I bought a wireless router D-Link 825 three months ago. Installation was straight forward and the N-band is quite strong. I can use the router 90 feet away from my computer to display on my TV and I can streamline a whole Netflix movie over a wireless connection without failure even with only a two bar signal. I use Comcast and a one year hold portable Dell or HP with Vista, both are clean of viruses and adwares. The G band is not strong enough to do it but the N band does it. At 90 feet across walls, I sometimes loose the connection with other websites but not Netflix, they have an optimizer that fine tune the connection. Depending of your equipment and setting, this can be quite a good buy.

I purchased this looking for an inexpensive, yet feature complete Wireless-N Router, I couldn't be any happier. This router has so many features I will never utilize them. It has Dual Band wireless (meaning, two separate wireless networks) in addition to the ability to have a Guest network which can be either a 2.4 or 5 network - so really it would be triple band router. The amount of data that I've put through the router simultaneously is amazing - streaming HD video via wireless-n from one computer to another, while being able to browse the internet using the second band without any noticeable speed difference.I did give the product 4 stars because of my experiences with the signals. I'm not sure if it's my building and the way electronic devices and metal appliances are positioned throughout my condo - but wireless-n has noticeably less signal strength than wireless-g. For example, on my computer that has a Wireless-N Adapter, the Wireless-G band appears at full signal strength, whereas the Wireless-N band appears at 80% signal strength. I thought Wireless-N was supposed to have better signal strength than G?Overall, I'm very pleased with the device and even though the Wireless-N signal strength isn't up to par with the Wirelss-G, the throughput of Wireless-N is still as high as expected.

When I first bought the router it seemed to operate OK. However, the latest firmware download has caused a big issue which requires the router to be rebooted almost daily. This is a known problem and D-Link seems to be doing little about it. I would avoid this router if I were you and pay for something that works. I wasted $150 on this router and won't be buying a D-Link product again.

I purchased this router thinking it would speed up my network and it did, kinda. If I am sitting in the same room as the router, about 6 ft away from it, I can transfer at anywhere from 9.8 - 11.9 megabytes per second. Wonderful! Then I walked out of the room. I have an open floor plan so no solid walls were between me and the router and the transfer speed dropped to 4.6-6.2 megabytes per second. I got that with my Belkin that I was replacing. I was afraid to try upstairs. 2.4 Ghz is far speedier than 5 Ghz. It was going to take a full 35 minutes to xfer a gig on the 5 Ghz so forget it.Shareport could not find the router on through any of my computers. Customer service is non existent. It is being returned.

Picked this up after my old Netgear router was making a high-pitched whine and I had had it with my Airport Express' constant dropped signals. I then proceeded to wait to intall it because of all the warnings about the complicated set-up. When I finally did get around to it, it went VERY smoothly. There's a decent "wizard" in the included software that I think got everything working in a matter of minutes. It would be nice if they included printed instructions, but the electronic manual on the CD is pretty good and helped me sort out a little confusion I had (that was of my own making - the wizard had actually set everything up properly). My system: Cable modem, one wired desktop computer, one wi-fi laptop, one Airport Express (for streaming music to my stereo), and a wi-fi iPod touch. The ONLY difficult part of the setup was the Airport, but that was the fault of that device, not the router (I couldn't reprogram it for the new network remotely, so I had to re-set it and reprogram it over ethernet). Now I get ZERO dropout, not even the microwave interferes with the music stream. The router is silent and the lights are a cool and un-annoying blue. I live in a Brooklyn apartment building and it serves up a great signal even out to the elevator. On the flip-side, there's plenty of security options so my neighbors are hopefully not snooping on my network.I have not tried the USB port, but am looking forward to using it for serving up media to my yet-to-be-purchased netbook. I will update this when I do.

I do not know much about routers. I just want to say this router works great with my new HP vista 64 bit home premium computer. Prior I used an AT&T modem and router combo (provided by my AT&T, DSL provider) with my old windows XP computer. I connected my new Vista computer and it constantly threw me off the internet when I went wireless. I would have to reboot my new computer each time this happened. I spent hours on the phone with the AT&T support. I was told over and over that the old router is okay. Finally someone at HP computer support told me it is probably the router inside my modem. I guess the software in vista 64 bit is not compatible with some of the routers software out there. That is why I purchased the d-link, because it is Vista certified. Installation was easy. I did need to call customer support once with a question and got through immediately. I have this router two weeks and have not been thrown off the internet once. I have both my window XP and Vista laptops hooked up to it. I'm happy with this product so far.

