Not sure what a few of the reviewers experienced thinking it was a tight fit. I purchased this cover for a new Epson 3880 printer and it fits just great but certainly not overly tight.

This printer offers excellent print-quality, and it does so in a small footprint. I'm amazed! However, Epson slacks a little in regards to reliable networking, beta-testing, shipping, and efficiency.I have possessed two of these printers and both had some major issue:#1 - First one was most likely damaged during packaging, because the shipping box was in pristine condition. I had to ship it back and get another printer, albeit, I didn't have to ship it until the new one arrived, but with Epson's poor tech-support, even this was no easy job for me. I ended up having to call the Headquarters to speak with someone, but the whole building was too busy with some big meeting to help me. Nobody EVER called me back during the whole experience of swapping the two printers out.#2 - Second printer was also damaged (STRAIGHT FROM EPSON!), but I managed to reset the front tray. You can tell the machine is fragile, just from the serious amount of foam and blue tape Epson ships the device with. It takes a good 5-10 minutes to carefully unpack. Printers have never really been built like tanks, and I don't expect the manufacturers will find a way any time soon.#3 - Bug in the software? My printer suddenly started displaying it was using Photo-Black ink, instead of Matte. So I set it to swap the blacks out back to Matte black. Soon after, it displayed Photo Black again. So I wasted two swaps to find a cosmetic BUG! Cosmetic, sure, but this is a bit over the top. Epson even mis-spelled the word, "Networking" in the Firmware update utility inside the LFP Remote Panel. If that's indicative of Epson's attention to detail, I can only imagine this is where they had to cut some jobs to give the K3-ink crew more time and materials. I'm just glad the K3-ink department got it right!#4 - The IT staff at Epson should get more involved with the design engineers and help them understand more about RELIABLE LAN networking. This printer is among the lowest quality LAN nodes I've dealt with in my life. I'm a Cisco Network Engineer, btw. If you want to experience repeated futility, try getting this thing to regain an Ethernet connection to a Mac Book Pro after unplugging the cable and rebooting either device. I don't wish to think every Epson printer does this, but I'm surprised Epson didn't build any decent Ethernet status monitoring in the printer. No, that's something HP does well, and have proven it for the last ten years.#5 Poorly laid out menus and buttons: Yeah I've worked with better. Question: Why do you have to reboot the printer to change it's IP address? Haven't we evolved enough to virtually eliminate reboots?I can't boast enough about the print-quality, and to keep the price within reach, there has to be some sacrifices made along the way. Shareholders don't budge on these things, and I don't expect Seiko to, either. So, if you can live with potential issues in production as such, I think you'll be a satisfied customer, assuming your printer arrives intact and without something bent. I just wish Epson could have worked a little harder on other aspects of the printer that may not relate directly to the actual image.btw, the whole time it took me to type this review, the Epson print software STILL hadn't figured out it cannot print due to the Printer's NIC card not communicating! How about a little better error-checking? I wish Canon were better, but they're really not. They seem to have budget issues caused by shareholders, too.

I checked with my manual (for the 3800 printer) and found that this little guy collects the drippings from the ink as it's being used. Extra ink is used during print head cleaning and print head alignment. Think if it as a broiler pan for your printer. You can check the "% left" by going to Menu, printer status and down to Maintenance Cartridge and it will tell you how much useful life it has left (if only we all had that option.) The manual will also tell you how to change it when you need to. You can download a PDF manual from the Epson site for free.

