I'm so glad I purchased this camera. The zoom is incredible, I love having the HD video. The features are as good as or better than my bigger camera. There are a few downsides, that are minor compared to how great the camera is. My biggest complaint is the battery/SD card door is very difficult to open, and the side door for the USB could provide better clearance for plugging it in. I never thought I'd get a zoom this good in a camera this small.

Pros:- Excellent photos, great lens range, strong camera body.- The sensor captures rich rich tones in my photos.- I wish that the next version will make Wide Angle wider and Zoom Mode deeper, with a the same form factor.- I accidentally dropped this camera from my chest level to the cement floor. The corner metal is a bit dented. But my camera is still working! :D This camera is so strong! Next time I'll be more careful, of course.- You can zoom while taking videos, and the quality is good. Compare this to SD800 IS, where video zoom is fake. SX200 IS Video Zoom is real, direct from the lens.- With a tripod and proper settings, night or low-light photos are glorious.- At last, someone has dedicated a separate "Play" button for viewing photos. You can turn on the camera with this button to view photos, and the lens will not expand.Cons:- Battery indicator still unpredictable, just like more cameras. It's important to have an extra battery.- I wish the aperture can be up to f/2- I wish it the lens range will be expanded further. Make it 18mm Wide Angle, and yet it's 32x Zoom!

I love (nearly everything) about the Canon Powershot SX210 IS. It doesn't take photos in RAW, which isn't a big deal to me. The image stabilization doesn't come even close to as smooth as the stabilization of my Rebel T2I with either the 18-55mm kit lens or the Tamron 18-270mm VC lens in video or still shots, but to compare the 2 is unfair for the compact camera. For what it is and does it's the next best thing when I can't carry a DSLR. Shot to shot speed is on mine quite impressive for a compact, again to compare it to a DSLR is slow, but unfair. Truth is it's used more often than my DSLR cameras because it's so much easier and convienient{SP} to tag along when I'm on the go. The quality of the images is impressive when the proper mode is used and or used in Manual mode, A Pri or S Priority. Video is quite good, but will definitely require tripod at the long end of it's impressive 14x optical zoom. I never use digital zoom on any camera because of both my shaky hands and image degradation, therefore I can't fairly comment on that. Others complain about the pop up flash which activates in all modes, but it's so easy to either hold it down or push it down that it's a non issue. All-in-all I'm very satisfied with my new Canon Powershot SX210 IS. And of course I've purchased many items from Amazon and I'm always impressed with their shipping prices (free mostly) and shipping speed!

I own a d40 with a powerful telephoto lens but frankly it is just a pain in the butt lugging this thing around. i wanted something that was small and convenient yet provided decent pictures. I looked at them all and after much research and checking out things at best buy and the large box stores i decided to return to my local camera shop. The owner showed me the nikon cool pix and this canon sx210is. I played around with both and left to think about it. After two days i went back and bought the canon. I just liked the larger optical zoom lens. WOW. What a surprise. This is one amazing camera. The shots are fantastic and the one thing that i didn't care for, the small telephoto button turned out not to be a problem in the least. I can not believe the quality of the pictures and the ease of use. I haven't picked up my big camera since. I do recommend going to a LOCAL camera shop because they are really there to serve you and have the knowledge and expertise to help you pick out what is best for your needs. The best Buys and similar stores are just unable to provide the expertise needed. I purchased mine at Piepuls Camera Shop in Chicopee, MA and was provided great service by knowledgeable people and did not pay a premium price. this is a great camera that provides outstanding features, class a pictures and it fits in my pocket. at about 1/10th of the price of my big camera. Give it a try. Notice the colors and the quality of the pictures. I just can't understand how they get all these features in this little box. oh, i forgot to mention the feel. It has the feel of a very solid, well made camera and it is actually made in Japan, not some unheard of county. Canon manufactures great cameras that produce great results. It can be a simple point and shoot or a complex unit. the choice is yours.

Just a small and yet effective camera that I enjoyed a lot. I got it on time and have been using it for a while with no problem. Thanks.

