So very glad I spent the extra money on picking up an SSD for my main drive. I also have a back-up HDD for mass storage, but I'm running OS/all games/all main programs off this SSD and its about 80-85% full and boot time is less than 15 seconds. I will never go back to just an HDD thats for sure! Highly recommend this product to those buying SSD's

Installed a 120GB 520 series in my 2011 Mac Mini Core i5. Boot time from the "Ding" is about 10 seconds to desktop. iPhoto has no lag opening pictures or projects. Other tasks that would make the cursor pinwheel do not happen now. I also have 8GB of RAM so this little mac is moving along nicely.Highly recommend this drive for its speed.

I can't say that this works that well. I installed this into my desktop, and the transfer went without a hitch. The honeymoon was over the first night. The drive would continually hang for minutes on end and then resume. Eventually, it would hang and would require a hard reboot. My word of advice would be to wait until a new firmware revision comes out to address this issue or better yet wait for the revised SandForce controller to come out in the fall. I replaced it with a Samsung 830 256GB which Amazon also carries. So far that has worked without a hitch. NB: The drive is not AES256 compliant as claimed by Intel. Apparently it is a controller issue.

I bought 520 series Intel drives for all of these partly because of the 5-year warranty, and partly because I have some confidence that Intel products will integrate well with my other components. So far, I have no complaints, and having a responsive computer wherever I've working has been a very good way of reducing my stress level!

The boot-up time for Windows 7 64 bit is now 20 seconds.The 240gb has the highest advertised performance speeds, and is the optimal purchase in terms of price/mb.Add to that the 5-year warranty, which appears to be the longest in the industry, and it is a purchase that keeps me resting well at night, knowing my data is being stored on media that is faultless.

I created a system image of my laptop, replaced the existing hard drive with the SSD drive and installed the system image with the Windows (7 - 64 bit) Repair Disk. I booted the laptop and it worked great... no problems. Boot time was appx 20-25 seconds. Outlook starts up in seconds rather than at least a minute with the old drive. The SSD is fast even considering my (older) laptop has a SATA-150 interface.

I up graded to the Intel 320 series from a raptor and the speed is amazing. The migration software worked great. In the 8 mo's that I have been running it I have had no issues what so ever. Very quick boot up, and it loads BF3 & MW3 much faster than the Raptor. I am runnng aAsus M4a79t delux MBWin 7 64 bit8 gig Reaper Rammamd phenmon 2 955 quad core 3.21 ghcXFX Radon HD 6970 2gb gddr5 graphics cardan Intel 160 gb 320 series and a raptor as a back up drive and have another intel HD on the way2 lite scribe DVD trays w burnerall nice tucked into an Antec 900 series mid tower case.(I know what your thinking but with good wire mmngt. and 5 fans I am running around 50c)OK Quick update. I ordered another one of these from Amazon last week and did not read the fine print. The est. delv. date is MARCH 16th. Thats 3 weeks folks!!! Had I known it would take so loooooong I would have paid $8 more for it from someware else and gotten it within a week. Thanks Amazon.!!!!!

To install this hard-drive as a boot drive was very easy on my PC running Windows 7 in 64bit. Actually is a Dell XPS 720 where I updated the OS.I cloned the old hard-drive using the software provided for free by Intel; then I removed the old boot drive and I place the Intel 520 drive. The old drive was inserted in a secondary bay. When I started the system it booted from the new drive. Then I formatted the old drive using Easeus Partition Master that you can download for free and that's it.This Intel 520 is very fast at boot time and data transfer using eSATA ports for external hard-drives.Great product so far! I bought the 240Gb version! Want to buy more to replace the hard-drives in my laptops.

The drive failed after 9 months of use inside my Mac Mini 2011. Treated it well, used OS to restart most of the time. When these drives die the data is unrecoverable so keep backups at all times. I had the latest firmware, applied it months ago, but it did not prevent this problem. These drives have a problem, and there's no reliable solution right now. Intel will replace it, but they can't replace the data or the 2 days it will take me to remove/replace the drive, then reinstall and configure my Mac and Windows partitions and all my software and data.

This drive bricked for me. Broken after about a month and a half of use. The frustrating part is that there are TONS of reports of this on the Intel Support site with regard to this issue up to today ([...]), with no actual answers or fixes.Maybe going to try a Kingston...

OK, let's make this simple. SSD drives have three important qualities: speed, reliability, and cost. At least one will always be "not as good" as the competition. In this case, these Intel 520 drives are more expensive than the competition.But if you need reliability and speed and can afford to pay slightly more these drives are absolutely worth it. To me, my data's reliability is most important, with speed in second position. These drives are top of the line in those two areas. I don't mind paying a little more for the impressive quality built into this drive.Just buy it!

I ordered the Intel 520 SSD (60GB) and at the bottom of the page, Amazon recommended the 'SILVERSTONE SDP08 3.5 to 2 X 2.5-Inch Bay Converter '. The price of this product was just $8.99 so I decided to purchase it. I didn't know that shipping on this item was $8! That's almost the same price as the product itself. When the order arrived with both the SSD and the Bay Converter, I found that Intel already ships the SSD with a Bay Converter. So essentially, I paid $17 and got stuck with a bay converter that of no use to me. I'm sure the SSD is great but please do not purchase the Silverstone product separately if you are buying the SSD also.

