I have owned many DSLR's, icluding a Canon 1D. This non-DSLR is a better alternative, both in cost and ease of use. Unless you're shooting for a magazine, this camera's performance is more than enough. No more changes lenses, a 14.3x zoom, 11 megapixels (the 7 pics per second at 3 megapixels produces great pictures,) what more does the advanced amateur need? Save your money and buy one like this.

Absolutely unbelievable! This camera is great. I have had some bad experiences with Nikons in the past and for my first Fujifilm I was supremely impressed. The shots are enormous and can be really crisp and clear. It's not as fancy but there are lots of settings and helpful features that get the job done right.

Be careful to set the camera to the proper camera mode before going into a situation such as a wedding or graduation. I missed my brother getting his diploma because I had to change the setting last minute (But we have it on film camera and video camera)

Fujifilm Finepix V10 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3.4x Optical Zoom (Gun Metal Grey) What a GREAT camera!! Have had for about a year and a half and highly recomend it. Be sure to get a least a 1 gig card for it. On a good setting will hold almost 500 pics, and on a lesser setting close to 1,000.
Features I really like:rechargeable battery, compact, easy to use settings, only takes a few seconds to crop a pic, zoom, and extra large display.
I have had so many compliments on this camera from people who some have spent 3 times as much on their camera. Great value, great camera.

I have bought 5 of these cameras total. Two of them were gifts, two were for my business and I have one personally. I love this camera..mainly because of the large screen. It is very easy to use. I have friends as well as family members that have bought this camera after using mine...need I say more.

This is a great camera for people that are learning about photography or likes photography as a hobby. it takes great pictures in comparison to others shoot & point cameras. At first is a little complicated to get acquainted with all the features of the caamera ( if you are a person that doesn't like to read manuals don't buy this camera ) so you're first pictures might not be great. But as you learn how to use it within no time you'll be taking professional like pictures! Pros: Great quality pictures, incredible zoom( you won't believe the pictures you can take with this ), Price!, AA batteries, universal memory cards, image stabilization. Cons: In order to take good pictures you have to read the manual and know basic photography.

I absolutlely love this compact camera. It has everything you need all in one and it's sooo easy to use. I also love the screen size, it's so big, and you can see all the details without squinting. The size of the camera is just right, you don't have a bulky camera to carry around. With the camera in it's case i can just throw it in my purse and it's about the size of a mans wallet. I also love how it doesn't take batteries, it has a charger and it doesn't take long to charge up.

The shutter speed is the fastest of any camera i've used, i can continuiously snap photos without missing a thing. This is a really good feature if you have active children and always end up getting a picture of the back of their head. Occasionally you'll get a blury one if there is quick movement but you can just keep snapping pictures, because the shutter speed is so fast! The quality of the pictures is excellent as well. The colors are nice and bright and look great on the computer if you download them.

I also absolutely LOVE the video recorder!! I have a camcorder but never really used it or used it or would forget about it. Well with this handy all-in-one camera i have it right there and I can record up to 20 minutes, depending on the memory card. It's just enough to record the special moments. And the quality of the camcorder is excellent.

I recommend this camera to everyone, it's all you need in one !

I bought this camera for personal use. Although I'm not a professional photographer I greatly enjoy taking pictures and this camera has suited me well. It's because of its generally high reveiws that I chose this camera out of the many to choose from, and I add my two thumbs up to it! The picture resolution is so clear and amazing and the "movie" recording works fantastically. Another thing that has pleased me is the way it captures in real color instead of giving it that "picture" look. For a camera of its price I am thoroughly satisfied. :)

I got this camera from the place where Every Little Helps, if you catch my drift, and I'm very pleased with it.

The images are superb quality as is the camera itself. The large viewing screen is a boon and is so much better than a lot of digicams that tend to have smaller screeens.

The menus and buttons are very intuitive and you'll be able to use this right out of the box without having to read through pages and pages of instructions.

Takes two types of card, including the industry standard SD, which is why I wanted this camera in the first place. A 4GB card - enough for 1800 top quality photos - is only around a tenner, so I would recommend you get one of those too.

I only have one complaint and that is the lack of a camera case, but for this price that is only a minor criticism.

Buy one!