It is truly amazing to see what Canon can pack into a relatively compact point and shoot these days. I've had 3 other p/s canon's and wore them all out in extreme outdoor adventures. The SX210IS may be the mighty mouse of them all. More features than any normal quick shooter will ever use but worth reading about all the possibilities when that magic photo moment presents itself and you're brave enough and educated enough to adventure beyond the Auto and Easy settings. I really like the ability to manually and instantly flip the flash up or off to instantly compare a special lighting effect. Could use a more detailed manual. Should come with an 8 mem card. Amazon for an extra battery. For this price you get truly exceptional features which if this little rascal holds up over time equals value and, that for me seals the deal.

I love my camera. I'm still learning some of its tricks so where I gave 4 stars, it may be me not the camera. I don't find it as intuitive to figure out as the Fuji I had, but the quality is much better. I bought it refurbished so that made it in my price range.

What a great little camera! So many features packed into such a small package! This is a great pocket camera with enough features to keep one occupied for a long time to come, and also produces great pictures. The low light feature is especially nice for taking pictures inside without the flash washing the background out. It's a very well rounded camera for the price.

This is an excellent camera for the price, and I'd recommend it to a friend. There are newer models of this camera; however, getting this one saves about $150-$175 over the newer ones. I really liked this camera on paper... but time has proven me wrong.The flash is amazing (though poorly located). it is by far the best feature of this camera... never noticed any shadows as other reviewers tell.what bothers me the most is that half of the pictures I take at night are useless!!! THIS CAMERA CAN'T FOCUS in poor light environments! I hate this! I gave it plenty of chances. Always the same. And if I ask somebody else, who's not acquainted with this issue, to take pictures, I would bet I'll have to delete at least 80% of them.Also the camera is slow... even if you are pressing the shutter half way.I've had sony, panasonic and even canon before. I've always complained on the weakness of the flash. Now that I have a potent flash, the rest of the camera is useless.Oh... and Why oh why can't I choose the image quality on widescreen mode?!?! Who still shoots in 4:3 ???? unbelievable!

I wanted the perfect combination between point-and-shoot and a full-blown SLR. This camera is a little heavier than I expected, and I'm always nervous about moving parts like the motorized retractable lens, but the optical zoom gives me exactly what I wanted to determine wide angle versus 50mm shots without losing resolution. The manual features that allow you to set the shutter speed or the aperture or both is exactly what I wanted. There are a number of automated settings (portraits, landscape, indoor) that look useful, but there's no documentation to say what the settings are or how they are determined. This camera will be a favorite friend over many years if it lasts that long. I think I'll be able to get exactly what I want in a quick shot when I get used to the camera settings for different lightings. It also allows you to set the ISO, but I haven't researched how these words from the old days of film translate to a photon collector. What I remember about my old SLR was that with 400 ISO film I could set the shutter to 1/125 or 1/60 and get a pretty decent photo in low light without blur if I kept steady. We'll see how it works with this one. You can also do tricks like setting the aperture really small and giving a long exposure for something like a sunset, and that way you get the depth of field as well as bring out the red wavelengths if you're on a tripod. Haven't tried the movie yet, but with a 16GB memory it says I can do an hour of video. I don't expect wonders from the micro tho. Haven't tested the batter life. All in all, I'm really pleased.

I bought this camera for my grandmother about 6 months ago (to replace her 35mm) and did a ton of research before doing so. It is such a fabulous camera, I just bought one for myself.When I first purchased it and was "testing" it, I took pictures of the angel on top of our tree from about a 100 feet away. The camera will soom in to 56X, but the picture was not a great quality. I could zoom in on the angels face to about 36X and have a good picture. I have had it for about a week now and have taken about 250 pictures and the battery is still showing fully charges. (The one negative about the battery is that it is larger than the old canons, so you can't use old batteries as a backup) I tried taking a picture in a pitch black room (I could not see my hand 2" in front of my face). The picture came out so perfectly bright, you would not have been able to tell I wasn't standing in a brightly lit room!! I also took pictures with the sun right behind the people, this camera balanced it out and took a perfect picture!I have always been loyal to canon and this is the reason why!! This is the best camera I have ever used!

