While observing the compare section of the Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506 (980-000430) I noticed that it said it had a 10' driver. Upon receiving the speaker I measured it and it turned out to be a measly 5.25' inches. I'm disappointed about the misleading sub woofer driver size displayed on Amazon.

First, I suppose I should state that I think my unit must have been defective...that or Logitech's engineering department is now staffed by drunken orangutangs that majored in poli-sci. Brand new from the box, the subwoofer was completely non-functional. All of the speakers had a constant and annoying crackling to them. The quality of the sound from the center and satellites was what I would expect from a pair of $5 desktop speakers from the Staples value bin. I tried multiple sound cards (Sound Blaster 5.1, Turtle Beach 5.1, Chaintech 5.1, Realtek 7.1), as well as inputting from iPod and Droid and the results were unchanged. All I got from these was several hours of wasted setup and troubleshooting time, and now having to deal with the RMA process. I've always enjoyed Logitech's keyboards and mice, but I will be staying far, far away from their audio products in the future.

This speaker system is god awful. The two rear speakers are so fuzzy i dont even use them. I am very displeased by this product and Amazon is lucky I'm still using their services.

I purchased this set using AE Reward Points, so they cost ZERO dollars and shipped for ZERO dollars. So pricewise, it was a bargain. Since I hooked them up to my PC, I've been very happy with the sound. All 5 satelite speakers deliver decent to great sound and the sub delivers decent to good sound. Hookup was extra simple. Overall, eventhough I didn't pay for em, $79 - $80 aint a bad price. And the do get mildly loud. Pretty good product.

This was my first surround sound system, and I gotta tell you, these Logitech Z506 speakers are not giving me a good first impression for the surround sound experience. The set-up was simple enough, but some of the cords are just not long enough. The sound that comes out of the front speakers are okay, but they drown out the rear speakers and I could hardly hear them. I had to almost put my ear next to the rear speakers; that's how quiet they are. And you can't adjust the volume for them individually either. There is only one volume adjuster, and it affects all 5 speakers! The sub-woofer was disappointing as well. The bass didn't feel all that pronounced, even when turned all the way up. All of it just sounded all garbled together, and I didn't really feel "surrounded" by sound. The front speakers and sub-woofer just sounded louder as opposed to my normal TV speakers, and the rear speakers were just too quiet. I guess what they say is true: "You get what you pay for." The sound that came out of them may have been a little better than my normal TV speakers, but I feel it wasn't worth the money I paid for them. If you want a surround sound system, I recommend researching and finding the best ones out there. This Z506 system just does not cut it, not for anybody.

I had a set of these speakers while in Afghanistan and recently purchased another set. Also used these speakers for a Marine Corps Mess Night with nearly 200 people there in a very large room and could clearly here the music for the event. Would recommend to buy these for home use definitely

Let me start by saying that this is the first speaker system I have ever purchased but not the first speaker system I have owned. I mainly purchased these speakers for music and movies and I have to say that I have absolutely no regrets, especially at the price I paid. I'll definitely be getting some noise complaints from people in my dorm building with the way I'll be cranking these speakers up.

I spent a lot of time doing research on this and other similar products. I decided to go with this one because of its price. And it is definitely worth it. Great value. The only downside is that its cables are a bit short for a long room, but im using it for my bedroom, so it works great

I purchased these speakers yesterday and I am glad that I did. Initially, I was going to use them solely as my PC speakers. However, after opening the box and seeing the potential for a full-on surround sound package for my room, I went that route. Each of the speakers has a color coded connection on them so hook-up was a breeze, and the nifty fold out mount for the center speaker to sit on top of a TV was a nice surprise.When I turned on the speakers and began to play a game I was blown away. The bass is plenty loud for the room, and I was never aware that there were so many intricate sounds in my games and movies until I had this system. The 5.1 works great for the TV and is also immersive when SET UP PROPERLY on a PC. Many do not realize that it is necessary to open your audio manager on the PC and turn on the proper speaker set-up, specifically for 5.1. Once this is done, you will not regret your purchase. Also, I have not heard the "humming" noise coming from my speakers, so I am not sure what other reviewers are referring to.I would recommend this budget set to anyone looking for a great system for a smaller room.

