I replaced the Dell DW 1820a (Broadcom) card on my Dell XPS 13 9350 with the INtel Wireless AC 9260 today, and the only thing I am asking myself now is, "Why didn't I do this sooner with any number if Intel cards that are superior to this OEM POS?" The most noticeable problems I experienced with the Dell/Broadcom device were: (1) marginal reception and sluggish performance in the 5 GHz channel with my Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and (2) complete dropouts when I closed the laptop cover (when my computer was attached to external monitor(s) via the USB-C port. At first, I thought that the WiFi antenna wires might be crimped or damaged inside the laptop. So, when I replaced the 128 GB M.2 drive with an upgraded 256 GB M.2, I checked. The wires were fine. Unfortunately, when I opened the screen, it acted like an antenna to boost the WiFi signal. With the lid closed, the reception/signal dropped. I tried new/updated drivers from Dell, but experienced the same result -- poor reception. The only way I was able to rectify the problem (before replacing the WiFi/Bluetooth card, was to change the 5 GHz channel on my router to 48, rather than the higher speed frequencies: 149, 153, 1578 or 161. Now, my router is set at 161, in a very dense WiFi environment, and I am experiencing no hiccups or dropouts. And, my laptop cover is fully closed when connected to my external monitor. In addition, I find that my Bluetooth connectivity is much less finicky. I have several devices connected via Bluetooth: a Logitech Keyboard (K480), two Logitech Speakers (X300), a Logitech mouse, an Oontz Angle 3 speaker, a pair of Aukey EB-40 earbuds, and a pair of ActivBuds S250 earbuds. My Windows 10 Pr0 (64-bit) Dell XPS 9350 found and reconnected all of these Bluetooth devices without issue once I installed the new Intel Wireless AC-9260. Here are a couple of notes regarding software and hardware install. One, download the current network drivers (WiFi) and Bluetooth drivers from the Intel website and save to a folder on the hard drive or to a flash drive. *I did not install the drivers before I installed the card. Two, uninstall all device drives for your previous WiFi/Bluetooth card before installation of the new hardware. Note: I did not delete the driver files from Windows 10 Pro. I simply uninstalled them. Clearly, one could delete all of the residual driver files where/when appropriate. Three, ground yourself (or use a grounding strap) before you open your case. Four, open your case and detach the battery cable from the motherboard. Five, remove the antenna cables from your card. Six, remove your old WiFi/Bluetooth card. Seven, insert your new WiFi/Bluetooth card. Eight, attach the antenna cables to your new card. *This can be difficult and frustrating. A magnifying glass, even for people with 20/20 vision, would make it much easier. Nine, close your case, making sure the antenna wires are attached and not crimped when reattaching them to the WiFi/Bluetooth card. Ten, boot your computer to make sure the device is recognized. If so, then eleven, install and test the Intel WiFi/Bluetooth drivers. This installation was a piece of cake. The worst part of the process is attaching the tiny antenna wires. I would have hated to find out that my connectors weren't compatible with this device. Luckily, I researched it ahead of time, and had no problem besides my fat fingers ad the utter tedium. *UPDATE: If you received any BSOD errors after installing this card, it could be due to old driver files/remnants. If so, search "Remove Old Drivers on Windows PC" on thewindowsclub.com to show how to reveal and remove all old drivers of devices you know are no longer connected to your device. Be careful not to remove drivers for devices that are not currently attached.

I have the XPS 15 9560 and i was constantly getting disconnected from the WIFI when i was in the office.

If it stayed connected, my speed was ridiculously slow. To give you an idea what it was like, when i tested my phone in the office, I was getting about 75 - 80 mbs and my XPS was getting 10 - 25 mbs sporadically.

As soon as I switched the wifi card, my XPS was hitting 80 - 85 mbs consistently. I even tried using XPS in the garage and it was still had a crazy good connection.

I TOTALLY recommend this wifi card, just make sure you download the driver before your switch the card =)

Okay folks, if you are getting this, then you are prepared to disassemble something, whether that's a laptop or a PC motherboard, you are going to be dealing with some small screws. Let me tell you this. Once you are done and you've hooked the antennas back up, you will be IMPRESSED. My motherboard came with an AC3200 series Intel WiFi card and it capped out at 80 Mbps, I swear it was throttled. After I got this beast installed. I'm only limited by my cable company. I'm currently pulling 460-480 Mbps and I'm only setup for the 400 Mbps service. This is an amazing card.

