Ordered camera after seeing it 4+ star consumer reviews. Received camera and shot 115 test photos (most in automatic mode); 35 photos were blurry, and that was with the image stabilization on. Camera is made of cheap grade plastic (in my opinion). The rotorly control dial on the back is not at all user friendly, being in a location where your finger will accidentally rotate it. I expected much more from this camera, and was quite disappointed. It was returned the next day after receiving it. I got better results from my cheap Fujifilm 20X zoom lens camera. Even got better photos from an older model canon point and shoot camera. I did not expect it to be "as good as my DSLR camera, but did expect it to be better than what it was.

Returned for replacement. Lens had a squeak when powering camera on. Very prompt customer service. New camera being sent to me within one day.

I'm not professional, however this camera is awesome. I love it.No problems until now. Good image, quality, size and weight. No issues with the zoom. Battery life is good. Videos and Pictures are awesome.Update:From Dec. 2012 until Oct.2013, this camera was excellent product.The facts:PROS:- Pictures of distant Birds with zoom are amazing. With +50x, you will need a tripod or base for best results.- Flower pictures with real colors- Pictures of people in action are fantastic getting the exaclty moment of the activity. No blur.- In terms of videos, I usually don't use the camera for videos, however I have some of them without noise of the zoom mechanism.- Moon pictures. Wow, this was the best part using my Canon camera. The moon pictures are really impressive, when you can see clearly the moon surface details. I use full zoom (200x, digital zoom included ). I have a tripod and a the Canon Remote Control avoiding undesired movements.- Weight and size perfects. The camera quality materials are very good.CONS:- I use a lot the viewfinder during sunlight and I think that it could be better in terms of definition.- I some cases, the options/buttons are a little bit complicated to use. Over time you will get used.NEXT:- I will explore the camera capabilities, taking pictures of dark skies with the stars.- I will make videos in slow motion (fps 240).I recommend this camera for general use. After almost 1 year of use, I remain loving it.

I Purchased This Item And Love It But Was Suppose To Get A 16GB Memory Card And Did Not Receive That Card

I just returned from an Alaska Cruise. I took several wildlife pictures that were astonishing. To the naked eye, the goats on the mountain side were just white dots but the pictures I took were clear and well focused. I used a monopod to steady the camera and shot the pictures. The white dots were a mother and her baby. Also shot pictures of a convocation of eagles that I had to shoot on rapid fire because they were flying so fast. When I looked at these pictures on the computer, several of them blew up into nice clear pictures of eagles. Great camera. glad I got it in time to take on the trip.

Am I wrong to expect the camera to come with all components needed to take a photo, and SEE the photo as well?The camera arrived without a memory card or special cable(s), two items necessary to take and view a photo!This is bad business, and it is now a mistake for me to have made this purchase because I'm leaving on a trip and can't wait for another mail shipment. I won't be able to buy a memory card or cable where I'm going and now I won't be able to use the camera for my trip.Thanks Canon! Thanks Amazon!!What college graduate thought this was a good idea?I'll go to Best Buy from now on for my electronics.

The Cannon Power Shot is a nice camera. It is very easy to use at a great price. Very happy will the camera.

After reading other reviews, I decided that this was the way to go. The versatility alone is incredible, and I'm just getting started. Takes a beautiful picture with the lens all stretched out. All you need is a steady hand, and I mean steady! (Bought a mono-pod for it, but haven't tried it out yet.) Functions are easy enough to figure out, and the ergonomics are tremendous. You'll like the "gnarled" thumb grip. The only reason I didn't give it a "5" is Canon chinced on a manual and a shoe cover for the light attachment. Keep in mind that the manual is 276 pages! You can find the manual on Canon's website, but that's a butt load of printing. They also make a "cheat sheet", but the print is so small, you can hardly read it. C'mon Canon! Step up! Overall, a great "hybrid" camera. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great all around camera that has incredible zoom. That's the highlight of the camera!

