Crucial is a very good company who makes reliable, trustworthy RAM memory. This particular product performed great in my older Gateway workstation (motherboard uses a Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz Hyper Threading CPU). This RAM kit (I say kit because it comes with two identical 1GB sticks of RAM) runs at 533Mhz (667MHz capable) in my motherboard vs the 512MB of 400MHz RAM (2 sticks of 256MB ... also 240 pin DDR2, of course) that was installed. I removed the slower RAM so that the system didn't auto-adjust the speed and end up setting the new RAM in sync with the older, slower RAM (yes, two different speeds = slower speed used for all).. And yes, I have 4 DIMM slots (or 2 Dual Channels, meaning 2 SETS of RAM slots for identical pairs), even though 2 slots total is the standard. I then added an additional 1GB (2 x 512MB 667MHz DDR2 kit) of Kingston (ALSO very reputable) that I found used (in a kit) for a total of 3GB, which is close to the limit. Approximately 3.5GB is the limit in Windows, unless you're using a 64 bit version of the operating system. This says nothing for Linux (and all it's tasty flavors), which is a great operating system, lately... So even if I HAD 4GB memory, my (Windows) operating system would only recognize three and a half. With 3GB RAM, my system is running much smoother...If all this confuses you, then I recommend going to crucial.com from the computer you intend to upgrade and find the Crucial Memory Advisor(tm) tool. Click on "scan your computer" at the bottom of the window that contains the advisor. And remember this:1. There are different generations of DDR (or double data rate... the new standard) memory. There's DDR1 (simply referred to as DDR), DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 (I believe DDR4 and 5 are used primarily for high end video cards at this time - late 2010). Find out (for SURE) what generation of DDR RAM you are using, as the different generations are not compatible with each other. The memory stick would not fit in your machine..2. Rather a memory stick be too fast, than too slow. example: 667Mhz memory installed on a motherboard that supports 533Mhz memory will auto adjust the memory to 533Mhz, and will work fine. But 533Mhz memory sticks designed for boards that desire 800MHz sticks means your memory will have to work above and beyond what it was intended for.. So even though they're both (let's say) DDR2, you could run into serious problems if your memory isn't as fast as it needs to be.3. Make sure the pin count is correct. DDR2 is a 240-pin module. DDR is a 184-pin module. Notebooks have 200-pin modules for DDR and DDR2, however the notch on DDR modules is in a slightly different position than that on DDR2 modules. Don't buy mobile (laptop) memory, if you need memory for a desktop, and visa versa. Mobile memory example: PC2-6400 DDR2 SO-DIMM (for notebooks)4. If "kits" and "dual-channel" confuse you, then you should probably buy kits (kits are identical pairs). If your computer NEEDs dual channel memory (a FEATURE), and doesn't receive it, it probably won't run. But if your computer will run memory that is not identical, then the kit will not hurt anyway. Make sense?5. I believe most home computers use non-ECC (error correction checking). unbuffered memory, because it is much more cost effective. Servers use ECC, buffered, because it's mission critical.6. "What's this PC2-5300 stuff?" ... without a long explanation, just divide the last number by 8 to find out the actual speed of the RAM. Multiply the speed by 8 to find the bandwidth (in MB per second). Some shops display only bandwidth, and others only speed. Hence, PC2-5300 is DDR2 667MHz (give or take a few MHz, which is allowed). Likewise PC3-10600 would be DDR3 1333MHz (even though it comes out to 1325MHz...) Make sense? If, after all this, you still have reservations, then I would recommend letting your local computer geek (like myself, were I in your neighborhood) have a look at your machine. A RAM memory upgrade is actually a relatively simple process, to someone who follows computer technology on a regular basis (and preferably worked with more than just one machine).Wow. My review turned into an instruction manual...Good luck.

