Crappiest printer ever. Don't get me wrong, the print quality is great, when it decides it'll accept the paper type. I'm even printing on epson photo paper and I get paper jam messages more often than not. Forget trying to use a fine art paper. I bought this at Best Buy and really wish I'd not lost the receipt cause if I had it I'd take this hunk of junk back in a heartbeat. If you only need to print on common paper, buy it, though why you'd need a 6 color archival printer to print on anything but photo and fine art papers I don't understand. Much more trouble than it's worth, a waste of nearly $300.

I love this printer. It sets up easily and I am very happy with the photo print quality. I would definitely recommend this printer.

Artisan is exactly what it says it is! Purchased specificly for printing CD labels and it does an awesome job.

Commercial product. Received right on time, well packaged and works just as expected in my EPSON 900 Stylus printer. Would purchase again.

I have owned two HP printers before going to Epson. They both gave me nothing but trouble. The Epson Artisan 837 set up easily and has performed flawlessly for months. I dumped the first two, but I'll keep this one.

First of all, there is absolutely NO difficulty removing the cover with the rear feed in place. To prevent any tendency of dislodging the rear feeder in the process, lift the front part of the cover off the printer first, then lift the whole cover easily off the printer. When you install the cover, retrace those steps: place the cover over the rear assembly first and then pull the front of the cover over the front edge of the printer. Nothing could be easier.It's a beautifully made cover, as has been previously described, and part of the seemingly hefty price can be chalked up to the Tumi surcharge, but, as with so many things, you really get what you pay for.The fit is absolutely ideal, and there are a few small nicely placed button vents in the rear for air circulation, but not enough to allow dust to be a problem.Highly recommended, and an overall good value, even at its price point.

The quality of the print images is great. The printing process using my 4 or 5 year old Dell computer takes a LONG time...definitely more than 3 minutes to "send" a print job from this computer, so that is annoying.It was much more difficult to set up this printer on our wireless network than it was to set up our previous Dell printer. Also, the quick set up guide offered no help with setting up the fax with a dsl connection. Consequently, I can send faxes, but not receive them.overall, the printer seems to be a quality product...just wish the set up instructions were more clear and easier to follow. Oh, and the slow processing of print jobs is a drag!

I honestly have yet to come across a bad printing product made by epson. This printer is no exception. Setup is quick and easy. Printy quality is great. Picture quality on quality photo paper. The scanner works well for both document and regular photos. It has fax capability but I have no cause to use it or even hook it up so I can't speak to that. All in all given the nice size of this printer, I think it makes a good gift for a college student living in the dorm or in a small apartment with limited space.

Our whole family is in love with this printer. The wireless printing function has made our lives so much easier. It even prints photos from our iPhones. The printing clarity and color is great. This is one of the most used items in our house full of students (besides the carpet and fridge). We have not used the fax function since none of us has sent a fax since 1998.

Not in a good way. It jammed every single time I tried to print a page. It had serious issues with feeding the paper.When I tried making copies, it inexplicably blew up the size to be 50% larger than the original, and printed at a very skewed angle.When it does print, it is very fast and good quality (can't say the same for the copy function).It was surprisingly easy to set up, considering the wireless aspect.This is an okay printer when it works. But having to clear a jam every 5 seconds is beyond frustrating, especially since this is supposed to be a higher end printer.

I have been using my printer for a few weeks now and I love it! It prints with nice, vivid colors. I love the touch screen controls. The ink goes a long way, and I like that when the black runs out, the other colors will kick in and allow you to print black things for much longer (although it is not as dark as the real black). It is very easy to install and set up. I love that it is just hooked up via the wi-fi network, instead of actually plugging into the computer. I love that you can print from mobile devices, like my iPod touch and iPad. Excellent printer!

This is my second Epson Artisan printer and I couldn't be happier with it. I think it took longer to get it out of the box and unwrapped than it did to get it set up and printing! Installation onto my wifi network took just a few minutes and after the initial set up check it goes through which takes about 7 minutes I was printing with no issues from my MacBook Air. Color reproduction and quality is outstanding on photo prints. There is little to no movement when this printer prints (it's a bit on the heavy side) and it's relatively quiet compared to some of the inkjets I've worked with. This is an excellent all in one printer and I definitely recommend it!

