This is my second Lexmark printer. The first one was a great all-in-one which I had to replace back in July because it wouldn't work with my new Macbook - unfortunately, no Mac OS drivers available. This piece of junk never worked right to begin with. It came with a broken printhead. After I had contacted Lexmark customer support in the US and in Germany (Lexmark US doesn't ship replacement parts APO - what a joke!), I finally received a new printhead along with a new set of cartridges. I was happy until I tried to print out a couple of photos several weeks ago. The images had fine lines and smears all over them just like before.Even simple black and white printouts have now become unsatisfactory (grayish instead of solid black). Today I decided to give it another try. I exchanged the black ink cartridge and ran the "align printhead" command. While in the process of aligning the printhead the printer dumped half a cartridge of cyan ink (no kidding!) all over my document and my desk. What a mess!!I'll never consider buying another Lexmark printer ever again! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this one!

This printer promised so much. It sounded like a great combination of features and price. But then after a few weeks of use we noticed how super-glitchy it was.+ The software never works.+ We have to power-cycle it once a day.+ It's got all kinds of bugs (which is probably why OfficeMax was offering such a great discount).+ Scan-to-PDF function stopped working after the first week.+ Lexmark also installs some kind of software on your laptop (for troubleshooting) and it can't be removed or disalbed without accessing the registry settings on your laptop.+ The troubleshooting install opens up a gaping security hole on your laptop.+ Ink modules go bad very quickly (and not from lack of ink but just for no reason at all).+ Ink cartridge leaks all over the inside of the printer, creating a huge mess.+ When ink cartridge has issues, it shuts down all printer functions. You're stuck with an error message and Lexmark prevents you from using any of the other functions, like scan to email or faxing).In short, this is the worst printer I've ever purchased. Just a plain ol' P.O.S.!

Have had this printer for about a year and while it functionally meets all the stated specifications, there are a number of fundamental issues that make it about to go in the trash...1) Color management - every application produces a different color profile and in general the colors do not match my (calibrated) monitor2) Paper handling - anything thicker than a regular piece of paper winds up with "bites" or chunks taken out of it where the printer grabs the paper. This is especially true of photo paper.3) Print quality - no matter what you print, especially at high quality settings, you get striping which I assume aligns to the width of the print head.The combination of these issues make this the worst printer ever. Now, it's also a scanner and a copier... so if that's what you want, go for it. But, get ready to be frustrated.

I have been a user of Dell and HP printers since my first computer however when my last HP failed I decided to try the Lexmark Prevail 705 due to its 5 year warranty. Unfortunately I have experienced numerous problems in the first year of ownership. The service department is friendly however I don't have time to keep dealing with the problems as my printer is used for my business more than personal. My latest issue is that I get an error message telling me that Lexmark's black cartridge is not compatible with photo paper. Lexmark sent a new Feb 2012 software update,that I have installed, however nothing has changed. I am sure they will continue to work on the problem however I am at the point that I will likely buy another HP or Dell (depending who has the lowest cost of ownership since I use a great deal of ink) and keep this as a back up or donate it to a non-profit organization.

The reason I really like my Lexmark 901 is the free customer service. I have had the unit almost three years and when I have a problem I can call Lexmark and they provide free live tech support that always solves the problem. Other printer companies I have dealt with charge a hefty service fee after first year or whatever.

