Using a Mac (OS 10.7.5), it won't print a pdf from Adobe Acrobat or Pro and instead automatically cancels the job. It will however print the same pdf using Mac Peview. It also won't print from Mac iPhoto, and sends a paper jam error message, although there is no paper jam. Yes, you can immediately print using other files and programs without attempting to clear the phantom paper jam. I've discussed this with Adobe and Apple and both claim ignorance. Moral of the story, don't buy this printer if you're a Mac user!

This printer replaced a 6 year old HP printer/scanner/copier. I am extremely impressed, very happy with it!Lightning fast!! This printer prints out everything I've done so incredibly fast, that at first I thought it must be messing up! A document I had printed previously on my old HP that took about 30 seconds was coming out of this Epson within about 5 seconds, literally!Photos also shot out of this printer with excellent quality and speed. I can't tell the difference between the photos I printed (on photo paper) with the Epson and the ones I've picked up at the store photo lab. Graphics printed on standard copy paper also look very good.Copies are also very fast, and you can choose between Black & White or Color, if you want to save color ink.The ink for the old HP actually cost more than the refills for this Epson. While it's not the greatest to have to replace all the Epson cartridges in order for it to run, overall I'm pleased that the costs to do so are lower than what I had been using.I print a lot of shipping labels, which are half the size of a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper. The labels are loaded upside-down in the tray to print on the correct side. It was imperative that this printer would not get messed up by printing the off-sized sheet, and that it would not have trouble loading the label sheets so it could print properly. I didn't need to be concerned - this machine handled it all like the pro that it is!My bank allows me to deposit checks from home by scanning them. The quality of the scan was very good, and it is so quiet when it scans that I had to check a few times to reassure myself that it was running! However, it was somewhat slow when scanning, taking about 1/3 more time than my HP - I'll let this go due to the quality, though.This printer came with very well-written, step by step directions for set-up, the whole process was a breeze. I was so happy to be able to set it up somewhere besides my small computer desk, where space is scarce, thanks to the wireless capability. It also has the ability to wirelessly connect directly to other devices, like iPhones and iPads, to print from them as well.I can't wait to try more with this machine, it has made my printing jobs so much more pleasant overall.

I am a writer, and I print a lot of drafts, for which I need a printer that makes double-sided copies. Although this printer says it is capable of double-sided copies, it does not work right. A 20-page document (10 pages, front and back) will come up with either a paper jam or a cryptic message that tells me I have the wrong paper size at least three times. If I'm printing in color (or God forbid, printing pictures double-sided), the ratio of bad pages to good is even higher. When the jam is cleared, the printer does not go back and print the jammed page. I have to go back and send that page again.The paper tray itself has a very low capacity. I don't know offhand what the specs say, but I cannot put more than 20 or 25 sheets into it without getting a paper jam, even when I'm not printing double-sided. Good quality photo paper jams about a third of the time as well.Finally, the tray that catches outgoing sheets is flimsy and not long enough. Most of the time, at least half my pages end up on the floor.

This copier-scanner-FAX machine performs all functions well and has come WAY down in price, making it a solid purchase for one needing all three functions. For those not needing a scanner, I recommend the Canon PIXMA MG6120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer (4503B002) which also has a much lower price than a year or so ago. Like the Canon, this is a six-color printer, only here it's regular cyan and light cyan, regular magenta and light magenta, yellow, and black mix. Copy reproduction is excellent, and even photos excel relative to the price. (You might want to look at pricier, photo-specialized copiers for optimal quality).Like the aforementioned Canon, the Epson has two paper trays (a slide-out, and a convenient top-loader. You can scan to your own computer in JPG or PDF format, and send scans, but ONLY if the receiving computer that has Espn drivers. Wired and wireless modes work well, and set-up was relatively easy (it always takes me longer than I think it will). My biggest complaint (and again, this applies to my comparison model, the Canon PIXMA MG6120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer--without scanner--that I owned before this) is that you can't print once one of the ink colors has run out. So, if you're out of magenta, and you just want to print in black and white--you're out of luck! I can't think of any reason why printers are designed this way other than to force you to buy all the colors in a timely (to the company) fashion.Lastly, this is a rather big and heavy machine. The weight isn't as much a problem (you're only going to lift it once, probably) as the dimensions: Make sure it will fit on whatever surface you plan to place it. AN excellent multifunction printer!

