Love this little printer. The quality is awesome and it's really easy to use. Don't use the mobile app to print though - it washed out the photos.

I love my printer. I print so many more photos now because of it. Which is good, because I am a professional photographer.
Originally, I bought this printer because I started offering photobooths at the weddings I photographed, and sometimes the bride would want prints immediately to give to her guests. This little printer did the job beautifully, and is very fast!
My assistant printed off photos while I took shots at the photobooth, and the brides have always been very happy.

At home, I use it personally for scrapbooking, and I printed Christmas cards to send to family last year. I adore this little workhorse. Buy it. You'll love it.

This is a really good printer but Windows 8 users TAKE CARE! There is no official Windows 8 driver support and Canon have no plans to according to their service and support team, "Please be advised that the SELPHY CP900 printer will not be supported by Windows 8 (32/64 bit) operating systems."

There is an excellent review on here by R. Beedall that explains how the Windows 7 drivers can be made to work with a couple of simple operating system tweaks. This worked perfectly for me.

The printer itself is fast and the prints are of excellent quality. The wireless functionality works both in Infrastructure (connecting via a router) or Ad hoc modes. Take care that pre jelly bean (e.g. ice cream sandwich) android phones will not connect to Ad hoc networks (without hacking/root'ing them).

I personally use the Seagate 1TB Wireless Plus Mobile Device Storage portable external hard drive to create an infrastructure WLAN when I'm out and about, then connect both my Windows 8 tablet and Selphy CP900 to it. Gives me complete wireless freedom to take my photos, store them on the Seagate, post-process on my tablet in Adobe Lightroom and then print them to my Selphy. And because the Seagate is essentially a battery powered router I can connect it to either my mobile's portable wifi hotspot or a public hotspot, connect to the Internet and publish them to Flickr, Facebook or back them up to the cloud - all without needing a single mains cable.

NB I power the Selphy and recharge my tablet and Seagate using the very excellent GoalZero Sherpa 50 Li-ion battery pack, which itself recharges via a GoalZero Nomad 13 solar panel ([...]).

This has been work perfectly for the last 3 months but has now decided to not recognise any of the images loaded via an SD card.
(I have to do it this way as the printer is also incompatible with Windows 8 (Canon having decided not to create a driver - EVER)
So it's now worthless to me. Have checked forums and Canon say there is nothing tpo be done - no workaround or alternative.

Please consider this as it's pretty pathetic really - as if anyone wants to print straight out of the camera.

I am a scrapbooker and needed a printer that would give me good quality, occasional prints for when I didn't want to turn on the computer.
This printer does exactly that and is very simple to use. I mostly print from an sd card straight out of my camera, but have printed from my iPhone using the Canon app. I haven't tried it from my computer, as that's not what I wanted it for.
The quality is mostly great and prints come off fairly.
I mainly print 4x6, but I love that it is able to print several smaller pictures on one page as I often use 3x4 photos in my projects.
It's very portable too. I recently took it on our holiday and was able to start my scrapbook before we got home.
It's not perfect though. I have noticed that it crops my photo a little; I have lost the top part of people's heads! I am however still getting used to it, so maybe I'll figure out how to stop this. I also think it would work out quite expensive to print out a whole batch of photos and will continue to order online for that.