I now own both the R1800 and the R3800 printers. I bought the R1800 a few years ago, shortly after it came out. This fall I attended a photo trade show in NYC. There were prints on display that were stunning and I got excited about upgrading my printer. There were two or three things I wanted. I wanted larger ink cartridges, so I wouldn't have to order replacements after printing just a few large prints and I wanted a reduction in the cost of the ink. I wanted better quality in the grey scale. I wanted to not have to perform maintenance on the printer (cleaning etc) so often because this wastes ink. I wanted the best quality ink I could get. The thing that really tipped me over to buying this printer was the discovery that the R1800 does not use the same ink set as the professional printers and that the R1800 cannot produce good quality when printing black and white images because it lacks the additions black cartridges. The reason I didn't go with the R2400 was that I did not like the idea of having to switch black cartridges and the waste of ink involved. The 3800 produces great prints and the quality of the greyscale is a noticable improvement over the R1800. But I have to say that it is not as easy a printer to use. While the R1800 came with profiles that were right on target out of the box, I have had to make sure that my monitor is calibrated correctly for the prints to match and I even calibrated the printer. This was somewhat expensive, but I believe that these are necessary steps if you really want to have control over color and the quality of your prints. So, I would recommend this printer for people who want to take their work to the next level, or certainly, for professional photographers. But it is more work to really make use of the extra quality by fine tuning the profiles. I think in the end it will be worth it. The printer has a much larger footprint than the R1800 and it is quite heavy. It does not take a roll which is one downside. but it is able to take many types of paper and can be adjusted in ways the are impossible on the R1800. So, if you are a serious photographer or would be photographer and you want to print your own work to get the quality you want, then I recommend this printer. The R1800 is also capable of beautiful stunning output, but it feels more like a toy next to this printer. Also, one other thing. It comes with Epson support and the support is very very good. The first time I called I talked to them for almost an hour while they taught me about the various aspects of using the printer. You dont get that kind of support when you buy a printer targeted at the consumer market.

I really wish I'd read this before I bought my R1900 a few months ago. Not only does it use ink at a horrific rate, more than half the time the new, Epson replacement cartridge isn't recognized. I've called Epson several times and they are really helpful and friendly and are very quick to send me a replacement cartridge when i tell them i've already gone through the troubleshooting procedures (I've become an expert by now). 3 days ago it happened again. Cyan ran out 3/4 of the way in printing a 13x19 print for a job i needed the next day. Neither of the remaining TWO cartridges will work. It wasted the print and the job didn't get done. I am going to demand a refund on the piece of junk. DO NOT BUY EPSON PRINTERS unless you have deep pockets for ink. The ink for the R1900 can only be purchased, as far as I can tell, from Epson. They don't even want the defective carts back for review which tells me a whole lot about their quality control.Purchased in Sept 089/23: ordered ink10/1: called tech support and ordered Cyan replaced10/9: called tech support and ordered Gloss replaced11/3: called tech support and ordered Yellow replaced12/9: ran out of Cyan (two replacement carts not recognized. Will be talking with Epson Monday about a refund on printer.NEVER AGAIN WITH EPSON.

I researched the Epson Sylus printer that I purchased and discovered that it suffers from a weak hinge on on one of its doors and many people lost that door by the second month. I decided to preempt this problem by purchasing the Tumi cover which cam recommended highly and now I can see why. Made of medium "ballistic" nylon it has "heft" and fits like a glove. Stiff enough to hold its shape and flexible enough to conform to the printer. It even has a built-in pouch that fits over the paper feed tray so the tray doesn't have to be completely closed. Great design, great engineering, great product.

I am an amateur photographer and have made the financial decision to take my work to the next level. This included purchasing this printer as well as the new Nikon D300 DSLR. I wanted to be able to take very high image quality pictures and then print them out at various sizes at a quality that would match any studio. The first printer that was shipped to me had to be returned as some internal parts were trapped on the first print job by the print head and jammed up the printer. Not a great beginning. The second printer arrived within days. I printed another test print and this one made it through the printer! However, the colors were completely off from what I saw on the display versus what appeared on the print.I'd just learned my first lesson about controlling the process end-to-end (photo to print) and that was that color management was more than a maybe. It's a MUST.I then purchased a kit to calibrate both the monitor and the printer (even though the printer ships with a print profile). After calibration and following some very specific steps on each and every print job, I now get reliably correct prints. And they're beautiful! If you're considering this printer, be aware of the following three key issues:1) You stand a chance of getting one with mechancial problems and will need to have a replacement.2) You will also likely run into issues of color management. If you don't know what that is I'd highly recommend you read up on it.3) If you haven't yet, you will now notice the imperfections of your captured images and will want to upgrade your camera gear because this printer creates excellent renditions of your photographs. IF your images are clear and sharp, so will the prints.Bottom line, in spite of the issues I ran into using this printer, I'd do it all over again and would recommend it highly.

