Many of the features, as noted in the other reviews, work well, However, the compartment holding the battery and memory card is very difficult to open. The "latch" is so small that it's hard to push and slide to open the compartment. Very frustrating.If you get the gold color camera, as I did, you may find that the icons on the mode selection button are hard to read. The white icon against the gold does not have enough contrast to be easily readable under various conditions. Wish I'd gotten a darker color.The other issue I have with this camera is that a remote control is not available. So, if you're connecting the camera directly to a TV you have no way to fast forward, reverse, etc. There should be a remote available, at least as an accessory.

I bought this camera wanting a small point & shoot that I could carry with me to take videos & photos of my kids. I have a camcorder (Sony HDR-CX500V) for home. I really wanted to like this camera, it has everything I wanted in a camera. I ended up having to return it though due to video mode. Videos were often going in & out of focus and the exposure would change for what seemed to be no reason. Outside did not seem to be too bad but at home it was awful. I tested the video mode in the exact same low light & low movement situation with other cameras that I already own (older Canon SD1000 & Canon S2IS that only do VGA video) & the video was actually worse due to the focus problems. Maybe I received a defective unit? I really purchased this mainly for video, the zoom, & size factor so after finding out the video did not work for me, I didn't really check out it's photo capabilities. I did not have any immediate problems with any other aspect of the camera including the placement of the flash. I realize at this price & for this size of camera everything will not be perfect but I really wanted the videos to be better than my older cameras.

The zoom is wonderful and the camera itself has many good features. It has a solid build and pop up flash. The only problem I have with the camera is the position the pop up flash sits. Once you get used to it however the flash is a non issue. The best way to use this camera is not in the auto position, but rather the adjust the settings and take time to get perfect shots. Great camera overall. I purchased for $200 on black friday.

Well it is great choice and I am very happy with my camera, but few things set clouds over my happiness:Here it is:Cons:Very easy gets dust inside lenses, always use with care, protect and try not shoot when windy.Very easy loses focus when filming.No international coverage of the warranty.In video mode zooming and wind can be heard in the clip. Do not zoom often in quite environment.Almost useless flash, possible it is the worst thing in the camera, it makes handling difficult and when in use under artificial lightning it sets wrong white balance (pictures are yellowish), very short range.Pros:Outstanding good pictures in good light conditions.Great focusing and zoom capabilities.Compact and easy to use (except handling, caused by the pop up flash).Very fast start and ready to shoot.Overall experience is good, but looking for way to get the dust out of the lenses if someone can advise me how (currently abroad).

Still have tons to learn in the operation of this camera but so far It is the most liked camera I own. Once I am more aquainted with the operation, It probably be my only choice. The only problem I have at the moment is I keep putting my finger on the flash door and inhibit it's opening. This is a small design flaw worth getting used to for a camera of this caliber.

I bought this camera and used it for a family vacation to France. I put a premium on mobility and so tend to carry cameras in a pocket (otherwise empty, not with keys, etc.) This hasn't been a problem with previous powershots, but it is with this camera--within a week, detritus had worked its way into the lens mechanism. I know I'll be blamed for not getting a case - and that's true - but the lens also isn't flush with the surrounding metal, and there's lots of moving parts here. (The camera rattles if you shake it gently.) So get a case, and be aware this item isn't all that robust or spontaneity friendly.Picture performance is on par with other point and shoots. At this price-point it's worth thinking carefully how important mega-zoom and video are to you. dSLR really is night-and-day better, and though more money obviously, at this price point you probably are considering saving for one, and I'd think hard about that.Last note: stabilization is pretty good for still pictures, a bit less so on video. I get successful, non-blurry pics at maximum zoom, handheld.

ORDERED THIS CAMERA BASED ON POSITIVE REVIEWS THE FIRST ONE WAS REALLY BAD IT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A CLEAR FOCUS HOPED IT WAS A FLUKE (or lemon) RETURNED IT AND REORDERED THE SECOND ONE IS MARGINALLY BETTER BUT FOCUS IS NOT REALLY CLEAR AND IS INCONSISTENT IN QUALITY SOME FAIR PICS MANY POOR PICS AM RETURNING IT ALSO NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH CANNONS BEFORE WHATS UP ????

This camera is NOT like Canon wants you to believe. It touts the review about the guy that's a professional photographer and can use this camera in place of his SLR or video camera. Do not fall because of these kinds of reviews, this camera dose not come close to ANY modern SLR or HD video camera. Compared to my other Canon cameras (G9 and VIXIA HV30) this camera has a very cheep lens and 14 mega pixels dose not help a crappy lens. You get what you pay for, not what these 5 star reviews say, so beware.

I've been a Canon user for several years, but this little guy pack quite a punch. As always with Canon, the image quality is some of the best, theres some noise at full zoom (mostly into digital zoom) but not nearly as much as some competition. I recently took this camera on vacation to the west coast, we went to some old missions in California, and the low light setting is amazing. Clear and crisp. The in camera editing/art features are fantastic and are fun to play with. The menu was a little different than the ones I've used before, but if you've ever used a Canon you'll get the hang of it. My only complaint is it takes a second to wake up, for example the flash has to charge. I'm not a heavy flash user so it's not a big deal. Battery life is fine, but like I said I don't use the flash very often. Video quality is decent, could be better but that's not what I purchased this camera for. Overall, one of the best.

