Although this camera comes with software for Mac OS never works in my iBook. Customer services never answered my request about drivers and have not found any on the web. If you have a Mac never try this camera. I lost 60 bucks.

I purchased this cam from amazon.com .really its worthable . i was using this cam regularly to chat with my family members i dont hv any probs so far.It having good clarity , resolution &automatic face tracking is included in this cam. I hope my review will useful to you.

What I ran it on: My computer was a 600MHz AMD, 768MB RAM, 128MB ATI Radeon, running Win98SE, with an AT&T Broadband Internet connection. The Install: The installation appeared to go without a hitch. If you don't follow the very specific instructions that the software provides then you will probably run into problems. The Picture: The picture on the Quickcam Messenger was surprisingly good. The friend I was having a Video chat with through Yahoo Messenger had a webcam from a different vendor that cost about half as much and her picture quality was consistently poor. The Framerate: While recording a video to my hard drive the framerate was more than adequate. Over the internet was another story, but I question whether any other webcam could have done better. Reliability: This is where everything goes bad. In the 60 minutes I spent video-chatting with my friend I had to reboot my computer more than 6 times. Even when I wasn't broadcasting images over the Internet, and simply stared at myself on my desktop, the camera (or software) consistently locked up. The software provided is loaded with bugs and merrily installs itself everywhere on your computer (quick-start toolbar, desktop, program menu). I finally gave up on the camera after 2 days of trying to get it to work reliably (updating drivers and such) and returned it. My guess is the camera works great, but the software was thrown together as an after thought. After un-installing the software my computer has never been the same. I can no longer play Windows Media files and I can no longer run graphic intensive applications. I ended up having to re-format my hard-drive, I used this as an opportunity to install Windows XP... 98 is outdated now anyways. Annoyances: If you bought a monitor, and the monitor manufacturer said "You need to subscribe to a 3rd party service in order to view the Internet through your new monitor." I bet you'd be pretty annoyed. Well that is essentially what Logitech did when they teamed up with SpotLife. You can use the webcam to broadcast video over messenger services such as MSN Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo, etc... But, if you want to broadcast live video from your computer to a web host (as a browser accessible nanny-cam or something) then you'll need to do so through SpotLife. SpotLife gives you a free trial period of course, but the freedom of doing what you want with the streaming images generated on YOUR computer has been taken away from you. Summary: I waited a week after returning my Quickcam Messenger before I wrote this review. I knew that I should let my emotions cool down a little so I could try to write something informative and objective. The webcam may have performed reliably on a system with a different OS and some people might like the idea of SpotLife (it's actually a good idea for people that can't write HTML). If you can buy it from someplace with a flexible return policy then give it a whirl... just have your OS CD handy... for the install... and for when you need to re-format your hard-drive after the un-install.The Bottom Line: I will be buying another webcam, but I'm going to avoid products by Logitech. That's too bad because I used to really like Logitech.

This webcam is really good for this kind of price, as long as you follow the instructions in the book, you have no problems at all, if the picture is blurry, all you have to do is turn the lense to the quality that you want!!..I'm very happy with this webcam, and I do recommended it.

I thought I got a bargain for $25 but this camera is absolutely shocking. The picture is totally blurry. We are not talking about being pixelated, but a complete blur. I can't believe a company like logitech released such a poor product. I'm not sure what the hell went wrong the quality control on this one. STAY AWAY!

This camera has really terrible picture quality. I promptly returned it and picked up a creative labs webcam live, which is soooo much better. I would not even reccomoned this camera as a beginner cam. Somtimes price dictates quality, as is the case with this camera.

I love this webcam. Not only does it clip easilly on my laptop, but the microphone is clear and the picture is sparkeling! You can see the sweat on a person's brow and I wouldn't exchange it for the world!

This web cam needs lot of light, otherwise the image is dark. The video is not very smooth. The good thing is that you can focus and it comes with a very handy ear plug+mic, which is very cute.