After hearing countless complaints from my spouse about how slow our old HP Pavillion Laptop was running, I decided to upgrade the memory and the operating system prior to investing in a new laptop. Yes, I'm still running Vista which has to be the worst operating system ever developed.Anyway, I went to the Crucial Website which has a utility to scan your computer and provide you with a list of compatible memory upgrades. After the scan it will display your laptop model, the current memory configuration and the recommended compatible upgrades. According to the scan utility, my system was configured for 1GB and could be upgraded to 2GB of Ram with 2x1gb DDR2 PC2-5300 CL=5 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR2-667 1.8V 128Megx64 modules: Part#CT576506.After searching on Amazon, I found that these memory modules (Part#: CT2KIT12864AC667) shared the same specs as the compatible memory modules listed by the Crucial scan utility but they had a different part number. Out of curiousity, I went back to the Crucial Site and did a Product Search (clicked on Memory link from home page and chose DDR2 option) to see if the ones sold on Amazon would be compatible with my laptop even though they weren't listed by the scan utility as being compatible. When I went to the DDR2 Product Page, 69 products were listed - none of which contained the part number listed by the Crucial Scan Utility. However, they did list the part number sold here on Amazon. My guess is that Micron Technologies updated the part numbers but never adjusted the scan utility to reflect the new numbers.Assuming that these were compatible with my laptop, I ordered them from Amazon and then upgraded the memory following the video instructions on the Crucial Website. Needless to say, they were compatible and worked flawlessly. Taking advantage of Microsoft's discounted pricing for teachers, I then upgraded the operating system from Vista Home Edition to Windows 7 Ultimate Edition for a whopping $9.95. Of course that was for the downloadable version - the disk version would have cost $14.95.Wow, who would have known that adding a little RAM and changing the Operating System could make such a big difference. No more waiting while watching the hard drive light constantly blinking as a result of data being cached to the hard drive because of insufficient memory to perform simple tasks. I'm sure just upgrading the memory alone would have been sufficient without the upgrade to Windows 7, but now my laptop runs like new and I don't feel the need to by a new system. Now let's hope the rest of the laptop holds up.

(Apologies for the weak grammar in the title; evoking an old commercial.) ;-) This was the SECOND RAM upgrade I ordered. The first one was an Amazon Crate Deal, a Kingston "high performance" item, and unfortunately I had to send it back because it was DOA. So much for saving a couple of bucks! Buy your RAM brand new, kids! This Crucial memory upgrade came in the "original" packaging, and after checking yet again to be sure I had the right module for my Acer Aspire One D260, I opened the case again, slipped out the original 1GB RAM module, and inserted this 2GB module. Powered up the system, and THIS ONE worked GREAT! The system runs much more smoothly now. Ubuntu 12.04 really needed a little breathing room, and now I have 14 tabs open in Chromium and it's hardly sweating. With just 1GB RAM, I couldn't have opened another tab without having everything start to bog down. I don't run any Microsoft stuff on this thing but I believe you have to upgrade Windows to use more than 1GB RAM. Ubuntu recognizes and uses it all just fine.(The hard part on the D260 netbook is getting the thing open without destroying something. The tiny clips around the keyboard are nearly impossible to see, but a flat jeweler's screwdriver pushed them aside just fine. Sadly the second time I opened it I broke off a little plastic clip on the bottom of the case. The YouTube video I found warned me! Go slow and you'll do fine. If you have a different laptop or netbook, look around for SPECIFIC instructions on how to upgrade because they are all a little different. Acer tells you this one isn't upgradeable, which isn't true, but they sure don't make it easy!)I can wholeheartedly endorse this Crucial RAM upgrade. If your netbook is struggling to keep up, max out its RAM!

Servicing an older Compaq SR5110NX for a client thatcame with a stick of 512 oem ram which is never enough.Shopped around and since I've always had good servicefrom Crucial decided on this pair of 1 gig sticks making uptwo gigs. Since this unit was an update to W7 64 bit HE,it needed the 2 gigs at least. All was plug and play and definitely sped up the unit.I was pleased how much faster it became for an olderAthlon 64 3800 single core with just 2 gigs of new ramrunning off the same old 120 gig hard drive..Sure couldn't beat the price ! I recommend these sticksfor any upgrade that still uses old DD2 PC-5300. DD2 isexpensive which makes little sense, but oh well.Great service from the seller and as always, Amazon.

I got this for my girlfriend, whose old laptop was seriously underpowered, and it merely needs to limp for a few more years. I bought this to match one of the existing slabs.I must say, compared to two unmatched slabs (512 @5300 and 2G @6400), a pair of 2G @6400 is a bit snappier. It's not going to get around the heaps of bonus bloatware that it came with, or has been installed since, but from what I can tell, it makes a difference. There has been no failure or issue with this RAM in the first 72 hours -- typically a good sign -- and the first 30 days are flawless. I guess we stick with the RAM provider who doesn't let us down, and this product keeps me sticking with Crucial.Remember: always load your laptop to the gills with the biggest, fastest RAM you can; avoiding swapping to disk is the best you can do for productivity. ...and for me, I stick with Crucial.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6915nr laptop that came with 3gb of RAM. I decided to upgrade the memory to the maximum allowed (4gb) since most laptop computers are sold with 4gb minimum. The computer came with a 2GB chip and a 1GB memory chip, so swapping out the 1GB chip with the one I bought was a piece of cake to install. I turned off the computer and took out the battery, unscrewed the memory cover from the back, and removed the old memory and put in the new one. I screwed the cover back on, replaced the battery, and restarted the computer, and now it's showing 4GB of memory instead of 3GB. Performance is definitely noticeable and improved since adding more memory. I would recommend the chip if it's compatible with your old machine.