Have had several different brands of SSD's in the past and had many problems with them. So far the Intel brand SSD's are definitely worth the extra cost. solid design and a noticable increase in speed over OCZ or Crucial.

I've bought the new 180GB drive. Installation was easy. Did clean Win7x64 installation. Drive is blazing fast, however it is causing system crashes. Some people reporting BSODs, but on my system it was complete halt with black screen. Tried to install it into different bays - no success.It's a nice drive, however it is completely useless for my system.

If you don't apply the update and your computer has a power glitch, the cable gets loose, etc and the drive will WIPE ALL THE DATA IRREVOCABLY.There is a firmware update available at Intel's site ([...]) and you can read about the problem at [...].On a somewhat related note, I heavily recommend using something like Amazon Clouddrive or Dropbox to archive your data to a remote server or an application like Allway Sync to automatically back up your data every time you shut down your PC. I use Allway to back up "My Documents" to a 16GB SD card in my laptop and Dropbox for the things I need to synch to my desktop, tablet and phone.When it isn't claiming to only be 8MB in size, the Intel 320 is relatively snappy, quiet, and efficient.

I PROVIDED INTEL WITH ALL OF THE INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR REBATE. THEY CLAIMED MY Copy of Receipt/Invoice or Packing List is missing AND THE CLAIM WAS DECLINED. ALSO, I BOUGHT THIS ITEM FEELING LIKE IT WOULDN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS XP, IT DIDN'T, BUT KEPT IT AWAY BECAUSE OF THE $60.00 REBAIT. BE VERY CAREFUL PURCHASING REBAIT ITEM FROM INTEL. THEY DIDN'T ACCEPT A COPY AMAZON'S COMFORMATION OF SALE EVEN THOUGH THEIR OWN UPC BOX LABEL WAS WITH IT. AMAZON SHOULD HAVE A WAY OF COMMUNICATING A REBAIT SALE BACK TO THE PARTY MAKING THE REBAIT OFFER TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM GETTING SCREWED. i had a choice between this and samsung 830 even the samsung is much cheaper i went with intel only for one reason intel is the king of reliability. i am on marvel sata 6 GB/s controller and many reviews say its even worse than intel sata 3 GB/s but even with that bad controller connected to my new intel 520 SSD i got 400 mb/s read and 300 mb/s write. i am planning to change the mb soonbuy with confidence

I went through 3 different OCZ drives in less than 2 years and I would never buy another one.This drive is fast and although my current laptop doesn't have 6gb/s SATA, the Windows performance index for this drive is 7.9, the maximum. I'm still a little weary because Intel is using a Sandforce controller for this drive and all my failed OCZ drives had Sandforce controllers. I think Intel's testing procedure is more rigorous than OCZ's and they are backing this drive with the longest warranty in the business.Check out the benchmark numbers in the User Pictures.

I have been in the process of upgrading a 5 year old Dell desktop (Dimension 9200) because frankly, it is less effort to upgrade than recreating my system on new hardware - it isn't about the money but the labor. Upgrading the old 140GB 7200rpm SATA system drive to this 120GB SSD was far easier than I expected - maybe 20 minutes of actual labor - and it works perfectly and is an amazing increase of speed for disk-bound activities like system startup and starting applications. The kit includes a mounting bracket for desktop installation, a USB connector for cloning the old drive to the new, and the necessary software to do it. Once you clone the drive, simply mount the new drive in the old drive's bay and boot. Reset config at boot, let Windows 7 adapt to it, reboot a second time and you're golden. And fast - a Windows Experience Index of 7.5 on disk transfer rate - and remember this is a 5 year old system - when it was built the WEI scale topped out at 5.9 and the old drive was a 5.3.

Pros: Easy to swap your laptop hard drive using the included SATA to USB kit and Intel's Data Migration software to clone your old drive to SSD. Even works if your old HDD is of larger capacity than this SSD, a situation that causes issues with many drive cloning programs. My laptop is a little speed demon now, booting within 10 seconds from fully powered down. Seems to be a rock solid SSD so far, has not given me any problems and I will likely be purchasing another for the other laptop in our house.Cons: Ships with faulty firmware. Firmware update is MANDATORY. If you buy a 320 series SSD be damned sure the very first thing you do is update the firmware. If you do not update your firmware before using this SSD, you run the risk of more or less bricking the drive. Google Intel 320 series firmware to find the latest version. Thankfully updating the firmware is fairly painless so long as you've got a blank CD-R laying around. But shipping a drive with faulty firmware? You lose a star for that, Intel!Keep in mind, if you need the SATA to USB kit to clone your laptop's HDD, make sure you grab a 320 series SSD with a model number that has "B" as the second to last character (like this one does). The others do not include the necessary adapter.

It must be mentioned, obviously you should not get this if you need massive quantities of disk space and only have one drive bay. However, if you aren't trying to store massive amounts of music, movies, etc. and just need something to hold your OS, apps, and a few documents, I wouldn't hesitate to use one of these.
