Love this camera...the quality of the photos and the zoom capabilites are fantastic.Great camera for the person that loves photography.

For the price this is an amazing camera. The telephoto is something to behold and the IS really works well even on very high power. It is well designed with comfortable and practical grip areas. I totally recommend this camera for photographers that are past point and shoot but not really at the pro level.

I bought this because of the zoom, as most would. I wanted a camera to carry with me on walks, and can't afford a huge zoom for my dslr. I had the Panasonic that was one of the "big" zooms--I think it was 10 or 12x--and I loved it until it died. The reviews led me to believe the quality of htis is as good as the Panasonic, but it doesn't appear to be. I am really unimpressed, and went to return it immediately, only to find out that I have to pay for the shipping, and it will take a couple of weeks for my refund. I am an Amazon Prime member--you'd think they'd at least pay for the shipping. Next time I'll buy locally. It's impossible to tell from online images what an actual photo will look like, and I need enlargement quality. It's possible that the particular camera I received was damaged--the box was dinged up and there was very little inside padding--the camera was pretty loose in the box...but I have no way of knowing that.

This camera is amazing for that task. I had looked at the SX30 and the SX40 in the past but for me testing them out at the stores the Autofocus just was not yet fast enough for me to be willing to work with. The SX50 changes that and has a very quick AF system that has already worked for me in a variety of situations for a sub 500 dollar point and shoot class camera I am extremely impressed with the AF system.

Been using a lot of Canon cameras for a while, even DSLR... but this one is my new love. Excellent picture quality, beautiful colors, big display, LOT of functions and the zoom... the zoom... oh boy! Is like having a camera attached to a telescope, sometimes it gets tricky to handle it, since at full zoom you move the camera just a little bit and youre pointing to a totally different place. With the image stabilization you'll always get sharp images.

This camera is a terrific compromise for someone who wants a long zoom (50X) in a relatively compact package with lots of features and without the high cost of a SLR model. It does have many buttons and requires careful handling. I used it for a few nature shots and have been very satisfied.

I haven't used it much. Taking my time and reading up on it. We had the largest full Moon that's been seen for years. I went out, after dark, and zoomed in on it. The Moon filled the screen. I took several pictures and they were really sharp. Amazing, I was just holding it in my hands.Also it's the first camera I've had that works fine in the "auto" setting. Colors, sharpness, contrast, etc.are almost perfect. Putting it on "P" didn't improve the picture.

This is a wonderful camera and I do not regret buying it.......Has a wonderful zoom and takes professional pictuures. A friend of my was next to me in a religious activity and was suprised........She thought it was a professional camera.........

This is a replacement for a prior model. Used primarily as a studio camera it has decent quality suitable for presentation materials. Very solid camera, good features and the swivel screen is great.

This replaced a 4yr old Samsung digital. I started out on full auto, and I was very impressed with the zoom and overall picture quality. I have used the flash several times and those shots are well lit, good color and no red eye. The face recognition and AF work great. Now getting beyond full auto and controls are easy to use. Very satisfied with this camera.

The magnification is magnificent and I was pleased with the quality of the pictures, mostly taken in daylight. The viewfinder needs to be improved. I'm still getting used to the camera.

Excellent pictures, and that's what you want in a camera. This has more than a dozen modes, and I'm still exploring them. Auto is a good fall back, and give good results. Low light performance is also excellent. Quickly shifts from SLR viewfinder to flip screen. Zoom is huge. And I bought a spare battery so I wouldn't be disappointed by running out of power and missing that great picture - only necessary for a long day of taking many, many pictures - but why chance it?

I normally shoot with a 5d mkII and fixed focal length glass, but keeping track of all of my equipment makes it difficult to enjoy travel. I ordered the sx50 based on my previous experience with quality canon products and a bulk of positive user reviews. When I powered the camera on for the first time - dead pixels on the main lcd! Unacceptable, especially with such a low res EVF as the alternative. That being said, the zoom was amazing when it could get all the light it wanted. Instead of replacing the defective unit, I decided that the strength of the zoom alone wasn't enough for me and decided to return the unit and buy the panasonic fz200 for faster glass, external mic ability, and better video ability.

This was a present to myself and I couldn't be more happy with it. It's a great camera with features for a novice or for the more experienced. It's a great introductory camera if you're looking to learn more about setting a shot and not just using the Auto button.

I love it! I can shoot my sons football games from the stands! Great zoom! Clear pics! Easy to operate.

I have always thought these were a great family of cameras. Takes good pictures but more study is required. Will buy another SX in the future. We would still have the SX30 except for a rainstorm in Rome.

I have a two year old and five year old so I wanted an easy to use camera that would produce good shots. We took a trip to Alaska and with the zoom I was able to capture shots of animals up close in Denali National Park. Initially I wanted a DSLR camera but knew I didn't have enough time to learn how to use it This point and shoot gives you good pics.

nearly useless. I returned it. If one of the major reasons I got this functions poorly, then it is GONE.

Just returned from vacation and needed a powerful zoom to capture the shots I wanted. Camera performed great; no problems at all with image stability. Colors were vibrant. Very satisfied with this Canon!

It's not too big and take great picture and it's also a very good price, afordable for a good camera!

Had it for 3 months & it works great! Lots of fun features if you want to take the time to learn them. I wish it had a vintage setting though. I can't find it if it does. Light compared to the EOS.

This was a gift for my son's 20th birthday. He has a photography class in college. This camera is amazing ~ he loves it!! I love it!!!

We had the previous model and after a couple if years if heavy use gave up on us. We decided to get the same one, but was not available anymore therefore we opted for the new model, is 100 times better, faster and unbelievable zoom! Very happy about it

The zoom on this camera is one of its best features. Also, the quality of the pictures are amazing, even when zooming in from long distances; the colors are very vibrant as well. I like the fold out screen; makes it easy when video taping.I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Great camera, great price!
