I ended up buying an HP photo printer as well - and it's fabulous. I uploaded a couple of photos I took with the camera.

At first I thought it was unnecessary that it could swivel and rotate 360 degrees but it is great. While the s10's screen can rotate only vertically in order to take high or low horizontally-oriented shots with ease, it cannot rotate horizontally to easily take vertically oriented shots like the a630. the screen is so great at concerts especially. i can hold it above my head (and the crowd) in the vertical or horizontal position and just point the screen towards me.
Also, i like that it takes 4 AAs so i can just use regular batteries if my rechargables ever run out. i got the Eneloop batteries and so far they are awesome. i got the kingston ultimate 2gb card as well. These help my camera to operate quickly in continuous shooting (burst) mode. I can also adjust the size and resolution to shoot faster. the options available are abundant. i can turn off the sound and adjust anything i want.
I have taken some sweet concert shots with slow shutter speed and also some beautiful shots of flowers in macro mode.
the only things i dislike are: (1) i cant shoot with inverted colors; i would have to invert them after on my computer. (doesnt matter, just would be more fun) (2) There is no dedicated sports mode. I can easily go to manual or shutter speed mode to pick a fast speed, but i just wish it would do this stuff for me. i think this is so i can change other settings as well(ie. shoot in snow mode with fast shutter).
I definitely am pleased with my choice.

Ok, maybe this is a little picky for a freebie but it is a pretty shoddy design.

I am using a SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 8GB Memory Card, and together they are turning out superb photographs.
I cannot wait to get on holiday.
Look no further!!

I decided to try a cheap compact (£56) that can easily be carried in the pocket and is ready to go in seconds. The name is pretty re assuring - its a Canon, so you would expect high standards. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. This camera can take stunning photos. It even has a macro facility that allows you to focus within an inch or so of the subject.
With a 2Gig memory card for around £10, you can take and store around 700 photos. I have seen nothing that comes close to the quality of the photos that this can take for less than £200 or so - even on point and shoot auto setting.
As with all smaller cameras, there are limits, but for most users, this ticks all the boxes. There are many features that can be explored, but for most folks will buy this for 'point and shoot' photograhy and will not be dis-appointed. 5 M pixels allows superb A4 reproductions. For most users this is more than enough. I doubt even 1 in 1000 users have ever needed a photo larger than that. Don't be fooled into thinking more pixels equates to a better camera.
While small overall and pocket sized, it is thicker than many newer models, but with a width of about 40mm its still not too large. Why pay many times this price to get more Mpixels and 10mm thinner?
I suspect the Minolta will be up for sale soon!

sometime later windows made me sick again and one day i had a format and installed ubuntu.
first thing i plugged my camera, and there you go. ubuntu immediately recognized it and run its own image import program.
"working out of box in ubuntu" is enough for me to love an item and i love this camera.

Great camera.

It works wonderfully. The zoom is great, clearity is great, easy to use,
large display. Great Great Great!!!

Only complaint is the power adapter is not adaptable to other Canon models. Why they can't make 1 fits all is beyond me. This trait is not only Cannon cameras but Nikon & Olympus. Its like they want to keep you buying more equipment!!

In testing it out I've found that the camera's normal color saturation setting is a little lower than I like it to be, but you're able to adjust the color saturation to your own preference, so with Vivid, I'm producing lovely photos.
I'm also so impressed with the number and power of features. The camera can sense its orientation and adjusts the display when you turn it sideways. It also uses this orientation sensor to record which side of an image is the real top... with this camera, it's virtually impossible to take a picture that needs to be manually rotated after shooting.
Similarly, I wanted to test the in-camera red eye correction feature, but found that the anti-red-eye feature is so good I couldn't intentionally take a photo with red eyes... believe me I tried.
The image stabilization feature works incredibly well. I shook the camera intentionally to test it, and it still took a photo that was sharp and unblurred. This feature would be very useful in dark settings or for people whose hands shake.
The level of detail on the photos is stunning. And all the pre-set shooting settings are fun to test: Kids & Pets, Beach, Indoor, Snow, Fireworks, etc. The movies are also really sharp and detailed, and the sound excellent -- who needs a stand-alone video camera?