Field test of this Epson Artisan 837 shows the claimed scanner resolution of 4800 dpi is far in excess of actual results. Only 300 lines per inch scanner resolution can be achieved. (Caveat: this result is so bad that I can only imagine that I scanned the test pattern in `Standard' rather than `Best' quality, despite my selection of `Best').Dealbreaker note: when scanning to USB media, this unit overwrote three prior Epson test results with files of the same name. That is, it did not check for and correct for file name collision. I just received my artisan printer a week or so ago and I've been playing with it for a few days.I purchased a 'like new' one from a seller here at Amazon.It took me only 20 minutes or so to set it up, set up the wi-fi and make a practice BW standard print via wi-fi. Very easy and no problems. A few days later, I bought some Epson photo paper and tried it out. I have printed a 4x6 glossy print and it is beautiful. I am a pro photographer, and I work on calibrated monitors. The print totally matched my monitor. (iMac) I'm very pleased.I bought the printer mainly so I could print my own custom photo dvd's for my clients. I printed a Taiyo Yuden DVD printable disc and it printed very well. The first disc I printed was very easy to design using the Epson CD print software. I will make my own designs in photoshop and import those into the Epson print cd software with no problems. The dvd did print a little drab, though, and on the Epson print CD software, there are some sliders to make color and brightness adjustments, so I will fiddle with those to get the results I want.I don't plan to do much photo printing on this machine due to the fact that ink is so darn expensive, but I really do like the quality that you get with the prints. I am a scrapbooker, so I will occasionally print my own personal photos at home. You just can't beat the convenience. I also love wi-fi for printing from my iPad.I'll be curious to see how long the inks last. I plan to purchase the high-capacity inks next. Be aware that the cost of printing at home does get pricey. I spent $189 on a 'like new' printer, plus I'll be buying papers and inks regularly. I'm giving it four stars because of the price of ink. It's not cheap, but if you want convenience and good color prints, you'll like this printer.

This printer creates photo's just like the pro's, so no more taking my photo's to a kiosk and hoping they come out. With the bulk ink I can afford to print whatever I want in spectacular color. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants unsurpassed printing quality at a reasonable price. But you've got to get the Fantasy Buy Bulk Continuous Ink System. There's a little issue with getting the air bubbles out of the cartridges but once you've got it... Wow!

My former All-in-One Printer was the Epson Artisan 700, however it was getting old from heavy usage after a few years, and I replaced it with this Epson Artisan 837. It was purchased locally and not from Amazon.Loved the Artisan 700 (see my review of it) and love this new Artisan 837 for the same reasons. Photos done by the Artisan 837 are flawless, and I actually prefer it's ICM color settings (In Advanced settings on your settings page.) to the settings in Adobe Photoshop for color rendition in Printed pictures. Made two copies of a complex color print, and compared them side by side for that test. Standard printing is also flawless.The WiFi is built into this printer, so you do not have to buy any additional parts for WiFi connection to your network; and it connected correctly the first time to my home network. You do have the option to set it up to operate over your network, or by USB cable; however you have to choose on setup. If you decide to change, it is simple to reload the software and set it up again for either USB or WiFi by network.This is my first All-in one printer with built in Fax, and when I needed it the Fax function worked perfectly.There is a learning curve to using this printer, but the printer will walk you through the steps to do each thing in "Setup". There is also an actual instruction manual included with the printer to help; which is much better than having to go to the web for your instructions, or trying to find items in an onscreen display from an "Included PDF file" while making changes to the printer at the same time.I have always loved Epson printers for their print quality, and this one did not disappoint me.Additional Bonus: 1 January 2012. My new Smart Phone allows me to send photos taken with the phone, directly from the phone to the Epson 837, through it's WiFi.Not having to go through the computer, or otherwise "Wire-up", to handle Cell Phone Photos is a nice bonus to using the WiFi in this printer.

So far so good. I had no trouble setting it up out of the box. This printer will replace my HP 6500A Plus. (which I was very happy with till it stopped printing) It died after a year and a half. The black print head failed. The unit can still fax scan but it can't print in black. It was a nice surprise to find out that I could print on a cd. I use this printer for light office work. The ink is a bit more expensive than my HP which I only bought HP XL cartridges. Its been two days hope it lasts longer than a year and a half.

