Smallest, functional, fit nicely on top of my LCD screen. Picture and audio quality are very good. The only complaint is installing driver/software which took a long time; it seemed like it had to download the entire software even though it came with a CD. I take 1 star away for that.

I Skype every day and love this camera. I have Skyed with friends using more expensive webcams and the quality is no better than mine. I have recommended it to several people because the picture and sound quality are great and so is the price. Love it!

I purchased 2 of the VX-6000 Web Cams in March 2008 so we could see our grandaughter in another state. One of them is running on a Vista and the other on a XP computer. I couldn't tell you how many hours and days we have messed with these trying to get them to work. It is so frustrating. Right when you think you have figured it out - they freeze up again. It is to late for me to return them since it is now September 2008....my next thing is to call Microsoft and if that doesn't work - I will put them in the closet along with the other dumb purchases I have made. If something happens where I end up figuring them out - I will post what I am doing wrong.

It works well but the quality is no where near as good as the webcam that came on my laptop. It does a good job of tracking and the mic is ok but the pic quality is only so-so

My friend originally had the VX-3000, and when I always went to his house, he let me explore his computer and that he was always uploading videos of himself to Youtube. So I decided to get a webcam that moved faster (the VX-3000 has a very slow framerate) and had great quality (the VX-3000 didn't have great quality and there was always buzz around the video). So I bought this webcam, because it was the third highest on Amazon (the first and second were the VX-3000 alone or in a double pack), it was in silver so that if it's accidently dropped, it won't fall, and that it also worked as a camera to take pictures or take video in High Definition. I highly recommend this webcam if you're looking to buy a great Microsoft product.

I don't use this camera for professional proposes, only to video chatting with friends and family; the quality is really good, I has nice specials effects. I recommend it for everyone looking for an standard camera.

This webcam SEEMS to be the best LAPTOP webcam in the market right now in terms of it megapixels. I believe that it would fit almost all of the laptops because the clip that fits to the laptop adjusts very easily.I think the only comparable webcams are the ones of Logitech. Although Logitech webcams are not better in terms of megapixels, some webcams of Logitech are far much more expensive than this webcam and Logitech seems to be the leader in this market. Therefore if you want to be 100% sure of the best webcam in the market and if you have the opportunity, for instance if your friend/relative has a hightec webcam of Logitech, go and see it, then make your decision.With respect to its features, all of them work great. I believe one of the most important issues that a webcam should have is a build-in mic that receives your voice crystal clear. This webcam proves to be so. As far as its image quality, as I indicated above, it is the best webcam in the market BUT bear in mind that during video calls the performance would not exceed a certain limit due to the softwares' (such as MSN, SKYPE) own settings. So do not expect that the receivers will receive your image in 2.0 megapixel quality. On the other hand I believe there is a possibility that the softwares or technology may improve and someday you would be able to use this webcam to the utmost. Nevertheless the receivers tell me that they receive my image really very very well. Also there is a light in the device that blinks when you try to connect to a video call which later stays when such connection is established. The camera seems to track your face. I believe it makes it very well. Nonetheless I do not recommend to move so frequently and avoid sudden movements, which, as far as I see, affects your video call quality.This product gives better image quality in Windows Live Messenger. This is not only my observation, but also one of the features of the product written on its box.In terms of it convenience, the lens part of the device pops into and out of the camera, which makes you feel comfortable for the lens. When the product is not in use, by poping the lens into the device, you don't feel concerned as to whether the lens is safe from scratches or subject to dust or etc. In addition, the product comes with a little carrying case. It's a little bit small but it would work when you travel.Also you can add some video effects. I don't use it so much. The only thing I know is that it doesn't effect your image and the network speed, hence the quality of your video call.In short, if you have a LAPTOP (otherwise it would be very inconvenient for you to use), especially if you are going to make video calls via Windows Live Messenger, this camera has excellent image quality -regardless of the limits of the Internet, network speed and softwares' own settings-, a build-in mic that receives your voice crystal clear. I highly recommend it.

I was very disappointed with the quality of picture from this LifeCam. It's extremely grainy. Compared to the quality in the 3000 model, this one is very poor.

I ordered two of the Microsoft webcams for Christmas gifts this year. They were new and reasonably priced compared to the retail stores prices. I am very pleased with the product and its features. I would recommend this product to anyone interested in a webcam.

The life cam seems to me to be a better camera especialy in lo light areas around your computer. It has shown me a clearer and brighter picture than my old HP. The one thing I was very upset about it when you down-load the CD that comes with it, it atomaticaly down-loads a bunch of un nessasy crap that slowed my computer down considerably every time I booted up my computer. I had to uninstall the whole program and go directly to Microsoft, find the correct boot-up program and reinstall the program from there. This could take you around 45minutes to a hour and I have a brand new top pf line core two duo. This became a whole lot of spam sales garbage that no one should have go through with out their concent!! I hope taging on this garbage to any little thing you buy STOPS or I would consider not buying anything else from Microsoft!Brian W.

I was first amazed by it's small size, but it is a workhorse. It works very well in low light conditions. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up voices quite well. The price is reasonable. One suggestion I would make is not to pay extra for a specific color on the unit (comes with either red, green, or blue). You really can't see it very well anyway. This is a nice little camera and downloaded the software without incident on my Window's Vista. It works great with Skype.

The Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 is very user-friendly. All you have to do is connect the usb cord your computer and it will start the program you uploaded (CD-rom included). You have an option of taking photos, videos or audio with the lifecam. The only negative thing about this product is that it tends to be not so clear at times, but for the most part a good buy for the price.

I definitely recommend this camera!I bought it not expecting anything amazing but it actually is pretty darn good quality. It was easy to set up and figure out how to use too. Plus, the adjusting ring allows you to focus the video until it's clear.If you're looking for a nice, affordable camera this is the one for you.

This is the fourth webcam for me (in addition to the ones I've bought as gifts). At the office, I have a Microsoft VX-3000; I got the VX-5000 to replace a Logitech I had been using on my laptop. It is much smaller than I expected, but it gets the job done. Compared to my others, the picture is a slight bit grainier, but even in fairly low and contrasty light, it compensates beautifully and provides a clean, colorful picture with well-balanced contrast. Loading the program and setting it up was a snap.I am impressed. I plan to take it with me to Europe (it's small enough to fit with its cord in a half-sandwich bag) and use it from Internet Cafes to keep in touch with my secretary via Skype.For the money, it meets all my expectations. Buy it!

This webcam was immediatewly recognized by the PC. Color balance not the best, though. Easily configurable base to rest on any monitor. Works well with Skype.

It is a horrible product. I bought and i had a lot of problems just installing it. Finally after installing it, the image resolution was horrible so i had to struggle with the webcam until finally i got a good image. After 2 weeks it just stopped working , i red the manuals, went to the microsoft website and tried everything they tell you to do and i could not fixed it. Off course you can call a technician from microsoft but they will charge you 35 dollars.In summary , this is not a good product. Not for this price. I feel i was robbed
