Well, I do like this camera, especially the 10x zoom, but one thing about buying stuff on-line is, you don't get to put your hands on anything. I would recommend going to a camera store 1st to check out these cameras before you buy. This one is actually somewhat larger than I had anticipated which for our active lifestyle is very important. Good pictures, especially the video, but I'm not 100% thrilled with it. The problem these days are there are SOOO many to choose from, so I would do your research 1st, check at Amazon's for users reviews, then go "touch" the cameras at the store. I think that will really help in choose the best camera for you.

The photographs are fine. Handling the camera is a bit of a problem for me.
When the neck strap is attached, you cannot hit the Power button easily. However with the strap off, it is heavy and bulky to hold because of all of the batteries. It takes wonderful videos, with incredible sound when you play them back on your computer. But for the price, I think I can live with it happily.

I Decided to upgrade my canon ixus 65 ,and chose the canon ixus 980IS and I am not disapointed, it is a brilliant camera, 14.7 mega pixels gives very good results I have printed photo's a4 size with no loss of quality, Highly delighted,I use a canon printer and canon paper and inks and get exellent results, easy to use camera and you have manual settings if you wish, a nice feature is the viewfinder for sunny days when you can not always see the lcd screen,

If you want a point-and-shoot you will not go wrong withthe A470. It is cheap, durable, convenient, easy to use and the picture quality is, in my view, better than you have a right to expect.

I read a few reviews and I'm impressed by the features of this camera. It's not the smallest camera in the market but I didn't get it because of the size. All other features are just what I needed. One month with the camera and so far I'm really pleased.

The Macro on this camera Rocks! I keep buying new cameras to replace this one, and can't. They don't measure up in the macro. (You use the Macro to shoot small close objects, Food-Toys-Flowers.)
The problem is that this camera is really slow. No one wants to wait for the camera to cycle around before getting to eat their food.
Low Light is non existent. No Shudder Speed Control. I shot approx 6-8k photos between June '07 and May '08. Worked pretty good for party photos. Not so good for sports.
If you can afford more, spend more. If not, you could do worse.
The problem is that this camera is really slow. No one wants to wait for the camera to cycle around before getting to eat their food.

This is a perfect replacement for the CANON IXUS V that I have used for years without any problems at all; it is one big step up in the digital age.
I have quite large hands so I wanted a camera with controls that are easy to use; this is perfect for my large fingers to operate.
I recommend that you order a SanDisk 8GB SDHC Secure Digital Card for a little more storage and a spare battery for long days when you forgot to charge the one in the camera.
This camera will do everything I ask it to do. 10 / 10

This is a very good camera for both beginners, intermediate and advanced users. Canon has given great features in this hybrid camera giving a 10MP and 20X optical zoom. The image stabilization is pretty good and even if you are moving (hands not stiff as well) the picture comes out great. I bought this and have taken 300+ plus photos and except for 10 photos taken in low light this has come really good.
The stitch assist feature is pretty neat, you can take perhaps the grand canyon as a single snap (kidding).
I suggest getting the sony batter charger and battery for this as it can last really long. The .mov files should not bother much and its clarity is also fine.
Overall this is a good camera with loads of features, if only they had reduced the price a bit more to say $330 or so.

This camera offers so many options for the user. I'm able to use the manual settings to satisfy my more creative moments and I can set it to auto when I'm looking to get the quick, no hassel shot. Even handed it over to Mom (hates new tech) to take a few shots and she had very little problems. Still playing with the features, but it's easy to use and menus are easy to navigate. The zoom makes for great printed pics.

I think this a great camera for a photo enthusiast who doesn't want to deal with a bulky DSLR. The 10x zoom is great and the manual controls are great as well. My only complaint is the flash. It takes too long to power-up in between shots. Get some good rechargeable AA batteries, so you don't waste your money on lots of batteries.

GREAT CAMERA BUT HARDER TO USE THAN I THOUGHT YOU CANT JUST POINT AND SHOOT AS IT CANT FOCUS QUICK ENOUGH BUT DOES TAKE VERY GOOD PHOTOS.
I LIKE IT AS IT LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS WELL TOO.