I'm pretty impressed with this printer--with one big exception. I'll get to that in a minute.Printing on CDs and DVDs: Great. Gorgeous. And I enjoy making custom labels that look like old records. Using something like Verbatim Aqua Ace DVDs, they are dry coming out of the printer and look just about completely professional.Printing photos: Great. Gorgeous. I can't stress enough how great the photos look when printed on photo paper. I've been making plenty, even using them as postcards.Printing on plain paper: Pretty bad, actually. Colors look faded and text looks blurry. I get far, far better results on plain paper with a 25-dollar HP printer. And that is comparing the exact same file printed on the exact same paper on both printers, and even using Epson's own brand of inkjet paper.Installation was easy, including connecting to my secured wireless router. No problems with feeding paper, photos, or discs. One minor complaint: the Print CD program looks like it hasn't been updated since 1997, and it doesn't know that 40 is not less than 40 (setting the inner diameter of a disc to 40 mm [standard type disc] brings up a warning that the inner diameter is less than 40 mm. One click and it goes away, it's just a minor irritation).One other (minor) complaint: If you have the front door closed when you start to print, the door opens oh-so-elegantly, but the door is not the paper tray, so your pages get dumped on the floor unless you're there to pull out the tray. Not terrible, but this is a wireless printer so it could be anywhere in relation to the computer.All in all, I'd say take the "artisan" name seriously. This is a printer for doing fancy stuff like photos and discs. A bottom-of-the-line HP or Canon does better with any print job -- text or pictures -- on plain paper, so consider how you plan to use it. It can produce some gorgeous fancy projects.

I'm in love with this printer. I author DVD's and Blu-Rays for clients, but not enough to get a DVD disc printer. This printer prints directly on DVD's and Blu-rays beautifully. The printer comes with CD printing software, which I took the template I designed in Photoshop and placed it on the CD template to print. There is a way to print on a CD directly from the printer by scanning a photo into the printer and using the functions to get to image on the CD. I do not recommend this method. It's hard to get the image to line up properly and get it the right size. Do it from the computer.It works great with my Apple computers, iPad and iPhone. I printed from my iPad and did not need to get up to turn the printer on. The printer turned itself on. Really convenient. It also does great double sided prints with ease.The setup for wireless was a little difficult the first go round, but I got it to work the second time. Typing in a password was annoying. Setting it up on my computer also look a little bit of time because the printer does not show up on the computers settings when I hit the add button. Just the Epson Fax function showed up. I had to go through the install again and do some extra steps to get it to finally show up, but once it did it was good. There is no set involved to be able to print wirelessly from a tablet or phone.There is an SD and CF card reader to print photos and it also does a great job with that.The only drawback is the size and the amount of ink you have to buy. It's a very large and bulky printer. It is a work horse and it's shaped like one to. There seems to be a cartridge for every color there is, which means the ink will be pricy. It's about $65 for the color inks and $16 for the black on Amazon. If you don't need a lot of the functions on this printer there are cheaper ones where the ink is not at that price range. I have an all-in-one HP printer and the ink is about $30.I don't use the fax machine so I cannot comment on that.Update: One thing I have found is that the paper gets jammed a lot and sometimes will print out multiple sheets per page. I've adjusted the tray many times and it has not helped the problem.

Really shocked at all the glowing reviews here. My experience has been incredibly different with this printer.I will grant all these things: Beautiful design, somewhat (although not as easy as some say) setup for my Mac.I bought this printer to replace my four-year-old HP L7680 AIO, which had a broken ADF and very complex software that was becoming unreliable. I had been looking and looking for printers for my light home office use and finally bit the bullet when I read glowing reviews all over the place for the Epson Artisan.The paper tray is a Rube Goldberg mess. You have to drag this thing out, open up the tray and move little flimsy plastic guards. Want to change to an envelope? Plan for five minutes of wrangling around, moving top trays aside. Remarkably, the trays for DVD's and 4x6 photo paper TAKE HIGHER PRIORITY with this printer--you can access those easily without much work. But if you--gasp--want to change out letter size paper or refill it? Add and envelope? Nope, you have to pull out the WHOLE TRAY and then flip UP the top try for the photo paper and dvd's (because, I guess, this is a printer designed for scrapbookers and dvd-makers?) to get to it.But what is so BAD with this printer is printing. HORRIBLE blacks--in fact they're not crisp at all. Dull, soaking colors. I'm using standard inkjet-compatible paper, which I'd used with my HP with no issues. This one? One small color block at the top of the page, soaked the paper and it looks water-damaged!I'm debating what to do here, but I would warn ANYONE who is reading these reviews to be suspect that Epson may just have a nice little army of positive reviewers or a cadre of scrapbookers who love printing photos are out there making really nice comments for an all-in-one that really SHOULD do more than print photos.For anyone trying this out: Make sure you have a solid return policy, and then make sure you are ready for some work. If you're a photo printer, or love making mix cd's for your ma, then get this printer. My daughter is a professional photographer, so I thought who better to review this new Artisan 837:-I really enjoy the sleek design of this Printer; I have been using Epson Printers for sometime and upgraded from the Epson Photo Stylus R260, to this new model.It's an Elegant Printer, Fast, Stylish, and the Touch-pad is very neat, here's what else I'd have to say about it.It comes with a test Photo Paper sheet of a 4x6 so you can get an idea of just how fantastic the printing ability is you can test it out. -tested it, mind-blowing good, I'm a Photographer and the Print quality and color are phenomenal. But being used to Epson's old system on my previous printer this is set-up quite different. You have to face all paper downwards for printing, (gloss side down) maybe I'm just not looking but I couldn't see it stated anywhere. This in turn has caused me to damage a page of Printing. I use Epson Premium Photo Paper it's older paper not the brand new high gloss paper that you can currently purchase. Well the test sample they give you looks amazing but the paper I own even though it is still Epson it does not look as clear or bright I don't feel as though I should have to spend $35 on Paper extra when I just got it and want to use what's left of my own supply.Now the color preferences are something I'm still not sure about. Letting Photoshop or the Printer decide on color set-up I'd normally opt for the Printer. This Printer has more options however and I feel somewhat lost as to getting the correct result. The ink as anyone knows-crazy expensive by the time you've bought yourself three sets of ink you've paid for the Printer itself. The Cartridges that accompanied the box were halffull-I think that's a little cheap on Epson's part considering they cost around $75 to replace.It is a great Printer don't get me wrong, it was very easy to install and it look very glamorous compared to what I'm used to, it prints great when using the new Epson Paper and its fast with several options for print sizing within the Paper Tray. Biggest thing is EPSON need to lower the price of their refill packs and the Color Preferences need to work for more than just newer high quality paper.4 STARS