Can't complain about the connection itself although the streaming to my DSM-520 started to have problems with this router. Using an airport express and connecting through wireless n solved the problem but it shows speed of g is much worst than my old d-link router.Really bad part is the shareport USB: with a mac don't even bother trying to make it work. After some investigation I could install the shareport utility but it doesn't work at all: it detects my printer but disconnect after a few seconds. No way to keep it connected with firmware 1.11. I just gave up trying.

I had had problems with compatibility between my desktop computer and a previously purchased Linksys router, but I was eager to try a new product from a different manufacturer line.I had no difficulty hooking it up, and I am currently using 3 out of the 4 inputs, for a PC, game box, and laptop. The installation wizard is easy to follow, though ?I don't know what it is like for Mac users. Also supplied is a Dual Band USB Adapter with its own installation CD, to help things along. However, it can only be used by one computer at a time. And only USB interfaces are compatible. It requires antenna placing in order to maximise the best coverage. However, the antennae took very little adjusting. It is helpful if you can write down your network name/SSID, and the security key and passwords that you have chosen, for faster reference/remembering later. The added security features there make it a good choice if you are looking for a router to eliminate outsiders from trying to abuse your system. The speed and interference-free streaming, e.g. of videos from Netflix (and I'm a heavy user!), is really great. There is no interference or hiccups, and you can simultaneously check your emails while enjoying a movie, or gaming. The ability to support HD-quality streaming of movies is a big plus, too.So far, I'm very satisfied.[...]

Let me start off by saying that I replaced my D-Link DIR-655 router with this DIR-825 (firmware 1.01) and combined it with a D-Link DWA-160 USB Adapter (software 2.2). I really wanted to like this router combo, but there are too many issues with the 5GHZ portion to recommend this as of now. The signal strength on the 5GHZ portion is only about 1/2 that of the 2.4. At about 10 feet, I could copy a media file at about 14 Mps on 5GHZ. At about 40 feet with a story in-between, it then drops to about 5Mps. At 80 feet and 2 stories, the 5GHZ signal is no more. You must use the D-Link software to use the 5GHZ channel (which is fine unless you swap to the 2.4GHZ due to range). Then it requires a system re-boot to get back the superfast speed on 5GHZ. Without a reboot, the router performs just like it was at 2.4. Also, I saw no tangible, measurable difference in speed on 2.4GHZ band when using the N DWA-160 than when using the G internal card in my laptop. Wish I had better news to report.I expect that the software and firmware for these two items will improve with time, but at this point I cannot say that it is stable enough to justify the premium price for dual band technology.

First of all, I will admit to being a minor techno geek, but routers have been my downfall. I've used 3 different Linksys routers over the years and have not been happy with their sluggish performance and general crankiness, so I just gave up on the router thing and used an ethernet connection directly into the modem.I had recently begun to reconsider my decision, having been tempted by the speed that a family member reported with his N router, but I didn't want a Linksys. I investigated product reviews and decided to give this D-Link a try.In terms of set-up, it's not for the faint of heart. It offers a lot of options that you may not need, so my recommendation is to just focus of its main purpose for you and then figure out the rest of the stuff later.I just wanted a faster wireless router, and that's what I got.If you keep the installation simple, I'd rate set-up difficulty at about a 7; setup is much more complicated than a Linksys but it appears to have been worth the extra time. This is a fast router. I haven't used it very long, but it seems durable and reliable and I look forward to continued effortless and speedy wireless performance from it.

