This a cool product from Logitech. I had bought the chordless mouse and some of the other products of logitech, But i would say this is the best. So compatible, cute, effecient working, etc, etc....

I got this for my son when he went to college. The webcam has excellent picture and sound quality. It is so small and compact and clips nicely to the notebook itself. Highly recommend!

Before purchasing the "QuickCam® Messenger 2-pack" I was using the more expensive "QuickCam® Pro 4000". Until my dog chewed the wire. Alone one of these web cams sells for 50 dollars, while the "QuickCam® Pro 4000" sell for twice that much, 100 dollars. The price reflects the quality. CONS Unlike the "QuickCam® Pro 4000" this is not USB 2.0 compatible. If your computer doesn't support USB 2.0 then this isn't a big deal. It doesn't have a shutter (lens cover) for privacy. Meaning if you didn't want someone watching you on it, you have to turn it away from you. This might not seem like such a hard thing, but once you've gotten used to using a lens cover, you'll see how unprofessional turning away is. Unlike the "QuickCam® Pro 4000" or other web cams, it doesn't have a swivel base. In fact the base comes unassembled and is composed of a large triangle shape of rubber. What's this mean? If you at all want to change the angle of the camera, you have to use both hands to (forcefully) rotate the plastic prong along the rubber slit. Even then it wasn't high enough to reach my face. I had to prop it up on a CD case for it to be the right height. Also unlike the "QuickCam® Pro 4000" it doesn't have an "on" or "off" light. You won't know when it's on or off. This meaning if for some reason someone gained access to your computer without you knowing (i.e. a hacker) they can watch you on your webcam without you knowing (lack of on or off light) and you can't cover the lens with a privacy cover. Lastly, the straw that breaks the camels back: picture quality. While the frame rate is adequate, the pictures are very "pixilated" and even grainy. Almost as if Logitech purposly added poor video quality as a feature. For those who are used to better quality web cams, this is a major disappointment. Also, after installing the software, I pressed the "take a picture" button on the top of the webcam only to have it instantly restart my computer. It seems if you at all try to take a picture with it outside its mandatory software (either physically pressing the picture button or clicking it on the Windows[R] webcam feature) it either restarts your computer or "glitches" up so horribly you're forced to restart. Not even logging out resets it. At least this is what happens to me. I use Windows XP Professional, and have tried several times even after reformatting my hard disk drive. But if you use the software to take pictures it does work. PROS It has a mike It works when in sync with the software Good for beginners Comes with two 50 dollar cameras for only 80 dollars (saves money) CONCLUSION All in all, I suggest you spend an extra 20 dollars and get fives times a better camera (in my opinion). Get the "QuickCam® Pro 4000" which comes with photograph-like quality picture, a lens cover, swivel turn, working "picture" button, on and off indicator light, and a mike. If you are strapped for cash and want to get you and a friend a web cam, go for it. Just expect less quality, and zero added features outside the mike. Happy Webcamming!

I think this camera was about as cheap as I could find. For my purposes (online spanish lessons), it does the job. The bottleneck is the internet connection, not the camera.

I have owned three other web cams. This is the best. It works first time, everytime.I call it "my little angel." I am ordering another for my daughter who lives 1000 miles away, So I can see her. Her webcam just doesn't hold a candle to this one.

With some tweaking and light control, I can get an OK image out of this camera--nothing great, but clear enough for my occasional use.Had to hunt down spca5xx-kmdl rpm for my Fedora Core 5 x86_64 system, but yes, the camera does work in Linux.

Works fine....pictures are a bit grainy. Better if there is light behind the camera. I can hear and see the person I am talking to and so can they.=)

Perfect size for people who travel around. Easy installation/setup, excellent picture quality, and the best thing is no need to ever focus the camera and with logitech's face traking feature makes it a great buy. Highly recommended.