This printer/scanner/fax/copier performs as advertised. The Windows XP and Windows 7 installs are quick and easy. One note of caution: the printer takes up a lot space back to front because of the duplex part on the back that sticks out. It's not a problem, but it took up a bit more space than I initially expected.

My friend had an older version of this and it worked good. This does not. Roll lines on prints and slow and not compatible with Photoshop. Even when I set the printer to 4x6 prints Photoshop still reads the 8x11 tray. The scanner is not wireless only the printing and scanning a printed word document (not a photo) takes forever and I can't stand it. You have to scan by USB and I constantly get warnings saying there is no USB connection before it finally reads the computer. I threw my old printer out because I couldn't stand it only to get stuck with this. I don't like it and I don't recommend it.

Do not buy this printer. It simply does not work as a scanner and the print quality is sub-par. I cannot stress how important it is that you under no circumstances buy this printer, it was a $160 waste of money, but worse than that it has been an incredible waste of my time as I have tried to get it to work. Look elsewhere for all-in-one printing needs. 100% garbage.

I have never had an Epson before, and I will never try them again. I'm still trying to figure out which is worse - their product or their customer service...I bought an Epson Artisan 837 - supposedly their top unit. It printed slower than my 11 yr old HP and had very faded color. So I called Epson and spent 45 minutes on hold only to spend another 5 1/2 hours on a crackly line with a guy with a heavy accent who spoke really fast and kept telling me it is printing correctly even though he couldn't see anything it printed. I took what it printed into the Apple store and showed them. They said "definitely return it". So I tried, but even though I had the unit less than two weeks, the next guy with a heavy accent who spoke even faster (half the time was spent asking him to please repeat what he said more slowly) on another crackly line told me (after I waited half an hour on hold) that they wouldn't let me return it. They sent another unit that arrived two days later all scratched up. I called, and they said they sent a refurbished unit. I said that I didn't pay for refurbished, and I wouldn't accept refurbished. After another half hour, I spoke to a manager and still could not get my money back and just return the unit, even though it hasn't even been three weeks yet. It's 6 days later, I just got off the phone with the manager again - they STILL will not let me return it - is that even legal?! I have my receipts, and I WILL get my money back if it's the last thing I do! My next call will be to VISA.My last printer was HP - 11 yrs old and prints great, just slow and not wireless or e. I'm still going to get a new printer, but it will not be Epson...not now, not ever. That is no way to treat people or do business.

