I admit that I didn't know what a router was at first, I had to look up definitions on various sites. What I didn't realize is that I had been needing a router for a long time. The directions were very easy for me, a non-techie. I have cable TV in my home and for my internet, but if I wanted to use my laptop in another room for internet I just couldn't. Now I can not only use my computer anywhere but I can also connect my Wii to the internet so that I can access Netflix! This is true for routers in general I suppose, but so far I have had no problems with this router and the instructions were very easy to follow.

**UPDATE** See discussion below for more info on Mac and this product. Problems below may apply only to older operating systems. (Previous rating of 2 stars, now 3)It would have been useful to know that this router was not compatible with Mac. Yes, under system requirements, it includes OSX v10.4 or higher, but that's not entirely accurate. It is meant for Windows 7, preferably PC, and does not do Safari. Mac users: there are some work-arounds if you insist on using D-Link, but why go to the trouble for something that will ultimately not work optimally? I bet this is a great product if you have a PC, but as a Mac-user, I can't give more than two stars.

This router was very easy to install and setup, but the problems began fast by dropping my connection every 5 minutes or so. After 3 calls to d-link and trying numerous settings it still didn't work so ended up having to return it.I'd stay away from this router until they have another firmware upgrade or something.

Thank you D-Link for coming out with this! It has saved my home network. I had a Linksys Router with 8-port Switch and I was getting constant internet disconnections and slooooow speeds (for over a year.) I was on the phone constantly with TW RoadRunner. They tried to help and eventually blamed my router. I then bought a another Linksys Router with a 4 port switch (as the 8 ports are hard to find!) I was still getting disconnected.Finally I did a search for other options and found the DIR-632. It was easy to setup, security and all. Now I have Ethernet in all my rooms and a pretty strong 802.11N signal coming from the basement so I can roam around with my iPad and smaller laptop.So far an awesome product.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL ROUTERS IN MY LIFE ESPECIALLY LINKSYS. NOW I DECIDED TO TRY THIS D-LINK DIR-825, I'VE NEVER SEEN A ROUTER SO COMPLICATED TO SET UP LIKE THIS ONE. ON THER ROUTERS A COULD TAKE MINUTES TO SET UP A NETWORK OF 5 COMPUTERS, ON THIS ONE TRIED FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS FIGHTING WITH IT, GAVE UP !!!!. I GAVE IT BACK TO THE STORE AND HAD ANOTHER BRAND, LINKSYS ARE MUCH EASIER TO SET UP.

I purchased this router 35 days ago. Installation was easy, and it worked.Today, on the 35th day, it died, with no connection to Internet. I called D-Link Support, and stayed on hold on the phone listening to D-Link music for two and one half hours! Never did get an answer. Called back, wasted another 45 minutes with no support. Their support department is not only pitiful, it is non existent.

I have to reset this router everyday, it is good only when it is working8 ports is nice but not worth the troubleSeem like it has to go back

Wow this was easy i unplugged my old router and connected this one and in seconds i was up and running on the internet, the reception is very good i get internet even by my pool out sidethe fact that i could connect all my devices into one device make all the cabling nice and neatron, CA

Horrible horrible router! After using it for only 5 weeks the router needs to be reset almost every day...Huge waste of money. Its a great idea though having 8-ports and wireless but unfortunately it doesn't work.

i bought this because ive had a dlink since 2005 and its still going strong. i needed another one (not because my old faithful broke). so i went with dlink. so far so good. it just says that it will reach really far, 10k sq ft i think. and for whatever reason it doenst. it may because i have it on one end of the house and there are so many walls in between the router and the other end of the house. but whatever, i still like it. glad i bought it.

