Read the reviews, saw a few on here that had my exact model so I went ahead and bought it.I know NOTHING about hardware. Computer software I can do but hardware? Totally intimidates me, HOWEVER, I watched a few Youtube videos on how to do this and it seemed so easy (and it is, trust me).I bought the 8GB DESPITE reading some forums that said my 5,1 Macbook would only go to 4.Not true. I bought the 8GB, didn't do anything special to my computer and the system recognizes it as 8GB of RAM.This is a WORLD of difference, folks. I went from 2GB to 8GB and my computer is running like new.I did run into a minor 'glitch' when installing this. I removed the old memory sticks and stuck in the new ones and put it back together. I hit the power button to turn it on and OOPS! I heard a series of beeps. I practically freaked out, thinking I messed up my computer for good. I used my phone to google this and the beeps are memory-related and typically mean that the memory sticks are not in tight enough. So I had to unscrew the computer and try again. I gave 'em a good shove and hoped for the best.This time, it worked.And for under $40, I have a super-fast laptop!

Very easy upgrade to do. Just followed instructions on youtube and it was completed within 10 min. The hardest part was finding a screwdriver small enough. I did however update the firmware to the latest on the late 2008 unibody macbook and also made sure I had snow leopard installed. The memory was recognized right away. This 4 year old macbook acts like a new one now. I can run parallels and mac os at the same time with no slowdown at all. There have been no erratic behavior since installation. No crashes, etc. The memory appeared as shown in the picture with macbook memory written on it. Macbook has been running for probably 6 weeks or more straight now.EDIT:late 2008 Macbook has been running for 4 months straight with mountain lion installed. This memory is still performing well. I have only had to reboot about 6 times due to strange behavior, but considering I never turn it off, this is not bad and could be due to the change in OS.

Update 12/29/12: I ordered more of these to update identical macbooks. The first did not work - wouldn't boot with 3 beeps so I thought maybe I just got a bad set of modules. I returned it for a replacement and the second set did not work again - all 4 modules wouldn't boot. I also noticed that since my original review a few months ago the memory modules look different. The new ones have fewer number of chips per module... even though the manufacturer product number is the same, the way the modules are made must be different because the new ones do not work and look different (unless I got two bad sets in row which seems unlikely). I ended up ordering the Kingston memory modules and they work perfectly.Original review:Relatively easy to install and it works great. My late 2009 macbook (macbook 6,1) is supposed to only support 4GB of RAM according to apple, but I read that 3rd parties confirmed that it actually supports 8GB so I decided to try out this RAM to see.It works great! The OS sees all 8GB of RAM and is using it without any problems - no kernal panics or reboots. If you have the same computer do not hesitate to buy this product, it works perfectly as advertised.

Originally, I had only 2X2GB of RAM with Leopard OS. I upgraded to Lion OS and noticed an immediate slowdown of my system. After about a year of the the semi hindered computer and many more uploaded softwares utilized, I decided like many others before me, to upgrade my RAM to MAX capacity. I notice a slightly faster computer but nothing that I can really quantify while running my Apple Time Capsule 2TB MD032LL/A [NEWEST VERSION], while backing up slows down the Mac, and listening to music from Pandora and working simultaneously on Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student -Family Pack and also having the partition using Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac [Old Version] running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium DVD. All of this running at the same time sometimes runs the Macbook Pro well past the 4GB on the new memory installed. I guess it works well enough and that is all I care about.I had purchased PNY 8 GB (2x4 GB) DDR3 1333 1066MHz 8 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 10666) 204-Pin Notebook SO-DIMM (MN8192KD3-1333), which stated that it was specifically for Macs, but it did not work. Do not buy that product, instead by the apple approved Corsair.