The Selphy CP800 sub-dye printer is geared towards mobile on the go printing, as evidenced by the small size, available battery pack, and ability to read and print from several media cards and USB drives. It does not ship with a USB cable, although it can be connected to a PC (if you purchase or have a spare USB cable lying around), and includes a CD containing drivers and printing software offering more printing features and options than the stand-alone device. When assembled, the body is compact, although the paper tray extends about 7-8 inches out from the front of the printer. The printer specifications claim it can read and print photos from nearly two-dozen memory card formats, however, it only has three different sized slots (compactFlash, SD, and memory stick). If you want to use different sized cards, like micro-SD, you'll need adapters, but according to Canon, they should be readable. It can also read directly from USB thumb drives. Like most photo printers, the USB port has a pictbridge logo instead of the normal USB logo, but it is indeed a USB interface.Assembly of the CP800 is simple. After inserting the print (dye) roll, paper, paper cartridge, and plugging in the AC adapter, you're ready to print. The LCD display is clear and nicely sized. Oddly, although the printer is black, the AC adapter and cord are white.Printing takes about one minute per print. The photo slides back and forth through the front and rear of the printer during printing. When the picture passes through the rear during printing, it makes contact with the surface that the printer is sitting on. It's a good idea to make sure you sit the printer on a clean dust free surface to prevent the photo from picking up any debris as it passes back and forth through the rear. Different colors are applied to the print with each pass. On the first pass, you might think the printer is defective when you see the yellow print coming out of the front. Rest assured, it will pass through the printer a few more times and will begin to look normal by the third pass. The finished photos look very nice. The colors are more uniform and free from defects and artifacts than my ink jet prints. There's no separation of colors, no "pop-out" effect (where the photo is held on an angle under lighting and some areas appear so differently, they seem to pop out from the rest of the image. For instance, the face might seem really glossy, while the hair and clothing appear matte), no roller marks, no ink spatter, no orange tinge, etc. Photos from the Selphy also seem more durable and resistant to damage from handling. There are no worries of smudging, fingerprint swirls, or easy moisture damage like inkjet prints. Also, the longevity of inkjet prints is very unpredictable. I have two HP inkjet photos hanging beside each other on a wall in my home. Neither is framed nor exposed to any direct sunlight. The newer print (printed on "high-quality" photo paper) has turned a funky shade of yellowish orange, while the other print (at least two years older and printed on plain paper) is perfectly fine. I've also witnessed some brands of blank inkjet photo paper yellow over time. I have several dye-sub prints (from different printers, not the Selphy), that are at least five years old and still look as nice as the day they were printed.The CP800 is cleaner, faster, and the prints are more durable than inkjet prints. That's the good news. The bad news is the cost and scarcity of supplies. Dye-subs are generally more expensive to use than inkjets, and the Selphy is no exception. The special paper (you can't just grab any old photo paper on sale) and the dye rolls can cost into the hundreds of dollars for high-end dye-subs, IF you can even find the paper and dye. Fortunately, Selphi supplies are more affordable, but still far from cheap. Prints on the Selphy average out to roughly 41 cents per print (assuming no lost prints). Compared to the typical photo printing services, that's pretty expensive. Also, like I mentioned, supplies are hard to find. Although you should be relatively safe ordering supplies online, if you get caught in a situation where you need to purchase supplies quickly, you may not be able to find any readily available. The Selphy is okay for occasional lab-quality, durable prints; however, unless you have a compelling reason to pay nearly triple the price-per-print of a photo lab, it's hard to recommend it for casual users who want to occasionally print snapshots. I'll likely use the Selphy for those few very special prints or my kids' school assignments. However, my bulk digital printing will continue to be processed through a lab.

Relatively easy to follow instructions and print quality is good. It does not come with printer ink or paper. Both ink and printing paper seem pricey making photos expensive to print. However it is convenient to produce postcard size snaps. I have not tried using compatible paper or inks if they are available.

This is a great little product, well packaged, easy to setup and connect to your wifi system and prints really good quality pictures. The unit has many features I will probably never use as I prefer to print directly from my lap top but its great having it just sat there ready to receive pictures at any time. On the Down side, I could not send directly from my windows phone but I suspect that's a phone fault not the printer. I would recommend tis product to any one looking to print there own photographs.

Excellent well made product for Selphy printer. This is the second one I have purchased -- bought one for friends who are touring France for six months and taking printer with them. Ideal for keeping it safe.

I have used this product alot and will alot more in the future I bought a battery hoping that it would slot in somewhere and after finding out it needs a battery adapter which cost more then the printer I bought an inverter and run it from a car socket while on the go.

I gave my wife the Canon SELPHY on Christmas Day ......but was very disappointed to find there was no INK.....& worse not even clear instructions
as to what INK TO ORDER .
So until we source the correct INK I cant review the product-----VERY ANNOYING!
Canon should issue a warning on their box to say "Please note INK is NOT included.....please order xxx"

Very nice case. Looks good and is very robust and sturdy. Plenty of storage space and feels nice to hold.

I like to protect my gadgets, and I will be taking my printer with me in my camper van. Fits everything I will need inside including power leads.