8 ports plus wireless?Sounds nice, REAL nice.I needed more ports to CAT5 my Blueray and Directv, and this seemed like the ticket.The wired worked wonderfully, but the wireless kicked us off willy nilley.I thought it was when another computer signed on, but I was all by my lonesome one eveningand off I went.I then decided I would put my Linksys back and no more problems.I now have learned how to set up a switch with a router.PP4x4

I bought this for a customers store, he has 2 network printers 3 computers, and a remote camera system. Running on static IP and coming out of a AT&T Netopia Router/modem I had to change a few settings with the Modem but Not a problem. Have no use for the wireless as of yet. Everything is up and running, using Dynamic DNS and routes properly. 12volt 2amp power supply which is decent over some that come with 5 volt 4A that tend to burn up easily.

I got this unit to use the share-port feature of the unit. Setup was very easy; I was able to set up my printer in less than five minutes. Problems occurred when I tried to use the feature. The printer would print half a page and then restart. This would happen on all three computers that I was wanted to use this feature. I have since deactivated the share-port feature. The router it self works great no complaints. I would recommend the unit to friends, would also mention that that share-port feature may not work. (I might have a defective unit).

I'll make this brief, and based only on my immediate observations.I tried this product in place of an existing Apple Airport Extreme set to 2.4 Ghz, N-Only WiFi (additional range was my hope), and found that from the other side of my house (where I work) with the same (or any other) settings it was useless. I couldn't hold a connection, and when I did the speed was horrible. From the same location using my Airport Extreme, I have never lost a connection, and although my speed is essentially cut in half (from being in the same room as the AE), the Airport Extreme just works.This product definitely has a lot of features that the AE doesn't, but not so good at carrying a signal through walls. If I was in a smaller space, this product would probably be fine, and I could certainly use the additional options/features... but the AE beats it hands-down for range.

I had two Netgear draft-N routers before this. The first stopped working at 2 years old; the second stopped seeing network items 1 year, 7 months old.I decided I needed a new manufacturer's router, and bought this this one. Setup is easy, it all works as advertised. What elese can I say - it's been great, and only should last longer than the now Netgear junk I had before this one.

The wireless function on this router is very unstable. Sometimes I have to reboot it once a week, sometimes, 2 or 3 times a day. There doesn't seem to be a rhythm or reason. It just stops working, and then I have to run up and down stairs. Before a power surge killed my DIR 655, I was very happy with it. None of these problems. I'd stick with that one. This one's going in the garbage.

I really wanted to get this router to work right because I need the 8 ports. It does function for the most part, but every day the connection drops at some random time, and the router must be unplugged and reset. Tech support was unable to resolve the problem, so I exchanged the router for another, and it has exactly the same problem. If you don't mind outages on a daily basis, this router would be fine.

Very easy to setup and appears to work well at first. However, when downloading large files we keep getting the "connection reset" error and see the router has reset itself. On small transfers it's not that noticeable but on large files (e.g movies) it fails every time. I switched to a network with a Linksys router and the files downloaded without a hitch.I contacted DLink tech support but they were unable to correct the problem so I returned it and replaced it with a LinkSys 8 port router which worked fine.

Using the supplied disc, set this up in a matter of minutes, hooked up 4 wired computers and 2 wireless XBOX's. All works great, no problems. Would purchase one of these again.

I have been unable to get this D-Link DIR 825 to work with my HP wireless printer. Does not seem to be compatible because of security problems. I'm using a USB A/B cable because I can't resolve this problem.

I have not had any of the issues other customers have had with this router. It is powerful, fast, and simply gets the job done in my household. My Xbox Live connection is still strong even when I download torrents at high speeds.If I had to buy this router again, I would (unless I decide to upgrade to the new Linksys routers)

Works great....WHEN IT WORKS! On third D link DIR-655 within a month. Hopefully the current one actually lives longer. Love the settings, cost, and overall package, but no of that counts if it keeps breaking and is unreliable!I DO NOT RECOMMEND, I like D-Link but **HATE** this model. Go with another.Mike

Although it is a refurbished, it is still good. Easy to set up. Very friendly customer service. It is up and running well for me.