This a a great general digital camera.Pro's:Price, size, functionality, spec's...Con's:You need to remember the flash which rises up on the LHS of the camera you you would normally hold it with your left hand when you want to take a pic. Once you are use to that then it is ok, but can be annoying in the beginning. Believe the later models have sorted that out, but I cannot confirm that.Suggest if you are interested in this model you visit a dealer and check it out so you are aware of the flash issue, althoough you can lift or push down the flash manually as well.Overall without making a mountain out of the flash position you get a great little camera for a good price.Pixels, zoom capability, manual and auto functions for the price look no further.

I am VERY happy with this camera. I read some negative reviews about the zoom button, but I don't have a problem with it at all. The same is true with the function dial. I have no problems operating this, and find the entire camera super easy to use. This is my fourth camera purchase this year. This, and my original Canon SD780 are my favorites. The only minor thing I don't like is where the built in flash is. I tend to hold onto the camera at that spot, and when the flash is up, I tend to block it with my finger. I'm certain I don't understand this design decision, but it's not that big of a deal to me. I bought this camera because of the 14X zoom, not knowing much about them. I like it very much, but in order to stay steady at 14X, one definately needs a tripod. The movies I've taken have been surprisingly good, with no effort what-so-ever on my part. All in all, I think this is a great camera. Getting the camera, a spare battery and a 4GB SDHC card for under $205.00 from Amazon sealed the deal! I'd do it again. I bought this camera after receiving an email from Canon about the new releases in March and falling in love with the print. I thought, YES! this is exactly what I was looking for. I own 3 Canon cameras and have been a loyal customer for years. Much to my dismay, this camera is disappointing. I should have waited and checked the camera out in the store - hands on. My biggest diappointment is the slow processing time. I have 2 year old twins that I wanted to take close-ups of without always being in their face. I have to wait a total of 4 seconds between each shot before the camera is free to take another. Way too long with children or animals or anything that moves. The Canon tech support suggested I turn off the review, but how would I know if I got the picture I wanted? so that was not a good option for me. The zoom button in my opinion is hard to maneuver. My finger gets sore pressing that tiny, sharp lever. I would not recommend this camera to people who have any kind of arthritis. The zoom is slow, which I would not mind if it wasn't also hard to press. In all fairness, you can get some superb shots with this camera. I took some close-ups in a parade and was happy with most of the pictures. Probably lost some good photo opportunities because of the slow processing time. As hard as it would have been for me, I would have forgone my loyalty to Canon and gone with another name brand like Nikon, but I don't see anything like this out there YET. The bigger zoom cameras are bigger and don't really slip into your purse. I just wish I knew why this camera is so slow in processing? Such a step backwards for such a great company. Knowing what I know now would I still have bought this camera? No way!!! Canon can do better and should do better and probably will do better. I wish I had waited a little longer until they worked the bugs out.

In a nutshell, I bought and returned this item within a week.My previous camera was the Powershot SX200 IS. It was stolen out of my car, so I went for a slight upgrade. I figured 210 has to be better than 200, right? And cheaper. More mega pixels. Bigger zoom. Score...Or not.First off... for a point and click camera, it really expects you to trust the automatic features. For instance, try turning the flash on or off. 3 minutes of menu-hunting, people. The SX200 has a nifty little button right on the back (on, off, auto toggle).From day 1, the auto lens cap on the 210 didn't open entirely, leaving a black vignette on all my photos. I had to remember to push it open with my finger, smudging the lens half the time in the process.The LCD is a joke. It's set to widescreen (I suppose for videos), but because of that it adds black sidebars to your photo previews. This makes the 3" LCD virtually 2". It's a camera, not a video camera. The screen should take preferance to still photos and make them larger. Put the black bars on the video!I'm returning it and getting another SX200 IS before they go completely out of stock. It was a wonderful camera (although slighty bigger/heavier), and I suggest you skip the 210 and do the same.

