We replaced our old Lexmark 3-in-1 with this one. My sister has had an Epson for years. I did a lot of research to find a printer that did small office tasks as well as photo/graphics. This is it. My husband and I very pleased.

Stars were deleted for 1) an initial defective unit and 2) Failure to have a good workable android wireless app.First to all reading this: Read the installation instructions and follow them STEP-BY-STEP. The setup is not intuitive as one would think. I noted several reviews where the issue was failure to follow the instructions and not the fault of the instructions.Now to my review. The first 837 I bought stopped working during its initial set-up stage. The power button appears to have failed. I returned it and received a second unit.For the second unit the setup procedure (for wireless) went perfectly. Before I needed to use the installation CD (while following the written instructions), the unit's screen instructions quickly lead me through step-by-step to a perfect wireless setup. There was no need to use the CD and no need for a temporary USB cable (by the way, if you plan to connect via USB, the USB cable is not the standard USB to USB...it needs a specific connector to the 837)I am using it on a wireless network and wanted my Toshiba Thrive android tablet to access it. I found out too late that the Epson iprint app for android units does not let you send documents at this time....while the same program for Macs does...go figure.I tried Google Cloud Print which does work but took a while to research.The Thrive comes with its own wireless print app that only partially works but that's another review.Another complaint is that the unit defaults to cd/dvd mode and I have emailed Epson as to why and can that be corrected. If anyone has a solution, contact me.Yet another complaint/observation is that the ink supplied is Epson's standard cartridge (99) rather then their high capacity cartridge (98). So when you buy replacements buy the large capacity units.Finally the size of the cartridges is small. I have two other Epsons with cartridges that are twice the size (volume?).

The performance has been terrific using the Epson Artisan 837 all-in-one and I hope to enjoy it for some time.

First the bad.The wireless setup was a disaster to setup and get working.It would occasionally find the router (3 feet away).But not consistently.I finally opted to buy a 12 ft ethernet cable and hooked that up.It seems to be working now.At least the computers see it.Now the good. It looks great and is not at all noisy.Print quality is excellent.

Print quality not very good. Pictures print too dark. Paper feed deficient, takes more than one page often. Will return.

I have a Mac using Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8. I have been using an Epson WorkForce 840 Color Ink Jet Wireless All-in-One with Fax (C11CA97201) for several months now and I really like it. The ink lasts a long time (and is relatively cheap compared to some other brands) and it's dependable and all functions work great.I thought I'd give this Epson Artisan printer a try, and I am very impressed. Like the other Epson models I have tried, it is easy to set up for my Mac. Please note that if you have a OS system 10.5 or earlier you may have to go to the Epson site to get a software update, if you have 10.6 and above your computer should update for you.This all-in-one printer is sleek and fits easily on my desktop. The photos are just stunning and super easy to make. There are different and fun settings and options, although for me I just use the 4x6 prints. Like most of the newer Epson printers, the display window is large and easy to use. You can use the document feeder to make copies/scan/fax or lift the cover and set them on the flat-bed. The drawers for the paper may feel a little flimsy, but they aren't and I haven't had any problem with them so far.Although I do love this Epson Artisan printer, and it is smaller and sleeker than my Epson 840, for my personal needs I will continue to use the Epson 840 because of the ink - you go through ink a lot quicker in the Artisan printer (which makes sense because of the photos.) The black ink container is smaller and seems to run out faster.So you decide. If you want a very nice, small but very pretty all-in-one printer that makes lab quality photos quickly, this is your dream printer. But if you rarely make your own photos, and instead are concerned about keeping the cost of ink refills low, then you may want to go with another Epson.Highly recommended. Epson really makes a fine printer.Note - I've been using this printer for about a week. If I have any problems I will come back and edit and report them.

