This is a nice and easy to use camera. I love it, I have taken beautiful pictures, I am an amateur taking pictures. I like very much the x10 optical zoom.

Just a recomendation, be very careful when using it it. Two weeks after I bought the camera I drop it, when I asked how much it will cost me to fix it they said it was more expencive than buying a new one, so I had to buy a new one. Few weekss later, I asked a friend if he could try to fix it. In twenty minutes it was working again... Now my husband and I have the same camera.

I've had this camera for a couple of weeks now and am pleased that it exceeds my expectations. I've had a lot of digital cameras and must say that this is probably the best for most purposes.

I like the hybrid cameras. Video is very important to me and the TX1 takes really good HD videos. They look super on an HD TV. The stereo sound is excellent. If you're willing to shoot in the 640x480 mode, you can extend the 10X zoom by either 1.5X or even 1.9X. Stills are excellent, typical Canon image quality.

There were several negatives about the TX1 noted mainly by professional reviewers. Short battery life was one. This was easily cured by purchasing two Lenmar batteries and an extra charger that works in the car for a total of $37 from Amazon. The memory gobbling HD video gets about 30 min on an 8GB card. Sandisk 8gb SDHCs were on sale at Adorama for $33 and I bought several. Handling qualities were knocked by many reviewers. I'll admit that if I try one handed video, including zooming, I have trouble being totally steady. I've decided that this is a two handed camera for video. It's simple to use with one hand when taking stills, though.

To me, the best camera is the one you have with you. I've bought my last camera that will not fit in a shirt pocket. That's the real beauty of the TX1. It's a small camera that you are most likely to have with you when the larger ones are at home on the shelf.

I consider the TX1 to be an excellent camera and a good value. I suggest that anyone considering the TX1 read the user reviews on CNET and other forums. While getting mixed reviews from the pros, most users love this little camera.

The camera is great. my aging eyes can see all the buttons without trouble. The instructions are easy to follow. I had no trouble at all learning how to use it. It eaven makes little mini movies, what fun.

I have owned several Canon Cameras, most recently the Powershot A610 but never seemed to use them as much as I wanted due to the larger size. The Canon Powershot A1000 has the settings and versatility I need in a smaller form.
Now I can keep the camera with me at almost all times and never have to regret missing a great shot.

If you want a professional camera for less, this is your option, the best in the market for begginer and sure for professionals, this is incredible, i love it. Its a bargain...

I didn't like the modes that it had that sometimes darken your pictures. It's a hassle changing these modes. And the modes that don't darken your picture, the blurry shows so you have to hold the camera very steady. There's also a choice of it not being blurry even if you're shaking it, but in that case, the camera is slower to take pics and load, and/or would have to be placed back to darken mode. You can't see full screen pics by setting the view mode to "View All" so it sucks having to see them smaller or you can do the full screen but then it sets to one-by-one.

And the worse part is the batteries. It's what you get for paying cheap for a camera. I had to buy a Duracell battery charger and even duracell can't last that long before I have to charge it again. I end up having to charge it over just for using it a few hours. So it eats up a lot of power from the batteries. In all, it's definitely not the kind of camera I'd stick with me for the rest of my life. In that long time, I might buy a new one soon.

Great product with a fantastic variety of easy to use features. There are also automatic and easy photo modes for those who are more inexperienced with photography. Overall this is an excellent camera for the price, and Cannon's customer service has already proven to be very helpful to me regarding any concerns I had.

When compared to other cameras in this price range, I found this to be the best camera available. I have tried others, and most do not rival the picture quality and versatility of this Powershot A590. This is a definite buy!

Nothing real technical to say here, just that this is a great little camera for not much money. I bought my son one for Christmas and was so impressed that I bought one for myself. It's not overly stylish or fancy but it has the features that count. This is a great beginners camera that allows for some creative options as well. I can't imagine that you could be disappointed with it.

It's a lovely little camera, compact and simple. Just like the rest of the canon powershot series but a few steps better. Great video quality, too. Good manual settings. As it's new, it works very quickly in displaying pictures and taking pictures one after another - hopefully this will last, as in my experience digital cameras work faster when new, no idea why.

We searched the market for the best price and best product and this was the winner - and now after using it for a few weeks I can confirm that it is a GREAT camera, much better than the last one our daughter dropped on the rocks. The zoom is fabulous, the controls are easy to navigate and there are remarkable options for shooting manually to adjust light, apeture and other things I havent had the time to address. I use this camera for casual shooting as well as professional photos of my jewelry and I find it performs fabulously in both respects. I am also impressed with the video capabilities. We have taken some great shorts of our daughter with it.

I saw all of the great reviews and thought I'd buy it - and I'm really glad I did. This camera takes detailed pictures in beautiful color. Very versatile. I'd consider myself a serious enthusiast when it comes to photography. Definitely buy a memory card - they're very reasonable from amazon.

I ended up buying an HP photo printer as well - and it's fabulous. I uploaded a couple of photos I took with the camera.