These speakers are amazing. Let me say this again: amazing! Bear in mind that these amazing speakers are marketed under $100. Therefore, it should not be fair to compare them with more expensive speakers, or with stereo speakers. These are computer speakers. For this price, you can't go wrong. I will say that I use these speakers in my classroom during instruction. I have a large classroom with 30 students (sometimes they can be loud), and no matter what, these speakers always deliver. This is a GREAT asset in my classroom, and for the price, I could not be happier.The speakers arrived promptly in a good box that protected them. The set up was very easy and intuitive. It took me approximately about 7 8 minutes to set them up and having them playing. Again, they may be small in size, but not small in performance.The speakers feature:- multiple inputs that make it easy to setup your system any way you want it (computer, TV, game console, iPod or DVD player). Anything goes!- 3D stereo surround sound. I played several movies to test this feature, and I was very satisfied with the results.- you get 75 watts (RMS) of power, even from 2-channel audio sources like CDs.The design is also very charmy, and so far I am not able to tell any cons because I have not found any.Logitech has been in the market of computer speakers for long, and it is a company I rely on for computer speakers. The diversity of their products make it easy to find what you need. If you are looking for a surround sound system that is LOUD enough for a large room under the $100, look no further!

I just bought these to hook up to my PC(X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card), and my HDTV/Xbox 360.Setup was a hassle as there are little directions, if you aren't at least familiar with your devices then you may have a problem. All the wires are color coded for input. If you aren't new to technology you should have no problem.Sound quality is very nice, I cranked the bass up and threw on some techno.. for 88 bucks it sounds GREAT. It comes with all the cables you'll need EXCEPT a standard RCA cable, so I couldn't hook it up to my HDTV/Xbox 360. I'll have to buy some separate, no problem really, just a minor inconvenience, most people have these laying around.Only other minor problems include:No wall mounting possible(I taped one of the rear speakers to my bed post, LOL)No remote for sound control with this model.4/5 stars overall, worth the price as I said before. Arrived quickly and was just as ordered.-CW

As far as surround sound goes everything about it is just OK or less. I spent 2 hours trying to adjust the sound to get the rear speakers to sound louder. I have 5:1 capability, even 7:1, but even when I play a music DVD with 5:1 they still aren't loud enough. I tried every adjustment there was, twice, but couldn't get them to sound any louder so basically they're useless. Even when the rear speakers are sitting one foot in front of you the front speakers drown them out. May be just my sound card ain't hi-speed enough but I'm not gonna go spend more money on one to find out. Would be nice if there was a manual volume control for the rears. Front, center, and bass work fine. Now I'm trying to figure out how to reconfigure the placement of the speakers so the fronts are in back, but the wires aren't quite long enough. Probably just end up not using the rears at all. I was going to get a Klipsh 2:1 for $30 more but opted for these instead thinkin surround sound would be cool. Should have stuck with my gut instinct and got the Klipsh's.

Seems like these days your only option for proper sound quality is a 5.1 home theater system. But the decent ones start at $300 and up. So, like many people, I have to buy stuff on a budget every now and then. I figured spending $90 would get me something half-decent. It didn't. Set up is simple enough, but to actually get all 5 channels working is a challenge. Using all the proper connections the most I got was 3 channels and the sub on the PC. By the way, I ran these on WinXP SP3 with Realtek on board audio. From the blu-ray player same deal, but the sound was way better. I would not recommend these for PC at all, even though that's what they're designed for. Just a shame.

Bought this for my dorm room and let me tell you, worth every penny. I could not believe how good of a system it is for such a small price. After I got it, 3 other guys on my floor bought the same one because of the price and quality. It was super easy to setup and sounds great. I use it with my ipod all the time and with my computer when watching movies. Only complaint is that the tv connecter thing does not fit my tv, but I really don't care. If I were you, I would pick this up. Great for small and medium sized rooms.