First, I am a gadget/power user of electronics of all types. I'll add more to this as time goes on, but for now I will say this is a solid 5 star investment. This is being used to supplement a high end Ricoh color MFP at my office that goes on the fritz from time to time and leaves with 100% down when it does.Bought for under $200 here at Amazon, took one day to receive (overnight). Un-boxed and set-up in less than 45 minutes. THE KEY to success in set-up is doing things per the instructions, in order. CD install, driver install, then plug in, add ink, continue with set-up instructions. I am running a Lenovo T61 (XP Pro SP3) here at the office with, from time to time, a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.4), so I set-up both laptops to print, scan, email, "N" Wireless network, etc. The copy, scan and print quality is as good as any other inkjet that I have worked with, the last was a HP6180, died with the "yellow cartridge of death" syndrome, to me it was a total waste of money.This has some really great tools under Lexmark Smart Solutions, scan to emails, scan to Mobile Me, print graph paper, etc., pretty cool, online set-up of this customization was a breeze. Lexmark offers a cartridge recycle program online when you register the printer that provides free return shipping and a free cartridge for every 5 you recycle or buy from them, price is the same as the big 3 office centers. Good idea. Register this device, the warranty is second to none and service was great. I had an online chat before receiving the printer (order placed, not delivered) and I was concerned that one reviewer wrote that they "hate" this printer since it does not scan using Apple OSX 10.6, NOT TRUE. Tech support assured me it would work, ok. I have an Intel based 10.6.4 MacBook Pro, scan looks great (first thing I tried)....maybe the other reviewer did not set-up properly, or they are using 10.6.4 with a PowerPC processor (possible?). The card scan to Outlook works great too, I collect a certain amount of business cards in my day to day and used to hate typing info into Outlook by hand...now, using XP, I can scan them all in automatically, works great.Regarding print costs.....it is on average with ALL other inkjet printers, black is a bit less expensive. I know printers, I worked for and now support one of the largest printer manufacturers in the world and print costs are dependent on what you are printing, the type of paper you print on, and the coverage.Overall, a robust printer with today's technology being utilized across the product. I really like it.

Printer has great functionality and a great price. Would reccomend to anyone that needed a multifunction printer.Was easy to install and works well with a network of 10+ PC's and an IBM iSeries.

I had purchased 4 of these printers for our office and they have dramatically reduced what our office was paying for toner. The Lexmark e360dn has replaced our Brother HL-2170w printers which were burning through toner at an alarming rate, despite using the old duct tape over the toner sensor window trick. Our office was having to change out toner on a weekly basis on the Brothers. After much research, the e360dn was one of the only printers which I could find an estimate of the number of pages you could expect from a standard toner. It really is night and day with the toner savings and you do not have to sacrifice the quality of the output (reducing dpi, coverage, etc).I would definitely recommend this product as a general use printer in small-medium sized businesses. The only problems I have come across is with one printer that seems to regularly get paper jams, possibly due to a roller issue. Aside from that the problems are few and far between. I have had some issues using the XL drivers and printing PDF's where sometimes the output is garbled, two-lines per page gibberish which I have seen before with other printers and probably is more of a problem with the driver configuration or Adobe itself. Easily corrected by choosing the post script driver. Also, the software for installing the printers could be a little more intuitive. Other than that, a great buy!

I had mine for almost 10 years and it still worked great until my wife bought me a wireless one. if not for that, I would still be using mine. I never used the fax feature, so I can't rate it, but I (obviously) printed with it and used the scanner ALL the time. Great quality!

I bought the printer two years ago for my small business, and this is the fourth or fifth time (I've lost track) the print head has died. So it doesn't matter how well or poorly it does anything else, or how good it might look! Will never even consider buying a Lexmark again.

4-2012 Updated review: When the printer goes to sleep mode the LCD panel doesn't shut off but makes a strange graphic..not the original with all the icons displayed, but...mysteriously the printer is mostly working now via Wifi like when it was new and the $5 black ink cartridges are working great so we're mostly ok with the printer now.Printer was pretty straight forward to setup. Printing via wireless was great!! It was a little noisy printing but I didn't mind because it was pretty fast. We replaced the color cartridges ($55) around month 8 and the picture quality was never the same. The black ink also was replaced but only cost $5. That was nice.But around month 6 the wifi connection stared acting flaky. Signal was strong..only 8 feet from the router.. the PC could "see" the printer on the net but couldn't print to it. I'm a tech guy so I followed all the online troubleshooting FAQs, network debugging, numerous forums..etc with no real solution.Maybe I got a lemon? But I've spent too many hours troubleshooting this device to recommend it to anyone nor let it waste any more of my time.So if you want a printer that prints sometimes when it feels like it and many times not, this is the one. Once we run the color cartridges dry I will be throwing out this 9 month old printer and will never purchase a Lexmark again.