I have a large house, with a fairly extensive home network (four desktops, a laptop, a Squeezebox digital music player, and a network printer.) Further, as a musician & artist, I send big files around regularly. My old Linksys WRT54G just wasn't cutting it anymore; poor range, many dropouts, continual messing with & reconfiguring of the network to get the printer to operate consistently, etc. I researched a lot of routers, and decided on either this model, or a comparable Netgear. I found the D-Link first, so that's what I got.I already use the Network Magic software that is bundled with this router, and the 4.0 version is very good, although it wasn't perfect with my Linksys. However, I did at least manage to make the printer consistently available. As an aside, I would highly recommend this software to anyone who isn't very well versed in network administration, as it makes many tasks easily accessible within a single program, as well as streamlining Windows' somewhat arcane, confusing, and generally annoying network management features. After I installed the D-link -- which was a fairly simple process -- the network was very good, at first. Improved range and speed and, for a few hours, good reliability. Then, my wife's laptop started getting bumped off regularly. Then my PC, along with the Squeezebox (which gets its music files from my hard drive via the network.) In addition, Network Magic couldn't access the router directly, which limits its ability to manage the network. I attempted several tweaks in the web interface for the router, but to no avail. Indeed, the web interface was extremely flakey, and several parts didn't seem to function properly. Then, I noticed that the firmware was only v2.0. I checked D-Link's site, and there was a 2.01 patch available. I downloaded it to the laptop, hardwired it to the router, and updated the firmware. Since you'll have to have a PC hardwired to the router, anyway, to set it up, I would highly recommend downloading the newer firmware before you even start the set-up, and update it as soon as you complete the initial set-up.Simply put, problem solved.Network Magic could access the router, the network has been stable for the past week, and the router's web interface works properly. Coverage and performance are significantly improved, and I am not using D-link access points (although I may upgrade several anyway, so that I can get the advantage of double the standard speed of 54Mbps for 802.11g.) This last is important because, frequently, product from one vendor will not work and play well with products from other vendors.I still haven't tried any more advanced router tricks (port forwarding, setting up any network security other than turning off SSID broadcast, and so on.) I will append any experience to my review in several months, as network hardware has a bad habit of working well for a while, and then suddenly choosing to stop functioning properly, for no ostensible reason. Assuming the D-Link doesn't do that, I'll be a very satisfied owner, with no great urge to upgrade to the Next Big Thing: 802.11n, whenever it is finally ratified & decent hardware begins to flood the market.

Overall happy with it. Bought initially for draft N and to use the 5ghz band (to avoid interference). Turns out the 5Ghz band had poor signal strength for my laptop (built-in N wifi). So switched to 2.4Ghz (still N) and performance was much better (consistent connections over 100mbs). My G-wifi on my other computer also improved dramatically on signal strenth and speed (consistent 54mbs), so much so that I didn't bother upgrading to an N-adapter for it. Note: I still have the occasional dropped connections, but it's much less now.

The performance beats my old DI-614 router, even when it was set up with an expensive $80 Hawking AC amplified antenna!A friend of mine started having problems with his WRT54GL, and I helped buy this router to replace the dying router. We have 4 laptops at home. Our fun laptops are a Macbook and Macbook Pro. Work laptops are IBM T41 and T43. Running Ubuntu Server on the network as a means of backup. When all we had were XP machines, our old router, a Linksys WRT54G was great. I flashed the ROM with some 3rd party drivers that gave us a ton of options for that router, my favorite of which was improving the signal strength by boosting the power of the antennae. That wireless solution worked great until we did the "Switch" and bought Macs - we were constantly being dropped and the router gave us a lot of problems with IP Conflicts. Now, I'm sure there is another firmware out there with fixed IP configuration but I didn't want to spend the time to look for one and I stumbled upon this DI-634 on Amazon. A further search revealed only 3 search hits for this router on the Apple website. Try searching WRT54g on the Apple website and you'll see almost everyone has problems with that router.Installation of this router was a snap but the included CD wizard was useless. It's pretty small and looks nice. The quality of construction looks good. Enabling the MIMO mode is easy. Click of a button. The control interface to the router is pretty nice. And best of all, it has excellent reception throughout our split-level house whereas before I needed to boost the power on other routers. No longer are the days of needing to be in the same room as the wireless router. We put the router in the garage which is actually underneath us most of the time since there is the main level above the garage and the bedroom level 1.5 stories above. Great reception. In terms of speed improvement, I did not notice any improvement over the Linksys WRT54G.Some things I should add:-When using iChat between our 2 Macbooks the video looks much clearer than before. I think this might be an advantage of the MIMO (I've checked and we're both running in 11g mode 54mbps, all the time!).-I did not have problems with the Linksys when my MB Pro was the only Mac on the network.-I loved my Linksys but after buying the D-link, I'm not looking back at all. There's something nice about a router that works great out of the box without needing to hack it.