I tried to replace an old Wi-Fi card in my Alienware 17 R3 laptop with an Intel AC-9260. I had to uninstall all old Wireless and Bluetooth drivers, uninstall the old hardware, perform a network reset, etc. Then, I installed the card and drivers and the new AC-9260 started working great. As soon as I turned off the laptop, the card would no longer work when I turned it back on. I went through all the uninstall, network reset, re-install steps several times but it never worked again after the initial setup. I finally tried installing an Intel AC-8260 in the laptop and it worked right away with no problems. I don't know what the problem with the AC-9260 is for my system. I'm tired of fooling around with it and I guess I'll stick with an older card. In looking at the Intel Support Website, I found that I wasn't the only person to encounter this problem with the AC-9260. There doesn't seem to be a definitive solution at this point. Caveat Emptor!

I recently installed this chip in my Crosshair VI Hero after a lightning storm took out my Ethernet port. It's working great so far. I was a little worried initially when windows 10 didn't have default drivers for it and it wasn't showing up correctly, but I tethered my phone to the PC got the drivers and no problems since. I don't have even decent broadband in my area but local transfers are quick for WiFi. I've only used the Bluetooth a couple times but no issues there either. Was kind of a pain disassembling my whole rig to install it and the antennas but in the end totally worth it. If you're replacing a laptop module this won't be an issue though. But do pay attention to what antennas you order (or are in your laptop) though as there are different types that aren't compatible. If you need a quick WiFi/BT module I'd recommend it highly as it's pretty cheap and it's the latest that Intel has released to my knowledge. 10/10

I was being more careful during installation due to 1star previous reviews. For the low price I thought WTH I'll give it a try. Glad I did ! Watch a installation video on that U site. Very important note: on my laptop a dell 7559 the top antenna wire was white and lower wire black. Labeled AUX and MAIN. On this card it still has AUX and MAIN but the letters are so small you can't read them without magnification and ARROW COLORS ARE REVERSED. If you go white to white and black wire to black arrow it will be WRONG at least the way my prior Intel Wifi card and laptop is. Need to go main to main and aux to aux, the white and black wires stay in their original upper and lower configuration on my particular laptop and version of my old wifi card. Putting on the micro antenna snap ons was a pain but persistance and being careful works. My speeds improved beyond my expectations. Could be the wide 160 vs 80mhz band being used with my router? My speeds doubled both on 2.4 and 5ghz up to my ISP plan max of 238Mbps through walls and floors! Far better than the old card or USB dongles. Antenna bars went up too. Time will tell if it is stable or doesn't burn out. Win10 auto installed good drivers. I tried Intel generic drivers and both provided max speeds. I am using an Intel 7thgen laptop cpu and this in a Wifi M.2 slot. It might not work with AMD cpu's or a memory slot or very old cpu and motherboard. My bluetooth devices appear on the found list and all looks ok in the control panel. I didn't test that yet but it is also FYI as others said no bluetooth worked for them. Wires switched?

Finally, I found a network card that works in the Dell XPS 13 9360. The one that came with the Dell was a Qualcomm 802.11AC "Killer" card and it never worked. I had bought the Dell last August and never noticed the problem because I connected an Ethernet cable to the laptop as it sits next to my router. However, I recently took the laptop on a trip and found out that the Qualcomm card didn't work at all; it could not pick up WiFi signals in hotels and elsewhere and couldn't hold the signal for more than a minute or two.

The Intel card, on the other hand, works perfectly. The only problem is installing it is not particularly easy. I watched a couple of YouTube videos of experts changing out the existing network card with the Intel in a few minutes. But, I didn't find it that easy. For one thing, the central screw in the middle of the Dell (behind the security flap) didn't come out easily. I went through five different screwdrivers before I was able to remove it with some brute force. Then, the network cables didn't easily fit back on the Intel card (I'm old and my hands had difficulty maneuvering the extremely small connectors). Still, after a good hour, I did get the new card installed.

In short, I'm extremely happy with this card. It works. Thanks to all those who recommended this card.

We have several HP 15-ba079dx Notebook computers kids use and HP put horrible old Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter adapters in them so everything interfered with their slow 2.4 MHz connectivity when we have high speed Fiber connection. So it was frustrating. A month ago I tried installing one of these into one and it did not work in Windows 10, but yesterday I tried again and it did. It appears Intel fixed the Driver and it now works with the system. I recommend Intel driver WiFi_20.60.0_PROSet64_Win10.exe or better. 20.50.1 also worked. You will need to add the Bluetooth driver separately. Why they don't combine them I'm not sure. Also because laptop had only one antenna I picked up a pair of NGFF antennas and added one antenna to two notebooks in non-shielded areas of the case (stock antenna used for one connection). Overall a nice inexpensive upgrade to a value system.

