Works perfectly on my Dell Dimension 9100, Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630, running Windows XP. Plug and play... once I plugged the card in all the way ;-) !!! Needed to replace a faulty OEM integrated ethernet port when I upgraded to FIOS router. Was getting by on a USB connection with old DSL modem.Being a technonumnutz I was willing to pay a premium to minimize hastle, and I needed a card that would work 32 or 64 bit since I was not certain which I had. I share my particular challenges for anyone as incompetent as myself:first had to remove an unused fax card to open up a slotsecond failed to plug in the card all the way. I mention this because the system diagnostics showed the card working fine, but interestingly listed it as a different card! After nothing else worked I took the cover off and reinserted the card again. Problem solved.

Got it in the mail quickly installed it (plugged in to mobo) and win 7 pulled up all drivers without a hitch. Bridged my connection and works just how I wanted it to.

I had been using the onboard LAN and it was getting somewhat slow.I had read that this card was pretty decent, but some said it wouldn'twork for W7Pro-64. Well it does. I loaded a Vista 64 driver for thiscard, disabled the onboard LAN in BIOS, and it was picked up as soonas unit was completely booted. It does come with an installation CDfrom Intel, but the Vista driver for 64 bit seemed to do the trick.It is faster. I can tell and I'm liking that part of it very much. Iuse Ver*zon DSL at 768 or whatever the transfer is and that's good enoughfor me. I DON'T care for the price in comparison to the speed of transferI picked up, but that is not Amazon's fault, that's all about Intel's wallet.It's ok, and I would of given it a 5 star, but the price being what it isand what I getting out of it.....it only rates 4, though I do admit if Ihad a faster transfer rate it would probably be a much more satisfyingadd-on and DO recommended it for anyone who wants a half way decentcard.Amazon as usual, handled my order with the professionalism I'm accustomedto, that's why I'm a return customer.

The cards install easily, but I had to uninstall the old software before the new software would install. Once done, the cards worked well.

This adapter works with VMware ESXi 4.1. This was the reason I got the card and it work fine otherwise too.

Very easy installation, quality looks good, Windows 7 recognized it instantly and installed the drivers without issue. However this adapter would not connect to our router, a fairly new router at that. After hours of checking and rechecking every possible problem, I stumbled across the answer. This LAN adapter will not work properly with a Windows 7 64bit PC with more than 3gb memory. Once I pulled 1gb of memory, viola! We were up and running.We are returning this one and trying a different manufacture. Sadly becuase quality on this Intel LAN looked good.This review is in case anyone else is experiencing the same problems.

My desktop had some crappy realtek network driver and ESXi wouldn't boot. I did some research and people said "get a real network card" so I did and once I put it in, I was able to turn a junky desktop to a nice ESXi server!

VMware would not install on my Lenovo TS200v with vmkctl.HostCtlException: Unable to load module /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod/vmfs3: FailureThe TS200v has an Intel PRO/1000 Ethernet onboard, but it is too new and VMware does not recognize it. I installed this old Intel PRO/1000 GT card and that allowed me to install VMware.

My computer is a bit older and running on XP. I was not able to use the adapter until I went to Intel and downloaded the driver. Runs perfectly.

Like another reviewer, I purchased this to install on a custom built machine to be used as an VMWare ESXi Server and it worked great! Threw it in there, started the install and worked flawlessly.

Setup was a piece of cake in my 7.5 year old computer running XP Pro. Product works as expected. it's only hooked up to fast ethernet for the next couple of weeks, but I don't imagine I'll have any issues with that. I'll repost if I have issues.

My network adapter died a sudden death so I purchased this Intel as a replacement. It was easy to install and when I booted up it connected me to the internet with ease and no delay. Can't ask for more. It did exactly what I needed and what is was designed to do. I highly recommend this item.

My integrated port on the motherboard stopped working and nothing I could do would fix it, so I sprang for this for one of my slots. Have to say it works very well out of the box (using Ubuntu 10.4 and Windows 7). Not sure if it is my imagination, but it actually seems to run faster and give me less problems than my old one, but then again the old one (integrated) died, so perhaps it was always acting a bit odd. Either way, for the price I think it's very well worth it.

From everything I read about this Intel network adapter card, it should have worked well with my computer on which I had recently installed Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. However, when I had trouble getting it to work correctly after a normal install, I searched the Intel support website, only to find that Intel supports only a very few of their network adapter cards under Windows 7 64-bit, and this is not one of them. While I accept it as my mistake that I bought the card without checking the Intel support site for compatibility before I made the purchase (the Amazon product descripton provided no indication of Win 7 compatibility), I strongly suggest that anyone planning to purchase an Intel network adapter check the Intel support site for compatibility with Windows 7 before pulling the trigger.