If you're here because you're looking to buy a wireless router and you wanted to check reviews on Amazon (and other places) first, you will immediately have noticed one thing: there isn't a single brand/model of router that doesn't have a fair proportion of contradictory reviews. Some people will say "Wow, router X installed in minutes and has worked flawlesslesy since. It's so much better than that piece of crap router Z." And then you read the review of router Z and someone says "Wow, router Z installed so easily - not like the nightmare I had with router X. Don't ever buy router X, what a piece of junk!."I had a Netgear WGR614v6. It installed okay, although the configuration manager left a lot to be desired - plus it came with UPnP turned ON, even though it said itself that the default setting was OFF! That caused an hour of frustration. But once installed it worked okay for a few weeks, and then it just stopped working consistently. In the same way that so many routers seem to do for so many reviewers on these sites, without me changing any settings in either the router or the machine, it started dropping connections randomly, and constantly needed rebooting. I installed updated firmware - no improvement. I wondered how this could be happening, but then when I started reading user reviews widely I realised that this is apparently par for the course: every brand I looked at has at least one person complaining about this problem. All of which is a long preamble to say that you'll have to take any review under advisement. I eventually dediced to go with the D-Link because there were more good customer reviews than bad, and because it got some good reviews from magazines (for whatever that is worth these days). I have to say that so far it has been a good purchase. The installation program was very good - extremely clear and well-thought out. I like the Network Magic program that comes with a 30-day trial for free - in fact I decided to purchase it because it makes the network management so easy. The router has performed consistently since I fired it up: strong signal with no dropouts or mysterious lockups. From MY experience, then, so far, this has been a good product and I would recommend it. But there are no guarantees in the wireless router world.

First off, I'll tell you that I live in an apartment complex with several other apartment buildings all around. My wireless signal is constantly receiving interference from my neighbor's wireless gear, cordless phones, and an in-town wireless Internet service provider that just happens to use 802.11b frequencies.Initially, I owned a Linksys WRT54G and paid for the $70 "high-gain" antenna accessory, but I would still find myself having to change channels periodically throughout the day because my signal would drop to 25% as other routers tried to compete for my channel. I already had some other complaints about the Linksys, so I figured now was finally the time to replace it.Now, I've owned D-Link in the past and the only reason I purchased the Linksys was because it came with such an incredible price discount at the time. But after my disappointing Linksys experiences, I decided to go back and purchase this D-Link instead. Boy, was I surprised when I got it installed at home! I now have between 90% and 100% all day, everyday. This router has a very strong wireless output that appears nothing can shake!! Not only that, but my range has increased at least three-times the distance of that poor Linksys. In conclusion, if you are looking for gaining more range or strengthening your signal to overcome nearby interference then this device is worth every penny. I have been running mine for more than 6 months without complaint! What have you got to lose? Amazon's return process is so simple if you need it, they even print the return label for you. What more could you want?

My Windows XP system was running very stable and fast. Ever since I installed this 802.11 adapter, I'm getting blue screens consistently when I'm doing heavy internet activity. If I just leave the machine up with the connection up but NOT using the connection, it blue screens rarely. What is worse, its somehow even crashing my machine when I connect other USB devices ( I disconnect the devices properly, telling windows to eject them). This never happened before installing this adapter.Considering how stable my machine used to be (3-4 months avg up time before I'd restart it), it's pathetic that it now blue screens every couple of hours. They haven't addressed this issue - their driver on the website is the same it's been for 2-3 years.I've tried a fresh install twice already and am now looking for a better product from some other manufacturer!Bottomline: DON'T BUY this if you value the stability of your system.PS: I wish there was a 0 star rating. Since I had bought this to create a network with a new computer, that poses a bit of a problem. However, the product does work well with an XP computer, although it occasionally disappears from the desktop and the software doesn't open; later, it mysteriously reappears. This, of course, could be the computer or the Netgear router, not the adapter. Consistently has a 108 Mbps signal.

I originally bought a Linksys router and it worked fine. But then I had some cable problems and my cable company insisted it was my router. So I decided to humor them and buy a different router. The specs on this one looked good and it had a rebate (at the time) that made it a bit more affordable so I ordered it from Amazon. As it turned out, my cable issue was a problem in the line, but this router is so good that I've kept it. I've been using it six months now. The management tools for the router are terrific, but more importantly, the thing is FAST.I recommend this product.EDIT (8 months later): I am still very happy with this router. I have recently had yet more cable problems. I pay for 5 mbps download speed from my cable company and noticed I was only getting 3 mbps in actuality. I disconnected the router to rule that out as a cause and did a direct connect to my cable modem. I was surprised to see that my speed dropped to 1 mbps consistently! It appears there is some electronic interference in my house that is causing a problem and that the router actually conditions out that interference pretty darn well, allowing me to get better speeds than I would without it. Very impressive.