I wanted a high quality, fairly easy to use camera (I didn't want to have to re-learn all the DSLR stuff) with a killer telephoto lens so I can photograph the eagle family in the preserve across the canal from my lanai. I got all that and more in this Canon. After playing with it for a week, I took it to a family wedding to try to get a few pics that the mother of the groom asked me to get. It proved to be lightweight enough to carry around, sharp enough to take really nice closeups from a distance, and the burst is fantastic. But above all, I was able to stand about 15 feet away from my nephew as he played guitar and sang a song--without any shake or fuzziness--just beautiful video with great sound! I was able to get the entire 4+ minute song without messing any of it up!I have since transferred almost 1000 photos from the camera to my laptop with no issues and am in the process of editing them. I'm very happy with all aspects of this camera!

Fabulous camera, definitely good deal to have such featured by that price. With this one I am now retiring a Nikon, an Olympus and a Pentax. Will just keep my pocket-size Sony besides this Canon.

This camera is a nice combination of simplicity and function. The zoom is amazing and the image clarity is impressive. It is easy to operate yet has capabilities that should satisfy most amateur photographers.

This is a nice camera. It takes real good quality pictures. The only complaint I have is that the view finder is really bad. It not clear, rather fuzzy. The view finder does not fit the quality of the camera.

It takes great quality pics. Excellent zoom. It is very comfortable to hold. I'm still learning to use all its features, but I am extremely happy with it. The only down side that I can mention right now, is that when using all the zoom, you have to have a very steady hand or use a tripod to take a perfect pic. and unfortunately, the programs that come in the CD are for mac 10.6 and up, and I have a 10.5.8, so I haven't been able to use them.

Disappointed in the limited aperture range of F3.4 to F6.5 - where is my manual setting of F8-11 when I don't want my background out of focus?

I am headed to rural Ghana for eight weeks this summer, so I knew I wanted a really great camera to take with me. I initially perused both Nikon and Canon DSLR's (I have used a Nikon DSLR in the past), but my friend, who is a pro photographer, steered me towards this camera. She loves her DSLR's, but when she travels, and especially to more remote places like Africa, she uses this camera to take quality photographs. I have not been disappointed. It is lightweight, fairly compact (compared to a DSLR!), and boasts incredible functionality and programming capabilities. The 50X optical zoom is amazing, and has allowed me to capture some truly incredible shots from up close and far away. I cannot wait to explore more of its features as I embark on my trip to Africa!

I love this camera. You can easy use it with auto focus. 3" screen. Optical zoom 30x. Interestingly, you can share you image with friends easily with Wifi were built in. With 12.1MP CMOS, it enough for basic user. this is a VERY nice camera!! We really love it. Very simple to use, but has lots of features! Would recommend it to anyone!

I have a Lumix FZ200. The lens goes from 25 - 600mm f/2.8 all the way. It's great. BUT today, I tried shooting a kingfisher and even at 600mm, the bird was too small. The bird was on the opposite bank of a wide and deep river.So I tried the SX50. Was worried that at 1200mm f/6.5, the images won't be good. I was wrong. Managed to get good shots of a cat even at ASA 200. The bokeh was super creamy for the 1200mmm cat portrait.One reviewer maintained that when you view shots, the lens will retract. Perhaps I'm fortunate - this hasn't happened to me.Downside? Would be great if the Canon could be like the FZ200 with f/2.8 all the way.Of course in a few months. maybe even sooner, I'll gripe that the 1200mm lens is not long enough.18 Jan 13HA, just as I said - was shooting some birds on the way to work today. It's a small bird that hangs upside down. Have no idea what it is - it's blue and yellow with a long curved beak.ANYWAY, the problem is, the bird flits from tree to tree. And the electronic zoom lever gets annoying. A manual zoom (like what Fuji does) would be good because then if you get in too tight, you just turn the ring the other way. With e zoom levers, the focal length kind of jumps, so either you're too tight or too far.SO it's not just about a longer zoom but a zoom that's easy to control.

Unfortunately I ordered this camera thinking it was a lot smaller than it actually was. I was looking for something small to fit in my purse. This camera was almost the same size as my Canon digital SLR camera with the 55 mm. lens. It might be a good camera for someone who wanted a camera that has a good telephoto plus a wide angle without carrying a couple of lenses.

This camera is simply amazing and by far the best camera that I have ever owned.I am even taking photos of birds in trees, which was not the intended purpose.Takes virtually no learning.Only issue is that some times hard to set focus on a small item in a larger view as a mind of its own, but I just need to learn how to do it.