After MUCH study I just replaced my HP5650 Printer home use printer with the Epson837. If you're looking right now there is a $50 trade allowance (from Office Max) that reduced their already good $179.99 price to $129.99...Set up was about 1+ hour for an amature who took his time. All very straight forward and easy to do...just DON'T connect the printer to the computer until told to do so. My wifi was open and it instantly connected to my IPhone4 to make a beautiful 4"/6" print.I'll update later if anything less than perfection occurs. I just wanted to be sure the trade discount was reported.

Great product for the money. Sounds great. Easy to install. Much better than the Pioneer system I had previously. Highly recommended

Sets up in about an hour or less. Makes nice pictures just like the originals. However, you must have all of your paper settings, etc. exactly right to get the best results. It scans and sends faxes, which is convenient, will also take a fax for you. Over all a very nice printer, with good color. It can do just about any copying or printing that you need done. The only bad thing I can think of is the cost of the ink cartridges. However you can find generic brands for less money.

Hey guys i does design flyers,poster,photo work,cd labor in more and with this printer next to you,trust me you can never go wrong..the quality picture is very good,all you need is couple Premium photo paper glossy and your good to go.I never once try no other brand den HP all in one,but for some reason they never last that long or alway given me sometype of issue..so after reading all them other review i deside to try it out and i love it..

This is such a great printer - it's compact and has a nice, bright touch-screen. It prints FAST and pages come out looking great. The picture printing quality is great as well - it takes a little adjustment (my first pictures came out dark), but after changing some settings it was good to go. It's will even print on printable CDs! I love that this printer does it all - prints, copies, faxes. What a great value!

This printer is great! I've tried printing photos on the few pieces of photo paper they provided and it looks unbelievably good. Fast printing of black and white too.The setup instructions were incredibly clear, and I got it on my network and running incredibly quickly. The instructions for being able to print from my iPhone were clear and easy to complete. I LOVE being able to just print from my phone!It's a fairly big unit, so if you have a small space available, check the dimensions.

I've had a lot of printers over the years and this Epson Artisan is by far my favorite. The color prints are precise and and bright, black and white prints are sharp and there are a million (or so it seems) features. The Epson Artisan was easy to set up and the wireless feature worked the first time I tried it. I am not the most experienced computer person, and everything that can be said about this printer has already been said in other reviews, but as a casual computer user I am over the moon about this printer.

This is a well made, tailored and sturdy cover. Fits over the 3880, with rear manual feeder attached, very well. MUCH better than a garbage bag (come on, folks, really?? This printer is an investment and a workhorse that I want to take good care of, and this fits the bill.) It would be prettier in silver nylon, to match the printer, but the black and red Tumi colors are sharp and the lines are very clean.

I found this printer/copier/fax machine easy to set up and love the wireless aspect. It will make life so much easier. And the color printing is fabulous. I now will do all my printing with this machine. The only bad aspect is that it takes many cartridges and I can foresee a large ink expense.

I have seen this product demonstrated as to every one of its many capabilities. Most impressive. Economics being what they have been and presently are, I'd chosen to defer purchase for a while longer. And so, I am certainly both amazed and well pleased that Amazon has made it possible for me to own this unit now. I'd heard grumblings that the Vines program seems largely a method of disposing of surpluses of unnotable books and scads of little samples. Obviously, not so! Thank you, thank you, Amazon Vines !