I bought the Epson 1900 to back up a old 2200 I have and have had nothing but problems since. To start off it eats through inks getting half the total square inch coverage I get on my 2200. I have had continuous paper feeding issues using Epson papers. Every now and then in the process of printing a image it dumps a ton of ink on the paper making the print worthless. Now in switching ink cartridges it won't recognize the new cartridge. In fact it won't recognize any of them. I've re-booted the printer several times, re-installed the software several times and am ready to trash it. In the 5-6 years I've had the 2200 I've never had a issue. I even recommended Epson to another photographer and they've had nothing but problems. Obviously Epson cares nothing about quality anymore and this will be the last Epson I buy. To top it off the customer service number is not a 1-800 number.

I'm a Fine Art Digital Photographer, not a techno geek to make it plain to those reading my assessment of the Epson Stylus Pro 3800. Since getting into the digital arena and printing my own images, I've been with Epson exclusively. My digital prints are quality images, printed on the many available Epson substrates - with perfect results. The Pro3800 is intuitive and easy to use, the switching between photo and matte inks is seamless, but takes a little time. So what. Coming from a wet darkroom experience in the past, time was something expected and desired for the outcome of a beautiful print. The printer's colors are spectacular, the black and whites are great, the manual is easy to understand and if followed, the results speak for themselves.Perhaps I should mention that my printer is upstairs in my studio, attached to my MacBook Pro and used only for the purpose of creating my photographs. The previous reviewer speaks of many other applications he had in mind for this unit. Perhaps his expectations somehow exceed the normal use for a printer of this caliber. But, I admit, I am no techno person, just an artist who is delighted with the performance of this printer. As to the shipping mishaps he has experienced, unfortunate, but does happen. I bought my printer through Amazon, and it arrived in tip top shape. Also, I've always had good customer support from Epson in the past, so don't know why he didn't.For you ..... prospective buyers ...... assess your printing needs first, look up other printers and independent reviews, then make an informed choice.West Cornwall, Connecticut

The e-mail notice of products shipped did not list the items, only the tracking number, although it said: "The following item(s) from your order number xxxxxxxxx have shipped. You will receive them shortly." Order was placed on 9/17, 2 packages (contents unlisted) shipped on 9/19, 1 arrived 9/22 and the other on 9/25. When I contacted customer support to inquire about the third item which did not arrive with the other cartridge, I was told that it had been damaged in transit and they were submitting a claim to the insurer. When I asked for the cartridge to be shipped overnight they declined. Nine days after placing the order, I still do not have the cartridge. I will not order anything from this company again.

I am a professional photographer and decided that I was tired of the horizontal banding on my 7600 whenever I did not use it for a few days always necessitating a head cleaning or two. After 6 years and 11,000+ prints I'm really not complaining about the 7600 but it was time to make a decision. After some research and discussions with dealers, I thought I'd give the 3800 the nod over the more expensive 4880 and I am happy to report that I am pleasantly pleased. With a much smaller footprint than the 7600, it gives nothing up in print quality and as a matter of fact beats the quality which really pleased and suprised me. Color matching with my monitor was perfect right out of the box another plus, no messing with profiles or rip's. Another plus was that the sheet feeding eliminates the curling you get with roll paper which was worse as you got towards the end of the roll. All these plusses and quieter operation too!I have gone 3 days without using it so far and the first print after that had no banding! At this point after 3 weeks use and about 200 prints, I am 100% satisfied with this product.