Every time I purchase a new computer, I take the time to carefully research the purchase of a new printer for my home office. I really wanted to believe the better reviews and was willing to pay a few dollars more for quality. I wish I had paid more attention to the poor reviews. Right out of the box I loved the quick set up, the superb internet connectivity, nice touch-screen display and the fax, photocopy function. Three weeks of putting it through it's paces, I can tell you the joy is over. Other reviewers are right, the paper tray is flimsy and only holds 30 sheets. I am constantly reloading. Add to that a poorly designed paper feeder. It has a tough time pulling just one sheet, so you often get 1-4 pieces of blank paper with every printed page. Remarkably, there is no paper bypass. Want to print a check, envelope or photo? Stop everything! You have to pull all the paper out of the tray, load, print, repeat. A work flow killer. The printing quality of color and black and white text documents is good. However, don't count on this printer for photographs. I still have been unable to print a single quality photo. Large images have color bands running through the print even after calibration and multiple head cleanings. The colors also do not match. Need precision? Don't look here. The inks are typically expensive (over $100 for a complete set). It's then frustrating when the machine does not recognize when a new cartridge has been loaded. For the record, I like and purchase Epson products. If the 5-star reviews are to be believed, then maybe I got a lemon. But I suspect it has more to do with the same exuberance I shared when first breaking this out of the box. The honeymoon is over and I am looking for a better machine.

I purchased this printer primarily to print photographs. After reading the reviews, I decided to give the Epson Artisan 837 a try.Setup took some time, but if you follow the directions on the included "Start Here" sheet and have a little patience, it goes smoothly. After completing the setup, I was impressed at the many ways the printer offers to print documents (including via smartphone or as an email with attachment).The reason it didn't get 5 stars from me was photo print quality out-of-the-box. After reading the stellar reviews I expected to be blown away by the quality of my first printed photo. Instead, it left me terribly disappointed. I couldn't believe how grainy and cartoonish the picture looked. I knew something had to be wrong and started investigating.For some reason, the default settings for the Windows printer driver include automatically sharpening the image, fixing colors, and high speed printing (even when you select best quality). After I turned off all of these automatic enhancements, my photos did look great. I then learned how to save these settings to make printing good photos easier.Perhaps the fact that my digital camera already applies some image enhancements contributed to the issue. If you sharpen a sharpened image, it will look awful. The same goes for fixing colors. I recommend that, if your picture looks good to you on screen, don't let the printer change a thing.

I bought this last November and still love it. I purchased to replace a high end HP, which cratered in less than a year. I use with my Mac with no problem. Use to scan, print and copy. The control panel is easy to use. Scanning works well. I scan to a flash drive, which is no problem as some other reviews mentioned. I have to put the document on the printer anyway. I was concerned about the price of ink as there are several cartridges, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found them on Amazon and they were a lot less than through Epson. I have only replaced them once. Granted I don't print every day, but in the same time period that I had an HP I had gone through 3 sets of cartridges. Setting up wirelessly was no problem whatsoever. I have my Mac and an old laptop with Windows XP. Works on both. Photos are gorgeous. Color vibrant and true. I plan to buy only Epson from now on. One last thought I'm going to upgrade to Mountain Lion on my Mac and this printer is compatible.

This is an excellent photo printer that doubles as an all-in-one. It gives you superb photos at home (sharp images and good color, with smudge-free ink) at reasonable prices per page. The quality is built in to the hardware, and the savings is largely because the colors are in separate tanks, so you don't have to replace your single color tank because you are running low on blue (for example). And there are even high capacity tanks available, potentially saving you even more.And in the bargain with this great photo printer, you get a reliable, quality text and graphics printer, a good scanner and copier, and (whether you need it or not) a FAX--all accessible on computers, tablets, and phones, wired or wirelessly. At retail price, this printer is a bit too dear for most, but bargains can be had, and you might snag one for about half price these days. But even at retail, I would give this printer a look. And at a third or more off, I would absolutely snag this one, as I did.

We, my wife and I , read many reviews of this printer and after much deliberation we went ahead and purchased it. My wife and two daughters each have IPADs and wanted to AirPrint-so despite some of the negative reviews of Airprinting we forged ahead. After some fine tuning of our network, etc. we are good to go with AirPrinting and it goes without saying regular printing. Great little all in one printer-would recommend it to others.

This printer prints nicely, however the engineer that designed it has no idea how we use printers on this planet.Every time you change paper . . . you have to slide the flimsy little paper catcher in, slide the paper tray out, load the paper . . . slide the flimsy little paper tray back in and reposition the flimsy little paper catcher. The sliders don't slide smoothly . . . they slide like a little plastic toy I used to play with from the dime store. I've only had the printer for 2 weeks, so I don't know if it will hold up better than the Epson Photo Stylist R340, but the design of the Epson Artisan 837 is pathetic.

