PRior to it reaching it's limit (more later)it will print only if ALL color cartrages are in place!EVEN IF B$W....It will reach it's # of prints that EPson sets, and forces you to have it brought intoa Otherized repare center.... They want it to only work for 2years tops...and then you have a very exspensive PAPER WEIGHT...SCAM...

I called Epson and asked exactly which printer would best fit my needs. The Artisan 837 was their suggestion. When it came, the box had been heavily damaged, with big open holes punched in two sides. I told the Fed Ex driver that I didn't want to accept it, but he came in with me and together we unpacked it. Honestly, it looked fine. He left, and the next day I installed it. I had a nasty time getting it to feed paper properly, but finally it seemed to accept regular paper stock (but never multiple photo paper pages). A week later, I tried scanning for the first time and the scanner is tilted about 5 degrees -likely from whatever punched holes in the packing case. I wish I could get a repleacement, but I'd thrown the original packing away.We print checks that come three on a page. If you buy this printer, you can forget that. To do that is an absolute pain in the rear.I wrote a review for Epson, and they rejected it. Nothing about this has been what one would expect to have happen.Dr. Michael Wagner

The setup CD didn't work with my Mac and thus the initial setup was a painful experience, but once configured, the printer works well and the color quality of photos is quite good. I've set a number of faxes, made scans, and done a fair amount of printing. So far so good, I've only owned it for two months.

I'm getting rid of my Artisan 800. Going back to HP. The Atisan runs out of ink constantly,even with the premium size ink cartridges, and refuses to print if one color runs out. Won't print in black only. It's a home printer so we don't use it nearly as much as an office would. It also wants to clean the print heads every time you print when a cartridge gets low. Constantly props me to buy new ink online from them. It also doesn't hold much paper. Seems like every time I use it I have to do something for it. Now it stopped printing because it needs new printing "pads", whatever that is. Never had to do that before.It has to go in for service. It's going in the trash instead.My last HP was maintenance free for years.

I have owned so many printers over the years. Also every brand you can think you.My last two printers were expensive Canon printers, that only let me down. I have nowhad the Epson Artisan 837 for three months. I am so happy I replaced the Canon with this one.Prints are faster, photos are 10x BETTER!!! Photocopy worked great, Faxing was super EASY!!.The touch screen on the front is also very easy to use. The only thing I haven't tested yet is the direct CD printing. If you do not have this printer, the CD try is hidden when not in use, but you just hit the CD Tray on the screen and it will pop out. When I print from my PC, the printer starts FAST. ALL of my previous Canon printers would not even start printing for 30 - 60+ seconds, I so hate Canons for this.The ONLY complaint I can think of is that there is no back loading tray. When I print out Stamps labels for packages (2 on 1 labels), you have to keep opening the front tray and put the label back to print the next label. Also just note that it prints to the SIDE DOWN on letter paper and 4x6 photo paper.Love this printer!!

I like the printer.The print color is great. My complaint is that I have no" users manual" for it. I tried to download one online but my computer (Mac) wouldn't do it. So here I am with a great printer and am unable to use its many functions...

I have the Artisan 835 and now the 837. I am using each of them (home office and outside office) with a Mac computer and wireless network. I am a techie geek and have used many, many inkjet printers over the years and I am a picky reviewer when it comes to inkjet.I will not go over all the features, you can read the advertisement. What I will say is that this printer does in fact REALLY DO ALL THE THINGS IT SAYS IT DOES!The prints are as good or better than the prints I get from Sam's Club or Fuji. Of course, if you are printing large quantities of photos, you would not waste the ink and paper at home, just transmit the photos to your processor and pick up.The best feature of this printer, like the 835, is the individual inks and the ability to turn OFF the automatic head cleaner system. I have been using my 835 for two years with this feature turned off and have NEVER had the heads clog. The savings on ink is off the charts with this feature turned off.Wireless printing direct from my iPhone, faxing is so simple, printing wirelessly is super fast and painless.I am using the CD printer feature, and it is so easy to use. The software that comes with it for printing on CD's is wonderful.I scan directly to pdf to my computer. I can use OCR to convert the text. This thing does it all.I have not yet used the duplex feature. I can tell you that paper feed is flawless. Hundreds and hundreds of pages and no jam ups!I finally like inkjet printers.......

Easy to set-up, needs some updated drivers but prints easily from both of my Apple computers and iPhone's. Compact and easy to use. Love it.

This is another in a long line of Epson inkjet printers that I have used. I like the multifunction capability of this printer. As with all Epson printers, the setup is very easy and quick to accomplish. I would recommend this printer to all.

I have owned 2 Artisan printers in the last 3 years. Unless Epson improves upon their Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) I will not own another one. My first one had the ADF gears crack which caused it to jam every time I tried to use it. The replacement they sent me did the exact same thing just after 1 year and of course they don't care at that point. I found some help online with instructions on how to glue the cracked gear to make it work, but that only lasted a couple of months. For the price I paid for mine I expected better quality.Buyer Beware. Do your research first and see if the ADF assembly is the same as the Artisan 800. If it is, shop around some more.