I have had this printer for a week now and all I can say is WOW! I was concerned after I read the reviews here but decided to buy anyway because of past experience with Epson, and I am so happy I did. When the box arrived I picked up the 'Start Here' booklet and within an hour and three prints (13"x19") I was getting better results than the stuff I had paid a professional lab $15.00 each for! No more, I just fired my lab.I am printing from Photoshop CS3 using Adobe RGB color space and ICC information. The prints are incredibly color saturated with great contrast to really 'pop'.I am absolutely in love with this printer!Another week:No change in my opinion, other than I like it even more. I printed 20 8x10 and 7 13x19 before having to add ink (Yellow and Cyan). Prints on Epson's fine art paper are fantastic! This is my last review.

We purchased the Professional version of the Stylus Pro 3800 which costs several hundred dollars more than the standard model.Unfortunately, we are on our third printer. Presumably this was sheer bad luck that we got a couple of lemons. The first printer failed shortly after purchase. The second one suffered a serious paper jam and had to be taken into an Epson service center (across the state I might add). They repaired it while my wife waited. However, it failed almost immediately upon being put back in service. On a positive note, Epson customer service has been excellent and when the printer works it produces excellent quality prints. However, it seems to have a paper feeding system prone to catastrophic jams and it does not do well with thick papers. Since this is supposed to be a professional model the inability to handle thick specialty papers and to use the full range of feeding options has been a major disappointment. We just put the third printer into service and it has worked with a few simple test prints. Maybe this one will be OK.We have owned a number of Epson printers over the years and this has been the only model that has been unreliable.

I bought 8.5x11 photo paper in advance of receiving for testing and etc and to my surprise the printer came with a packet of Luster Photo Papers(8.5x11).Working with PS CS3 for borderless printing took a while to figure out but I'm a printing fool now. Ive had this printer for over a year now, and its flawless. Wanted black and white prints that actually looked like black and white, with no color cast unless I put it there. It does that and more. 17x22's are beautiful. Its not a cheap printer, but ink savings are substantial considering the cost per ml is much lower than my previous 2200's Have already made my money back on this printer months ago from sales of framed photos, and photography is just a side thing for me now. If I could say anything bad at all about the 3800, it would probably be the cheap feeling output tray and front closing mechanism. Nothing has broken, but Im careful, it just feels kind of cheap. I expect better quality from Epson for a printer of this price. Because of this, I gave it 4 stars. As far as print quality, it gets a 5. You cant get bigger or better prints from any other manufacturer at this price.

Don't buy the optional ColorBurst RIP software. There's nothing wrong with the software, except that it only works with Epson papers. You can never add another paper to the list. The RIP is also hard to use and loves to print on absurd locations on the paper, even when you select "center."The printer itself is nice, and my one call to Epson support was handled well by a gentleman who was sympathetic to the castrated-RIP issue.Be prepared to spend at least $[...] more for a full-fledged RIP.

I've had this printer for over 9 months now with very very heavy usage and it works flawlessly. If you only use epson ink and paper designed for inkjet printers (not just epson media, but also things like Illford, Hahnemuhle, Moab) with the downloaded ICC profiles off of their respective web sites you'll get stunning results. I've printed maybe 5k pages out of this thing (some full bleed solid browns on 17x22) and have only replaced the light light black cartridge so far. The money you save on ink versus other printers is a selling point by itself. I upgraded from a 1280 and have used the 1800 and 2400 but this is by far the best and easiest printer to use. No more wrestling with paper settings or paper sizes... it just works.