I bought the Artisan 837 as a replacement for an old HP Photosmart C5180 that, after 5 years, started printing with too much green in the photos. The Artisan was very easy to get onto my wireless (Apple) network. Did contact the Epson Tech Support about a problem in printing black/white (old) photos. The print always showed a rose tint to the photo.The color photos were excellent . Tech support had me download an app called EpsonScann. Turns out it could not "see" separate photos when several were scanned at once. Treated them all as one large photo.Too time-consuming to scan photos one at a time. Seems that Epson Scan was likely written for a Windows system. Switched to the Apple Image Capture software which resolved the multiple scan problem.Tech Support was very, very good (located in the USA) but could not resolve the rose tinting problem. I returned the printer to BestBuy, and swapped for a second Artisan 837. Unfortunately, it also tinted all black & white and greyscale photos. Returned it and swapped for an HP 7510 which produces great BW /greyscale and color photos.Pros; Great color printer, Very easy to install and setup. Worked great with all three iMacs, both iPhones, and an iPad2.If you are looking for a great color printer, you will really like this unit.Cons: All B&W and greyscale prints had a slight rose tint to them. Also the paper catcher tray was very thin plastic that protruded from the body when deployed. I felt that this was an accident looking for a place to happen.

Was glad to see this printer get released. It prints from any device, be it smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc. And the cd printing capability rocks! Aftermarket ink cartridges abound so cost of ownership is low.

This printer is fast and makes a great all-purpose machine. The best feature is that it connects instantly to all of my computers and my iPads and my iPhone. Copies and photos are sharp and the colors are accurate.

Opened product and made it to step 2 (plugging the unit in). Step 3 to press the power on button and select language and time didn't go so well. Power came on, blue indicator light flashed, screen went completely white. It never went beyond this screen. Called Epson customer service. They are shipping me a new one in 2-7 business days. I have to send this one back within 7 days after that or they charge my credit card for $60 more than I paid for it in the first place. Luckily I'm traveling for business and then vacation, so that will be really convenient.Who knows how it will work out, but it is a huge pain. So I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews.

This Epson printer is really great! Very happy with it. The ease and convenience of a wireless printer is obviously a big plus. Not at lot of unsightly wires to deal with and you can put it anywhere in the room; you're not chained to your PC--you can even put it in a completely different room from the one in which you're using your computer. Having the printer, copier, scanner and fax in one unit is obviously a huge space saver. The Epson Artisan prints extremely nice quality photos. They look rich and professional and the ability to easily print photos in all different sizes with the press of a button is nice. I don't know a lot of tech-savvy stuff, so I won't comment on the specifics of technical details, but the quality of everything I've printed, from documents to photos is exceptionally good. Scanning items is a breeze and making copies a cinch. I'ts rather large, but takes up less space than having a separate scanner, etc. The black surface is nice, but does attract a lot of dust, so it does require frequent dusting. Handy, easy to use and of good quality. I'd recommend and definitely buy another from Epson in the future.

This was a replacement for my 4 y/o HP Photosmart. I thought it would be faster but it is about the same as the HP. The paper tray is actually a bit more difficult to load than the HP. All the functions work OK and the print quality is good. Overall, its just OK in my opinion.

I'm really not sure why Epson's Artisan 837 has the word "Artisan" within its title. It's a great printer if you're ONLY going to print on textweight paper and photo paper. However, if you like to print on CARD STOCK or coverweight papers -- this is NOT the All-in-One Printer to buy! I've had several Epson printers over the years... and I've never had a problem loading card stocks and heavier coverweight papers in the top-feeding paper tray. That was one of the primary reasons I've always loved Epson printers so much. But, now that Epson has elected to go with a bottom paper tray... card stocks and heavier papers either get JAMMED in the printer... or refuse to take heavier papers AT ALL. For those of us who print stationery/notecards/greeting cards, etc... the Epson Artisan 837 is NOT THE ANSWER! NOT at all. If you're looking for a printer that will take various thicknesses of card stock and heavier papers... the Epson Artisan 837 is NOT FOR YOU!Epson: Please bring back your top-loading paper trays... OR find a way for your lower-tray feeders to accommodate heavier papers and card stocks!

I was extremely disappointed with all aspects of this printer's performance. The final print quality is acceptable, however the s-l-o-w throughput and frequent necessity of manual action (paper jams, etc) make working with this printer a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

We purchased this about a year ago. It is on our home wi-fi network so we can print documents from a laptop computer as well as our desktop. The paper tray is a little flimsy and awkward to get at but otherwise we have no complaints. We don't print a huge amount of material but it is quick and also does double-sided printing without jamming.