I'll start with a short review since I just got the printer and have only run 5 prints through it. I will update in a week or so with more information.Setup and installation was easy. I have it on my network for my Windows machines and it is connected directly to my Mac Pro. The install documentation said to get the latest driver for Leopard off of their site, which I did and installed with no problem. The latest Windows driver was on the installation CD.The reason I called this review "State of the Art" is Epson developed Radiance, the new color-matching technology built into the R1900. This is the first printer with it, even the current Epson Pro printers don't have it. [...] has an article about it.The few pictures I have printed are beautiful and they printed very fast.I printed 3 on Epson's Ultra Premium luster 8.5 x 11 paper using Photoshop CS2. I tried different settings for each print of the same standard color matching target. All three printed very nice and as expected, a little different. Using "Photoshop Determines Colors", "Printer Determines Colors" and "No Color Management", with appropriate settings on the printer driver. So it will be up to you to decide which settings you want to use.Next, as a test I printed a photo, of my daughter, on plain HP Bright White paper. WOW, is all I can say. Plain paper and it looked great.For my last test I picked a random paper size, 12" x 12", that I cut from a 13" x 19" sheet of matte paper. I changed the paper size in the driver and printed. No problem, it printed just fine and also was beautiful.I plan on getting a roll of paper too. I've wanted to print some banners, something I couldn't do with my current Canon I9900.So far it is everything I expected it to be. However, I do plan on keeping the I9900 because sometimes I know I will want a dye (not pigment) print (and I still have Canon ink and paper left).I will post more soon.Update 3-10-08:I have been playing with the settings on the driver to see which I like best. It is a good/bad thing that there are so many settings to play with. I figure I will eventually figure out which I like best. There are subtle differences in color, skin tones and gray scales on the gray scales. If you are interested in the test targets, you can download the printer test images I used from [...]I will start printing some of my real pictures to compare with the I9900 versions. So I will post another update in a week or two.I tried a roll in the printer. It was surprising easy to set up and use. You put the holders on the roll, mount it on the back of the printer, then feed the paper into the printer in the slot on the back. The printer recognizes you are doing it, then grabs the paper to feed in to the proper starring point.If you print multiple images, the printer spaces them 1" apart. Unfortunately, Epson still has it's artificial limit length of 44". There are expensive RIPs (raster image processors) that will allow you to printer longer images, but unless you are going to do this a lot, it can't be worth it. The cheapest I found is $500.I've decided that I probably will not use the "roll" on the printer. I want to printer banners every so often, but to use the roll for one print wastes about 10" of paper. That is the initial feed of about 4" and when you cut it on the back to free it, another 6". If you are printing many prints on a roll, then it will be worth it and easier. I suggest (and what I did in my second test), was just cut a 44" of paper (from the roll) and feed it though the (normal) auto paper feeder and that worked fine for the banner without any waste.As for ink usage, I've hardly made a dent with the 10 8x10s, 1 12x12, 3 8.5 x 44 prints I've made. The banners were not printed at high resolution to save ink for my testing. I love Amazon, but it's ink prices for this printer are currently way out of line. Even the Epson store has them for way less. I hope that changes soon.Update 3-26-08 (my last update).After printing 25 more 8x10 high resolution (and in slow mode for better quality), I finally ran out of ink in one cartridge (and it was the gloss optimizer). After more reading, I think I used the wrong setting for the gloss and was wasting it on white area outside of the image. I'm still learning.Some of the other inks are pretty low, so I have stocked up.I still have not printed on a DVD/CD yet, but I'm sure that will be fine.There is not much more for me to say except I am very happy with this purchase and expect to use this printer for the next 3-4 years, when I'm sure something else out there will get my attention.Update 3-22-11Epson just announced the R3000. By the specs, it looks to be the replacement for the R1900. The list price of the R3000 is $850 but the R3000 comes with and uses the Epson UltraChrome K3 ink set, which are the larger inks that cost $40-$50, but are 8x larger than the R1900 inks, which meant to me when I got the R3880 (that use the same ink

I have had alot of printers since the computer era began but as the years go on they keep producing better and better products and this is one of the best. The colors on this was the first thing I noticed sometimes you get to much gloss or lines but so far they have been much better than expected. One of the best printers out there that wont break the bank.Oh-and my favorite was set up, was so simple it put a smile to my face when I was done!

I must've got a bad one of the epson artisan color inkjet wireless all-in-one with fax. After 2days & about 6hrs I still can't get it to recognize its ink cartrides or my wireless. I really can't give it a review on its features except to say we tried everything including software updates to no avail. At this point I don,t think the one I have is very user friendly.It has been highly frustrateing experience.

Great costumer service. I Use my printer a lot and I would say that this is by far the best printer I owned. I love printing HD photos with this printer, it gives me that image quality that my old printer didn't.

I have used this printer for several months. The print output in texts and graphics is excellent and so is the photo quality. The install is automatic and went perfect even considering all the ways this product can connect,wireless, Ethernet, usb.It used dye ink which yields stunning page - it is very, very fast and most of all it is economical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone already said how nice this printer is. I bought it to go with a Hotzone360 CISS Ink system that Amazon sells. I was tired of paying a lot for ink so I went ink shopping to find the cheapest ink, then I bought a sweet printer to match the ink. If you get this printer search Amazon for "837 CISS Ink" to save yourself 95% on all future ink. Now my wife and 3 and 5 year olds can print all they want for about 1 cent a page.