This thing has been the biggest headache ever. It continually has printer head alignment problems, drinks ink by the gallon, and is absolutely worthless as a wireless printer. And forget about easily upgrading operating systems; if you even utter Windows 7 within earshot of this thing, it requires a reinstallation. Sad because I've had decent luck with Lexmark in the past. I'm moving on--and moving up--to something else. Good riddance.

i bought the printer for home office use and chose it for several reasons. 1. because i deal with a lot of documents on legal size paper, i needed a printer, scanner, copier that had a feeder that would accept legal size. 2. i especially liked the idea of $5 black ink (i almost always use the quick print or draft setting when i'm not printing anything of importance. saves even more money on ink.) 3. price. 4. wireless capacity was an extra added bonus.later, when my main office decided to open a small satellite office in my town, i suggested that we purchase this printer. (it had served me well for the few weeks that i had used it at home.) it would be used by myself and one other person. we use the wireless function, however we have had a few episodes of the printer "freezing". we called for tech support and it was fixed each time. not sure of the problem....it could have been a router issue or even an issue with my co-worker's computer. it seems to freeze only when she is using it??????? i've not had the freezing problem with the printer in my home office.as for user friendly....i give it an A++++. speed....maybe a B or C. kind of slow to recognize the print signal. however, i would purchase again.

This is the worst printer I have ever owned. I have already had to get a replacement for the first Lexmark I bought. Despite many HOURS with Lexmark tech support on a NUMBER of occasions I still don't know whether the next time I try to print something, I will actually be able to. It was on sale for $99 and promised many great features, including the 4 typically found in an all-in-one, so I bought it. My older printer didn't have a fax. After many calls to tech support - which usually solved the problem, but not quickly or easily for things such as paper jams and that the printer would only copy and not print. It prints color photos of pretty good quality - when I am able to use it. Calls to tech support require pulling a little black box out of the back (which is very hard to do) and then performing several maneuvers suggested by the tech support person. This printer in the short 4 months I've owned it has required several new printer drivers. Each time the driver is changed, the machine has to be re-programmed so that it will print when you want it to. Re-programming the printer is complicated and generally requires a call to tech support. I used to be able to hit "print," step away from the machine and have available the copies I had requested when I returned. Now, printing requires several maneuvers, often including deleting the current job several times - until the printer is engaged. I have also had to call tech support about the wireless feature which sometimes cuts out. Also, the design is flawed: the machine is black and the function buttons are barely visible except with a flashlight. Added to all this is the fact that this printer is the slowest one I have ever owned and that includes the ones I owned years ago. A number of manuals come with the printer- one for each function- but often don't really help enough to avoid a call to tech support. There is no such thing as pushing one button and getting the copy, printed page or photo. Each of these operations often requires several steps. The machine presents far too many options for the average print job. I'm giving this machine one more chance; the next time it ceases to function I plan to leave it on the curb marked, "Free. Works - sometimes."

Worst printer I ever owned. I print many tax returns so I needed a fast printer. It's fast but stops regularly without any indication why. Panel lights are useless; never indicate why it malfunctions; and it malfunctions 1 out of every 4 returns. Can only feed one envelope at a time and has about a 50% success rate on those. I exchanged it for another one and had exact same problems. Oh and it's power supply will disrupt you monitor while printing. Can't wait to get my HP Lazer Jet repaired so I can drop this Lexmark off a cliff somewhere.

This piece of you know what is one of the worst printers I've ever used. It's cheap, $100, and its not worth 20 bucks, so if you think you are saving money, you are not. My advice, is shell out a few more dollars and get something that doesn't break down all the time.