Important note, once all set up go into Device Manger and the 9260 properties and turn off the option for the system to power down the card to save power. New card likely uses more power so it apparently can't wake up from sleep. Not uncommon in value systems like this.

Notebooks went from 5-30 Mbps to 200 Mbps (current service limit). When i switch to 500 Mbps or 1Gbps it will be able to handle it.

The card came as described and it was easy to install, the antennas were not reversed. Speed test show me getting between 300-400Mbps, which is what I was getting before. I've had the card in about a week with no issues. I will update if anything does happen, but so far so good. Definitely worth the money since the Realtek card that came with my Lenovo Yoga 730 was horrible and kept dropping signal.

I have an HP 17-xd116x that I bought for a song, an admitted impulse buy, but I was only going to use it to offload and review camera images while on vacation. It weighs a ton but I check a 2nd bag anyway. It was hampered by a number of inherent performance problems like only a single USB 3.1, dual snaillike USB 2.0s, and 10/100 Ethernet ports and a 2.4GHz Wi-fi connection with no Bluetooth. I bought a powered USB 3.1 hub and, BT, Gigabit and 5GHZ dongles, all gobbling up all my ports, and let it be. The 2.4GHz Realtek connection was rock solid, even at the iffiest of B&Bs. Wasn't the worst but it was still a little rusty so I figured I'd clone the 1T system drive for a 240SSD and 8Gb RAM for 16. I'd opened up my share of "scary" stuff in my day - I'm a medical field tech - so I wasn't too squeamish about a laptop (NOTE: I never underestimate anything's guts though). I bought an SSD, memory module and an optical drive hard disk bay adapter, the latter since it only had 1 SATA connection for a HD.
When I unbuttoned everything, I found the easily-replaceable, unmarked OEM M.2 2230 FF Wi-fi card out in the open and couldn't resist. I found this and a number of others out there, widely varying in mfr, price and availability, spent an afternoon going over the finer details since they were muddled as they can be about computer hardware on Amazon. I took a shot at this and bought another model as a backup since I have a 7th Gen CPU and the warning in the description. I had my fingers crossed for this part to work because I've been a big fan of Intel wired networking hardware for years. P.S. I already had links to editing the hardware whitelist in BIOS so I was also semi-prepared for it to get ugly real fast.
In a nutshell, this immediately worked right out of the box (I bought a license and upgraded the W10 Home to Pro more than a year ago). Driver loaded and there was my 5GHZ Nighthawk connection. Instantly connected. I'd run a speedtest on my home Gigabit connection and at 2.4, it was consistently 120-150Mbps anywhere around my crib, now it was 350-375. Even my Wi-fi connection showed 585MBps locally when other devices said 433. I dragged it out to the parking lot, about 10M from my router and still was in the 200 range. I connected a number of BT devices like mice, keyboards, headphones and earbuds and they jumped aboard despite having no antenna. I watched hours of YouTube videos without a single hiccup from video or sound.
If it works for your device without major upheaval or heartache, you'll be happy. I got lucky. Luck is always part of small successes anyhow.

I bought an HP 14-dk0022wm laptop that came with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor and a Realtek card. Since I did not want to use the provided Windows 10 Home in S mode, I purchased a larger, faster M.2 SSD and installed Fedora Linux. Unfortunately, the Realtek RTL8841CE card does not currently have a driver in the Linux kernel and is unlikely to until next year sometime. I tried installing a driver with no success. I looked at a number of different options and selected this AC 9260 card as I found on the Linux Wireless site that it is supported. Even though the page indicated that it was for use only with an Intel processor, I read elsewhere that it does work with AMD processors as well. Pairing with an Inel processor may have a feature or two more, but I have not noticed any problems with using it with the Ryzen 3 processor. I couldn't be more happy with this choice. I installed it, booted up, and had both Wifi and Bluetooth operating properly.

The HP laptop came with only one antenna. I first connected to the AUX connector but found that it only gave me 2.4 GHz network access. I switched it to the Main connector, and found that it gave me not only 5 GHz, but kept the 2.4 GHz capability. Bluetooth operates with either one so I don't know if it is using the antenna or if it has its own antenna in the card itself.

As for operation, I am getting 867 Mbps with my Linksys AC1750 router. If I had the second antenna, I expect I would get the faster 1300 Mbps speed of which the router is capable. I'm very happy though with the 867 Mbps as it is much faster than my previous laptop with wireless N had.

Bottom line: I recommend this card.

The stock Wifi card in the Dell XPS 8900 only had support for 2.4Ghz. I was using a TP-Link USB adapter that I bought here for $70 and that turned out to be waste of money because this card was less than $20 and works much better than either of the two. The 9260 also has the added benefit of Bluetooth 5.0.