Pros:- excellent price point for a 5.1 surround-sound system.- easily set-up. Instructions are included with graphics and simple written directions. Took about 15 minutes, without any previous audio experience.- wide range of support for different audio inputs.- sound quality is good: not tinny, 'warm,' and with good bass, treble, and mid response. Subwoof has adjustable bass levels/response.- fills a mid/large sized room with sound (not "lossy").Cons:- 75 watts can be a little 'light' for some applications.- wired rear speakers can be frustrating to deal with (but really not a big deal).Overall:The Logitech Z506 is an excellent entry-level set of surround-sound speakers: the company's really done a wonderful job on creating a high-fidelity, comprehensive sound experience for a reasonable price. These speakers are a great complement to television, music, videos, and video game systems. The variety of inputs allow you to switch between audio sources (I've had mine plugged into my laptop, ipod, and xbox, all to GREAT results!) The unit works such that the subwoofer has all the audio inputs and outputs, and an integrated power supply: it plugs into the wall; one of the front speakers has on/off and volume adjustment. Setup is simple: simply connect color-coded cables and plugs to the rear of the subwoofer. The sound quality is very good; the bass is easily adjustable, and each satellite speaker packs a punch.I'm blown away by this system and very, very impressed. It really is an excellent setup. Logitech has, in my experience, created great electronics - and this is no exception.

These speakers rock!Literally.Setup was a bit iffy--figuring out which cable went where and whether the speakers were to be arranged (is Left Rear speaker to MY left rear? Answer: yes!) and how to keep those long cables for the left and right rear speakers hidden, bit ungainly. The included documentation left something to be desired but setup was definitely not brain surgery.Vista and Windows 7 have a strange sound setup: If you have both headphones (ie. both USB and soundcard) and speakers, you're in for some strangeness. I've found that the OS seems unable to decide where to send the sound when. Regardless, my Vista box found the speakers and configuration was a rather straightforward, wizard-driven operation. Within two minutes ... itunes running, Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" put the speakers through its paces.I need to get my video camera in operation--you simply have to hear it to believe how clear, strong, and full the sound coming out of these speakers are. High fidelity takes on a completely new definition listening to Rihanna's "Umbrella." That sub-woofer will push your feet into dance by force. This is serious sound engineering.After a few minutes of having my entire conciousness overtaken by Metallica's "Enter Sandman," Bach's Cello Suite no.6 brought back the mellow. The range is incredible and all without having to modify iTunes' equalizer although doing so deepens the experience beyond what you'd expect.This one gets five unreserved stars. Could I, I'd give ten![Update: I wonder what the two who didn't like this review found to dislike?]

I got this in $70 and I am quite happy with it's performance. The quality could be a little better though.Note:* Cable length for rear speakers could be shorter than your expectation. I had to buy extension cables for the same.* No optical input. Something that I had to settle for* No remote or control unit; Volume control is on the front right speaker.Still, I highly recommend this product for giving the best bang for the buck.

Bought to use with TV in relatively live acoustic room. Found plentyof power and accuracy sufficient for me - not an audiophile. Onlydrawbacks are first - these are rather unlovely little tchotskiesto behold in one's LR and two, w/o a remote I have to stretchthe controlling satellite tweeter out on its cable of some 8' soI can control the volume w/o getting up during commercials.This will eventually lead to a crises in the unit's continuedresidence in the audio place of honor in my LR. It's niceand small however, I can move it to another loc., repurpose.I wouldn't send it back, though - and I'm capable of returningdubious purchases. Bonus: makes a nice gift for someonewho needs a little boost in the sound quality of theirentertainment audio - you can take right over and installin no time - economically.