I bought my MacBook Pro with the full intention of upgrading my RAM to save some cash. I started with 4GB of memory (a downgrade from my laptop before, an HP with 6GB). I noticed immediately my MacBook Pro was much slower and launched programs with some serious LAG.Upon installation of the two 4GB (a total of 8GB) memory sticks, I noticed an immediate increase in performance speeds and launch time of software on my laptop. Installation was easy and fast, and I experienced no difficulties with the product in question. My MacBook Pro is now lightning fast and superior to the way it was. I am incredibly satisfied, and I highly recommend this product for Mac users who want to increase their laptop's performance.

After previously replacing my HDD with a 500GB version, I noticed at lot more beachballs for some reason. After a few months it started to really bother me so I maxed out the memory capacity on my Snow Leopard machine with this kit. It originally had 2GB.Install was quick and easy. The machine recognized the memory right away and seemed to solve the issue of the beachballs. Even after a few weeks now, I do not see any beachballs like I used to before the memory upgrade and the machine is noticeably quicker. (still using SL)Photo gallery comes up almost instantly on iPhoto. It used to lag due to reading from the HDD. iMovie clips also appear almost instantly but rendering times are still limited to my CPU speed (e.g. additional memory does not speed that up)Slightly off topic but I am not going to upgrade to ML even though I can. I don't want to mess up what's going well with SL.Overall I am very happy with this "cheap" upgrade to breathe new life into my mid 2009 MBP.

Stock 4GB were not cutting it for recording in Apple's Logic Pro. 4GB only allowed me to run in 32bit mode and the program would crash while trying to mix music. I got this 8GB ram set and voila! Now I'm running in 64bit mode with lots of plugins. At 50 tracks it begins crashing again, so 16GB or 32GB would be best, but this works great for basic sessions using Logic virtual instruments and getting to final mixes. Very happy!

Absolutely great. Used as upgrade to my Mid 2010 MacBook pro 15" I5. The ram was delivered on time. Was ridiculously easy to install per the ram upgrade instructions available from Apple and is performing as expected. I only wish I had done this years ago. Ran Onyx and now my MBP is humming. The next purchase will be a SSD to replace my optical drive and I will definitely be purchasing that from Amazon as well.

I bought this for my Mid-2009 MBP, which uses DDR3 1066Mhz memory. But newer Macs may use memory with higher frequency (1333Mhz and above). If you install 1066Mhz ones on those newer models, you won't get optimal performance. Consult Apple's memory upgrade guide to find out the exact specs of the memory your Mac is using before you buy.The first pair of memory I received turned out to be defective. Several memory addresses failed the test (e.g.: wrote FFFFFFFF to the defective address, but what I read back at the same address became FFFFFFDF, which is incorrect). The system may boot and run for some time without problem even with these defects lying in dormant, until someday they get written/read and the system will crash. You may want to test your memory as soon as you installed them, preferably using Memtest86+. I returned the defective memory immediately and asked for a replacement. The new pair Amazon sent me now have passed all the tests.I like the new package of the memory. They are now using cardboard paper + plastic holder instead of the hard plastic wrap shown in some of the picture on the product page. Much easier to take the memory sticks out without damaging them.I took one star off because I had to request a replacement. But second time is the charm.

Purchased for Mid 2010 Macbook Pro Model 6,2MC371LL/A Model No: A1286 (EMC 2353*)15 Inch screen, 2.4 Ghz i5Checked compatibility carefully, and: they never worked. Kernel panics, gray screen, no go.Could never get MBP to boot with these modules, in any slot, in any combination. Cleared PRAM, did step by step troubleshooting: no go, ever.Machine booted right back up just fine with OEM RAM.This is the correct speed for the MBPro model above, and, is within the maximum memory limits for this unit. (These modules would have maxed it out at 8GB, 2 x 4 GB)For whatever reason, they did not work in my MBPro.

This memory reinvigorated my four year old iMac and made it shine again. It was an inexpensive fix to a problem that had grown over time until it forced me to finally do some simple performance analysis. This memory was so easy to order, so easy on my pocket, and so easy to install that I can't believe I didn't do it much sooner. Oh, well. Thank you Amazon!

