This is absolutely the WORST router that I have ever owned. I cannot even get my wireless devices to get an IP address from the router - and belive me - I know what I am doing.Save yourselves hours of pain - don't buy this piece of crap from Netgear

Yes, it does "work". Meaning if you get the RangeMax router or wireless access point, the pair of them do give you better range than (for example) a Netgear WGT624 router with a WGT511 card (and other such combos that I've tried). It's a bit erratic -- the signal level fluctuates, which seems to me to be a software (algorithm) problem. I hope they can improve it further, but for now it's meeting my needs.A bit more detail: I have a large house, and the networking stuff is all at one end (never mind why), so at the other end of the house the wireless signal would fade to nothing. With this RangeMax combo I can now get an adequate signal (2 bars) where I used to get nothing.So don't expect too much, but also don't be daunted by the bad reviews, it's worth a try. As you know, every building is different, so as they say in another context, your results may vary.

The WG111T works great with Netgear products. I have had this product for more than 2 years now and in my opinion its great if used ONLY with a Netgear router -> especially a Rangemax. The router in my house is on the top floor and i'm in the basemant but I still get a 66% signal. But thats damn good compared to when I tried it with a Linksys and Belkin, both of them only gave me a 0-15% max and that was when I was only 25ft away. Buy only if you intend it use it with a Netgear router, and if you have to use it away from the router (like 100ft or more, get the rangemax.)

I bought this to work with my Tivo, and it couldn't have been easier. Just entered the MAC address as one allowed by my router, and followed the directions that came with Tivo. Total installation time was about 15 minutes. Earlier reviewers seem to have a problem using a version of this card that Tivo says will not work. If you are not able to get an older version of the card from Amazon, go to your local retailer and buy one off the shelf, ensuring that the version is correct. You may have to go to a less popular store, but when you get the right adaptor, it's a breeze to install.

I had already reviewed the Rangemax wireless router, so I didn't feel any need to rate the USB Adapter, until I checked the comments. I have excellent signal strength all over my 3000 sq foot two story house. Right now my signal strength is 61%. My old D-Link system (DL-524 I think)got about half that and would only work half the time.My only guess is that the people commenting on the this wireless adapter are not using it with the Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router.My own experimentation revealed that the two devices work much better if used together.Also, since wireless equipment is so hit or miss, people might be better off purchasing at a place like CompUSA, where items can be returned easily, rather than on Amazon.

I would like to comment on a few models of printers I have tested. Unboxed off the shelf, I tested this unit's print server capability and found it incompatible with all 3 tested models:- HP OfficeJet K60- HP DeskJet 3650- HP DeskJet 1220CI then upgraded the firmware and retested the print server capability. The HP DeskJet 1220C is now supported.FYI to new buyers, be sure to check the printer compatibility list before purchasing this product if you plan on utilizing the print server function.[...]

Bought the RangeMax wireless router about a year ago and don't notice that much difference from Netgears old 108 Super G router. That one was rock solid for me and connected to everything as advertised. However, after 3 different computers and hours of frustration I've about given up on getting anything above 54g using the WPN111 with the RangeMax router. Technical support was no help after several frustrating email exchanges there.The fact that the WPN111 won't connect at 108 speeds is particularly frustrating when Netgear's old Super G card does so without a hitch!(...)

I recently purchased two computers for our home. One was a lap top for my wife and the other was a desktop for my home office. We already had the main desktop computer with dsl internet connection so we needed to install a wireless router so we could both have access. Since my home office was at the opposite end of our home, the wireless signal was very weak. The Netgear wireless range extender was just the ticket to fill the void. Easy to use and very simple, just plug into any electric outlet.

After reading other reviews I decided to order this model, listed as a NetgearWG111, to use with my new TiVo system. What I received was a Netgear WG111USA, which IS NOT COMPLIANT with TiVo systems. After over a month I am still waiting for my refund to be credited to my card. The difference is in the details - get them right folks!

I own the WPN111 adaptor and have been completely satisfied with it. It woreked 100% with linksys wireless router. Now I use with a NetGear RangeMax and works 100% too. The Netgear router has more options so I've had to tweak a little to raise the security so we are no longer the neighborhood hot spot. No complaints. When the connectivity times out, I just unplug and plug... not a problem.

The smart wizard works well for setup, but the computer this adapter is on, requires rebooting every few days so it can re-acquire the connection, I think it is a router issue. Runs hot to the touch, with fast data transfer. This is running on an IBM desktop with a strong netgear router signal, hope the next upgrade helps.

I was skeptical about previous comments on how it crashes windows xp. I have 2 computers running xp with same card and no major issues. Range is slightly better than model without range max.