While this camera has a lot of features that are cool (ie: smile detection), it can't do the basics to a satisfactory level. When taking pictures between 2 and 10 feet, the focus is very poor. I am a professional photographer and I tried many MANY times to get a sharp picture out of this camera within arms length, and could not do it. Even within 5 feet I couldn't not get a sharp photo.They did a good job with the telephoto abilities, and the "extras," but if your camera you're putting out can't focus like it should for basic functioning, it shouldn't be on the market. Shame on you Canon.I got this for my dad after he lost his Canon SD1200 and that camera took far better photos as far as focus goes than this camera, which is $50 more in price.I'd take it back if I could.Splurge for a Nikon P7000 if you want something as good as the excellent quality this camera claims to have, or the SD1200 if you're ok with point and shoot quality.I'll post sample pictures in the examples album as well.

I bought this camera (as did two of my relatives) for two reasons: I gave it to my daughter before she went to Africa (and on a safari) so she could take amazing photos with a pocket size camera, and it didn't disappoint. It has a 14X OPTICAL zoom - rare for a small digital camera! Others were amazed at the zoom capabilities compared to their SLR cameras. I then took it on a trip to Yellowstone, and was thrilled by my photos. Zooming in on black bears made it look like I was standing right in front of them!The second reason was price. When I saw the 'Black Friday' special, I told my relatives and three of us ordered the camera..... I've been watching the price on it since purchasing my daughter's early last summer, and saved over $100 on this one!Only drawback I've experienced is the flash - it pops up right where your left hand would hold the camera. This takes a bit of getting used to, having to change your grip (hopefully in the future Canon will redesign this). This is my 4th digital Canon camera in a row - I'm definitely a fan!

So far this camera is very nice. Still have some time to work with it though to get the full effect. Very easy to use and the photos are wonderful so far.

I like the camera , the HD video but unline my Canon ISUS there is hardly any space ot hold this camera I feel. I think this camera has so many nice features that it is a good buy. Recommend for anyone who wants a compact warrior, the pictures are far superior to an IXUS model

I love this camera. It's a great travel digital camera. While it weighs more than I'd like, the features and performance are pretty amazing. My only frustration is the flash is a little slow when trying to take a quick picture. Sometimes it goes as planned with no issues and then there are those times when the flash doesn't work and the picture doesn't turn out as well. The video feature is beautiful and it turns out with enough light and sound quality that rivals my video camera.The PowerShot does take some great pictures in low or no light that is really impressive. I'm hoping that it's just a learning curve with the flash problems I've had using it and my pictures will just get better as I play more with the pictures.Amazon had the price of the PowerShot about $50 less than the electronic stores and what my credit card was offering using my points. It's a great deal and I am pleased with my purchase.

I bought this and the canon s95. I am a long time Canon owner, having owned the Sd750 for several years and having loved it. Mind you this review is from someone who uses the camera on Auto in Point-and-shoot mode only. The SX210IS simply did not measure up. While zoom is fantastic, pictures came out blurry and night/low light pictures were same as my old SD750. On the other hand, the S95 looked incredible in both day time and especially at night. I figured its more common to take pictures in the evening or night than to need 14x zoom, so I opted to keep the S95 instead. Also the video of the SX210is was surprisingly grainy. I took videos of the same scene with the SX210is and the S95 and my old camera. While the SX210is was marginally better than my old camera, the S95 blew them both away.One last thing, the flash placement is quite irritating. It was hard to hold the camera. While people may get used to it over time, forget about handing the SX210is to other people. No one could hold the camera right! The S95 has a pop-up flash as well, but there is space for your finger at least.

This is a very good camera, an amazing amount of quality in a small container which is good looking. I had seriously looked at the Panasonic Lumix ZS6 and ZS7, but chose the Canon Powershot SX210IS, based on reviews and specs. The picture quality is good, as is the video. Low light pictures are OK. My main problem is that the designers forgot that humans have to hold it. The flash, which rises up when the camera is switched on, is located where the left forefinger naturally holds the camera. Since my forefinger is pressing on top of the flash, the flash does not rise up, and is interpreted by the camera as that I do not wish to use the flash. Since I normally use the flash as a fill-in, I have to pull out the flash manually. This is a continuous nuisance.The camera is small and light, and I am afraid it will slip out from my hands. The small hand strap is liable slip off easily. A longer strap, for hanging around the neck would help.The absence of a print manual just makes the learning that much slower.

The product is good but seems to not exceed expectation but under low lights this is ok but overall a good one.