This all-in-one does the job and very well. The inks result in sharp text and good quality pictures in a compact footprint. Some of the parts feel flimsey, but handled with care, it all works. The ability to print on CD/DVDs is excellent and the software provided with the unit makes the job fairly easy. Double sided paper handling works very will though you will read that some have had problems. Good quality paper may be the key to good paper handling.

Boy, there are so many good printers on the market today that the consumer must pick one and hope for the best. That's what I did with the Epson 837. The printer arrived in good shape and was easy to set up. The only slow down was entering the network pass-code using the display keypad because I didn't have a USB cable. The trick is to stay on the letter or number and keep hitting the same key until the upper or lower case letter or number is indicated then move on to the next entry. I bought the printer for the pictures and was I surprised! This printer is so much better than I could imagine. Even my wife is pleased which is saying something. I have my other computers all networked on this printer and can print from anywhere in the house which is nice. I would suggest using care in opening covers and extending paper guides because the plastic looks a little on the fragile side compared to other printers I have used in the past. I paid $196 plus shipping and it came in five days via Fedex ground. I give this five stars because everything works as advertised and I am more than pleased with the pictures it produces. I recommend this printer.

Love this printer. Easy installation(wireless), prints fast, duplexing saves paper, great scanner and copier, easily print labels on printable CDs/DVDs. And it's a great picture printer. Only negative is the price of ink cartridges but then that's pretty much true with all printers. Highly recommend this printer.

The title of this review says it all!! I love the sleek design! this printer is not too big, nor too small. It's just right! I love it! Touch panel is astonishing and it tilts!! no more wal-mart neck :) I love that its wireless. Now i can print from off my ipad and my laptop from any room in the house. This product is great, and i would recommend this to everyone!

These printers are great and the ink cartridges I use in them are great at literally a fraction of the cost. I bought my Epsom printers because of the cheap price of ink. You must check the ink in the cartridges to make sure they aren't running out.

I got the Epson to replace a Stylus printer that had stopped working that I had used to print CD's for my business. I had 2 printers (the stylus, and an HP all in one) so I thought this would save some space on my desk. It's a nice looking printer, but there were a few things about it I really missed:1) Instructions on how to send a fax from your printer- they tout this feature, and then don't tell you how to do it. Customer support wasn't good at explaining it either. I had to search their support page to find out how to do it, and it wasn't overly complicated. Seriously though, why isn't this in the guidebook?2) How to set up the WiFi- Again, why doesn't the guidebook include this? The box touts it as a great feature. I just didn't even bother, even though I really thought it was a cool feature. The printer's LCD menu gives you 3 different ways to set it up, but nothing explains which is best, or why choose one over another. The book says NOTHING about setting up wifi either.3) You can't turn the ringer off on the fax- If you have a business, you know all about spam faxes (insurance plans, roof repair, vacations, etc). If you have a home office you know that these faxes come at all hours, even in the middle of the night. Selling this product as a good solution for home office, and then giving you no option to turn off the ringer just means it's going to wake you up at 4am when the spam fax comes through. My old HP printer had the option of turning the ringer to silent, why not the Epson?4) A time display on the fax- This is small, but I kind of miss being able to look at the fax for the time. It was the only clock in the room. No biggie, but just surprised it doesn't have a clock, as it seems that every appliance in the world does any more.

I love Epson printers, for the past 10years I have owned nothing but Epson printers and recommend them to friends and family when they finally give up on their problematic HP or Canon printers and decide to get a new one. Yes their ink can cost more than some of the others but their hardware is the top quality and their drivers are far superior to any other printer makers out there (take note HP - Epson drivers actually work for XP and vista - not just windows 7!). Epson printers just work - no problems with network connectivity, no problems with ink cartridges, and no problems with paper jams, no problems with the software, no problems with anything, ever. Wi-Fi setup was simple and painless and I have never lost connection. Improved in this generation is a bigger touchscreen up front. Print quality is excellent, as is printing photos and now with the addition of the Epson Iprint app or even the paid 3rd party app Printershare you can print pictures and documents from your phone or tablet - too cool! Scanning via the ADF is excellent, I only wish they had included the ability that the workforce 840 has of being able to scan double sided, since this printer also has the duplexer. If you're really concerned about ink usage and price and don't need the cd printer and dedicated photo paper tray then you should get one of the Workforce line of printers which does virtually everything that the Artisan's do (except cd's and dedicated photo paper tray) but their ink costs a little less - I had one before this printer and I loved it just as much as this one. Overall, I feel the quality and durability of the Epson printers, as well as the more stable drivers packages and ease of driver install, and the ability to print from smartphones and tablets makes Epson the clear choice for home printers. If you're wavering about what brand printer to get, then I urge you to go with Epson - they are less problematic than any other brand printer out there.