I have this camera approx 4 months and I really love shooting it. It is well built and has to be by far the best advanced non DSLR camera out right now. I really love all of the functions it has and the way it feels. I have several other advanced point and shoots and SLR's and I really like the way you have availability to most of the functions right from the back of the camera instead of having to go into the main menu. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for the versatility of a DSLR in a point and shoot without all of the hassle.

I just bought this camera - and took it out for a spin this last weekend. I live in San Diego - so I went to Shelter Island and Harbor Island & took some fantastic pics! I posted them in the customer images for the camera. Check it out. This camera will allow you to take your own postcards!

I am an Army medic currently deployed in Iraq. I purchased this camera to document my time here. Due to the harsh environment, and the rough treatment that equipment tends to endure here, I didn't want to buy an expensive camera that might get demolished quickly. The 6.3 megapixels would be more than enough for the shots I planned to take, and the price was within my intended range. I naturally tend to do a ton of research before buying electronics because I have found that you do in fact "get what you pay for". Fujifilm consistently received high marks in all of the different reviews that I read, so I finally decided on this one.
I have taken hundreds of photos of everything from night operations through a pair of NVG's (night vision goggles)(very cool effect), documentation of wounded, the local populace, macro shots of indigenous flora, and everything in between. I have been greatly impressed with the quality and clarity of this little camera. I have hauled this little guy through some of the nastiest terrain the earth has to offer and have still yet to complain about its performance. I keep it in my pocket in a ziploc bag to protect it. It is simple to use. The interface is not complicated, and there are some different auto settings that compensate for the manual setting being less than robust. The clarity and details the A610 captures are quite sufficient to tell the story of our lives here. If you are looking for magazine grade photos, this camera may not be up your alley, but for the rest of us who just want to document life with some better than average photos, this little guy will more than do the job. I am convinced that I got more than what I paid for with this model.

very sophisticated menu but a simpler camera (HP) makes much better pictures...

I have had the exact same experience as J.Maxwell's commnets above. Bought this camera to replace a 4 year old HP with 8X zoom and 4MP. I like to take wildlife and bird photos. The new Fuji does an excellent job on scenery, but can not take as sharp of pictures as my old HP of birds. I actually used them side by side and there is a difference in sharpness. Fuji suggests that I can't use the zoom without a tripod, since I am moving more than the "advanced" image stabilization can handle. Yet my old HP will work decent within the 40 digital zoom range beyond the optical zoom when hand held. I actually had the oportunity of a lifetime last week to take several pictures of a Bald Eagle eating a road kill deer. The bird let me get to within 18 feet and I took many photos with this new Fuji. The photos came out OK, but not as clear as a photo of an Eagle from 18 feet should be. It was suggested that background was bad and the camera had trouble with focus. My comment was that it was a 2 foot tall large black and white object against a light brown background of the deer and soil. Something easily focused on that my old HP would have made beautiful and produced several perfect shots. The camera does do a super job on macrofocus mode (super close up).

I bought this elsewhere and completely overpaid for it. I bought this camera to replace my FinePix 3800 (which I COMPLETELY LOVED, but wore it out), and I have to say that I am very disapointed with the photo quality in this new one. I'm just a stay at home mom of two boys thought I was buying a camera equal to my old one--to capture all my boys milestones and family moments. My previous camera only had 3.2 megapixel and 6x optical capability and the photo quality was so much better... how does that make sense?

On the pro side for this camera, the macro (close up) function is amazing--those pictures do come out extremely high quality and the video shoots non-stop (until your mem card fills up) instead of in 60 seconds intervals. There is also black and white, and sepia--all kinds of neato features, but when it comes down to it, this is not a point and shoot camera.

I wish they'd just add all these new neat features to the 3800--I wasn't looking to shoot artsy fartsy close-ups of flowers, or award winning videos, just really great, clear and impressive pictures of my children an family with an easy to use camera (like my old finepix 3800)--this wasn't it.

I like the compact size of the camera, and the picture quality is great. There aren't many features on this camera, but the simplicity is actually nice. I am very pleased with this camera for the price I paid.