I bought this to replace an Apple Airport that died an early death.Setup was easy as soon as I figured how to bypass the "wizard"--more like a junior apprentice, really. It falsely claimed that my ISP gives me a static IP address. Had I followed along, it probably would have worked for a while and then failed mysteriously. The cheat sheet has bypass instructions, and then the setup is very nice. It is completely web-based without forcing you to install any software on your computer.I run Linux, Mac and Windows, and all connect just fine.The range improved nicely, as advertised. Having internal antennas is an advantage--one less thing to break.The only irritation are those blinking blue lights that you cannot turn off. (I read that you can open the box and disconnect the ribbon cable, but that seems a drastic step.) Covering them with cardboard is not a perfect remedy since light still emanates from the air vents.In summary: (1) DO NOT install the CD (2) DO NOT use the "wizard"; go directly to the advanced setup (3) Wear dark sunglasses when facing the device

Previous dead spots in my house are gone - replaced with 80+% signal strength and high speed. I was using a Netgear FWAG114 (dual-band b/g) but it couldn't reach everywhere. I have the WPN802 on the top floor of my house in a corner and it reaches everywhere without exception, even my backyard sitting on my porch at the opposite end of the house - which I couldn't do before.Installation note: by default DHCP is not enabled - you have to perform the initial setup by setting the IP address on your PC and plugging it directly into the unit first - awkward - but it does work as the manual instructs you to do. Some people have complained about the blinking blue rotating lights on the top from the antennaes (who doesn't like blinking blue lights!), anyway, there is a cap (think of a pirate's eye patch without the head band) that fits over the lights if they bother you. Excellent - highly recommended.

Surprisingly works fairly well. Easy to install and integrate with my existing wireless infrastructure. Only complaint is I have to reset the base unit fare more than my existing Netgear Wireless Access point.

Version 2 of this adapter will not work with TIVO. TIVO will not recognize this version the WG111. To find the right card make sure to look at the SERIAL NUMBERS on the box. They must start with '130' or 'WG72' if they don't have those serial numbers, you are out of luck.

I purchased this about 2 months ago and have regretted it since.Configuring it "seems" simple enough but this USB device does not stay connected to my wireless server. Its very frustrating when your online one minute then not the next.It seems to lose range very quickly and is very very picky about when it wants to work.The configuring/what little there is to it makes it appear to be a straightforward set up, this is not the case.You cant even tell the device what channel you want it be set to(there isnt an option unless you want to connect to another PC in your network.Whats worse is the price!!! I paid more for this than Amazon lists it for and It has been a nightmare from day one.Stay away from this one, It is definetly not worth the money.I can honestly say I've never had this much disdane for a product like I have for this one.If you like playing games like getting booted offline for no apparent reason and not getting back online until the device feels like working, this is the product for you.This is going back to the store.I'm getting a Lynksis.

I agree with other users.... If you read the TIVO recommended wireless network adapters, this adapter will not work in TIVO because AMAZON is going to ship you out V.2. V.2 does not work, and V.1 is not longer made. I suggest you just order the TIVO brand.... that's what I did, after trying numerous others.and YES, I have a brand new unit with the latest software, that's NOT the issue.

This thing constantly overheats. I have to restart the computer 3 times a day just to reload the drivers. I can't transfer large files across my network, and I can't use P2P without it screwing up and requiring another restart.Go for it if you just want to browse the web. Anything else? Do not buy this product.

I bought this after a friend told me how great this model was working for him. I found the same thing. This one router covers my entire house well -- all 3 levels -- and out into the backyard. All this at higher speeds. Not having the antenna sticking up makes it blend in better -- but the blue flashing lights on top call attention to it. It comes with a little plastic cap to hide the blue light if you get tired of it.

While version 1 (WG111v1) works with later versions of TiVo, Version 2 has not compatibility whatsoever. To make matters worse, it is impossible to tell which version you got until you open the friggin box and look -- which is totally ludicrous. Bait and Switch, people, Bait and Switch.

Netgear makes many fine products - but this is not one of them. If you like rebooting your router at least daily because once again you cannot connect to the internet, then by all means, buy this device. If you like slow communication speeds - then it is for you.They just don't have this thing right yet. Tried firmware upgrade and not much better.I also suggest getting a product that is more specific to your needs. Maybe the multifunction is too much for this little guy.

After months of trouble-free use, started experiencing system lockups. Took quite a while to figure out the problem didn't come from other hardware or software but from this! Reverting back to Smart-Wizard ver.1.1 solved lockups but connection drops intermittently and reconnect a few seconds later. Out of frustration, disabling Smart-Wizard all together and let Windows handle wireless connectivity; and so far no lockups and no drops for 2 days, very happy!! Other users experiencing this problem should give it a try.