I actually cancelled this and bought the earlier model. Same except no fax and a little cheaper. I didn't need the fax. The cd/DVD printing is simple and easy with the software. My mackbook recognized right away. Excellent quality print and economical to use. See my review of the 730 model.

It is very good for what I need it. Fast, colors are right, size is adequate. What I do not like is the receiving tray.I would recommend this product attached to a personal computer or small business office.

I just received this printer the other day. It was ordered through Amazon and sold by Pigfly Tech.It arrived in the display box! Not a shipping box! It was in the box that you normally see on store shelves. It's only protection was the styrofoam end pieces. But I got lucky. Nothing had been stacked on the middle of the box where there wasn't any protection except air, space and thin cardboard.I unboxed it and hooked it up via the USB cord. I haven't tried the WiFi connection.It works great. I've only printed the a few prints, but the 4x6s were done in just seconds. And they looked great. The printer came with 2 sheets of Epson glossy 4x6 paper. I had some Kodak 8-1/2x11 glossy paper. In comparing them, the Epson paper did a much better job.Regular printing seems fine. I haven't noticed the big drain on the ink yet that I've seen other people talk about here. My brother has used Epson printers for many years, and he claims that the ink lasts a lot longer if you make sure the printer is turned off when not in use.If it wasn't for the packaging for shipping issue, I would give this 5 stars.This review may change as I use the printer, but right now I like it....

This is a wonderful all in one inkjet. It always wakes from sleeping, and prints high quality and fast. Easy to set up. It is a bit large, compared with the Artisan 730, but it does a great job.

Epson Artisan printer is NOT for you if you want to use a variety of paper products. Once again buy the printer, buy their paper. Sounds like corporate greed again just like the ink. If you print 137 page document as I just did expect to collate it all because this printer mixes the paper as it delivers it out of the printer. Also plan to stop printing frequently to reload paper, fix miss feeds, sort out blank pages because of multi pages not printing and then being feed through into the finish stack.In all if you only print one or two copies at a time its good printer if you print more and don't want to spend a ton of manual time nursing the paper feeding system STAY AWAY!

The printer set up fine and prints on paper great. HOWEVER. One of the reasons I chose this printer was to print on DVDs. My IMac (OS X 10.6.8) Doesn't allow me to do so. When I try to print, the print window (under Media Type) does not give me the option.

I am on my third Artisan 837 in the last 11 months. It's cheaply made and doesn't hold up. The one I've had for less than a week now has a dangling part inside that causes the printer to jam. (Epson customer service is good - they just keep sending me new printers.) I will say that when the printer is working, the photo quality is excellent for the price. However, this printer does not like to print on cardstock, regular paper, labels, ect. Basically anything other than photo paper. So I think the "All in One" is misleading.

This is my review, and an honest one from someone who has had inkjet printers for many years.All of the inkjet printers I have purchased, were HPs and Photosmarts when they started that line. Over the years and especially after they merged with Compaq, the quality of the printers became horrible, and they were lacking features. Paper jams were becoming more common,I wanted a printer that had the following features and the Epson Artisan 835 had it. I bought that printer initially, and later bought the 837 because of the Airprint features which I wanted.These are the features I wanted in a printer:- Airprint- GREAT pictures- BUILT IN Duplexer- Document Feeder (NONE of the Photosmarts except a very old model had them until recently. HP finally added a new model with a doc feeder)- Ability to print on discs (No Photosmart does this... HP really needs to put lightscribe to bed)- TOuch screen with easy to use controls- Photo Paper Tray- Useful and not bloated software (HP has the worst bloated software for it's printers)- NetworkableThe Artisan 837 has all this. The pictures are wonderful and it is fast. It has a built in fax machine like the old days for when that is needed.It NEVER jams up..... It is a sold and good priner.CONS - the only thing that comes close to it is that the paper tray and allignment is not as easy as the HP... However this is NOT a deal breaker at ALL.. its not even something you'd notice.Highly recommend this printer. Last year I traded in a b&w Brother printer for an Epson 800 and was not all that happy with the exchange; though the new printer was smaller and printed color, it had a tiny paper tray, went through ink fast and was more temperamental. This new printer though, the Epson Artisan 837, is terrific.Setup was easy but not flawless -- there were a few confusing steps, but within 20-30 minutes I was not only printing from my computer but from my iPad as well. The printer is fast and runs quietly. More importantly it prints two-sided copies, which is really nice. The color printing is excellent; I printed out a copy and then had trouble deciding which was the original! Photos come out beautifully and there is a small amount of photo paper included so you can try it out. In addition to wireless or hardwired printing, the machine also photocopies, scans and sends faxes. I've tried each of these functions and it performed very well with no problems.I'd say this printer is much better than my Artisan 800, and it uses the same ink cartridges. I've been using it for over a week and have absolutely no complaints. It's accurate, fast and reliable, and set up easily. (If I have any problems in the future I'll update this review. The older Epson printer I had just ate up ink cartridges, but I haven't had this one long enough to know whether it's any better.)Another improvement is printing from the sleep state. With the older printer I had to wait to print when I started it up from resting -- maybe just 3-5 seconds, but it seemed longer; this printer, when you open up the cover, is ready to go immediately. A great improvement!Terrific printer.Update: I've had this printer for four months now and have had no problems. It starts up immediately from a sleep state, which is great, and it hasn't gone through ink cartridges nearly as fast as my old Epson printer. It faxes, copies and scans with ease and consistent quality, and prints photographs very well. I'm very satisfied with this printer.

