible for anyone to quickly get connected to their network. Unfortunately my original skepticism quickly came back to confront me. After using the device for only a few days my connection dropped. I had to unplug the thing and reboot my computer before I was able to get back on my network. I've only had it for about 2 weeks and I've had to unplug it and restart my computer probably 15 times to get it to work again. I never used to have problems in the past with my other wireless usb adapters so I have a good feeling that it's due to this devise. I do notice that it gets very hot if you leave it in your computer for a long time, I'm no engineer but this might be somehow related to its poor performance.

Bought this adapter so I could continue to get programming updates without a landline. Took it out of the packaging, plugged it in, changed the TiVo setting to accept a wireless network, done. That was it. A few clicks on the TiVo remote was all it took. It really couldn't have been easier. Highly recommended. Just make sure you have the updated TiVo software so it will accept wireless networks.

The sofware ship with this adapter crashes in XP and you will see a blue screen for every ten minutes. I spent couple of days to try different combinations. Finally I found a right combination. Here it is. Install only their drivers using Microsoft Hardward installation wizard and use XP Wireless Configuration console rather than Netgear configuration utility.Netgear does warn that it doesn't work with XP with piece of sheet in the box. But they don't put this information anywhere in their web site to make the decision before you buy it.

I've applied the new flash upgrade, and performance is still quite good. Most of my comments from January still apply. Setup is quick, Citrix & terminal services work without modification, and I can connect to my main office via Cisco VPN client. Games are still working too.As with most vendors, I suspect you'll have better compatibility if you use a Netgear WiFi NIC with this unit. I can get it to work with a Cisco Aironet NIC, but I cannot get WPA encryption to work. WEP (for what it's worth) works, but I'll probably have to spring for the corresponding Netgear NIC if I want to move to WPA.The print server took a hit with the flash upgrade, however. Now it will only work as long as the PCs using it never reboot. If they do, you lose the connection to the print server until the firewall is rebooted. Tech support has been, um, less than helpful in resolving the issue. For that reason, my rating still stands at 4 stars. I strongly recommend you check the printer compatibility list on Netgear's site before you count on this as a print server.A couple of other notes: - The firewall is solid. I'm a networking guy, and I've tried to hack my way in a couple of times. Nothing's perfect, but this is a good solution in the home or very small business market. The worst I've been able to do against this unit is a denial of service, which disabled the Internet connection to my home network until I rebooted the unit. - If you plan to use MSN Messenger 6.2 and/or Windows XP's Remote Assistance, you'll need to enable UPnP on this unit, which is a bit annoying, but more of a Microsoft issue. - The e-mail logging is VASTLY improved over that of the previous flash. My logs are much more manageable, and the number of false-positive security alert messages is minimal. - You can now create up to two remote access VPN tunnels with the new flash. I tried it and it works, although as a home user I can't imagine ever needing that feature. Difficult to set up, though, so unless you have a solid understanding of IPSEC VPN protocols, good luck.Still, I believe this is a good unit for a home office. For me, combining the functions of print server, wireless access point, and hardware firewall into a single device make it worth the price.

Tried and faced all sorts of problems with Windows XP SP2. Linksys 802.11b router & adapter was working fine. Thought should use this one to boost up my home netwrok speed but didn't happen. After downloading the latest XP2 driver from netgear's site (Last updated Jun 2004!!!!), can able to make it work upto some extent but now not able to connect my work machine using rdp as I have to use VPN software for my work and looks like it conflict with it. Support is not good. They made me do all those things which I had already tried. Even I mentioned the problem and what are the different steps I have already tried, I was asked to repeat them again and once didn't help, they blamed on Microsoft. I tried something on my own to make it work to at least for connecting to internet. Not much reliable and will have to go back to Linksys. Good elegent design is the best feature.