I've been very happy with the many features of this camera so far. The only let downs have been figuring out the new video format and the flash. Right up super close it seems to be OK. But if you are taking a picture in just a room in the house, you'll want to consider the optional flash upgrade. I have not decided which one I am going to get yet. Thought it was a smoking deal on a camera, but with the flash it is getting to be more spendy.

I spent many weeks trying decide which camera to buy. I can't do anything impulsively. Finally I was deciding between the nikon s10 and canon a630. i was kind of worried about 4X zoom Vs 10X. After much anguish i picked the a630. it is awesome. the 4X zoom is fine with 8mp, i can use digital zoom(ie crop out part of the picture)and the quality is still incredible. It has all kinds of great extras, but i am just going to focus on the important stuff: quick response, a screen and viewfinder, manual mode, video, powerful flash, variable shutter speed. What's best though is the articulated LCD.

At first I thought it was unnecessary that it could swivel and rotate 360 degrees but it is great. While the s10's screen can rotate only vertically in order to take high or low horizontally-oriented shots with ease, it cannot rotate horizontally to easily take vertically oriented shots like the a630. the screen is so great at concerts especially. i can hold it above my head (and the crowd) in the vertical or horizontal position and just point the screen towards me.

Also, i like that it takes 4 AAs so i can just use regular batteries if my rechargables ever run out. i got the Eneloop batteries and so far they are awesome. i got the kingston ultimate 2gb card as well. These help my camera to operate quickly in continuous shooting (burst) mode. I can also adjust the size and resolution to shoot faster. the options available are abundant. i can turn off the sound and adjust anything i want.

I have taken some sweet concert shots with slow shutter speed and also some beautiful shots of flowers in macro mode.

the only things i dislike are: (1) i cant shoot with inverted colors; i would have to invert them after on my computer. (doesnt matter, just would be more fun) (2) There is no dedicated sports mode. I can easily go to manual or shutter speed mode to pick a fast speed, but i just wish it would do this stuff for me. i think this is so i can change other settings as well(ie. shoot in snow mode with fast shutter).

I definitely am pleased with my choice.

I HAVE HAD A SMALL DIGITAL CAMERA BEFORE, BUT IT DID NOT HAVE ZOOM CABILITIES, WAS JUST A POINT AND SHOOT. GOOD FOR ME....ALL THUMBS. THE CANON A590IS IS GREAT! IT IS EASY TO USE, LETS ME TAKES GREAT PICTURES. I CAN TAKE ON MY OWN OR SWITCH TO AUTO. VERY HAPPY WITH MY DECISION TO PURCHASE. YOUR SITE INFO AND DISPLAY OF HOW IT WORKS REALLY HELPED WITH THE CHOICE AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.

This is a poorly designed case, It should be great but it fails epicly. It's basically a knitted sock that should fit your Ixus camera, unfortunately it's about two centimetres too short(for an ixus 960 IS), which means your camera pokes slightly out the top. Normally this would be no biggy, except some genius of industrial design decided it would be trendy to attach the strap to the case with an aluminum carabiner, this attaches inside of the case so the lovely sharp edges of the carabiner can scratch your lcd or lens(personal preference). I've removed the carabiner and just tied the cord to the case.

Ok, maybe this is a little picky for a freebie but it is a pretty shoddy design.

This is one beautiful camera, and at a fantastic price.

I am using a SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 8GB Memory Card, and together they are turning out superb photographs.

I cannot wait to get on holiday.

I purchased this for my daughter for her birthday and she has taken great pictures and video. The video quality is pretty good for a small camera and her pictures are great!

This was an excellent purchase. Good size, easy to use, minimal delay (much better than the majority of digital cameras i've used), and great price. Highly reccomend

Other than being just a bit heavy, this is one great camera... It takes a little time with the manual, but then you figure out a bunch of very cool things you can do, and the photos are wonderful. My wife uses it too, just points and shoots in the auto mode. I recommend it highly.

Thumbwheel w/icons on top are easier for my big fingers, instead of "thumbnailing" small buttons to scroll the LCD menu. Note the optiical stabilization (preferred over digital) and the 4x over usual 3x. I like the idea of AA batteries, being in the woods or on a roadtrip, you can pop in two spares, or buy them most anywhere. What if you left your charger at home? ...And where is the nearest outlet? Consumer Reports, 12/8, top-rated ENERGIZER Ultimate batteries, and the Sanyo LSD eneloop battery & charger kit (at amazon, about $34.00) look interesting. OR,..you could just carry a spare compact-type battery used in most other rechargeable point-and-shoots.

We purchased this camera as a step up from the point and shoot canon that we previously used. We have used this camera in some outdoor shots that have turned into some wonderful pictures. The product manual is a bit imposing but once you start to actually use the camera the photos turn out pretty darn good! I can see taking some photography classes in the near future in order to get the most out of this camera. It is a great buy!