Got the printer 2 weeks ago to replace my older Stylus photo RX620. Epson rock this one. I set the printer up in no time. My Mac and Windows Laptops have no issues connecting to print. Pics print out very nice.

Stylus Pro 3800 Tumi Printer CoverThis is well made cover, and fits the printer like a glove.Well worth the money paid.

I own other Tumi products. This Epson 3880 cover is excellent. It fits nicely over my new printer. The quality is superb, as expected from Tumi. I would recommend this cover to anyone for their Epson 3880.

Be careful with this ink cartridge, to be sure you get the correct one for your machine.I have an Epson 4880, not a 4800. In some places on the site and on my order, it is listed as for the 4880. That is not true. This is actually "light magenta" not "VIVID light magenta" and can only be used in the older model.I like to keep my ink stocked ahead, and by the time I put it into use, it was too late to return it. Waste of a lot of money!Buyer beware...

Bought this for my Epson 3880 as my office has major dust issues--works great--snug fit, but easy to get on and off. I gave it four stars only because I think it's overpriced, but it's a high-quality cover and beats the towel I was throwing over the printer before!

I have to say that this printer has been blowing me away! I have been thinking about getting a larger-format photo printer for some time, as my Epson Stylus CX5200 is getting tired and outdated. I am using the R1900 with an iMac and OSX 10.4.9. My camera is a Canon PowerShot SD900 (10.0 MP).I expected the printer to come with some paper samples to try, so I didn't order large-format paper until I received the printer and found that there were NOT any samples. So, I played around with some paper I had on hand until the bigger paper came. First, I printed out a flyer for a concert that contained both text and a color photo. Like another reviewer, at first I didn't realize how many different settings there are for print and paper quality. Using bright white paper and a "photo paper setting" on the computer, the photo was disappointingly flat. I looked around the menu options on the computer, and under the "print settings" menu, I could go with "Plain/Bright White Paper," and then the print quality was excellent.One application that I haven't seen mentioned here (it's specialized, I know!) is printing sheet music. My CX5200 often splits the lines or gets kind of fuzzy if the ink is starting to get low, but with bright white paper or heavier, the R1900 prints out incredibly clear music notation - something I will use it for often.The large photo paper I ordered in sheet form is Ilford Premium Photo Pearl Paper in 13"X19" size. Two shots were of the beach and one was of an iris that I took on a macro setting. All three came out spectacular. The detail of the flower is just incredible, as is the purple color.Next I tried some Epson borderless 4"X6" premium glossy photo paper. I printed out some color shots and a black and white one - all superlative. I didn't encounter any drops of ink on the edges of the photos as was mentioned by someone earlier.Then I tried a shot of my black and brown dog on the beach on Kodak Premium Picture Paper that is 8 1/2"X11". That's the only print I'm a little disappointed with, but, to be fair, this is an older package of photo paper that might have been improved over the past several years. All of the rest of the prints have been dry to the touch as soon as I took them out of the printer, but this print still feels kind of damp after more than an hour.I'm still in shock (GOOD shock!) about the last three prints I did, which were on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper on a 13"X32.8' roll. One is a shot I took with the zoom on my camera of a harbor seal sunning itself in the surf. The details on the animal and the water are eye-popping. The second one was of two brown pelicans flying over the surf (I live on the Oregon Coast and that's where I take most of my photos!) - again, breathtaking detail in the wings of the birds as well of the movement of the water. The third is again of the ocean, but this one is almost all blues of varying shades and large areas of sky. This was a good test, because often on other printers, large areas of smooth textures end up with lines or other imperfections in the prints. This one is perfect.I just checked the ink levels, and not surprisingly, the blue and black are low, but I've printed quite a few very large prints without any problems. It would be nice if the ink levels stayed high forever, but for the money I'm saving in not having to send out for enlargements, I'm happy.I feel very confident that I could enter these prints in a competition and do well. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas! I give this printer both thumbs up and highly recommend it. My only word of caution is to be sure your camera has enough MPs to enlarge the prints to the maximum level. One of the reasons I bought this particular camera is that the prints are supposed to be clear up to 16"X20". Not all digital cameras can do that. I'll keep my CX5200 for everyday printing, but all of the important things will go through the R1900. Love it!!!

Good value for the money. This ink is hard to find in a store, so you have to shop around to find the best deal. This is where I buy it regularly.