This is my second Artisan 800 series printer. My wife has my old one now, and she loves it! Crystal clear printing to photos , disks, and documents.

Very nice having wifi printing with AirPrint capability. Only thing I would have liked to of seen is a photo print software package bundled into the mix. Had to keep program from last printer...

The first Printer sent to me lasted 1 week. The second printer lasted a few months. It has now gone into hardware failure. I will say that Epson is willing to replace these hunks of junk. They will replace them only after you give them a credit card and basically purchase a new one until you send them the old one. I decided that it really is not worth my time anymore to bother with them. It is the last Epson I buy. After I asked to speak to a supervisor the rep I spoke with tried to disguise his voice as a female and claim to be a supervisor. As pathetic as it was, I can not thank him enough for the belly laugh I got from that.

OK I have been in IT for 20+ years === Epson was the god of dot matrix printers. I bought the Artisan 837 based on specs. First one I got odd the cartidges are installed despite instructions to the factory that I install them?? Wierd.Power up "printer has an error" ok something is not right take it back to staples only to discover someone 'repackaged' the printer and it went on the shelf as new. Not good at all. To his credit manager say 'thats very bad sorry get a new one' Spend several hours setting everything up. 14 hours later after printing 2 pages. Printer says '"printer has an error"Same damn error no idea how to fix it. Epson has lost my confidence. Its cheap plastic and poorly engineereed. Very sad. :(

I got this to replace my scanner - figuring that the all-in-one would be good and wireless is a plus. Well, the printer is OK, although we did have one problem that wasn't fixable, so had to have the unit replaced (while still warranty). The "help" part of the online manual is a joke, but once I contacted the company they did replace the machine promptly.The scanner is problematic. It works sometimes, but doesn't sometimes. Sometimes when it works it works VERY slowly (like 30 minutes to scan something to my computer) or looks like it's going to work, but after an extended amount of time gives an error message. Again, the "help" manual isn't helpful. Sent an e-mail two days ago and am still waiting for a reply.

It's a good printer, and it does everything, but it's a bit confusing and it has at least 2 major problems. The main one is paper jams- it constantly takes in multiple pieces of paper at once, rather than one piece at a time. This is especially the case when you have multiple types of paper in the tray. We often have to leave just one piece of paper in tray, cause otherwise it will take in multiple ones. Another very frustrating issue is that once the ink level gets low, eventually it refuses to print anything else until you replace the low cartridge, even when the others are full. In other words, it makes you change the cartridge even though there's probably a little ink left. When a printer recognizes that the ink levels are low and recommends changing them, that's good, but making you change them is extremely annoying and unnecessary. It's set up like a safety precaution, but it's really just their way of making more money.

let me just say, that in the past I've used HP printers. they just didn't live up to my standards. i LOVE gadgets and want the best. at work i use only EPSON products for scanning. they are BEAUTIFUL scanners that produce the best quality artwork scanned i have ever experienced in my life. this is a HUGE reason why i bought this printer over the HP or the lexmark. thank god i did...this printer is absolutely gorgeous. i literally lost a heartbeat when i took it out of its package and placed it on the table. its sleek, and black and is extremely quick to set up. AND once set up, i tested to print a page..be it over my iPad, iPhone, computer..what have you...FAST. it duplexes without hesitation...it prints over WIFI without hesitation, it scans over WIFI without hesitation and its FAST, FAST FAST.the bad: they ship it with the 99 cartridges which are NOT high yield capacity .. so the ink seems to be running out quickly..and i mean quickly. I've already bought high yield capacity cartridges for future use, so lets see how long those will last. otherwise, this thing has it all. if you're an artist, definitely, get one of these machines, esp for the scanning.. its one of the best out there as far as all-in-one printers go (yet no 48-bit, just up to 24-bit..its still beautiful!).also i wish the photo tray would double as an optional envelope tray. apparently, you have to manually remove the paper from the cassette tray below and readjust to fit the envelope in to print. no good... no good. fix!

I have owned both the 800 and 810 Artisan. This is definitely an improvement over the other two models.I really like the new look of the front of the printer. It looks sleeker and the controls are easier to use.This printer is what I use for my day to day printer. It does a great job of general printing, scanning, coping and receiving faxes.With the 800 and 810 I was not happy with the quality of photos. The 837 has a much improved photo quality. I was also impressed with the speed with which it printed 5x7. Unlike other printers the dedicated photo paper tray holds both 4x6 and 5x7 paper.The foot print is larger than the 800 due to the duplex (prints both sides).Network set up was easy. I have Windows 7 on both my laptop and desktop and had no problems with installation.Overall this is an excellent multifunction printer. It has a great bonus that it also prints directly to DVD/CD which makes it easy to produce professional looking disks.I debated strongly between a 4 and a 5 star rating. I decided on a 5 for the following reasons:This printer is a solid all around performer.Photo quality is better than most all-in-one printerscapacity to print to DVDs/CDs is an added bonus not found on most printersit can print on both sides of paperprint speed is excellentscanning is simple and a good quality scan is producednice clean look