I've been using DI-634M router for about a month now and I think it is an OK router, but not great for a MIMO router. Suppose to cover a range of 500ft and my netgear pci adapter is only 100ft away. I get 5 bar out of 8 bar. I was expecting 7/8 for a MIMO router. The Good. The speedstream function to improve for voip (vonage) does work. I could detect the sound quality to be more a little more clear with calls within United States. International calls is still up in the air. I think International calls issue is with vonage. The Bad. Range is average at best. I tested every channel (1-11) on the router. You can rotate the antenna about 180 degree. Be careful while moving the antenna because it take very little pressure to crack the antenna holder. This happen to which happen to me. The gray/silver paint make you believe the router is make of metal but it's really cheap plastic.Plain and simple, I get better coverage with my Netgear WGT624V3 router than this. Not sure I can recommend this router to anyone.

I got the DI-634M after being totally frustrated with the Linksys WRT54GS that I tried after my old Linksys WRT54G died. I never got the new Linksys to work reliably despite lots of trying. The DI-634M has had some setup glitches, but overall I have had a much better experience with it. It is faster than the Linksys that I had before, and the signal strength is stronger through a greater region of the house. If you have other D-Link cards, that will be another plus because they can operate faster together.

Though no technophobe, I had never installed a home network and expected this puppy to be very messy and take several hours. Maybe I'd spent too many nights trying to install 300 baud modems back in the day. Surprise! The wizard led me through installation in no more than 10 minutes. The hardest part was realizing that the WEP code had to be in hex and not alphanumeric. Another 5 minutes and my laptop was connected. Next I installed my TIVO on the network, that took about 15 minutes. Range is excellent. My Tivo is on the other side of the house, 40' away, and down in the basement. Reception down there is fine and I'm currently streaming Live365 to my stereo system via the Tivo.Great product!Update: After a couple of weeks of using this router, I've run into a couple of problems, neither of which is technically the router's fault. First, my internet connection got very flakey and then died altogether. After extensive troubleshooting, it turned out that I needed to replace my phone jack. During this process I did discover that the router will reach the basement from our second floor, albeit a little weakly. The second issue is with the Network Magic software inclosed with the router. I installed the software on my desktop and laptop. It works well enough, but the upgrade/update process is problematic. When I updated the software on my laptop, my desktop wouldn't recognize it any more. Also, even though I paid the subscription fee, my laptop says I haven't. Looking back, I would have checked out other options more fully before deciding on network software.

I have seen the "Blue Screen of Death" a few times, but it is not something that happens all of the time. I can't complain too much about the product considering I picked it up at Fry's Electronics for $19 after a mail in rebate. I needed a USB adapter because the PCMIA card interface went bad.Pros:::(....)*The extension cable is a nice add-on. Even if you don't need it for the AG132 it fits other USB devices as well. The AG132 is a little more bulky than most other USB devices so it can get a little crowded near your USB ports. I did not see the performance gain from plugging the adapter into the extension cable. In fact, performance was slightly degraded. (which was a surprise)*Can be switched between laptops and desktopsCONS:::*Occasional Blue Screen of Death. (When this happens it tends to happen when the system is booting into XP)*Occasional when the system comes out of standby you can't get a signal no matter how close you are to the access point. In order to get a signal you have to remove the card, wait a few seconds and plug it back in.*Performance could be a little better.Overall Recommendation:If you can pick this up for a good price, then you will probably be satisfied. If you are looking for solid performance as your main focus, then you might want to look elsewhere.I don't know why wireless manufacturers not putting external antenna adapters on wireless devices. If the AG132 had an external antenna adapter I would give it a higher rating. If you are looking for performance geek, then check out the Buffalo family of wireless cards. If you are looking for something to connect a home or at the local coffee shop, can deal with some minor issues from time to time, and can pick this adapter up for a good price, then I say go ahead. If on the other hand you want the best performance 100% of the time, or if you have to pay full price for this adapter, I would look for another manufacturer**NOTES**Tested onDell Latitude D600 with 256MB RAMWindows XP service Pack 2(...)

This adapter has driver problems. I downloaded all the recommended software. It still does not work right. I went to the Dlink support site, no help.It will not let my computer shut down correctly in hibernation or standby mode. In hibernation, it just keeps running the computer and will not shut down. In standby, when I bring it back up it says I ejected the hardware incorrectly. Please, please don't waste your money. Buy something that works. I have used Netgear with great success, never has these kind of problems. I wish I stuck with them.