I added more memory to my Dell mini 10v netbook. The memory is on there and it runs. Of course you can't ask a lot from these machines because the processor isn't that fast, so the memory isn't the only thing that increases the functionality of a computer. My only complaint is that this memory causes the netbook to heatup fast. I recently upgraded and bought a macbook (and haven't looked back btw...lolz), so I gave my netbook to my daughter. She has actually damaged the battery for not shutting off the machine when it got hot. She told me that it get's hot always just after 15-20 minutes of turning it on. I completely forgot that these netbooks don't have fans, and so the solution was to lift it whenever she was using it and it just gets hot, but not burning hot that I can cook my breakfast on it hot. lol. That's why I give it onle 3 stars, because it's kind of ridiculous that the machine is getting hotter. I had thought it was windows 7 (sorry microsoft you are saved lol).Overall I can't complain too much, because it is a netbook and dell and microsoft don't want you to put more memory in it (I had to rip her into pieces to upgrade the ram)..lolz maybe that was the reason why? Well I just need to get her a new battery, but we now know how to fix the heating problem thankfully. :)

My HP laptop is getting up in years, a Pavilion dv4000 custom order machine, which needs some upgrades to stay serviceable. First is to get more memory. After searching for the best deal on this particular specification, there are many model numbers, I settled on these memory modules. They arrived in great shape and I installed them right away. They perform wonderfully and I am completely satisfied.Crucial is a brand I have used over the years as well as Amazon and as usual both performed excellently.Always make sure that you buy the correct memory for your computer. Crucial has a great compatability checking site that I would recommend.

As always, Crucial memory never disappoints! I received this 2GB memory and immediately put it into an old Dell XPS M1210 that was almost a giveaway. It was sooooo slow. In combination with reloading the factory configuration (on the protected partition), this breathed new life into this machine for 30 bucks!! Even with a 512GB Hard Drive this baby just came to life.Going from 512MB to 2GB memory did the trick. I have mostly used Crucial memory when I could and have NEVER been disappointed. And made in the USA!Thank you Crucial.

It is RAM, installed on a netbook and multitasking became much more responsive. I would recommend this for any compatible netbook. The netbook I used only could be upgraded to 2 GB RAM. The only suggestion I would have it to make sure you are buying the right RAM for your computer but checking with the manufacture. Crucial has a comparison tool which if you cross reference the RAM you find on their site with Amazon you will find that Amazon has a much better price and customer service. If this review helped you please let me know. Thanks and happy shopping.

My work machine is about 7 years old now and had a staggering 1GB of shared memory (half of that was used by the video card). So I've been essentially getting by with 512MB of RAM. This was fine for many years until we upgraded to Office 2007, then the slow down came. Especially as my HD filled up I ran out of virtual memory.Installing this has been a game changer. I'm far more productive because the RAM allows my computer to run much faster without having to resort to using the HD as back up storage for open windows.Easy to install and worked perfect!

Beware of the "bait and switch" from venders who claim to sell Crucial brand but send you something else that "may be compatible" with your machine. I would recommend you confirm your purchase after placing your order to be very clear on what you will be receiving.. Good packaging and quick delivery. I have an HP Mini 210-1010nr, originally with 1GB of RAM. I had looked at the 4GB upgrade, but there were conflicting reports about whether it was compatible or not. I decided to "settle" for the certainty of the 2GB card, and my anemic netbook that always froze on me returned to life, just like it was when it was new. Once you figure out the trick to open the back cover, you can access the RAM in about 60 seconds. It is SUPER easy to do, and most recent HP laptops open up the same way. Just look it up on YouTube. Whether you are having problems with your low-end computer or not, you should put adding more RAM on top of the list of things to do.

I got the dreaded black screen with my Asus EEE 900HA netbook. It turned out to just be bad RAM, so I purchased this 2 GB chip. Actually installing the RAM was simple- unscrewed the small cover on the bottom, popped out the old RAM, snapped in the new RAM and replaced the cover. I went to the Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, then clicked See Basic Information about your Computer. This showed me that the pc was not recognizing the 2 GB. It took me a while before I realized that I had to hit F2 right after I turned the power on to bring up the BIOS and accept the new settings. Now my beloved netbook is up and running wonderfully!