A word on installation:

1. Before you take out your old wifi card, note which cable (white or black) is connected to which slot (left or right) and not number (1 or 2). The numbers may be reversed on the 9260 card so you need to go by the order, not which cable is connected to a specific numbered slot. For example, if the white cable is connected to the left slot on the old card, put the white cable on the left slot of this 9260 card. Don't go by wire color and number.

2. And make sure you download the drivers before taking out your old card if you don't have an ethernet connection.

Edit: It worked so well that I bought another for my MSI GS60 laptop that came with a Killer Wifi card. I'm getting twice the speed now.

I installed this on a new XPS 9570 and was experiencing terrible stutter with my Bluetooth audio headphones. After troubleshooting all day, I remembered watching a video where somebody stated that the color markings were backwards with the AC 8265. I reversed the black and white cables to not match the black and white markings on the 9260 and immediately noticed the difference. Everything works flawlessly now. I have no problems with dropped signals with wifi nor Bluetooth.

I don't know if color markings are wrong with the Intel wlan card or if Dell put the cables on backwards on the unit so I'm not going to blame either. I am saying if you are experiencing dropped signals with this (or any other wlan) card, try reversing the cables to see if that resolves your issue.

For the money I paid for this, it is a very worthy upgrade.

Used it to replace the horrible Realtek WiFi chipset that came with my Asus B450 AMD4 motherboard. See YouTube tutorials on how to do this. This isn't just for laptops.

It was a pain to open up my case (small form factor SFF-PC) as I couldn't reach the two screws for the WiFi chip on the board. Likely not an issue with other case styles/sizes.

Once installed, I let Windows 10 install the default driver (offline), which installed an old driver but enough to get me connected. Once up and running, I re-rain the driver installation, going to "Device Manager"->right click the Intel chipset "Update Driver", and click "search automatically for updated driver software" which will get you the latest drivers from MS/Intel via internet.

Realtek would connect to my router at "theoretical speed: 350mbps" but would rarely ever hit more than 180mbps (~18-20 MB/s). I would barely hit 200mbps on speed tests, ISP gives me 500mbps.

Intel WiFi chip: connects to router "theoretical speed: 866mbps" seen in the network properties in Windows 10. I get my full ISP speed now of 500mbps. To the router and NAS, I'm transferring files on WiFi at close to 55-60MB/s. Huge improvement vs realtek.

Before you judge, I would use Ethernet, but I can't run wires in the wall in my apartment. Ethernet cable strewn across the hardwood floor is an eyesore here. This is a good happy medium for me.

I replaced the Qualcomm qca9377 in my Dell 5584 laptop. I had this laptop for a little over a year. It often disconnected my bluetooth mouse. It drove me crazy. I reinstalled windows, the drivers, and tried numerous other fixed. Nothing seemed to work. A couple of days later it would start working again. Then the wifi started having issues. It would randomly drop the signal. After even more research, several people commented on the quality of the qualcomm 9377 in my dell. I took a chance and replaced it. The two pictures show a before and after speed tests. The qualcomm chip on average had a download speed in the 20's. While the new Intel chip is averaging the 60's which is our internet speed. I would highly recommend the intel chip over the qualcomm if you are having issues similar to mine. I will update if the stability issues persist.
Pros:
Much faster
drivers automatically downloaded (I pre loaded them before the install just in case)
It even remembered my wifi, just not the bluetooth

Cons:
One difficult screw to remove. Make sure you have a good set of small Philips screw drivers
Tiny antenna connections. May be a slight issue

I had been meaning to do this upgrade for awhile, and my laptop being the only device that could not connect to my 5Ghz network one day was the final straw. Just a few screws, popped off and on the antenna wires and boom, everything went like clockwork.

A few notes:
-download the wireless drivers BEFORE doing the upgrade, as you won't be able to connect to the internet after putting in the new card
-pay attention to the words on the card for the antennas, not necessarily the colors (you'll see once you get the computer open)

I've had a rock solid connection (and super fast) ever since installing this intel card, which really should've been standard on such an expensive computer (the Killer card that came with it was flaky from they start). At least it's super cheap to replace. I'll update if something goes wrong, but for now, a MUST for Dell 9570 owners.

