The R3000 is a superb instrument on all counts. The quality of its output, both color and B&W, is unmatched. It offers considerable flexibility for specialized printing, as well as the ability to create eye-popping border less prints. And its virtually clogless nozzles means that I can be away for several weeks, yet when I fire up the R3000 it is ready to go without so much as a single nozzle cleaning. I loved my R2400, but the R3000 is truly amazing.

I love this printer. Couldn't afford the really big one for large size canvas prints, but this is fabulous for my matted prints. Once I figured out how to set up my colors on Photoshop, it reproduces exactly what I aim for. Even though the ink and paper are more expensive, I waste way less of both because I only print once. So glad I invested in this printer - just wish I was it was wider so that I could do mid-size canvas reproductions.

Having photography as a hobby for many years with my wife now participating, we both needed a photoprinter. After extensive study of the various photo printers available it became evident that the Epson 3880 had the features that we wanted. Having a 17 inch wide carriage was a prime consideration. Additionally, the output from the printer is nothing less than spectacular. The clarity and the sharpness of the images as well as color penetration are absolutely remarkable and stunning. Unfortunately, this printer does not accept roll sheets of paper. This has not proved to be a problem since there are numerous separate paper cutters available. The separate cutter keeps the cost of the printer down since we do not have to spend an additional amount of money for that feature on the printer. The three paper paths through the printer make the usage of various grades and widths of papers easy and very straightforward. Additionally, the price that this printer was offered for through Amazon was truly a fantastic price not to mention the additional $250 rebate from Epson through September 31st 2012.

The prints from the R3000 are good, but the ink is superexpensive. Epson has designed its ink jet heads to use enormous quantities of ink to clean the heads, making per picture ink costs insanely high. Based on the ink costs, I would recommend that people consider a non-Epson printing solution, until Epson brings down the price of ink (generics price it much much lower) or design a better print head.

The R3000 is sometimes a great printer. But when I turn it on to print a photo, I am stressed. I don't know if it will really work properly this time. The black ink changing is confusing. Sometimes, prints will come out with random spots, while a day or two later the same item will be printed beautifully. I use this printer much less than I would otherwise because of the uncertainties.

I have been using the Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer for many months and I have been extremely pleased. It offers great fidelity for both color and B&W prints. I have calibrated it with my monitor and the prints I get precisely match what I see on my screen. And the price is right. The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 series printer may be a bit better, but the R3000 offers better value.

I personally don't have one of these printers, but I am a photography student and use on all the time at my school. These are good printers if one wants good control over your print. However, for someone who just is doing photography as a hobby and just wants a decent print, I beleive this printer is a bit over kill for them. It is a good professional printer that for people who need the control over their prints, but for people just doing it as a hobby, like I said, I think it's a bit too technical and advanced.All the prints I have printed from this printer have turned out beautifully and I have never had a single problem with the printer or the quality of prints it produces.

This item's rating may improve; it's in Epson Support's hands now and their responsiveness and ability to solve my problem will be the key to an improved rating.I received the printer in good shape 5 days ago. No hassles with unpacking and setup, software installation or connecting to my PC.I made a few prints over the past couple of days. While I haven't had a chance to really test the thing out, so far I like the prints I have produced.Trouble started this morning with an error message when I turned the printer on. Error is "Service call error 150C. Please contact to the repair center." Searches on Google lead to posts indicating this is a problem with the "platen gap." I'm hesitant to start tweaking until I hear from Epson.I'll update this review, either way it goes, but obviously this is disappointing.UPDATE 1/3/2012Called Epson Support and they are shipping me a new printer via FedEx overnight. The rep on the phone said the "Service call error 150C. Please contact to the repair center" means I'm essentially dead in the water. To send me the replacement, I had to give a credit card which they'll hold until I return the original. The rep said the new printer will include instructions for return.So, I await the new one and we'll see if it holds up longer than half a dozen prints and 4 days before I need another replacement.UPDATE 1/5/2012The replacement printer did not arrive. I called Epson and the rep said it was on back order and that the rep I spoke with earlier should have known that and not promised me a new one in 24 hours. Now I am told I might have it in another week or so.UPDATE 1/10/2012The replacement printer arrived yesterday. I have the new one set up and so far it is working. I have the old one boxed up and ready for return. Epson supplied detailed instructions and pre-paid shipping labels for the return of the unit.If there are any more problems, I will update this post.

Overall very good quality photos. No Cf slots on this model(drawback). Choice of paper size is off. get 3sides equal however 4 side of print is off by several mm.Means You cannot use whole sheet in a matt. Set up for scanning is poor. This is the 4 Epson photo printer and these problems were not present in the older models. In utilities will not let you print head status.

I started digital printing years ago with an Epson printer. My next photo printer was a Canon followed by the HP 9180B.The Epson R3000 is by far the finest printer I have ever owned. It is literally trouble free. No clogging or paper jams, just cranks out amazing prints. Anyone planning on printing up to 13 x 19 should definitely put the R3000 at the top of their list.

To be brief, accurate, and to the point...This Epson 3000 matches my calibrated monitor in perfect color accuracy and luminance. I cannot ask for more from any printer. I also have the Epson 4000 (which makes 17" x 22" prints). The newer technology of the 3000 really makes a difference in the quality of color and accuracy.