Camera, mic, drivers, and software all worked fine. The clip will not hold properly on the rather wide edge of the Thinkpad T-series laptop. This caused the unit to constantly slip around and fall off. This is somewhat surprising from Logitech considering popularity of T-series laptops. Logitech Support acknowledged repeated emails but did not offer any solution or resolution.

Can't mention how much I paid for it (amazon policy), but the only reason I got this cam cause it was so cheap (on sale + rebate). I piggybacked it with some other items so I didn't pay any shipping either.Other than that, the other reviewers have summed it up, one thing i'd like to mention is that you can actually remove the outer casing of this cam and you will be surprised to see how small the actual camera is, you can fit it into a mini matchbox.

Beware !! It is a good webcam in the sense that, the picture quality is good. But it heats up like anything. I used it for hardly 30 mins and it heated up to a intolerable limit.I had to disconnect.

The camera works great. It fits well on my HP dv5000. The supplied software is easy to use & install. I have used the webcam on Yahoo IM. Settings allow you to adjust for lighting conditions. It's pretty much fool proof, and the image is good. It comes with a travel case, which is nice.

my old logitech webcam didn't work at the second month i used it:(. this new one works very well and the image is much more clear than the last one. also, i like the build-in mic. the problem is it turns to very hot after only 30mins.

Yes, it is small and wonderful. I was apprehensive about its over heating reviews. Yes, it gets hot but so far that has not impacted its performance. The built-in microphone is powerful enough to pick up sounds from the room so no one really needs to be close to it while speaking. So I never really use the handsfree that came with it.The profile is small enough to carry it in your laptop bag. It easily connects to Instant Messengers as well so you do not need to worry about configuring it to a yahoo, msn or skype.

The quality of the camera is incredible, the images are amazing, the video is pretty clear the sensor is excellent, but it was kind of difficult to fit in my notebook (is a Compaq V2665US) and sometimes it moves from the way I put it. That is the only defect I sow on it.

The camera itself is ok. But the spring that clip on the laptop screen is too tight, it hardly gets on my IBM T-40 and T43P (~0.75 in thickness). I have a QuickCAM pro 5000 at work which works much better, although larger in size. make sure you measure your laptop screen thickness before you buy this camera.

it's doesn't provide great images, but most cmos cams don't (which make it greatly dependent on how lit a room is). as for the grainy quality, that can be easily fixed by the lens adjustment (read the manual ppl).i haven't tried any of the more expensive ones (my last cam was a serial one that's slightly worse than this one). so i set my max rating to 3, and this cam is 3 out of 3. if you can get this for under 10 bucks, then go for it.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 6000 and I had no real trouble whatsoever installing the software and getting the camera to function. During the install routine, it did take what i thought was a good long time to recognize the device after installing the USB drivers (during which time it displayed "no camera found"), but with some patience it found the device after about a minute. Since then, it has worked beautifully with Skype. The integrated audio mic is decent as well; certainly not the sound quality of a logitech headset but perfectly acceptable and heck of a lot more convenient.

Before buying this camera, go to the Logitech website user-discussion forums, and you will see that many users (myself included) have problems when videoconference with this (and other) Logitech webcams. The problem is that during video/audio conferencing over the Internet, the audio will go bad and result in pure static. The only way to resolve the issue is to end the call and start over, or put the call on hold and then resume a few seconds later. This is really annonying as it can happen multiple times per minute. The issue is certainly a HW or SW issue, as it is platform independent and occurs with Skype, MSN, AOL, etc. Logitech aupport has given no feedback on their website, and I will be returning my camera to the buyer or requesing a refund from Logitech for a defective product.

the webcam quality is pretty good, however my husband is having issues with his not working properly and the adjustable clamp doesnt quite fit over a curved surface (like my hp pavilion notebook).

decent picture quality. biggest issue for me is getting it to fit and sit properly on top of laptop screen. i have to place on the slider lock portion just above the screen to have it sit properly. not entirely pleased with the fit. sits loosely on top. would't buy it again for that reason.