Wanted to replace the lackluster WiFi / Bluetooth 4.0 card that came stock in a new Dell Core i5-9400 desktop. I was expecting to find prices in the $30-$35 range, so imagine my surprise to see this Intel branded unit for less than fourteen bucks with next-day Prime delivery. Placed the order, it arrived the next afternoon as promised. Took all of about 10 minutes to remove the old card and slide the new one into the slot. A couple of things to be careful of are to remove and reconnect the antenna cables carefully (they always seem so fragile) and, depending on how your rig is designed, it might be a test of your patience to get that teeny tiny hold-down screw back in place without dropping it intro the case (or worse, on the floor, where you might never see it again. Yes it’s that small, but absolutely necessary to keep the card in the slot). I’d also suggest download the latest drivers from Intel prior to installation.

I was having a terrible time using most any Bluetooth audio devices with the Dell.. random disconnects, terrible range, lots of interference, and while this new card doesn’t solve all of those issues completely, it’s vastly superior than before. Now I can raise my arm in front of my face without causing the Bluetooth headphones to disconnect. The WiFi performance is perfectly fine, perhaps slightly faster than the old card. I bought it for better Bluetooth and it took care of the most irritating issues at a fantastic price.

This is one of the best wifi cards on the market today! If your laptop doesn't have a restriction then this is the model you should get. I replaced my Qualcomm wifi in my Ryzen powered Nitro 5 and now the wifi really flies with no dropouts!

Prior to this I was using a USB wifi dongle because the internal wifi would have so many issues with stability that I gave up on using it entirely.... I purchased multiple wireless dongles until I found the right size and speed that I wanted.
Today I am wifi dongle-free with this card. Not only can I hit full speeds but there was no dropouts or slowdowns with a 56GB file transfer over my local network!

This is the wifi card to buy, hands down.

My wife's Dell desktop came for some reason with a 2GHz-only wifi card, which got speeds of about 30 mbps - disappointing since our other PCs get well over 100 throughout the house. A good dual-band USB wifi adapter boosted it to 240 mpbs, but I wanted to try replacing the built-in card with a dual-band model, and went with this one. Instantly the speed went to 497 mbps -- best ever in our house, and this is on a different floor, opposite side of the house from the router. Fantastic! If you haven't replaced one of these M.2, NGFF form-factor cards before, expect a trickier job of attaching the tiny connectors, compared to older wifi cards with the much bigger attachments -- but this is true of all the newer wifi adapters I think. The results were well worth it. This one is a great choice!

It would connect to the internet but would not allow web browsing. After much experimentation (much more than I care to do in 2018), uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling, reenabling, etc. ad nauseum, I finally hit on the solution that worked for me (in Windows). I opened the properties for the card in Windows Device Manager, went to the Advanced tab, and set the 802.11n/ac Wireless Mode from ac to n and the card worked like a charm. It is now very fast in both operating systems, clearly beating the USB card I was using before.

Works perfectly in my XPS 9570. Download unified driver from Intel before swapping. Be careful putting the antenna leads back on. Contrary to what you might read out there, it doesn't matter what color antenna lead goes on main/aux. Both arrangements perform the same. Wish Dell would just switch to these cards and be done with it. You'll have to re-pair any Bluetooth devices after installing the Intel driver. 650mb/s link speed 15' from router with two walls between the laptop and router. No drops after running ping tool for an afternoon. Also make sure to download the killer uninstaller to completely remove killer software. The uninstaller on the laptop doesn't remove everything. Fortunately killer makes a download available that does remove it all including certain killer services that run out of the box. Anybody want to buy a killer wifi card cheap?

I recently purchased an HP 14-dq0011dx laptop as a "Deal of the Day" for $279. It has an Intel Core i3-8145 and came with 4GB RAM and a128GB m.2 SSD. Unfortunately, it also came with a Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11bgn wlan card. A bgn wlan card is unacceptable to me, especially as the laptop had only one antenna and the wlan card's top speed was 72 Mbps. I was going to upgrade the RAM to 8GB and the 128GB drive to 1TB, so upgrading the wlan card at the same time made a lot of sense. Luckily, I read a review that said the Intel 9260 was a perfect drop-in replacement. I bought the sk Hynix RAM, a Crucial 1TB m.2 SSD and the Intel 9260 from Amazon and Coinkosz was the vendor for the Intel Card and did an excellent job in getting it to me in record time.

After installing all the components and re-installing the operating system via HP Cloud Recovery, this inexpensive laptop flys! The Intel 9460 wlan card operates at 433 Mbps (with just a single connection!), a vast improvement over the Realtek card. Thanks Coinkosz for getting it out so quickly and in perfect shape, at an excellent price! 😊

It's a shame Dell used such crappy cards in such an otherwise very nice laptop but a replacement card at this price was well worth the upgrade for me. Looked online to see the step by step to open the machine and within 10 minutes I was back up and running at twice the speed and no connection drops. Awesome fix. Download drivers for the Intel card to your desktop first before removing and replacing the WiFi card.