I searched for several weeks using several camera review sites and finally picked this one. It had all the options I like at a great price. Even in low light environments such as at concerts it performed well. Pictures are crystal clear and my only complaint was the charge time for the flash. Takes 6 or 7 seconds to charge for the next shot.

I would rather see the worthiness of the product I bought. The money I paid and the quality of product. So , I never expect to have $1000-camera quality from the machine I paid around $200. Comparing apples to apples.
So, Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Digital Camera is in that sense much better then the cameras in that range.
Nice looking, good quality point-and-shoot type camera which is good/fast/easy for family use.
I recommend this for the people who are not professional photography and would not want this miss the beauty of life.

For this price, this camera is VERY tough to beat! The picture quality is superb. I love to shoot macros and w/ this camera, you can get as close as 1cm from the subject. You have the freedom to change all of the parameters to get the best resolution/quality from this camera. There is only 1 drawback to this camera, and that is that the flash takes a long time to recharge; usually 2-3 seconds. This is really not a problem unless you are trying to take continuous/burst mode shots INDOORS (where the flash might be needed). The flash lag time is NOT a factor if you are taking burst mode shots outdoors. Another recommendation that I can NOT stress enough is that you should get yourself a FAST memory card. I have the Sandisk Etreme III and I can shoot continuous/burst shots one right after the other w/ approximately .8 of a second between shots; AMAZING (considering the price), AND I can shoot burst mode shots until I darned well please. I had a Sony Cybershot prior to this and I was only allowed to shoot 3 burst mode shots. With the Canon SX100IS, I keep my finger depressed on the shutter button for as long as I like, or until the memory is full. There are SO many awesome features about this camera that I can not fully do it justice in this review. Overall, I LOVE this camera. Great features, Solid construction and amazing picture quality. I would recommend this time and time again.

I wanted to buy a camera that would take AA batteries rather than come with rechargeable batteries for 2 reasons. Firstly rechargeable batteries loose their capacity over time & secondly when I go on holiday I dont want to take the charger with me which adds weight. With AA batteries you have the option of buying disposable batteries & just throw them away after using them thus saving you weight on holiday.
The camera itself is very good. Size wise its not the slimmest but for the price its very good. You get 7.1MP for around £70 (what I bought it for from Amazon) The supplied memory card is only 32MB but thats to be expected with any camera you buy. Picture quality is very good for a compact & especially considering the cost. If you really need good quality then you would need an SLR.
Canon is a well known brand when it comes to digital cameras. I gave it 4 stars as I wish it would come with a case which it didnt but thats not a big issue.

Pros: Its made in Japan!, not China, shell feels better than older models.... more zoom, more pixels.
Cons: a little bit heavier.. the plastic that covers the lens its a real problem every time you're taking a picture...

I love this camera. It is a great size, and takes great pictures. The features allow you to adjust flash and shutter speed depending on where you are using it, and the pictures you are taking. In addition, it is a great price. It is easy to download to your computer or photo dock station. This is the camera that the average mom needs.

I love this camera. For an average mom or dad this would be the perfect camera. I use it on auto. Great pics,easy controls. It is a small package,which I think is one of its great features. I like the view finder plus the big LCD screen. The price cant be beat for all of its features.

es impresionante su tecnología de punta y todo lo que puede hacer con esto.
claro que hay mejores cámaras más profesionales pero sin duda esta trae muchas satisfacciones a los que nos gusta la fotografía por afición.

I bought this for my sister -- she's struggled a little, but seems to love it. Her technical skills are some what limited as she has crept into the digital age, but I think this will be a good camera for her in the long run.

This camera replaces an older Canon digital. I wanted a camera with no fancy settings and very easy to use in a small product. I liked the idea of this one using long lasting and cheaper Sanyo Eneloop AA batteries. I will not be printing or blowing up many if any pictures so this 8MP with 4X Zoom more than fits my needs. I primarily use this for E-bay and family shots that I store on discs. While I am still learning how to operate this camera, I do notice that the time it takes to shoot one picture after another does take a bit of time, several seconds. The quality seems to be good and I am happy so far.
