Very pleased with the easy setup (10 minutes) and the great range and quality of this wireless router. Highly recommend this product.NOTE: After downloading the Network Magic software from the supplied CD, I would recommend checking for updates from the Network Magic website.

Note for operating this device under Windows XP Service Pack 2:Out-of-the-box, this USB device does not play well with other USB devices. Attempting to do an automatic installation of the drivers (having Windows find the drivers on the CD) consistently yields a Windows STOP error, AKA the Blue Screen of Death. So, I was forced to install the companion software from CD. During the installation, the software told me to update to Windows XP Service Pack 1 with a hotfix I already had installed, to correct known USB conflicts. The device would thereafter only connect to a wireless network if it was plugged in at boot-time, and once disconnected, would not reconnect without a reboot. I still had to get updated drivers for the DWL-G132 from Windows Update and install them; now the conflicts seem but a distant memory.With the correct drivers, this card has actually started working well in a USB 2.0 port. It is notable to mention that when connected to a USB 1.1 port, the device's performance suffers significantly. Otherwise, it connects reliably to wireless networks anywhere I go and rarely drops signals. It is also very easy to disconnect, reconnect, and swap between laptops and desktop computers. My first reaction when opening the box was that it was too big and would physically take up too much space when plugged in near other USB ports, but it comes with a VERY convenient extended USB cradle. The cradle, of course, allows you to connect the DWL-G132 on the desk, but works with other USB devices just as well, such as memory readers readers, flash memory drives, and even my webcam. That itself is probably the most convenient little gadget I've gotten in a while. If you know the process and can get this card installed properly, it will do very well for you. I'm sure that new revisions will be released containing working drivers in the box, and Windows driver packs will probably include them eventually at install time, but without knowing ahead of time the process was painful.Also, keep in mind: this is a USB card, it is for portable use. If you try to consistently maximize the throughput, depending on the conditions, it may overheat. If you need to statically connect it to a single machine, get the PCI equivalent.

I purchased this router to go with my cable box that provides phone, internet and cable to my house. The cable box is in the basement so I purchased this router so the signal would carry to the 2nd floor office. Other comments and reviews said this router could carry a signal further, but I found NO DIFFERENCE from other routers that I have purchased. It is a comparable to other routers, but doesn't carry further or offer anything 'above and beyond' as I had expected.

I am using it for the last 3 months. And have no problem with it. I didnot connect the USB directly to the computer. I used the cradle and have no problems with it so far. Worth the money spent.

Worked fine for 86 days. Then it died. While I don't expect these devices to last forever, 86 days seems a little bit too short. While the price is good, it probably is not really worth it.

its an okay router from what it seems so far. signal great, clean no drops as of yet but as soon as you get it you have to update the firmware to use it..i tried and it wasnt possible to do without it... mine came with no instructions however, so to tap into your routers GUI to configure it enter 192.168.0.1 in the adress bar in Internet explorer... then configure there.. you can throw away the install cd that came with it or maybe try to bargin with Satan to take it back to hell where it came from because it is completely usless! other than that everything is good :)

Yes the DLink service is a big part of things. I am not real techie so I have had to call them. On three different occassions, they have HUNG UP on me. Apparently they only allow so much time and if not resolved they hang up on you.

I had been using an old I-Mac software base station as my wireless network router, but the coverage and speed were not great. So I bought this because the product box said it's Mac compatible. There is no software to install. Just hook your internet cable/modem to the product, then hook it to your computer, open your browser and type in an address and you are connected to the router. You can then run a "wizard" which worked ok on Firefox, but crashed on Safari. I made a couple of setting changes and disconnected my laptop and I was up and running very quickly. It also has 4 ports to connect directly to computers. Coverage and speed are much better now, so it was a good buy. I took 1 star off because the documentation (two pdf documents either on disc or you can download) are full of geek speak and not very informative for a lay person like me.

I first isntalled this to WinXP 2nd ED and all of a sudden I am getting blue screens and the system keeps rebooting over and over. I uninstall and the problem goes away. Coincidence? I will let you decide. I reinstalled the adaptor and it gets very very hot.. reminds me of my notebook that overheats and shuts down. I cant get a connection to my router. I have my notebook im typing on now connected right next to the adaptor desktop and get a signal just fine with my notebook. I will be sending this back.

I have been using it on a desktop (XP Media center 2005) fir a year now.The adapter's driver is problematic. Whenever I resume from hibernate or standby, the driver crashed my computer. Talked to tech support and they could not help me at all. (I had followed all the directions specified in the manual for its installation).So I currently don't hibernate my PC :(Works well on a freshly restarted machine though...Unless they have an updated driver, I would not recommend buying this. (I am using the driver it shiped with and have not seen any updates to it on dlink's web site)

Easy to setupNever drop signal via (DSL FIOS - download) - Cable modem drops signal whenever you performing excess download.DI 624 drops signal twice a week via (DSL FIOS)Cable modem drops signal every dayCons - reboot router pick 2 minutes - too long, DI 624 take 30 second to reboot the router.Using WPA-EAP setting and a 2.4 G wireless phone next to DI-634M router cause static signal on the 2.4 G wireless phone. Change to 5.0 G wireless phone to eliminate the static problem

Have this USB card for some time now. This has crashed 3 of my machines and took me a few weeks to determine it was this card causing the issue. It does not play well with XP Service Pack 2. I don't have time to mess with uninstalling Service Pack 2 and Windows update.I works for a few weeks and 'POW', your staring at a Blue Screen of Death!Trashing it and buying something else.Beware! If you are not a Systems Admin or a computer guru, don't bother.