I have had 3 incidents of this printer failing to recognize newly opened cartridges. The printer will give you the "out of ink status" and will not function at all at that point. I called Epson and was told that the cause was a faulty computer chip in certain ink cartridges (matte black, magenta were my culprits) and that they were working on it. The printer is only good if you have cartridges that work and Epson is knowingly selling defective cartridges. If, like myself, you miss a deadline because you naturally assumed you were being sold something that worked, you are out of luck. I will be sending this printer and all my useless cartridges back.Update:Was told that I could not get my money back, only another printer. This solves nothing. I was told to call Customer Relations (another toll call). After this person spoke with her higher ups, she admitted that there was a problem with a "batch" of ink and that they corrected it and they would send me more ink. If you notice, the first review of this ink problem on this site was back in August. That is a pretty long batch run wouldn't you say? I asked for verification of the problem and the date it was resolved. She told me she couldn't give me that. I told her about the missed deadline and that I could not accept jobs with this printer unless she could guarantee that I would not experience this problem again. She told me she could not do that and then graciously told me there are no guarantees in life. Remember, they knew about this at least back in August and I just bought my defective ink therefore they have been selling this ink knowing it was defective and this is the response I get from Epson. I told her I wanted to speak to someone who could verify the resolve date of this problem and I am expecting a call back.update:Rep calls and thinks I am concerned with tracking my new ink. I explain (again) the whole story and that I was waiting for verification of the resolution date of the ink cartridges so I could make a paper trail of my communication. He says this sounds like a satisfaction problem and he will forward to correct department and get back. This is the fourth department I have been handed to. Where is the "we tried to *&^% you and got caught so we will give you back your money" department?update:just got my replacement cartridge for the two defective matte blacks. They sent me a red cartridge. I will update if I hear back about the exact date the ink was resolved.update:I had to call them back and was told basically the same thing: a bad batch, hardly ever happens, won't get your money back, and yes, there are no guarantee's in life( should be their slogon), and that she could not give me the resolve date. I told this woman about all your bad reviews here about the ink and she said that you are welcome to your opinion!She is sending me a whole set of new ink as a bandaid to this problem.. and if one is defective, that's a whole set of worthless ink.shame on you Epson!If you must have this printer be prepared to have a supply of cartridges on hand and make a lot of toll calls to get replacements. Also, the roll paper feature is terrible. You must have it perfectly square to feed and it is very difficult to cut canvas square due to the fabric grain. Expect a lot of wasted hours and wasted canvas.

I've had this since March 2008. I like the large capacity ink cartridges which last a long time. I print mainly on Red River Paper using the RR profiles and have no complaints about print quality at all. I've printed hundreds of prints from 4x6 to 17x25 and have only had to clean the print heads (using the printer utility) a couple times. I've replaced the maintenance cartridge once. I print almost exclusively on glossy paper, though. If I switched back and forth from glossy to matt, I think I'd go through more ink and more maintenance cartridges also. One minor point...you've got to use this printer regularly. If it's been a week since you printed something, then at least go print a nozzle check. An acquaintance left his 3800 for almost a month. Getting it working again was expensive.It does make typical pigment ink prints, so they initially don't look as good as dye prints, especially if your subjects have a lot of white and therefore get no ink in those areas. On occasion, I also see the famous tracks in the ink, but not very often. I can't really figure out the combination of circumstances that causes the tracks, though, and that can be an expensive matter with 17x25 prints!My only serious complaint is that this big, big printer is really flimsy. Even though it is fairly expensive, I don't see this as a professional or commercial grade printer by any strech of the imagination. I'm sure that in a working shop, this plastic wonder would last about three days! When you move it, that becomes obvious, as it creaks and squeaks from lack of rigidity in the case. So far the latch that holds the output tray in its closed position has broken. Also, the plastic guides that hold the input trays in their extended position partly broke. In both cases, I was able to continue using the printer after judicious use of Velcro(r) and Superglue(r). Anyone who is "rough" with their equipment may have to change their ways when working with this.All that said, if you treat this printer as though the case is made of eggshells and don't switch back and forth from glossy to mat and back, you should be very happy with the 3800.