We replaced our old Lexmark 3-in-1 with this one. My sister has had an Epson for years. I did a lot of research to find a printer that did small office tasks as well as photo/graphics. This is it. My husband and I very pleased.

Stars were deleted for 1) an initial defective unit and 2) Failure to have a good workable android wireless app.First to all reading this: Read the installation instructions and follow them STEP-BY-STEP. The setup is not intuitive as one would think. I noted several reviews where the issue was failure to follow the instructions and not the fault of the instructions.Now to my review. The first 837 I bought stopped working during its initial set-up stage. The power button appears to have failed. I returned it and received a second unit.For the second unit the setup procedure (for wireless) went perfectly. Before I needed to use the installation CD (while following the written instructions), the unit's screen instructions quickly lead me through step-by-step to a perfect wireless setup. There was no need to use the CD and no need for a temporary USB cable (by the way, if you plan to connect via USB, the USB cable is not the standard USB to USB...it needs a specific connector to the 837)I am using it on a wireless network and wanted my Toshiba Thrive android tablet to access it. I found out too late that the Epson iprint app for android units does not let you send documents at this time....while the same program for Macs does...go figure.I tried Google Cloud Print which does work but took a while to research.The Thrive comes with its own wireless print app that only partially works but that's another review.Another complaint is that the unit defaults to cd/dvd mode and I have emailed Epson as to why and can that be corrected. If anyone has a solution, contact me.Yet another complaint/observation is that the ink supplied is Epson's standard cartridge (99) rather then their high capacity cartridge (98). So when you buy replacements buy the large capacity units.Finally the size of the cartridges is small. I have two other Epsons with cartridges that are twice the size (volume?).

First the bad.The wireless setup was a disaster to setup and get working.It would occasionally find the router (3 feet away).But not consistently.I finally opted to buy a 12 ft ethernet cable and hooked that up.It seems to be working now.At least the computers see it.Now the good. It looks great and is not at all noisy.Print quality is excellent.

I have a Mac using Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8. I have been using an Epson WorkForce 840 Color Ink Jet Wireless All-in-One with Fax (C11CA97201) for several months now and I really like it. The ink lasts a long time (and is relatively cheap compared to some other brands) and it's dependable and all functions work great.I thought I'd give this Epson Artisan printer a try, and I am very impressed. Like the other Epson models I have tried, it is easy to set up for my Mac. Please note that if you have a OS system 10.5 or earlier you may have to go to the Epson site to get a software update, if you have 10.6 and above your computer should update for you.This all-in-one printer is sleek and fits easily on my desktop. The photos are just stunning and super easy to make. There are different and fun settings and options, although for me I just use the 4x6 prints. Like most of the newer Epson printers, the display window is large and easy to use. You can use the document feeder to make copies/scan/fax or lift the cover and set them on the flat-bed. The drawers for the paper may feel a little flimsy, but they aren't and I haven't had any problem with them so far.Although I do love this Epson Artisan printer, and it is smaller and sleeker than my Epson 840, for my personal needs I will continue to use the Epson 840 because of the ink - you go through ink a lot quicker in the Artisan printer (which makes sense because of the photos.) The black ink container is smaller and seems to run out faster.So you decide. If you want a very nice, small but very pretty all-in-one printer that makes lab quality photos quickly, this is your dream printer. But if you rarely make your own photos, and instead are concerned about keeping the cost of ink refills low, then you may want to go with another Epson.Highly recommended. Epson really makes a fine printer.Note - I've been using this printer for about a week. If I have any problems I will come back and edit and report them.