I owned a DI-624 for a long time. I would have gone completely bald except for the fact that I now own this DI-634m.....with the 624 rebooting every five minutes and me hitting it over and over with a hammer out of frustration, I needed a new router...so I took my chances and bought this one. Ever since the purchase I have NEVER looked back. Not only does it not reboot, but the speed this device gives even with WPA with AES is INCREDIBLE. Below I have included a speed test with the advertised 6m/384k from Comcast using this router(DI-634m)...I would HIGHLY recommend this router to ANYONE....ESPECIALLY those who now own a troubled DI-624:::.. I live in an apartment with a whole bunch of other wireless networks around me (and unfortunately they're all protected, so I can't leech!). I tried routers from Netgear and Linksys, but I could not get the WiFi to stay connected with either of them- the signal/noise ratio was just too small. I had heard some bad things about D-Link in the past, but after seeing how positively this unit was reviewed here, I decided to go ahead and try it. Problem SOLVED! Not only is the wireless signal strong and fast, even the wired connection is noticably faster than the other routers. I would not have guessed that a dedicated router could be such a bottleneck on speed, but apparently it was. It's like a whole new internet! Definitely a great product.

Very easy to setup. The software that comes with the Router is not great and not very useful. Once I ignored the instructions included it was easy to get the router to work properly.

Quick setup and works well for its use. I have a feeling its a little "weaker" signal pick-up than say a regular PCI add-in card but its mobile, easy to install and easy to use.

We bought a Dlink DI-634M recently from CompUSA -- it was on sale for $[...] with a $[...] mail in rebate. Brought it home and everything went smoothly with the initial installation. We have 3 computers, 1 Xbox, a laptop, and a PalmPilot accessing it. All worked well until we noticed some sites would not load. Then we found some email would not load. Spent hours playing with settings and things would get a little better and then worse again. Finally we tried installing the updated firmware and so far the problems are gone and the router is operating very fast and smooth. Appears to be a great value for the money.

I have been a D-Link user for several years. My children have used the Dl-614+ at college and configuration was never problematic. My home is a large ranch style house with limestone walls, and wireless router placement was difficult. I had to have an additional wired access point at the other end of the house for complete coverage.After 5 years the access point died. Tech support suggested the new Dl-634M, and stated that the coverage was much better. I just installed it, configured it easily with my Mac laptop and in fact coverage was much better, but not perfect.I called D-Link tech support to see if I could use my old D-614+ as an access point. In five minutes we had it converted and running. The whole house is 5x5 now. Tech support is 24/7 and always helpful.In sum, the Dl-634M is very fast, easy to configure, and tech support is excellent.

My Di-624 router died after 2.5 years so went out and got the DI-634M. First one kept rebooting its self, 2 hours later setup the 2nd one from BB and its been magic for 1 month now. Great range and configuation ability for a sub $200 router.

We have had horrible luck with the drivers for this device. We have the A/G d-link access point which seems to run great and we have strong signals all of the time, but the PC all locked up when we first installed and got the blue screens of death. We have to remove the device from the USB ports when we reboot or in many cases it won't boot. We downloaded what appeared to be new drivers from Microsoft's update point and it looked like it helped a little with the reboots, but we will loose our connection (a few feet away) and the d-link utility will show a 88% signal on the "a" channel and 90% on the "g" channel but we can't connect to either, it will just do nothing. One of our users dropped a 50ft cable to the switch and stopped using it, and the others would if they were closer. D-Link's website is useless always bringing you to a useless screen when asking for technical support or downloads. I give it a 1 because when it works it works great, but it is so unreliable I'm looking for a way to replace it without breaking the bank.

So far its working great on My Apple Extreme Network, I have my other XP machine which works great with DLINK. Dlink accorindg to many blogs online show the best results to work with Apple Airport Extreme. Good BuyP.S Folks i just wanted to clarify that i did not use this product on a Mac Book or an older G3 or G4. I was able to connect all my PC's to an AppleAirport netwrok.

I bought this to connect my notebook to my DI-624 at 108Mbps.It worked well enough and I didn't have any of the driver installation issues other reviewers have mentioned.However the D-Link drivers interfere with the Intel wireless drivers on Centrino notebooks - my internal wireless card stopped working and after I got D-Link customer support to acknowledge there was a problem, the only solution they could offer was to re-install Windows. Thanks guys.Also, I've recently upgraded to a DI-634 router and I can no longer connect at 108Mbps if I have any kind of encryption turned on. This is probably a propblem with the router, but its worth knowing.

when usb card or device uses more electricity ten the usbport can offer (usually 500ma) it goes to blue screenespecially on laptops...and on small pc s.the reason i think is with in the 108 acceleraton argorythmthat could suck up more than usb port can give , hence error occurs.so if you dont want your pc/laptop to go blue ,dont use the super-G mode.i think 5ghz router users must have a backup adapter like thisat hand.