I have long been invested in a competitor's brand when it came to high-quality inkjet printing, and making the switch to not only a new printer but also a new vendor was a tough decision. As a professional photographer (Member, NPPA), I carefully coordinate ICC color profiles for true color fidelity from lens to monitor to print. No sub-$2000 printer - until now - has ever satisfied me. Epson's R1900 is a STEAL even at full retail price. The color fidelity, gamut, and smooth skin tones are unmatched and are more true to life than the professional digital printing service that I formerly used (and have since fired). Your operating costs are not going to be as low as if you purchase a cheap big-box-store style photo printer - you'll go through ink faster than with other brands (especially the Gloss Optimizer, which covers the entire print with a fantastic gloss coat when selected, but which is fortunately sold in a low-cost 4-pack). Even with higher ink costs, if you're looking at this product, you're probably already ready to take your game to the next level. Although this printer will produce stunning prints on any media, you really need to try printing on Epson paper with Epson's ICC profiles installed - words cannot describe the quality of the prints produced. The first 11x14 I printed not only took my breath away but also that of the fellow professional photographers staring over my shoulder. The Gloss Optimizer cartridge and newly formulated inks are a clear improvement over this model's predecessor (R1800) and produce fantastic glossy prints. You have to see it to believe it - you will not be disappointed. Also consider purchasing paper and ink directly from the Epson store - the prices are better than I have found elsewhere online - and there are frequently sales on their higher-end papers that make the per-print cost much lower.

Some said hard to put on their 3800s or 3880s, but I spent all of 3 seconds sliding my new cover on my 3880. Looks great and will keep the dust off my wonderful tool while keeping my work center looking organized and efficient. Good job Tumi.

For this review, I'll be comparing to my designed-for-matte-paper Canon Pixma Pro9500 photo printer. The Epson R1900 photo printer is designed more for glossy prints, so it's interesting to compare the two.Test bed:MscBook Pro, OS X 10.5.5Apple Cinema Display 23", color-calibrated with a Spyder2 Pro.Adobe Photoshop CS3Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paperIlford Inkjet Glossy Photo paper.The box is packaged as you might expect. Tape all over the place. Once you get the printer de-taped, you'll find an assortment of ink cartridges, and, *generously*, an extra gloss optimizer cartridge. I purposely put an asterisk on either side of that work, because this cartridge is notorious for running out rather quickly.After getting the printer set up, cartridges installed, it's time to install the drivers. This goes smoothly - stick the CD in the drive and you're away.OK, let's move on to printing. After editing a few shots in Photoshop with a very specific color cast, I printed them on both my Canon Pixma Pro9500 and the Epson R1900 with the correct paper profiles for each, and using both paper types listed above. The difference was not huge, but being able to compare the two, it was obvious which was more accurate: the Canon. No question. The Epson added a slight yellow cast to each photo, which drives me nuts. The Canon was spot on each time. Interestingly, I purchased the Ilford glossy paper specifically for this review, and was blown away that the Canon had no trouble at all printing to it, and produced a much more pleasing tone compared to the original image. This said, and to the Epson's credit, the actual print quality is VERY comparable between the Canon and the R1900.But, frustratingly, the Epson R1900 seems incapable of properly printing borderless. First, it crops a little off all four edges, whereas the Canon crops an almost unnoticeable amount by comparison. But worst of all, every Epson borderless print left a few ink spots on the very right hand edge of every landscape shot. I called Epson directly and they said it was "normal" for borderless shots to get an excess of ink on the edges. Fair enough, but the Canon has no such trouble, so this is disturbing to those who want to feed a 4x6 and end up with a 4x6 print without a border to trim.Lastly, the printer was used a few times this week, and as of the morning this review was written, the prints coming out were disastrous, akin to a Polarioid halfway through its "transformation" process. I ran a nozzle test, and indeed, the ink must have somehow dried out overnight. I had to a run a full head clean, which resolved the issue. Again, I can't help but make the comparison that the Pixma Pro9500 has never had this issue since the day I got it, many months ago. Not impressive that the Epson has this issue after several days...Overall, I can't really recommend this printer. It crops the edges too much, gets ink on the edges on borderless prints, doesn't print accurate colors even after calibration, and eats ink like you wouldn't believe. And the jet clogging has just left me paranoid...2/5

Electronics like dust; the collect it like it is mana from heaven. This can be very bad with a photo printer; the last thing you want is for a lot of dust to collect on your printer and then makes its way onto to your photo while it is printing. Thus, dust covers are a must!Sure there are plenty of generic dust covers out there, but most of those are made from plastic which discolors and dries out and doesn't hold up very well in the long run. That is where the Tumi Printer Cover for the Epson 3800 comes in. I was a little skeptical of the price at first because of my past experiences with printer covers; but, once I received it, I could see what I was paying for. This is not your typical printer cover.The Tumi Printer Cover is well constructed of ballistic nylon - the same stuff used to make indestructible outdoor gear bags. And, it fits perfectly over my Epson 3800, completely covering down to the table it sits on, and it leaves little space under it for pockets of air full of dust to enter.Like another reviewer, I have noticed that installing and removing the cover takes a little effort because of the rear paper feed, but that is only because Epson hung it off the printer with little to secure it. I have found that once you do it a couple of times, it is not a problem.