In my family we have a network which has grown and grown. Our LAN has become increasingly significant to us. We recently upgraded our primary switch from fast ethernet (10 / 100 ethernet) to gigabit ethernet (10 / 100 / 1000 ethernet).The majority of our older PC's couldn't support gigabit ethernet. We were using the old ethernet capability which came with the PC's (the integrated ethernet on the PC motherboard). These older PC's supported fast ethernet, which is slower than gigabit ethernet.When looking for a new gigabit card to upgrade these PC's, my goal was not only gigabit speed, but also overall performance, then price.There is no shortage of inexpensive ethernet cards, not only here at Amazon, but at other online stores (who shall remain unnamed :). Few had the high reviews of this intel ethernet NIC, and few seemed to claim performance enhancing technology.The price for this card is slightly higher than other gigabit cards, but we have noticed a performance improvement even when using fast ethernet (the old ethernet). These cards can offload some of the overhead your PC CPU would normally handle. The result is an improved internet and LAN experience.These are small PCI OEM cards. At first I thought they were missing status LED's as there were holes in the back where LED's usually sit. It turns out the LED's are flat on the card and shine through the holes in the metal on the back.I downloaded drivers for this card from the intel.com website before installing them. It was necessary to have drivers for this card before switching over to it on Windows XP Home. Windows Vista immediately installed drivers on boot, as did the Windows 7 RC.While I don't use Linux, this card has extensive Linux support, great Windows support, and is overall a well built ethernet device. I would purchase again in the future is new cards were needed.

Short of some exhaustive performance test I don't know how much there is to say about a NIC. This is the low profile model, so make sure you order the right thing. I ordered the regular ones initially before noticing that my Dell desktops took the low profile cards. Linux has no problem with these.

The embedded NIC failed on an older box. This card just popped in and with Linux UBUNTU I could use it immediately.No driver needed to be installed.

Our computer's network connection failed a few days after a big lightning storm. Once I figured out it was the network connection on the motherboard (out of warranty)I started looking for the least expensive way to get back on the network. This board was the perfect solution. I'm very happy with the ease of installation and the 1GB speed. Great value and performance!

I bought this as a replacement, after my onboard LAN died. Popped it in, booted up, and it was ready to go. This card definitely works in Windows 7. I'm using Win 7 64-bit, and it was automatically detected. I actually don't even think I saw the driver being installed upon detection. It just worked.

This was an easy to install and use NIC. I was initially disturbed by the lack of a driver cd in the package. However, upon the easy recognition of the part by all of the multiple OSes I used on it, I rejoiced to discover that there were no problems.

Runs absolutely fantastic, I have been putting so much torrenting traffic through this(legal mind you, FreeBSD server torrents, ubuntu server), and I get 1ms ping to it, my old nic got 20ms and stuff... absolutely fantastic. The Linux Kernel saw it instantly, buying another for Pfsense(freebsd router).Highly recommended.

As the title says there are no official win 7 drivers although the ones it comes with work fine. When you run auto update it thinks you have a card for win 2000 pro when I have win 7 home premium? Also it is very small so it would not fit in my desktop because the out metal was very small almost laptop width and so i had to bend it out of the way to plug it in to the slot!!! Works great just the hardware issue and drivers are what took a star away!

It's an Intel NIC can you even ask for more. I wanted to use this NIC on a Windows Server 2008 x64 file server the drivers on the Intel web site specify x64 as being supported, however I could never get the NIC to appear under Server 2008.I am still using it but on another server that runs on x86.

I bought this because my Striker II integrated NIC on my Vista 64 would continually (a couple of times a day) bug out with "losing its default gateway". I also noticed that opening a large set of tabs in Mozilla was pretty slow.The Intel card installed simply and didn't even require an additional driver (in Vista 64). I have had no further problems and can tell a difference on page load time with ~8 tabs opening concurrently.The Intel had a great price, easy install, and performs flawlessly on my 100 Mbps network.

This network adapter was purchased to replace an old and defective 100mbit network card. This card installed flawlessly into my Linux PC and almost installed automatically. The setup for this device was very straightforward and I know that I can rely on the Intel brand to stand up in terms of quality and longevity.I would highly recommend this card to anyone who runs a Linux PC and who needs a network card. While I cannot vouch for this card working in a Windows OS environment, I'm rather confident that if it can run in the Linux environment, it can run just as flawlessly in Windows.