I have to say that these things are pretty sweet. I purchased 3 of these for each of my computers to avoid having to limit myself to just a desktop card or just a laptop card, and to be able to hook up any computer to my home network (I also do a lot of PC repair). I have not finished testing them properly yet though. Right now my router is not in a good location, its hanging from the ethernet cable that connects to the cable modem which is balancing on top of my curtain rod because I need to mount the router in a better location and run some coax cable to the center of the house. But I get about 18-24MBps on one of my PCs and 24-36MBps on the other two. I assume with proper mounting and antenna angling I should be able to get close to the 54MBps range. But as far as these USB adapters, my only real complaint is that WinXP doesn't have built-in drivers for them already, just to save me the extra step of having to use the install disk (I'm lazy :P)

I purchased my WGT624 v2 from amazon.com. As soon as I pulled it out of the box it was constantly rebooting (dropping me off the internet both wired and wireless). I was able to fix it though and I will tell you how and what happened. When I had this problem out of the box, I called for netgears free 90 day support. They were horrible! They answered the phone without a long wait, but they knew very little about this product. They gave me an RMA and I received the new router. Unpakced the replacement and same problem. Updated firmward to latest, and followed all the troubleshooting on the netgear site and I still coudln't fix it. Just when I was ready to return it to amazon I found out how to fix the problem. There is a setting on the router for preamable and it is set to auto by default. Auto is supposed to detect if the card(s) support short preamable (short is usually only useful when there is a lot of interference from other wireless devices in and around the home and most cards don't even support it). I changed the setting from auto to long and that fixed the reboot problems. I have gone around to as many forums as possible to try and post the solution so that others can cure themselves of this problem. It works great now that I found out what the problem was. This is not a router for a novice computer user. If you are a novice I suggest you get a linksys product. This netgear has a lot of features for the price though, and this is just a stupid problem with the firmware.Hrd2k

I installed this adapter on a desktop running windows xp service pack 2, well in range from my 54G wireless base station. Though signal is strong (often reporting at 54Mb and usually at least 12Mb) but the actual netowrk connection is very sporadic to the degree that it's almost impossible to browse any website without a long wait (and a lot of the times it simple drops). I searched Netgear's website and found an updated driver for this adapter to work with xp sp2, but after downloading and installing that, it didn't get any better. I then tried removing sp2 from my xp install and it didn't get any better either. My computer as well as my ISP are in good condition. When I tried an old Microsoft wireless-b USB adapter on the same computer, everything worked just fine. So I have to conclude that this adapter is really a piece of junk, especially when used with windows xp. I'm hoping Netgear would put out some better driver fix and I'll probably give one last try before throwing the adapter in the trash.

Although I am very happy with the other NetGear products I own I have to say that this adapter is a waste of money. It's easy to set up (I'm running Windows 2000) and starts working at first, but after less than a half hour, it flickers out and stops working entirely.I have a NetGear router and laptops using NetGear PCI wireless cards which work well, but this product is a dog. I second one of the earlier reviewers who mentioned how hot the item gets after a short time in use. My guess is that it has a design flaw that causes it to overheat and stop working. They should really go back to the drawing board on this one.

Purchased my first wireless adapter to use with MSN TV2 unit. Read the reviews & ordered with some hesitation, as this was my first attempt at wi-fi.Much to my joy, it worked without hesitation. I did make sure, however, that I matched the Netgear brand to my wi-fi router. I connected it, gave it a minute or so (just in case), turned on the MSNTV2 & it worked flawlessly! Right now, it's operating in the next room, but have no doubt it will have range through the whole house. Thanks to Netgear!

I've concluded that while they advertise heavily that this unit supports WPA-Enterprise with RADIUS, it does not. It doesn't even support WPA-Personal. Netgear says it has something to do with TKIP.Further, Netgear has the cheapest tech support for product that is at least somewhat known. Therefore, they sell you something full of lies and they don't provide support worth squat. I even tried "level 2" support and they weren't able to help me.Don't waste your money on this unit.I'm getting ready file a suit in civil court to recoup my loses from this product. (about a week and half from writing this review)