My teenager loved this camera. it is easy to use, produces great photos, and very fashionable. The color is even better and brighter in person. Great value for the money.

The SX210IS is an impressive camera. I got it because of the 14 to 1 optical zoom. Like any sophisticated camera, it takes time to learn how to take excellent pictures with it. Easy mode works for a lot of situations, put anyone wanting consistently good results will have to learn to use the program mode. I found that taking outdoor shots in easy mode leads to pictures looking flat. Also, you'll have to do some experimentation if you want to properly handle situations where there is light coming from behind the subject. I am not used to the auto focus process where I have to push the button half way to get the auto focus to work. Auto focus can be turned off, but then I have to worry that when I ask someone to take a photograph of me, the picture may not be in focus. I love the video on the camera, but again, the auto focus can be a problem.

I ordered two cameras, this one and the Panasonic ZS7 Lumix, because of the mixed reviews for this camera,. I am returning the Panasonic. For the reviewer who has the obsession with the lens and the shadow, the Lumix has the same lens, in fact I did not find a point and shoot with a good range that did not have a lens that expanded when the camera was turned on.I have used the camera for 4 days now. Very heavily this weekend at a parade, took over 200 photos and have not yet charged the battery.I took photo while walking and they came out great. The image stabilizer performed much better than the Lumix.PROS: Color, great photos indoors and out. Zoom for a point and shoot is amazing. Got lots of comments on the gold color.Cons: Location of the flash, makes the camera hard to hold.Overall very happy I have a camera, with zoom I can put in my purse or pocket. I suggest you go to Flickr and type sx210 in the search field. You will see amazing photos taken with this camera.

This is my first Canon, I have previously owned a Samsung, Sony, and Kodak and I am very impressed with this camera. I was simply looking for a camera with great picture quality and I found it. Video quality is great too. I stay on the auto setting most of the time and it does a good time adjusting everything. Not much to say really except I'm not disappointed and would highly recommend this camera. O yeah, my friends even commented on the quality of my pictures when I uploaded them to facebook!

I've used digital camera before so I knew pretty much what to expect. However, I found the handbook/guide very basic. For a fast start, more detailed "Helps" would have made by new camera more enjoyable.

I recently purchased this camera as a replacement for another Canon camera I had that was stolen. I returned it after using it for 1 night at an outdoor concert. Most of the pictures turned out fine, but so many were blurry and had to be retaken with super steady hands. The zoom is amazing, but zooming that far doesn't make a difference is the pic is blurry. Also, the pop up flash bothered me. I am sure this camera would be fine for someone with more time to dedicate to learning it, but I have used easier and more reliable point and shoots. Recently I bought the Canon waterproof camera and that took easy and all good pictures plus it is waterproof...

This is a great camera for someone who wants great pictures with ease of shooting and all the extras - especially the video option and the smart shooting option so you don't have to guess. Also, the indoor setting gives you great pictures! After buying and using this camera I bought one for my friend and she loves it too.

I wanted to upgrade my camera to one with a good zoom ability. This camera is great. I love the ease of use. I love the size and weight. And I even love the purple color. I think it is a great camera for the money. Would buy it again.

Just got the camera, and so far so good. nice quality photos and innovative features. But it reacts a little slower than I hoped for - my 7 year old Sony is about the same speed - albeit 1/3 the mega pixels. But I'm a little disapointed that a camera touting HDMI output requires me to get cable separately (they include an analog style red/white/yellow cable like what you used with a VCR) So I will have to wait for the accessory cable to arrive to see how my photos and videos look on the 50" plasma. I skipped the canon brand $40 HDMI and ordered a $4 no name brand. Keep in mind this is mini hdmi to hdmi. I jut feel that for the price $329 they could include the cable that takes advantage of HD video and HDMI output offered on this model.BTW my charger is a nice compact unit with a built in plug - nice to avoid yet another charger cable.

It's a good camera... Canon give the confidence of a images with good quality.The battery is a warranty of more duration than the previous modelsThe only con is the difficulty to get a best poor-light photo.

I Recently went on a hiking trip and took photos of some mountain sides on the night setting with a nice moon - photos turned out suprisingly well and I love the 14 megapixel resolution!. I definitely recommend this camera! I previously had an older Canon Digital pwoershot with a much lower resolution and it worked great for a while, but I was in search of a larger higher resolution photos.

Decent Camera with good Picture quality ,Although I could not find this specified in any of the manufacturers information on line, I didsee in the accompanying documentation that Canon recommends the user buy a flash card that is atleast 15mb/s. This is also called a class 4 flash card.

This is exactly what I was looking for, 14 megapixels, 14x zoom, easy to use, nice compact size and great pictures. Lots of options for taking photos in all types of light, huge LCD display screen. It lives up to the Canon name.

At first, we bought this one because, on the paper, it is good at taking steady photos without blurring problem.But when we start to use it, it exceeds all our expectation from this camera.It's a easy to use point-and-shoot camera, but also a SLR camera with many advance functions.The face recognition function works great as advertised.The HD video was really sharp and clear, although the size of file is huge as expected.It can easily take picture of stars at night with 15 sec. exposure time,and many other cool functions.Althoung the location of flash light makes it a little difficult to hold camera,it is a overall great camera.