The epson 3800 does exactly what I need it to. Print more prints than an amateur, with unflinching consistency, while keeping my costs down from the consumer level printers.By using larger 80 ml cartridges vs. the consumer 10ml cartridges, my ink costs have been reduced by over 60%. And that's a nice savings in my business. Of course it's nice to be able to print larger 17x22,17x25, or with custom paper, up to 17x36 sheets. But I usually stick with the 16x24 max. After that I send my work out to a pro custom lab. Finally, the reason I chose the 3800 over his big brother the 4000 is because of the size of the printer. the 4000 is a monster printer compared to the reserved footprint of the 3800. I have a small gallery that needs smart placement of my equip. The 3800 fits the bill perfectly.Another great note is that because my gallery is located just 4 miles west of Portola, CA. just an hour or so from Reno, NV. I get most of my shipments from Amazon within a day or two with the free ground shipping option!

I have to be careful every time I remove it, or else the 3800's rear paperguide detaches and falls off, gripped by the stiff and heavy fabric of the cover, whichis otherwise thoughtfully tailored to fit over the rear guide. One could argue thatEpson should have designed the rear paper guide to attach more securely to the 3800,but I wonder how much testing and tweaking the cover's designer did with their productsitting on an actual 3800. I recommend this cover with this one caveat.

I have tried both Matte and glossy, 4X6 to (finally!) 17X22, and everything works as advertised. A very notable difference may be seen when comparing printouts side-by-side with those from the other printers--a subtle improvement in shading and coloring from the SP3800. I had not even noticed a deficiency in the earlier outputs. It seems trite to say it, but the 3800 output just seems "more realistic." I have one photo of a rainbow over Niagara Falls, with the walk below in deep shadow. The SP3800 shadow has enough shading subtleties that the objects on this walk may be discerned. In my case, the SP3800 gives me more than I expected.

This is the third Epson printer I've owned and it will be my last. All three printers died about 13 months after purchase. My guess is Epson puts a chip in these things that's activated when you first plug the thing in. It keeps track of the days elapsed. When the printer gets past the warranty period, it activates another chip that clogs the print heads. This requires you to use up three or four cartridges of GENUINE EPSON ink at $25 a crack so they get you for another $100 bucks before you give up in frustration and ditch the piece of Chinese made junk in the American landfill.I'm sick of being ripped off like this. I'll outsource all my printing and have it done on real photo paper.Don't buy this rip-off machine.

It was OK for about 13 months, but has given me lots of problems since then. Basically it won't print, and a piece of plastic has broken off it so it's really had it now.I'm going to buy a new printer, and it won't be an Epson!

Throughout the first year or so of owning this printer, we experienced occasional problems with vertical banding of black and color ink. We thought it was probably because of the fact that we didn't use the printer a whole lot. The problem could be (annoying) fixed through cleaning the print head 1-3 times, and it would print fine. This was acceptable because we never had to rely on the job finishing quickly, and we hardly ever had large or multiple jobs.Well, after the first year or so, we started wanting to use the printer more frequently and that's when we realized that something was wrong. It turned out that even with semi-frequent use, we always had to clean the head multiple times (it got to the point that we had to clean the head around 6-7 times before getting a good print). This even occured with brand new ink cartridges. Sometimes, we had to clean the head between consecutive print jobs, and sometimes we had to break up multiple page jobs to clean the head in between. I am sure that had we fully put this printer to use early on, we could have caught this problem and had the printer, or at least print head, replaced. When it does print, it does a pretty decent job (although there are better printers out now), but we couldn't take it anymore and bought a new printer. We have tried everything that Epson's support page recommends and nothing prevents this problem.

I have had this printer for about 6 months now and have been very happy with it. I used it while on a job search and printed out at least 100 resumes and cover letters, all with excellent quality.Photographs look fantastic on Epson's glossy paper (only slightly less fantastic on other brands). I honestly think the pictures I print look better than the same pictures from the photo shop.CDs too look excellent. I haven't been able to get the labels *perfectly* centered, but they are pretty close.Minus one star for speed. While the quality is great, it takes a very long time to print a photo or a CD.

I was sucked into the hype from Rhinotek and decided to try them instead of Epson in my Stylus 900, since the Rhinoteks were more than 50% less expensive -- now, my printouts have gotten incredibly worse and I will never recommend knock-off carts to anyone.I just HOPE that my print heads are not destroyed from the Rhinotek cartridges.