Well I got the item within a day of shipping, excited when I got home off work to get it off and running.Well after everything was plugged in, I went to turn the power on, and nothing happened.No light turned on at ALL.I tried 5 different outlets, but no luck!So either the subwoofer or the right front speaker is broken!This is such a huge bummer....Hopefully I can get someone to get back to me on this from Logitech or Your Deal, if not I'm out of $80

After first receiving the speakers, one can immediately see that the packaging and the product itself is of higher quality. Setup is relatively easy, because all the wires are color coordinated. All the speakers are wired so placement options are limited and the longer wires contribute to higher incidence of tangling. The speakers themselves have a good weight to them, have a good feel in terms of material, and seem to be well built. To achieve optimal sound quality, I suggest that you at least have a sound card. If you don't have a sound card, you cannot really experience the sound potential of these speakers. The other side of that argument, however, is that the speakers work well without a sound card just not at full 5.1 surround sound. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I would recommend these speakers to anyone interested in a good quality set of computer speakers.

Item arrived on time, it was in almost new condition but it was not in working condition. When plugged in there was no power light on. I am a tech, inspected everything, circuit board -fried, Sent to trash. I will not be buying in used condition items anymore. Thank You.

These speakers buzz a lot when you turn on the power (even before you connect them to the computer). When listening at a high volume they sound very very good but you just can't enjoy them on low volume. I exchanged them twice but all three sets had a loud buzzing noise. This is a no buy

I bought this product to use with my Xbox360 even though its only stereo with the av cords you couldn't tell the difference from true surround.the bass is bumping the back speakers are loud but a little fuzzy sometimes but its not really noticeable. Its truly changed my gaming experiences.

After having mediocre or craptacular speaker systems for my PC before (read my other review for that headache), I was pretty much just about to give up on the concept of ever having decent speakers for my rig.Logitech set me straight on that. Did I say decent? No, these are beyond that - these are home theater quality sculptures of audio perfection, well above and beyond my expectations. The bass kicks like a soccer player, while the other four speakers deliver crisp, clear sound that just begs to be heard. Easy as pie to set up and no fuss, these are must-get speakers.

They have a good sound without putting down a lot of money for speakers. Sure you can spend more with Logitech and get even better performance. I just did not feel like spending a ton of money this time around for speakers.

Introduction:This is an excellent small space 5.1 surround speaker system. The 75 RMS watts of power will fill a small office or bedroom with very rich sounds. The center speaker clips unto the top of a flat screen monitor, so that you have the sound up close and personal.For its class, I consider this system to be an excellent purchase. One convenience that I appreciate is the fact that your audio inputs can either be RCA (Stereo) or 3.5mm (6 channels).Drawbacks:[1] The four satellites were not designed to be easily mounted unto the wall directly.[2] There is no separate volume controller unit, as in the case of the Logitech X-540. Instead the controls have been placed on one of the satellites. Hence if your speakers are positioned at a distance, it will be a little problematic to get just the right volumes. It might have been better to place the controls on the center speaker, if indeed it had to be placed on a speaker.Conclusion:Overall I think that this is a good purchase.

Quality not there. The big issue was the center channel. The center channel is apparently carried on the same line as the SubW. Well, fine, except the center channel kept switching and coming from the SubW. You can use the setup console to configure all the speakers, mine was from SoundBlaster, but when I played anything the center reverted to the woofer. The small speakers were okay, but I did hear a little crackle coming from one of them. A lot of bother for trouble.

I use my speakers mainly for music and movies, not so much for gaming. I have the Creative X-Fi set to entertainment mode.There are 3 major flaws. First, there was a constant crackling noise. It is audible a feet away which wasn't too bad, but at night it is simply annoying. The bass was another major problem. It is muddy. You won't get the thump thump bass in any of your music. Adjusting the base levels will not make the bass more clear. Finally, like the other reviews, the mid range is horrible. I only heard the highs and the muddy bass. There is nothing in between. With music, mid range is extremely important. You will be missing out so much detail if mid range is lacking.Pros- very nice highs, crisp and clear- looks nice and inexpensive- 5.1Cons- constant crackling noise (ferrite cores won't help)- muddy bass- rear speakers very soft- non-existent mid rangeIf you are a music lover, I would suggest you to invest on a quality 2.1 set. If you are a gamer, maybe you will enjoy this since I didn't find any flaws with playing SCII.The crackling noise does not seem to be an interference problem. It might be the amp or maybe just a defect. That still does not excuse the poor sound qualities.