I ended up returning this item to the seller because it would not work in my 2009 MacBook Pro despite being on the compatibility list. When installed, the computer would just give the 3 beeps of death when powered on and would not boot. Bought a set of Kingston memory modules and all is working great!

worked good for a few months than everything went down hill. Macbook pro would get hot right away and shut off when watching any kind of video. After trying everything and months of research I finally removed the RAM and put back the stock ram and bam! my baby is back to normal! What a complete waste of money.

This was an easy upgrade for my 2010 Mac Mini as I was going from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and needed more RAM. I used to have 2 GB and going to 8 was a huge difference, it definitely gives a little more pep to the computer when I'm running tons of Apps. It almost seems to give better load times in Safari with the memory too. This is way cheaper than the memory you would get directly from Apple and it was perfectly compatible. Best deal by a long shot.

Symptoms were Safari crashing 5-7 times a day on my MacBook Pro ... no other significant symptoms. Decided to repair my disk using Disk Utility ... BOOM!!! Disk Utility killed my partition.Lessons: 1) Do NOT run a disk repair utility UNTIL you ensure that memory is in a good state! 2) See error -6002F in OS X Recovery Screen assume memory is problem first before you go through what I did :(Going through RMA process now and glad I kept original memory around ...

Very good addition to your macbook. I bout it for my 15-inch late 2008 model and it has been a good performance bump to my aging laptop. Installation was also easy, I just took off the bottom cover for the battery, undid the screws, took off the rest of the bottom, and replaced the RAM.When replacing it, you should take out the battery as well. The RAM pops up, you pull it out and then put the new RAM in. One thing to realize is that for me it did not really make a clicking sound when you push the RAM back down. I don't know if it is specific to my laptop but it's the one thing that slowed me down when installing.Great product and at the lowest price. Highly recommended buy.

I upgraded my Macbook pro late 2008 to 8G with Corsair sticks. Installation was easy. and haven't had any issues so far. More ram is always useful especially if you are running VMs along with other computationally intensive applications on your mac.

UPDATED - got the replacement RAM just two days after returning the bad RAM. Installed and appears to work fine. Three stars for the bad batch.Original review -Should have read the reviews more carefully. Got a defective pair. Brand new packaging. Boop-boop-boop when booting up. Re-inserted old RAM sticks and booted up fine. Early 2009 iMac. Will update this review if the replacement RAM works. But now I'm wondering if I should have gotten the Crucial instead. Will see.

I never write reviews on Amazon, but this product compelled me to do so. I received my corsair 8 GB mac memory kit in 2 days, and installed it in 10 minutes. Very easy to do if you have the right tools(#00 philips screwdriver). I have a Macbook Pro(Late 2008) which came stock with 2GB of ram. After extensive research, I found out that even though Apple says that this computer is only rated for 4GB it actually can go up to 8GB. The computer feels completely supercharged. Multi-tasking no longer brings the dreaded pinwheel, but the apps load in no time. If I do experience any problems, I will update my review, but for now, 5 stars across the board!!!

I received this as a gift, for my mid-2009 Mac Mini, and it has transformed my computer. I had 2GB of RAM previously, and the machine was sluggish - it took a long time to boot, programs took forever to open...now, it's so much peppier! Programs load super fast, and the machine just feels much more responsive!I've used Corsair components in the past, and have always had good experiences with them. I've no reason to believe this will be any different.

It's hard to tell how much of a difference the memory made, since I installed it in my 2009 MacBook Pro at the same time as an SSD drive (and boy, does that SSD speed up performance. As in, drop everything and get an SSD drive if you don't already have one). But I haven't noticed any slowdowns even with dozens of tabs open. But looking at Resource Monitor, and seeing how much of a memory hog OS X is, the upgrade was long overdue and definitely worth it.

I downloaded Mountain Lion on my 2009 Macbook Pro. It slowed my computer to the point that it was unusable. After installing the memory it is much quicker, can handle multiple programs running at once, and no longer freezes up. Easy to install. Did it at home.