Laser, color, fax, duplex printing, scanning and faxing, quick copier. I tried Epson, HP and Canon. This is by far the best, most solid, friendly and easier setup. Prints very good too.

Will never buy a Lexmark again, purchased because printer ink was low cost and is suppose to last longer, but EVERYTIME I go to print I have to unplug the power connection. It also will not send documents via email with out jumping through of hoops. Bad Bad Bad product.

The Lexmark Pro 901 printer is a fantastic printer - especially for my needs, which is simply home printing. I primarily print documents, coupons, recipes, and a few other basic things, so my review is strictly on a home needs' basis - not so much as a business printer.My findings thus far have been extremely positive. Setup was a breeze. You must keep the printer near the computer for setup (I'm noting this because I keep my computer in the family room, and my printer in a back room so as to not take up much space). The setup takes about 20 minutes, and is extremely straightforward. In order to connect to your wireless network, you will need to use the included USB cable, but once your printer finds the network, you are free to unplug and move to any location you choose.After moving my printer to a room approximately 30-35 ft. away from the computer, I began testing the printing capabilities. The printing quality, while not the best, is definitely acceptable for my standards, but I wouldn't exactly say that it's the sharpest print out there. After tweaking some settings with the extremely sharp touch screen, I was able to set the printer display to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity, which was necessary, as the printer's location is in the guest bedroom. Copying pages worked smoothly and without any glitches. Scanning directly to my computer also was a simple experience. Using the touch screen on the printer, I was able to send a scan directly to the computer as a PDF (you can choose several different file extensions, such as a jpeg as well) over my Wi-Fi network. I cannot comment on the faxing capabilities, as I don't have a home phone line.Pros:- Extremely affordable ink costs ($5 per black ink cartridge = awesome!)- The ability to continue printing even though one ink cartridge is empty- The size (it's actually way more compact that my previous Epson All-In-One)- The print speed- Super bright touch screen- Feature-rich OS- Wi-Fi works perfectly (at least for me)Cons:- Setup was a bit confusing at first - install the software, and then turn on the printer - instructions appear on the LCD screen - I spent a few minutes looking for a setup guide that wasn't included in the instruction packet - once I figured out that the setup instructions were on the LCD screen of the printer, setup went extremely smoothly.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this Lexmark Pro901 printer - It does the job extremely well, and looks really cool while doing it! I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone looking for a sleek, low-operating-cost, wireless printer - I would say to look no further!

I've had this printer for about a year and a half. At first, I liked the printer and the features that it had, but it just seemed to get worse and worse. I regularly have to clean the printhead, far more than I would expect. But unless I do that, it prints poorly. It has a lot of connectivity problems. Often, the computer just can't print to it. I reset everything, and then it works. It should be able to stay connected.I try to keep the software and firmware up to date, and I notice them fixing things in new releases from having problems go away. However, virtually every new code drop has also introduced a new bug. I am not impressed with their software quality control. For now, I'm not ready to buy a replacement printer, but I'm also not happy being stuck with this one. I definitely will be replacing it before too much longer, and the new one definitely will not be a Lexmark - it's just been too bad of an experience.

I love this printer. It can scan, fax, and copy. It has a two drawer paper holder. And automatic scanner. The best feature is the $5 black ink. Be careful with the top. It can fall off when lifted too high. That is how I broke my previous one.

It looks great - all kinds of wonderful bells and whistles. But it doesn't print. The ink runs out after a couple pages. Or if you let it sit idle for a week or two, you'll still have plenty of ink left, but it refuses to print. Or the color ink is completely full, but no amount of tweaking, rebooting, or anything else will get those color cartridges working again. And I just replaced them 6 weeks ago.I thought this was going to be a great product, but it's been a big disappointment and is costing me a lot of time and energy trying to find ways to get it to do the most basic print job.