Speakers were great cost for the sound that comes out. I have a newer PC with Windows 7. Set up was OK however the instructions could have been better. Had to tweak the sound within the sound software which I did not know how to do so that took about 30 minutes to locate. Otherwise I only had 2.1 sound. Know I have 5.1 sound and watching a bluray sounds awesome in my office.Besides the great sound quality I do not have any interference from my Iphone next to these speakers. It has been about a year since I purchased speakers and I had loose them since my phone would always cause noise. With these I put the Iphone right up to them and nothing. That is A++++ in my book.In closing you cannot go wrong with these speakers. The price, the sound, excellent! I think I will get another pair for my home PC.

the system works fine except it was ordered brand new and one of the speakers doesnt work. i called logitech its an awful company. they hung up on me multiple times and refused to give me a new speaker after i proved my purchase. they are low lifes who will do anything to save a few bucks. i wouldnt buy these speakers because now i see logitech is a mess and annoying to deal with. get it from a better company.

I bought these speakers a while ago and so far im just unimpressed. the sound quality is below par for any speaker system. the only reason it got 2 stars instead of one is the subwoofer is OK. Im bummed. I guess you cant win them all, I probably am not going to buy logitech for a while....

I received the Logitech Surround Sound Z506 system last Tuesday and installed it on Wednesday. It was easy to set up on my work PC. The wires provided more than adequate length and the inputs are coded with friendly colors to make sure everything goes in the right spot. The system worked well, and provided quality surround sound (not the best I've ever heard, but still fairly good). The only downside I would have mentioned is that there are no mounting holes on any of the speakers. They worked well for three todays. When I came into work this morning (Monday), the sound had rapidly deteriorated. Now the speakers primarily produce static and popping. I double checked all the connections and even restarted the computer- I can't think of any possible reason for this failure other than the speakers simply being bad.UPDATE:I've since tested the speakers on two other computers. One produced the same results. On the third computer the speakers worked fine. As a tech guy, I really have no idea why the speakers worked fine on my computer, then stopped, and ultimately only work on 1/3 test computers. But for the record, they do appear to occasionally work.

the speakers didn't work on my tv even though it says in the description and box it works on tv. When I ask the seller he said the speakers were mainly made for copmuters !!!so saaaaaaaaaaaaad and I don't use them.

The speakers are very good quality, with good quality sound. the small sub easily shakes my entire room. the only problem, is there are no ways to mount the speakers to a wall. with a few cord extensions though, they are easily worth the money paid.

I got these speakers and was super excited. Got it all unpacked and...nothing. Downloaded the Realtek driver I needed and did the sound test and the 4 little speakers worked but the middle and the woofer did not. Did some adjustments and the woofer didn't work. Hooked up the woofer with RCA jacks to the tv and nothing. Crap right out of the box. The reviews on this set of so called speakers was hit or miss. In my case it was a big miss. The only upside was the return was easy even if the speakers were a load of crap. Waiting on my no name Cyber Acoustic 6 piece set. May be better. If not, Walmart, here I come.

The products claims for work for Mac but only in stereo, not 5.1 surround. In order to get 5.1 on a Mac you'd need a sound card that uses 3 mini-plug system and at this time there isn't one available that works for Mac.The speakers sound amazing for the price. There is a slight buzz when sound is not coming out of them. I read this in some other reviews as well. I called customer service and they weren't helpful or friendly. 3 stars for the 3 speakers that actually work - left,right,sub.I'd probably recommend this to Windows users.

Well, these speakers are ok if you keep the volume at half or less. The subwoofer is easily overdriven. The front speakers don't produce high quality sound. The rear speakers don't produce much at all, even with the test sounds. I've tweaked this product quite a bit to get passable sound out of it & it still falls short of my expectations. The speaker boxes look & feel like cheap plastic. Poor design, sub par performance. These will be in a yard sale as soon as I get some extra cash to buy a better set of speakers.