I've owned this printer for about a year now and I think it performs reasonably well.There are two significant issues with the unit I own:1) Occasionally it will refuse to recognize a replaced cartridge, but Epson has been very good about sending free replacements. The only issue is the waste of time and frustration when this happens. So far it happened to me on two occasions. Both times Epson replaced the defective cartiridges overnight. I did not even have to call them, just send them an e-mail and get a very quick response.2) I wasted half a roll of canvas trying to load it as per Epson instructions. The unit would accept the edge of the roll, but as I would send a print job in, it would report a media jam every time. Pressing the jam clearing button would result in the printer advancing a blank piece of canvas forward, while the roll back-up button would do nothing and I would have to pull the canvas out of the unit manually, damaging the canvas in the process and risking destroying the printer as well. I tried to follow Epson instructions twice with the same result and then decided to pre-cut the canvas roll to pieces of required length and feed them via a cut-sheet feeder. This approach worked like a charm - no jams and no problems. I got great prints of any length I needed. I will never use the crappy roll feeding system on this unit again.I gave the unit 4 stars to account for the two issues above.

I'd think seriously before buying this printer. I purchased this printer about 6 weeks ago after NAPP members were offered a discount. I purchased it directly from the Epson Store. I watched the video tutorials on how to get the best results using the R1900 and printing out of Lightroom that were provided on www.photoshopuser.com. I was DELIGHTED at the output and the quality. Never had my printer output so closely matched that of my calibrated monitor, and the 13x19 inch glossies were stunning. I was THRILLED...UNTIL...about 5 weeks after purchasing the printer I had to replace the Gloss Optimizer cartridge. This runs out fairly quickly as it is applied to the entire photo regardless of colors. Fine, I had extra genuine Epson cartridges I had purchased from a national retailer. Even though it was the correct cartridge the printer would not recognize it, then remembering that Epson had sent an extra Gloss cartridge, I dug it out thinking I had indeed bought the wrong one. I replaced it with the one Epson sent and all was good. I confirmed I had the RIGHT cartridge, and chalked it up to a defective cartridge. No biggy, it happens...THEN the Cyan ran out. I replaced it with a cartridge that I bought directly from the Epson store and had the same issue. The printer says it's an incompatible cartridge. IT is NOT. I called Epson support on Friday and they said they would send me a new cartridge and that it would be 3-5 days. Fine, but in the meantime I had prints that needed to be printed, so I again went to a retailer and bought a cyan cartridge. Not recognized. I googled the issue and found that other users had had the same issue, and that Epson had replaced their printers with brand new ones. I called Epson again. They said that they would only replace with a refurb since I was past the 30 day mark since I purchased, AND according to the Epson Warranty, I'LL be on the hook for shipping the defective printer to them. Problem is, I'm sure this printer was defective from day one, but since I didn't print a WHOLE lot right away, the cartridges didn't need replacing until after the 30 day return was up,and consequently I didn't find the defect until then. I'm extremely upset. I now have a bunch of defective cartridges and/or printer, no way to print the work I need to get out, and the best I can hope for is to get a REFURBISHED printer to replace the BRAND NEW printer I paid for. Do yourself a favor, look at the Canon and HP equivalent printers. If you search for issues on Epson cartridges, you'll find TONS. Not necessarily with the R1900, but with almost all Epson printers. This is the first, and LAST Epson I will buy.

Love this doubleweight-matte paper by Epson. I use it with my Epson 9900 and have never had a problem with it. The color quality is great, both for delicate lines and full-bleed matte photos. Ink dries instantly on this media and never smudges. The Epson paper stays flatter post-print then other generic papers I've used of the same paper-weight. 44" is a size specific to Epson, so if you are looking for 44" heavy stock, this is the paper to choose.