Still learning the functions, but so far I love this camera. Downside is--
you have to take the lens cap off BEFORE you turn it on or you will get a ZOOM ERROR, but if you press the zoom button, the zoom engages and the error goes away. You have to do this even if all you want to do is review your pictures.
With the camera off, the lens is fully retracted and when you turn it on the lens advances a little and then stops. If the lens cover is on, the lens can't advance which creates the error. Do this too many times and I would think you could damage your camera. This is actually called a
HUMAN ERROR (heh heh) and I'm working on it.

Maybe it's like that with all the cameras with a lens cover-My other camera is a point & shoot with no lens cover.

I am by no means a photographer. I use my camera for primarly one reason: to take pictures of my kids. This camera is great. It's user-friendly and the software that comes with it is as well. Everything is easy with this camera - not to mention I love the color!

The camera's pictures were fuzzy in every mode, but especially auto. I realize maybe tinkering with enough in custom settings I could have got a better picture, but auto should at least be able to take "some" still simple pictures okay. The cheapest camera out there can do that. We were upgrading from a Sony Mavica CD1000, and quality wise the sony still blew this away.

After only a week of very light use the camera suddenly said "Lens error" when turning it on and the lens clearly was not going in and out correctly. We called Fuji who told us to send it in for a "6 week turnaround" on repair. The fact that we only had this camera for a week didnt seem to surprise them. Very poor support.

I'm so glad I picked this camera. I did my homework (researching for a week)and it paid off. It is everything I was looking for and much more.
The quality of the pictures is amazing. The video function is great and the multiple shutter option is superb.
The flash is very good in indoor conditions. The RAW format allows you to manipulate pictures in a total new way without damaging the original image.
This is the best non DSLR camera in the market at this moment.

I bought my camera from [...] and it arrived next working day, with a 170 page instruction manual - IN ENGLISH! I have only had it 3 days now and all my pictures have been taken indoors. It is very easy to setup and picture quality is great with the flash, no red eye so far. I love the zoom on the camera, the 10x Optical is fantastic.
My only complaint is that the way I hold the camera, my finger is held over the automatic flash, however, I am learning quickly to get a new grip.
Overall very happy with the camera and would recommend it, hope to update when I have taken more pictures with it.

I bought this camera thinking it would be the perfect little thing to carry around.... boy oh boy was I wrong. Now unless it was a manufaturer's defect, this camera was a little piece of junk! Complicated with horrible grainy, blurry photos. I would not recommend this camera to anyone looking for a decent yet simple point and shoot camera!

I have had the camera for 4 days, it meets my basic needs in a digital camera.

The Good:
18x Zoom, SLR like features, 8MP, regular batteries (why? this is good for travel where you are not sure if you will be able to charge the unit, just throw in or bring more batteries and you are good to go).

If you have a limited budget this camera fits between a good subcompact with some feature of a dSLR and has an all in one lens (you cannot change lenses). Overall easy to use.

The Bad:
Picture quality is ok, not great. Some functions are slow in operation.

Buy it if you want a camera that does is all, but look at the Canon S5 IS first....also uses regular batteries.

But, if you have the cash, buy a real dSLR from Canon or Nikon and then maybe spring for a good subcompact for times when you dont need to drag a full size camera around.

My suggestion is a Nikon d40x or D80 if you want to learn how to take real pics....and then a Canon Powershot subcompact.

For $327, I cant complain about the Fujifilm S8000fd, but I expected just a little better picture quality.....the Fujifilm S700 would perhaps come very close to this camera in overall functionality and the S700 is under $200 now.

Bought this on Valentines...and its now June and my flash completely stopped on 5k pics. Replaced battery and still no go. Called Fuji film and they will only fix "this common problem" with an orginal recipt. Go figure. Other than that it was a Great camera while it lasted. Purchasing another but a dif model. Love the quality. Just short life spans. RIP my fav pink camera..sniffle.

my other camera is a 1980's slr, great piece of kit but just not practical for day to day use anymore, so when i saw these going cheap i thought 'why not?'

and why not indeed, its a modern marvel, mine cost £80-90-ish and what a bargain, my dad has a 6mp fuji and it was on his advice i got this and what can i say- he's jealous, the best advice with one of these is get a cheap sd card, put it on 3mp resolution and auto mode and it does everything else itself, you can turn the resolution right up but i can put pics on a tv screen and they look great so no need to take up anymore memory card space, fuji always make good cameras and this one is no exception, you won't get away with paying any less for a decent named one so just get it, you'll be glad you did