When I clicked the old mouse, the computer locked up fairly freuestly. That has not happenmed with the new mouse, plus some parts of the program I simpy could not access. Now everything works.Besides, its fast and comfortable

I was hoping to use this printer via WiFi from across the room. At first it worked great, then stopped working completely. The printer always indicated that it was connected, but the computer insisted it wasn't. After numerous attempts I was able to reconnect the WiFi by reinstalling the printer, but it went out a few weeks later and I couldn't get it to work again. I caved and moved the printer next to my desk and connected it via cable. It is bulky and loud, so it would have been nice to have a little distance. A full ink supply costs about $100 - so the ink isn't cheap. I like the duplex feature, but it jams often. The print quality is good. I do not use it for photos so cannot comment on that topic.The Positive: Has a duplex feature (when it works); decent quality printing; has a scanner, copier and paper feeder; lots of featuresThe Negative: WiFi is unreliable; ink is expensive; will not function if any color ink runs out; jams frequently when using duplex; noisy and bulky

I am very impressed with this printer on a number of levels. The ease of set-up was phenomenal, pretty much plug it in and it was ready to go. Since it is wireless, it allowed easy mapping of all of our home computers and laptops to the system.The touch screen is easy to see and use and I like that it tells you exactly what is going on (connecting printers, getting ready to print, etc.)This is a big one for me - the sound! This is one of the most quiet printers I have used. A big deal because I like to get work done while my kids are sleep. In the past, I had to wait until everyone in the house was awake before I could print because machines were so loud. This printer is very quiet.The print quality and color matching are top notch. I haven't tried printing pictures on photo paper yet, but everything else I had done and the color is absolutely wonderful. I do a weekly full color newsletter and that print is amazingly beautiful.I have had this for only two months, so I can't comment on how it will do over time. However, for now it is excellent - not just "for the price", but overall this is a great printer. I would feel very comfortable recommending it for the average home printing needs - including those with a small home based business.Update: This printer is still working very well! I tried out another feature that I am really impressed with - the two sided printing option. It worked great and automatically (no more trying to manually do two sided printing). I have used the fax option very well and it even faxed a colored transcript well. At this point I have tried all the features of this printer, copier, scanner, and fax and they all work as advertised. This printer is holding up extremely well and the only thing I have had to do is add more ink because we use it so often!

My printer arrived in a reasonable time. The box was undamaged and everything appeared intact as I set it up. When I asked it to print it went through the motions but no ink ever appeared on the pages.I made a couple of calls to Epson support and they were unable to fix it. I wound up sending it back to the vendor. Two or three times I've told myself to never buy another Epson. I was really interested in the photo printing capabilities and forgot all about what a PITA their printers have been.Tek Depot says I have to pay the return postage which I think is unfair. I never got a single print from the unit.

Very easy to use...and I am not that smart when it comes to electronics! I would recommend this to anyone.

PRior to it reaching it's limit (more later)it will print only if ALL color cartrages are in place!EVEN IF B$W....It will reach it's # of prints that EPson sets, and forces you to have it brought intoa Otherized repare center.... They want it to only work for 2years tops...and then you have a very exspensive PAPER WEIGHT...SCAM...

I called Epson and asked exactly which printer would best fit my needs. The Artisan 837 was their suggestion. When it came, the box had been heavily damaged, with big open holes punched in two sides. I told the Fed Ex driver that I didn't want to accept it, but he came in with me and together we unpacked it. Honestly, it looked fine. He left, and the next day I installed it. I had a nasty time getting it to feed paper properly, but finally it seemed to accept regular paper stock (but never multiple photo paper pages). A week later, I tried scanning for the first time and the scanner is tilted about 5 degrees -likely from whatever punched holes in the packing case. I wish I could get a repleacement, but I'd thrown the original packing away.We print checks that come three on a page. If you buy this printer, you can forget that. To do that is an absolute pain in the rear.I wrote a review for Epson, and they rejected it. Nothing about this has been what one would expect to have happen.Dr. Michael Wagner