I bought this printer and used it until I had to change the print cartidge. the ink holders are very flimsy and the clip broke without any undue pressure. needless to say it was not worth fixing. The picture were average but for the money were okay. replaced it with a epson r3oo and so far this one is much better made and the prints are great. price was reasonable too.

I bought this printer for printing on CD/DVDs and am very pleased with the results. The colors come out extremely well and sharp (when using epson ink) on full-faced printing. The included Windows software works very well. I have had no problems with it.You will have to do some setup work like adjusting the ink amount and colors depending on the type of inkjet media you buy. I had to go through at least 10 CDs to get the alignment and color close to perfect. Once I did that, I had no problems. Order some sample packs of inkjet media before you buy in bulk. I found that Ritek media didn't work well with this printer (left a vertical line down the left side of the disc). I found BeAll, Samsung, Optodisc, Verbatim, and Dupez inkjet media worked well with this printer.I would highly recommend buying this printer if you plan to print on CD/DVDs. It is well worth the money.

This printer was purchased to replace an older Epson printer. When shopping around, I was also impressed with a Canon photo printer for a much higher price. The decision was made to go with the Epson because of the ability to print directly on CDs. I made the right choice. After installing the printer, I was instantly able to print photo quality prints that are indistinguishable from the prints from the local photo shop. In addition, the printing on CDs is easy and produces great quality. I highly recommend this printer.

The Epson Stylus Photo 900 is a great printer for a reasonable price. It's print quality is excellent and it prints on many types of media including borderless prints (8x10, 5x7, 4x6), CD/DVD direct printing (on CDs and DVDs with a printable surface), roll feed (4 or 8 inch-wide) and banners.I've owned three previous Epson printers and this is clearly the best yet. It is reasonably fast, and very high quality. And for Mac users, all of its features work under both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9! This includes the CD/DVD printing and borderless and roll printing features. It does not have separate ink catridges for each color like its big brother the Stylus Photo 960, but it is about 60% of the price. All in all I am very satisfied. I wish Epson had come up with a better name, however. They previously offered a Stylus 900 (non Photo) about two years ago and people are bound to confuse the two in discussion.

I already had a printer and got this mainly because I was tired of using a magic marker to scrawl titles on my CD compilations. I am very impressed with how easy it is to print the CDs and what a good job the printer does. The CD printing software is easy to use. It comes with some insipid designs, but you can use your own images as background (and lighten them if you want) on the CD. You can also place your own images on the CD, not as background. The lettering (provide it's a single line) has an "auto-arch" option that keeps it concentric with the CD as you move it away from the center. The only drawback I've found is that it doesn't have a neat way of entering the track titles. Excellent capability at a good price.

I do digital photography, web and graphic designs and make CDs. There is no need to spend thousands of dollars on a CD printer when you can get this printer for less...This printed a 5x7 at a decent speed and with 100% photo lab quality on the supplied Epson Premium glossy paper. I have owned Canon and Lexmark printers and bought an Epson 875DC and loved the 875 best of all. Then I bought this printer and just flipped over the quality of this printer at a reasonable price. I have never bought a high end printer because i have never had a need to because of the quality that EPSON offers in all its models. If i ever break down and buy a high end printer it will definitely be an EPSON. I will be amazed if the output could get any better.

The Epson 900 will print directly on the cd's you burn . Some of the printers that do this cost 1k more .To write on a cd with a pen distroys it - stick on's come off and disable your player .Felt tips work but do not look as good as a picture and text printed right on your CD . This is a find.Bill McNellis

I have a friend who had an Epson printer and went with the cheap substitution ink. After that, his printouts were sub-par at best. So I just use the "genuine" Epson ink cartridges and haven't had a problem. There may be some knock-off brands that are fine but at present, I'm not confident in them.