A workhorse machine with a need for lots of counterspace. Not for the average Joe, but impressive. Flimsy plastic body construction especially on the front door panels which don't fit well nor close or open smoothly. For such a price and caliber machine would expect flawless solid construction and instead the plastic finish feels flimsy and cheap. Easy operation, works well though. Sad about the lack of roll paper capability. For the price it should cover all the bases. One thing to be aware of is size ratios of paper. 17X22 gives a much more boxy look and wastes a lot of space on the borders for more rectangular images compared to B3 13X19. I do fashion photography and prefer the elongated ratio of B3 more than 17X22. For wall prints of most all other shots the 17X22 ratio works well though.

The quality difference in this printer and consumer level printers is remarkable. I am sure the R3000 is good but I wanted to be able to print big and also balance the long term operational costs of ink. Of course a 49xx series would have been better for ink but it could not do anything smaller than 8x10. Overall a great printer providing prints without gradations and excellent black and white. I never thought you could ever get this from an inkjet but Espon has solved that problem. My only issue that lowered this to 4 stars was the flimsy front tray door and ink door alignment. If it is not closed properly the ink door will pop up. The Ink door seems extremely sensitive as well as I have had it actually pop open during a print. I closed it and the print continued without issue but this a a bit annoying and hopefully not a regular issue. Now lots of paper to try out including some canvas from breathing color.

The purchase of the R3000 was based upon how well it makes a black and white photograph. I have been extremely pleased with the output of color photographs but mainly the black and white photographs. I am using Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster as my paper of choice and I've not been disappointed.

I purchased this printer to be used exclusively for the printing of my illustrations and personalized artwork for children for my home-based business, [...]It is perfect. The prints printed on fine art paper look like an original watercolor. I am very pleased with the results.

I like the prints very much. Quality of the prints are wonderful. I would award 5 stars just for that. However, handling of paper could be much better, especially thicker fine art paper in sheets. I thought I would see better paper handling when I upgraded from my R1800.

It worked fine for a year, under very light use. I probably used it for 15 large prints. Then one day after finishing a nice print, the next print looked totally weird, and my assessment was that the black ink wasn't printing. After 1 1/2 hours on line with Epson I was referred to the local repair shop, and they concluded both of the black ink heads were toast. The cost to fix the problem would have been $400 and of course all this happened a week after the warranty ran out, so rather than put $400 into a printer with a dubious track record, I junked it. So I lost $600 which was my original cost (net of an Epson rebate at the time), plus over $100 in extra ink supplies that I will never use but hope to sell. Interestingly, the factory authorized repair shop said that Epson printers make great prints but are very touchy and neurotic.

I purchased this printer to replace an R1800 which I had owned for about five years. It is superior to it in every way. It is easy to get true colors. Skin tones a good. The printer is fast and produces crisp and rich prints. I am very happy with it.

The Epson R3000 is BIG, expensive, and somewhat slow when you ask it to print QUALITY pictures.But - When paired with the Nikon D800 it produces spectacular color and detail.It's able to make an amateur pretend that he has become a professional photographer.

This was a replacement for my 2200 and I am very pleased. The print quality is excellent. I have read reviews stating that printing wireless was extremely slow so I have not tried that feature and don't see that as a negative for my situation.

I have owned Epson photo printers for years and years and they have included the 1280, 1800, 2400 and now the 3000. I have nothing but raves for this model. print quality is simply superb, paper handling is flawless.I highly recommend it.dale

At first I loved this printer. Great print quality, easy setup and flawless top paper loading. I use the printer for making 17" X 22" posters that then get laminated. Very happy with the print quality. But a few months after purchasing the printer, Epson discontinued the paper I was using. Had to go with a thicker paper and had problems. The thicker paper never lined up properly and the printed borders did not square with the paper edge. Tried adjusting the printer settings, nothing hepled. Epson support was of no help. Had to re-design many of my posters without borders.Now the printer head is dragging across the paper creating ink lines. Many calls later and back from the repair shop, without getting any repairs. Told I need to use the rear manual feed to prevent the print head from hitting the paper. This has reduced the number of prints with ink marks, only tossing out 20% of prints compared to all. The rear manual feed is a nightmare! On average it takes 5 attempts for the printer to accept the paper. It has taken me up to 10 minutes to get the paper lined up properly, not a joke. Such a watse of time for a small business owner. For the few art prints I do, this was acceptable, but not for all my printing. They cannot replace the printer head. Any problems with the printer head, you need to buy a new printer!Communication with Epson is poor. With many calls to them, I can say there was only one person with good knowledge of the printer. No authorized epson repair in the Philadelphia area. So if I want Epson to look at my printer I would have to ship it to New York.At the start of 2011 Epson stopped using bubble wrap when shipping my paper supplies. Now they just use a small amount of poly bags inside the shipping box. The Espon paper inside the shipping box gets slammed back and forth and the corners are bent in most shipments. Contacted Epson and begged for bubble wrap saying I would pay extra if needed. They refused. What a shame.So after 18 months of daily printing and adjusting to printer flaws and lack of customer service, I will be looking at other companies as I want to expand to a 24 inch wide printer. Part of my checklist will be asking about local repair, shipping of supplies and support. Because that is where Epson failed me.

As advertised, Very impressed with the personal service I received. The printer was packaged very well and is in very good shape. I would recommend this vendor and would do bussiness with him again. Very pleased with my purchase.