I bought this card to install in a machine to do a diskless boot. Works fine, no issues, fit into the case perfectly, pxe rom worked as expected.It is supported by the ubuntu 8.10 kernel using the e1000 driver, doing diskless boot. The pci express version though had to add the e1000e driver to load as a module and update the image.

They may eventually turn up but this would not work with my Windows 7 PC. I tried internet searches but ended up in dead ends. Especially when there are cheaper cards with driver support, go find another card.

If you need a network card that is compatible with every operating system on the planet, you've found the right one. Frustrated with poorly written drivers or unexplained network issues? Again, trust the Intel PRO NIC. They are my choice for iSCSI connectivity. Save the Marvell and Realtek chipsets for your home PCs.

I have a Dell Dimension that I bought in 2002 and for a long time suspected a bad network card. After doing some research on various options, including reviews of network adapters on Amazon, I purchased the Intel PRO/1000 GT PCI adapter. It was easy to install. I downloaded the software before I installed the adapter. Turned on the computer and XP took care of the rest. My internet connections have never been better or faster. Great product!

Just a quick note that this card ships with no instructions and no real official packaging. And really you do not need either of them based on the fact its really a plug it in and it will work device.Works with WIN7 no issues so far

Piece of crap network card does not come with a driver disk and Win XP Pro won't recognize it. And of course if you install the card you can't go online to get the drivers because the card won't work without drivers. What a waste of time and money.

The assembly and soldering of this NIC are flawless. I will be using it ina 3E Ghz Pentium 4 ASUS with the TRENDnet TWG-BRF114 Firewall Router I'vepurchased from Amazon.com and bet it will beat any other mfr. card at thesame speed.This is what to expect from a world-class mfr. like Intel with state-of-the art production, components and quality control. I will also try theirnetworking products for workstations and servers I will build next.

We transfer large graphic files (and collections, sometimes) from one machine to another. At 100Mb on a LAN network, hit enter and take a nap.At 1GB our transfer speed is 2 to 2.5 as fast.This is not 1Gb -- Speed is limited by the harddrive, CPU, etc. Not the cards fault.Put one in each connected machine, connect the high speed cables, and forget it. No problems at all.

I just received my NIC yesterday, installed it today in my computer which did have Windows 98 but I replaced with Unbuntu 8.10. The network card connected me to my cable network without my having to even download the drivers from the CD. Wow, that was easy!!!

There are several different network interface cards that can be described as Intel Pro/1000 GT Desktop Adapters. The Intel PWLA8391GT, PWLA8391GTBLK, and PWLA8391GTLBLK NICs all have the same electronic specifications. The "BLK" cards come in packs of 20, though they may be sold individually.The card advertised here is the GTLBLK. The "L" after "GT" stands for "Low Profile," meaning that this card has a smaller form factor than a regular PCI card. Unless you are sure that your PC has a low-profile Micro-ATX or Flex-ATX or 2U case that requires low-profile cards, don't buy this low profile NIC, buy a standard sized PWLA8391GT or PWLA8391GTBLK.This card is not a server adapter, as another reviewer asserts. The Pro/1000 cards were designed as desktop adapters, as their product description indicates. The other reviewer also says that these cards do not run in PCs, but of course they do: they run in small PCs designed for small PCI cards.The Intel Pro/1000 GT cards are great NICs, well supported and documented, very fast, extremely reliable, and amazingly inexpensive. They will communicate perfectly well with your 100Mbps NICs, until you upgrade everything to gigabit.

I'm fairly technical, and I tend to work with standard products that I know are reliable. Intel is one of the brands that I never have to worry about, whether it's an Intel motherboard or an Intel network adapter.In this case, I had three of my systems being operated and maintained at an off-site facility, and I brought them back into my own facility. Some one of the maintenance guys at the off-site facility had swapped out my Intel adapter for a NetGear adapter on one of the systems (I have no idea why), and I didn't immediately notice the change. After having a tough time getting my system, high speed cable network, and DIR-655 router working together, I narrowed the problem to the system's network adapter.I purchased the Intel PWLA8391GT from Amazon at a good price, received it in a timely fashion, and after installing it on my troubled system, everything worked well.Intel makes good products. This is one of them.

This card works wonderfully, and the performance is great.However, I accidentally ordered the low-profile version of the card, rather than the full-height version of the card -- so my installation was a little hackneyed. Make sure you order the correct size for your case.

I replaced a built-in (on motherboard) Ethernet 10/100 network connection with this Intel Pro/1000 (gigabyte) network adapter with no problems. The speed seems much better and the install procedure was easy. New updates are available via Microsoft Windows Update procedure.. I even bought 3 more of these adapters to replace the network adapters in my other computers...