I had the earlier version of this printer (CP300 with battery) and loved it. For travel reasons, I picked up the latest CP800.First of all, there is not much design change from the earlier version with the exception of the LCD screen.Here are my observations:1. the tray door on the printer is still very flimsy. Applying light pressure, the door hinge breaks (which happened to my old CP300) and the design has not improved over the years. If you have the paper tray in the printer and if you lift the printer to move it, chances are, when you put the printer down, you will break that door. Canon engineers never traveled with this printer or they just designed this to fail on purpose2. the printer is black, however, the paper tray and power supply are white. When I opened the box, the whole thing looks like a going-out-of-business sale with non-matching components. Does it kill Canon to have matching colors?3. the power supply is humongous. It is almost half the size of the printer. I understand it has to deliver 2.2 A of power at 24V. But lots of laptop power supplies delivers much more power than this and still have much smaller bodies. This humongous power supply almost defeats the purpose of having a travel printer. Apparently, Canon engineers do not understand how its customers would use the printer. I will use one of my much smaller, old laptop power supplies instead4. there is no USB cable. IMHO, a cable with type B connector should be provided for use with computers. And this will spare customers to search for a not-so-common B connector USB cable. Apparently, it would kill Canon to include a cheap USB cable5. Is it necessary to use a piece of non-printable paper as the first page in every paper pack? Paper packs in Canon's KP-108IN do not have this non-printable first page. For some users (such as my careless friend), this ruins their very first print job. Canon, first impression of any product is very important. Take notes.6. The paper tray is too complicated than necessary. Opening two pieces of cover to load paper is not intuitive. And the flimsy plastic can easily break7. After so many iterations, Canon still does not know how to build printer drivers into the printer itself for Windows and Mac despite the fact the printer has internal memory nor it understands how to build a true plug-and-play printerMy conclusion is, Canon engineers are too lazy to built a sturdier, user-friendly travel printer and do not understand how its customers use this printer. The Selphy printer is a good MBA case study how stupid thoughtless lazy design eventually kills an otherwise innovative idea.

This is a very compact and very convenient printer for producing 6" x 4" prints, credit card size ones or stickers. It's a dye sub printer rather than an inkjet and prints on a plasticy type paper. Manual says the prints are waterproof so I ran one under a tap and it lived up to the claims. Says prints will last a 100 years, which is a lot longer than an SD card or a computer, not sure how to test that though :-). Prints are pretty good quality, although a couple needed an extra bit of 'Brightness' from the on screen menu as they were a little on the dark side. One word of warning: to use the credit card size paper you need to get a seperate paper cassette product code PCC-CP400. Overall very good an highly recommended.
Update: as with any printer image quality depends on the source material - you really can see the difference between photos taken on a compact and a DSLR. Don't think much of the supplied software, much easier to put photos onto a SD card or USB stick.

This a perfect case for the Selphy printer room for the printer - tray - paper leads etc.. useful for storing and on the move.

This case was a great price and is of great quality very pleased with the space in side does hold all you need.

I strongly advise that you don't buy this product if you use a Mac.
Cannon have not bothered to upgrade their software so I can't install software on my MAC running 10.9.1
Using the adhoc mode and the iPhone App does not work, as the app doesn't recognise that the iPhone is linked to the device in ad hoc mode so there is no way to print my photos off my iPhone.

Really poor - Cannon need to get their act together.

A couple of things to be aware of with this printer: firstly, it does NOT come with either ribbon or paper included, you need to buy those separately, or be very frustrated that you can't try out your new purchase at once. Best value box set is the KP-108IN, with 3 ribbons and 108 sheets of 4x6 paper.

Secondly, for anyone on Mac running Mountain Lion, the included software disc does NOT support Mountain Lion. Yeah, really. How long has Mountain Lion been available now? Must do better, Canon. Anyway, you'll have to go to Canon UK website/support and download the appropriate driver from there.

Once you get past these initial hurdles, things get better. The printer is compact, but rattles out prints within a minute, and the colours are pretty accurate right out of the box - I haven't even bothered with profiles. The Canon Easy Print app (from your app store) lets you print by wi-if direct from your phone or iPad with no hassle. You could carry the whole thing easily to an event, and print onsite. If you just want something to print the occasional snap from your phone, or a set of holiday prints right from the memory card or computer, this is ideal. Easy to set up and simple to operate - what more do you need?

(Well, a ribbon and some paper in the box would be nice!)

This was a gift for my daughter who uses it all the time for printing pictures wirelessly from her iphone.
Pictures have good clarity and look like they will last.

Bear in mind that separate ink and photo paper need to be bought for this as it's not part of the pack.

Bought this for my 94yr old Mum she loves packing her printer and camera in the bag when staying away from home. Its very good pockets to keep bits in she knows where to find everything.It is very well made and looks nice.
