After owning several Canon point and shoots, I spent a log time reviewing and trying to decide--DSLR vs. a better point and shoot. Realizing I don't photograph anymore the way I did with my trusty old Minolta fully manual film SLR, and that I missed the Canon S3 IS that my husband stole from me for his own use, and that I just didn't want the expense and weight of DSLR's and lenses for the casual stuff I use a camera for nowadays, I opted for this model based on multiple great reviews from many sites on-line. I didn't even bother to take a single picture with it when, after charging the battery and firing it up, I realized that Canon had eliminated a bunch of basic choices in its Scene settings. ie.: landscape, night landscape, landscape with portrait, beach, foliage, etc. Now, I realize that turning the dial to Auto is likely to produce the same type of photo that I would have achieved if I had those scene settings to choose from, but I assume they are there for a reason on the older models, and I wasn't happy that they were gone. I found it disconcerting that they kept fireworks (a setting that will get used once a year) but got rid of landscape, which I bet people use 50% of the time. I traded the camera in the next week for the Nikon P50. I like the Canon for the variable angle screen, ease of use, and being one of the companies that still has a viewfinder.

I am not a pro in cameras.... I was so happy with my canon sd750. But this is not so good as I expected. The pictures are blurry at times. We have to wait for a long time then it clears up... Outdoor pictures are good. No so good at low light.

I love this Canon camera! I plan to take many photo's with this camera! It's not big and bulky, but takes great pictures and has a wonderful zoom.

It was recommended by a professional photographer and it is really the best on a market for its price. Outstanding zoom, a lot of functions, easy to use. I am extremely happy with it.

it's a good Brand, it has a good zoom , it's perfect to go everywhere, maybe in the future I can get a professional, but now I am OK.

WOW great camera for the money! We have been struggling to find a middle of the road camera that can take a wide range of pictures well and this one dose it. So if your a novice parent like myself who wants to take some decent indoor or outdoor pictures of family events in my opinion this is the best deal around. Its not a pro camera, but the features are simple to use, the battery last a long time, it takes quick photos, and it doesn't weigh a million pounds so carrying it around the zoo or sporting events isn't a chore.

Bought this camera as a gift. I received it and realized the camera bag and sd card were missing. So apparently I clicked the wrong place to get free bag and sd card. I was suppose to click a special place to get the free deal...not free if you are getting scammed. Apparently I am not the only one that this happened to! Shame on Amazon!! As for the camera...I havent opened it since it is gift...Amazon needs to get its act together.

I only wish they would have included an operator's manual, not just the manual for the WiFi feature which I most likely will never use.

I received my camera to give for a gift for Christmas and discovered when opened Christmas morning it had no memory card.To me its like buying a car without a motor,very disappointed with canon,and i did not realize when purchasing it did not come with a memory card.After contacting Amazon they are sending the memory card and case with no charge ,cannot ask for more.I would give a new rating of a 4+Thank you Amazon

Easy to use and takes great pictures. 30X zoom brings is object from far way. Takes great pictures in low light conditions without a flash

This was my Christmas gift to ME. I ordered it specifically for the WiFi and because of the Canon quality. It truly lives up to its name. I am very happy that I made this purchase. I tried other cameras, but I should've just stuck with Canon. They're the best!

I love the ease of this camera. I have had a canon rebel for many years but when traveling it is hard changing out lens for different pictures all the time. I take a lot of pictures. Once a friend of mine showed me her pictures from this camera and I knew I wanted it and wasn't going to stop till I got it. Well I too love my Canon PowerShot SX50. Haven't quite gotten the hang of everything but am enjoying learning all about it.

I have this camera and love it. You can zoom in to get a good image of whatever you want and the image stabilisation will help you to take a steady photos of it giving you a 4.5 stop advantage. For macro shots you can go very close (zero distance in fact). Video is good and the image stabilisation helps a lot.I guess with a 50x zoom the camera sensor is not going to be large. In fact, it is a 1/2.3" sensor that is used for most small pocket compact cameras. A sensor that size is not going to give you a great image and the same is true for this camera. You will find yourself reducing the photo size in an image editor to give you a good looking image. For me, that is a definite negative, but all else is good.

This camera is a good buy and very easy to use even for a beginner like me and it takes a good picture which is great to have

This is just what I wanted.We've had a nice little 1000Elph for many years and it has served us well.I'm looking at the Elph130 to replace it sense the screen has issues and the lack of IS. I wanted a better camera so I tried the Rebel T3 with an extra 55-250 lens but that was too much to deal with.This SX50 has it all.It has some bulk but that lens makes it worth it.I read a review that mentioned shooting the moon with it.I've done it twice now, once tonight ,and it's like looking through a telescope.Just standing in the yard shooting with no tri or monopod ,it does it.If you can get a green box around your subject pull the trigger even if you see shake and the I.S. will give you a clean picture.I'm very pleased with the SX50, and I look forward to trying out everything else it can do.I wish I had It along on St John, but there's always Bora Bora.

My husband bought me this for Christmas.I love it! Very easy to use,pictures are very , very, crystal clear.They print out fantastically nice for an amateur like me .I have 2 golden retrievers and I love to get action as well as still photos.This camera does both nicely.

Great camera, great pictures. The wireless sending of pictures to the computer is totally mystifying, but it's easy enough to transfer the pictures via the disk.

Amazing performance for a reasonable price. The zoom is tremendous and the color is bright, clear and focused. Even an old guy like me appreciates the wi-fi! Not just an ordinary point and shot.

This product is nearing the end of it's life cycle and is being sold at a great price point. For less than $250 you can have a camera that takes great pictures right out of the box. If you just want a simple to use camera that takes great photos while being very easy to use then this is your camera. I think that it will really impress anyone moving up from a simple point and shoot while still offering the easy of point and shoot.

A friend of mind had one on a recent trip to Costa Rica. The bird and flower pictures were amazing. Love the 30x zoom.

I returned the original camera to Canon after I found it to have a focus problem with long telephoto shots and had shades of blue instead of black shadows. The replacement sent by Canon works must better and has met my expectations. Don't forget your tripod when you make those long shots. The long lens was a real attribute when we ambled through Yellowstone late last summer.