The set up was on a Windows XP Pro home network. I'm famillier with computers and I'm not intemidated by them. I was expecting more of a fight with this project. That is why I waited so long to start it.About a month and a half ago I purchased a D-Link wireless router, DI-634M. Last night I got around to setting up my network. I went through the router setup wizard and then installed the accompanied software, Network Magic. Boom, I was connected. I could see the desktop I was on and the printer connected to it. Checked my internet connection, it was fine. Then the software said to take out the disk and load the software on all other computers. So I broke out the Dell laptop, installed the software, turned on the internal WiFi for the laptop. Again just like that, I was on! It was pretty slick! I could see the laptop I was on, the main desktop and the printer connected to it. I broke out the older Dell W2K laptop with a PCMCIA wireless card (the card is a new D-Link DWL-G650M Wireless 108G MIMO CardBus Adapter that goes with the router). Loaded the Network Magic software and there it is again. I could see all three systems including the printer connected to the main desktop.I have read several times where people had difficulties setting up their new router and software. Fortunately, I have not had the problems that others have described with their installations of other network devices and software. My router and one wireless card is all new along with the Network Magic software. Maybe that is why my installation was so easy.So far Network Magic is, I guess, pretty good. This is my first Home network I have set up. I haven't had any issues yet (My network has been up less than 24 hours), except when I found out that my Network Magic software is a 30 day free trial, it isn't included in the cost of my router.[...]

After spending 4 hours on the phone with people I couldn't understand or hear, the router worked a few times, but would suddenly just drop the internet and I would have to go through the whole setup process again to get it to connect. I finally got it to work, but when I tried to add a D-link range extender, the whole system went down never to be revived even though I spent another 2 hours with support. I finally boxed up the router and returned it to Amazon and bought a Netgear that worked perfectly the first try and connected perfectly with the D-link range extender. I will have to say that D-link support worked hard to get it to work except one tech that I had to rebuke when they tried to dump the problem on Dell.

After having owned just about every wireless router in the galaxy (Linksys and many others) I am pleased to report the DI 634M is by far the most robust, dependable, low maintenance router I have ever owned. In the 2 years I have owned it, I have NEVER had a SINGLE problem with it--regardless of power failures, new Windows installations, configuration changes, and so forth. The security it offers is second to none and this router NEVER complains, stutters, belches, coughs, or gripes. I highly, highly recommend this router for anyone who wants a router that is the equivalent of the Energizer bunny--this baby just keeps going, and going, and going...Thank you DLINK!!!!!!! Somebody finally got it right.

Well since this is my first wireless I cant speak from experience of owning others, but if you follow the instruction to the letter, you should have no problem getting up and running with in a few hours. Yes, hours. It does take a few installs to get it up and going and you will need to update the FLASH memory. Once the unit is configured I haven't had a glitch in 4 weeks and counting. The included network software works great but I don't think it should include an extra cost after trial is up, but for 19.00 I'm not that concerned. I give it five stars because honestly, I didn't expect the install to go without a hitch, It never does, at least for me ;)All in all I am happy... The range on the unit is impressive, works great through brick and old time plaster walls too. Really fast data transfer and lots of features if you like to tinker but the defauls will work fine. Buy it you will be happy with the purchase.... after a day of tinkeringD

I orignally got this so that I could have 802.11g, 108Mbps connectivity. On the plus side, the DWL-G132 does do this but I've had two of these and both have failed after a couple of months. The problem seems to be heat and is evidenced by increasingly frequent loss of connectivity. The first one that failed was plugged into a USB port near the heat vent for my laptop. When I removed it, it was very hot and never worked after that. I thought it was my fault and got another about 3 months ago. It, too, has failed and I was very careful to keep it in the cradle away from any heat sources. When it failed, it was very hot to the touch.I've contacted D-Link but as yet I haven't gotten too far with them. $35 might be good enough for a throw away but I would have expectd to get more than three months service out of it.

OK. I take my words back. I found a solution to the connection problem with windows xp. Download a patch ( WindowsXP-KB884020-x86-enu.exe, solving WPA issues) from microsoft, then everything goes as it should be.-------------------------------------i bought this USB adapter along with DI-624 router for $99. The router works perfectly fine. The USB adapter gave me so much trouble. i used it to connect my desktop pc to wireless network. It works when the network is not encrpted. But it won't find an IP address under WPA security. It searches IP address endlessly. I have winxp sp2 which is supposed to support wireless flawlessly. I think either this so-called 108m bps or the driver causing the trouble. Having seen others having problem with other brands of USB adapter, i think maybe for desktop, a wireless pci card is better.
