Takes great pictures, easy to use....you don't need a PHD to operate...I would recommend it to anyone who takes a lot of photos and doesn't want to sink hundreds of dollars in a camera.

He is loving it and finding it easy to use takes great sharp pictures in low light and outside. Compared to his simple nikon cool pics this camera takes much better pictures.

Another home run from Canon ! Packs most of the features that an amatuer would desire in an DSLR along with a 50X zoom, which is perfect for a novice photographer. The auto-focus is the icing on the cake, that takes care of hard to focus far-away objects.Excellent point-n-shoot camera.

Got it because it has a thru the viewfinder feature. Use the flip out often when i hold the camera high to get 'over the crowd' shots. Also love the sport 5 shot burst. Highly recommend this camera.

This is my 3d generation of the Canon's megazooms: SX30, SX40 and now SX50. I keep buying the newer models as each newer one gets much better. This one is no exception. Nobody else has 50x zoom right now. Image stabilization is very impressive - one can even take the 50x shots handheld. Macro is quite good. Processing speed got much faster. I enjoy the adder Raw capability and the shutter release input. I love the menus.Things to improve:*Canon - get rid of the useless viewfinder. It adds bulk and price and delivers nothing.*Stop overwriting the manual settings. Let the photographer make mistakes and learn from them.*Unzooming to find the subject with one click of a button should be done much wider*Make thread for the lens without the adapter.*Articulated display should stay in the next model (g15 was a huge disappointment compared to g12 because the lack of articulated display). It should have a 1000k+ pixels, as opposed to the pathetic 400k+ pixels that the current model has.*Canon - consider making this camera with a little bit larger sensor (maybe call it a differnt model). I know, the lens would have to increase in size, but having the capability to increase the ISO above 100 and not loose quality is very important.*I would like to see image stabilization even better at large zoom and at macro.* Keep the buttons where they were on the previous model. The position and feel of the buttons in this model is much worse than on the previous one.Still, with the items I would like to be changed, this is a great camera! Highly recommend!

My pictures are clear and detailed - as long as the subject doesn't move. Otherwise, the shutter speed will give you blurry pix.

I bought this camera to replace my point and shoot and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Great zoom, great picture quality and shoots great videos too.

I haven't had a chance to really see what this thing can do, but I have been able to play with it a little and I love it. It takes amazing pictures that look crisp and professional. I took video of my daughter's performance and the quality is great!

I planned to buy super zoom camera and was waging in between Panasonic and Canon. After reviews and comparison I decide Canon would be the better candidate. I'm old Panasonic customer and was unpleasantly surprised with their new product. They don't use Leica lenses (at least not on this product) and Canon is superior camera even it is a year older than new Panasonic. Strange and weird.

I had a Nikon p510 for 8 months. then I saw this one in one of my visits to amazon. I also looked at the comparisons on an internet site. I bought it and since then I hardly touch the Nikon camera. it works faster, has a better and bigger battery. the zoom is better. plus the cap pushes out the camera with the lens, not like on the Nikon. in my opinion this one is better than the Nikon p510.

The zoom is so good I had people ask me if I took my moon pictures through a telescope!!!! The cost was good too. I have a Canon T3 rebel and it would have cost 1600 to buy a lens of equal zoom capacity. I love it!!!!

I have taken over 10,000 photos with my camera so far and am still learning how to use it. I have taken some amazing bird shots with it that would have been impossible without spending 100's of $ more.

Which was a waste a money for me.While using the camera in auto mode, the camera takes photos in sports mode (multiple shots) sometimes.

this camera is the leading edge of canon`s territory. we took it on vacation with us. and literally used it as a telescope. and when we wanted, just clicked the photo. great price on camera too.. I recommend this camera, above any slr.

I love that this camera is light weight and not bulky. If you are wanting to take pictures of anything that is moving, or lower light and can't use flash, this is not the camera for you. Even some stills don't come out crisp, or as bright/colorful as the scene you are taking pictures of. Took it to our trip to Hawaii, and I'm disappointed in more pictures then happy with them.

Great camera! The zoom is awesome! I am getting beautiful wildlife pictures with relative ease. Still trying to learn some of the features, but the auto mode is wonderful meanwhile. I'm getting the zoom down, now just need to learn the super close stuff...this is a really fun camera. The battery charges up very quickly too.

Best camera I ever purchased! We bought this camera to take on vacation to the mountains in hopes of capturing the beauty of nature. This camera rocked! In daylight and darkness. The zoom on this camera is unbelieveable and the video feature is second to none. I am an amateur photog with minimum skills but this camera makes me look like I have a lot more talent than I do.

I hesitated for this camera but it is so much easier for travel than the big DSLR with all the lens. Quality is good, it is made in Japan so I trust more in its lasting life.

Low cost, compact, lightweight, takes great photos, and has a 50x optical zoom. What's not to love? Seriously, folks, I'm really impressed with it. I'll try to post some sample photos.

I mainly bought this camera for it's long zoom feature and was excited to use it to compliment my DSLR. Unfortunately, I can never get a good picture out of this camera. Maybe it's just me since I'm used to seeing my DSLR shots, and this is not a DSLR, but nevertheless the image quality is very disappointing for $400. Don't expect to use the zoom and get good quality pics. The more you zoom in the worst it will get, even for optical zoom. They look like they were taken with an old cell phone camera from 10 years ago. Even zoomed out, most shots are slightly blurry. Out of 30 pictures taken, maybe 2 are worth saving. I do like the small physical size, good build quality and feel of the camera, but the image quality is were it matters most, and for me I was disappointed in this model and will be sticking with my DSLR. If you are considering this I would spend just a little bit more and get a DSLR.

This camera has all the features you need unless you are a professional photographer. The zoom is insane and I have taken multiple shots full zoom without a tripod and the pictures have little to no noise. Overall solid camera.