This is the first and the last product I buy from Logitech. The picture IS VERY GRAINY AND PIXELATED. Also the colors are AWFUL. I have looked at my friends' cameras and ALL of them (at the same price level) have a much better picture quality. This camera is really, really bad.I twisted the ring near the lens and could bring the picture into focus. It is not blurry... BUT IT IS STILL GRAINY AND PIXELATED! *VERY* GRANY! WORST camera at all!! People who think this camera is good for this price are so naive... Amazing! There are LOTS of cameras for the SAME price which are MUCH better!! It looks like the first cameras introduced years ago. It worths no more than 2 or 3 bucks. Logitech: NEVER more!

The camera is perfect. If using the camera for keeping in touch with friends and family this is the camera for you. The picture is clear not to grainy. The only heads up is lighting. Try to use the camera in a well light area. We are stationed in Japan and use the camera almost daily to spend time with family back home. The camera has added great joy to the family especially when feeling homesick. The best part is the price won't break the bank!

The picture quality is very good for a $30 camera. It sounds like the reviewers who think it is very blurry neglected to twist the ring near the lens which brings the picture into focus. So if you follow the instructions it will work well.

I have used the camera for:1. video conferencing with Yahoo Messenger2. making small size video to send to my parents as an email attachment.Pros:- software with easy and convenient user interface,- sending short video emails is very convenient ,you make the video, press the EMAIL button, the video is automatically compressed and attached to the email, all you have to do is press the SEND button.- price is very low in comparison with other cameras- relatively easy setupCons:- the colors in the video file are desaturated and have a slightly greenish tint.- there is no way to specify what level of compression you want when you attach your video to an email (this one is clearly the bundled software problem). Meaning, you do not have control "video size versus video quality" - it is always compressed to lowest size and as the result the quality is lost, which leaves you with two choices: you can send uncompessed HUGE file with really GOOD quality OR compressed SMALL file with BAD quality.My personal opinion: I am overall very happy with this model.I bought one for me, one for my father, and one for my mother.Despite my mother is not very good with computers, she was able to set it up and use it herself, which is one more big plus.Note, there are two models of this camera on the market. The older model is _really_ bad, and some internet shops could still have it in stock. Make sure you buy the newer one.The one on amazon.com is the good one.

I bought two of these cameras becuase the box shows a picture of the camera cliped to the edge of an LCD monitor. I wanted to clip it to my laptop. The side panel also lists a monitor stand as part of the specs.The package came with no such clip and when I contacted Logitech about it via e-mail, I was told I could buy one from them by calling their 800 number. Instead they'll be returned and I'll buy cameras from a vendor that delivers what they promise.

Quality of the video is excellent on Yahoo messenger. The face tracking is so so. Audio is good on messenger. Works great for video mail through Comcast.You can take a snapshot like a digital cam with a button on the unit (once it is clamped down), or hold it and use like digital cam.This would have been 5 stars if the clamp was worth a crap. It is useless out of the box on my Toshiba A75 laptop. It would have been better just to let it hang on the LCD rather than this clamping design. Velcro here we come!

I bought this camera today and by looking at the box, it looked like the picture quality was excellent, but when I got it home and then started to use it, well that's a whole different story. The picture is really bad, and my old cam's picture is 1000 times better then this one (Ezonics EZ Cam III). I'm going to return this one tomorrow and go back to Radio Shack and get another Ezonics camera. I lost the bottom part to my first camera and figured this would be a good replacement. The instalation might be quick, easy and cost efficent, but the the camera isn't worth the $30 I paid for it. I wouldn't even recomend this to someone I hate. I couldn't fix the picture however hard I tried and whatever I did, everything was always grainy...never again.

Great camera, but it installs entirely too much software before you can use it. Most of my other PC cameras just plug-and-play, but this thing requires so many extra software packages and wants to install so much more that it can end up over-writing your existing instant messengers and other products.I though the whole point of USB was for plug-and-play. All this device really consists of is a camera with a built-in microphone. Logitech needs to borrow a page from the generic makers of the Twinklecam and basically don't try to write their own software.Today you can get these in a two-pack for less than sixty dollars. That's highly recommended, but investigate other cameras that have built-in microphones like the Twinklecam (made by a few Taiwanese makers and sold under many different brands).