I first bought a Linksys Wireless Router, signal not strong enough. Then I bought a bosster from Linksys- signal still not strong enough.I returned it all and bought the above D-link wireless router.Worked perfectly as advertised. No bosster necessary.Stay away from Linksys. Their phone tech support is terrible and inefficient and their products are clearly inferior to D-Link products.

Haven't had it that long and it simply died one day. It went from running one moment to dead with no external events as possible causes.Personally, wouldn't buy another product from D-Link since I've heard wayyyyyyy to many complaints about their products and drivers.

This router took 5 calls to tech support to get running. It took 4 of those calls to get upgraded to advanced support at which time a simple reconfigure of URL was necessary because I use SBC DSL. Now that it's working I've never had a dropped signal and it's twice as fast as the old one.

Like some others, I've run into strange performance issues with this device, and it's the first DLINK product that I've been less than thrilled with.The largest problem is that the device loses connection when I'm burning CDs. And when the wireless device is offline, nothing short of a full reboot will restore operation. Unfortunately, sometimes it corrupts files on my C: drive, and XP will read the device as being bad hardware, and goes into a death spiral of checking the C: drive, failing, rebooting, trying to check the C: drive. Only thing you can do at that point is unplug the Wireless Adapter and start over. It's frustrating and I've given up on using the device. I'll throw it in a drawer to use when I'm working on someone else's PC at home.

I keep getting error 1628 after trying to install this product from the CD. The driver install software on the CD is v1.2 and so is the one on their website. The install almost completes then I get that stupid error which is some InstallShield error. Then I can't uninstall it!!InstallShield's website says if all else fails then keep uninstalling Windows Updates until the install works. Yeah right. I says screw that. I finally returned this piece of junk.The only reason I gave this two stars is the form factor is very nice. Too bad NetGear doesn't have as nice a looking USB adapter.My system is WinXP SP2 with all the latest security updates. Also has Norton NIS 2005 with all the latest updates. Everything else USB I have plugs in fine. Other new software installs fine. I don't want garbage slowing down my system. Anyone know how to uninstall or what files I need to delete to get rid of D-Link's software/drivers?!

I tried calling customer support, but after spending an hour on the phone with a very nice lady in India, we determined that the device simply wouldn't work with the version of XP running on my machine. I was told that I wasn't the first person who had reported the problem of the driver causing XP driven systems to crash. So, I'm back to my Linksys A/B USB that can't hold a signal for very long. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is that before it crashes, it does always seem to get a nice strong signal. If only D-Link could hire someone to create drivers for them, I wouldn't be looking for a new devicse.

While this router seems to work OK, it cannot be fully administered from a Macintosh using Safari, even though D-Link claims Mac compatibility. For some unknown reason, the lists of machines and MAC addresses do not show up in the several admin screens that utilize them. After many attempts to work through the issue with D-Link tech support, I gave up. They do not appear to be able to understand, let alone test and fix the problem.

It dies if you plug in any external USB disk drive or card reader. D-Link just doesn't know how to write device drivers that work well. I've had problems with every D-Link product I've ever bought.

I'd like to report the same problem as the people above - this adapter works great *when* it works, but it crashes my PC at least once per day. I've spent an hour+ on the phone with technical support, and so far nothing has helped. For the record, I'm running XP Media Center Edition with SP2.

I was looking for a way to connect my old desktop to the internet in my kids room which has no outlets for DSL or Cable, and this is a perfect product. It works great with my wireless router (which is Netgear, not D-Link) that sits one floor down and several rooms away. It was easy and quick to install and no update to firmware was required. Amazon.com has a great price too.

Well I thought this product will be good based on some other reviews elsewhere but I am very disappointed. On two differrent PC's the divers caused a bluescreen (Windows XP SP2). This product is so new that Dlink don't even have the drivers on their website (drivers supplied on CD). As ususal it takes DLINK 5 software versions to get it right!!

I have bveen using DWL-G132 Xtreme for a week now and it seems to be very solid indeed (and this is something I could not say about other D-Link products I used in the past). It works with my DI-624 just fine, the setup was quick and the data transfers are fast. I also haven't noticed any signal drops, even several other access points in the area. DWL-G132 aquires connection instantly after logging in to my Windows and maintains the strong connection throughout the session.I think this is one of the strongest wireless products I worked with so far.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the DWL-G132 works perfectly. No driver or firmware updates are necessary. Just load the software, plug it in, and it provides a high speed connection without any resets, timeouts, or other glitches. This is on machines running Windows XP with SP2 and talking to a D-Link DI-624 access point with firmware version 2.50.