After 2 days testing it I quit.It is definately a camera not worth buying. You can get the same results with those cameras selling for $5.If you really need a webcam (what for?), than save some more and get a QuickCam Pro or something alike. Most of the digital cameras now have the webcam feature, so maybe your best bet would be to acquire one.

I agree with whoever said too much software installed. I prefer plug and play, no hassle. I also think the image is awful and I have a pretty good computer system. It had static on image and just did not look clear at all. My 8 year old quickcam had a nice picture so I expected this to be nice also.....no luck!Also, the box says Mac compatible, which I thought was cool since I have 2 systems (WinXP/Mac) and then I get home, go to support website & see it's not for Mac. Huh???In any case, this was returned and I'm getting something different.

Total junk. Installer shut down, forcing a manual installation. Image is grainy, regardless of settings, colors aren't right. Horrible, avoid.

I chose the logitech because it was a brand I had heard of and had decent specs for under 30 bucks. I'm using it so that someone can help me install something and see what I'm doing. It has about the resolution of a modern camera phone. I see some people complain about grainyness. However, you must realize that there is a trade-off with crystal clarity from a webcam and that's that unless you both are on T1 lines you're going to have to SEND all of that clarity and then you'd have severely lagging displays. Be sure the subject is well lit by more of full spectrum lighting (a really yellow lamp looks gross). Unless you're starting a naughty business and if you're just looking for a webcam so that you can chat to friends and go "this is neat" without any severe stipulations on what your demands will be it's just fine. The price is good, the design solid. Suits the average person's needs (webcam thrill will fade and you'll stop using it most likely). If you're going to need to see a loved one stationed overseas or for business use you should probably invest actual money into a quality cam. The stills are lame, get a digicam if you want super clear pics. If you're looking to save dough and enjoy the amusement of a webcam, the logitech quickcam express is a solid model that will perform reliably and clearly enough.

The QuickCam Messenger is one little webcam that is totally affordable and works great. The resolution is 640x480, although the native resolution captured by the chip seems lower as at the maximum image quality is not what you'd expect from a true VGA digital camera. But that's ok. I usually run the QuickCam at a lower resolution, to improve framerate over my DSL connection. What's cool about this model is it has a built-in microphone, so you don't need to fumble with an external mic if your PC doesn't already have one built-in. (Tip: wear headset to avoid audio feedback into the mic, which will confuse the heck out of your chat companion!)The webcam captures decent colors. The key is to have good ambient lighting: place a light behind the camera, not behind yourself! Also don't use a strong light source; something soft works best. The camera provides auto-white balance as well as auto exposure. Focus, however, is not automatic, so you need to manually turn the focus ring to get the sharpest picture of yourself. You can also snap still images of yourself, if that's what you are into.If you run Windows XP, you don't need to install any driver. Just plug in the QuickCam Messenger, and fire up the latest version of MSN Messenger (version 6), which was compiled to work great with Logitech webcams, thanks to some marketing agreement between Microsoft and Logitech. You can also use Yahoo Messenger, but the new MSN Messenger has better video chat than Yahoo's offering. For AOL's instant messenging program, you'll need to install a utility on the companion CD-ROM. I haven't tried it since I don't use AIM, so can't comment on its quality.For other flavors of Windows -- Win 2000, ME or 98 -- install the companion software first before you plug in the QuickCam Messenger. The installer will tell you went to plug the webcam into the USB port.In short, this webcam gives decent image quality (esp. considering the price, before or after rebate) and has the nice touch of a built-in mic. The downside is no auto focus and so-so image quality.Note: There's no support for Macintosh. If you use a Mac, get a Windows XP PC, or you can probably use Virtual PC 6 to make it work.
