I already have a SLR digital Rebel, but it is too big to carry to some places. So I was looking for something small, light and with enough features to keep me, a SLR buff, interested.

My wife wanted a sleeker, colorful and tiny camera. I felt that we needed a more jack of all trades model. So I looked for a good optical zoom (10x), and as much manual features as possible. I ended up with three cameras: a Sony, a Canon and a Panasonic. It didn't take much testing to see that Canon was superior in every aspect.

The menus are simpler than Sony's. The physical buttons are better placed and bigger than Panasonic's. The only thing that I will miss is to have wider lens. Both Sony and Panasonic have wider angles, good for that classic auto-photo with your friends in a club.

Other than that... My god. This camera is amazing. I didn't need the manual to figure the commands out. Everything is where it is supposed to be. You just navigate and the commands just appear in context of what you are selecting. So, if you are in full auto, you won't find controls for Manual Focus and flash. But if you change to other programs, these options are there.

The manual commands are great. The manual focus is almost perfect and the ISO options work perfectly. I prefer the way they built the flash: it does not open automatically when the camera needs it. It asks you to open. I hate when the flashes keep popping and opening without my consent. And also it is one more feature to break somewhere down the line. I like the idea of just opening the flash myself.

In the end. It is a little bigger than the models my wife wanted, but being an amateur photographer herself she didn't need much time to see that, for a few fractions of inches more, we had a better deal.

Oh. I almost forgot. The biggest problem, really, is the downtime between shots. These cameras need to be faster. It makes me crazy when I need to take a shot and I just have to wait while the microprocessor is working. Come on, guys. You can make it better.

Other than the speed issues... Great package. Amazing colors and lens. Almost perfect camera.

This is a great camera for those who aren't looking for a camera to take action pictures in low light.I only say that as the flash takes so long to get ready you might miss your next shot. Picture quality is great!You couldn't ask for better pictures.I personally love this cammera so far, but then I've only had it for a month so I might find other things I don't like. Oh and as with all digital cameras, use rechargeable batteries as this one goes through them like all the rest.I think that for an everyday shooter, you can't ask for a better camera for the money.So I recommend this camera to anyone who needs a camera for that purpose which is why I bought it myself.

I have had this camera for a month and I really like it. Although I am still learning how to use it, so far it has been great. I like the zoom distance as we are going to be doing a lot of traveling in the near future and it will come in handy. It has a lot of features that I am not use to but most of the ones I looked at have more than the average person would ever need. It is a little heavy but I rigged up a hand hold to steady it pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to mess with changing lenses all the time.

I have an a620 I bought in January, 2006 and paid approx $325 dollars for it even way back then. Anybody who would spend this price ($699) for the a620 obviously has no idea of the real price of cameras are on the market, and would be taken big time on this one. Google in the a620 and you will see the real price of this camera.

You can buy the Canon Digital Rebel XSi SLR 12 mega pixel camera for a lot less than this point and shoot camera....Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black). The a620 is a great camera at 7.1 mega pixels, but it isn't worth no $700. (Unless you just don't care what you spend) Don't be taken!! I've seen nothing that tells me that there are optional accessories included on the a620.

I really like this camera. It is easy to use, takes great pictures, and has plenty of zoom. I looked at so many cameras before purchasing this one. This one had the best features and quality of all the cameras in this price range. I was really impressed with the quality of the video it produced, as I didn't expect very much from a digital camera.

I am glad I got a camera with a view finder as I have found on very sunny days at the ballfield, the LCD can be a little difficult to see details of what you are capturing. The viewfinder, though, shows you enough of what you are shooting and comes in handy.

The night scene mode really is a blessing as I have taken night shots with and without this mode, and it makes such a huge difference in night photography.

Speed is not an issue as well. I took a picture of my son jumping into the pool and I caught him just as he was entering the water. There was relatively no blur and it looks as if he is standing on top of the water!
I also took pictures of him throwing a baseball and there was no blur in those photos as well.

Again, this camera exceeded my expectations and I doubt that anyone would be disappointed in purchasing this camera. Plus it's hard to go wrong with Canon's quality.

I bought this camera and it never was as good as my last Canon (A630). The processing time is 10-15 seconds in between each photo shot which is horrible when taking pictures of children. The quality of the video was grainy too. I returned this camera and instead bought another Canon (SX 110 IS) for $100 more. It was worth the extra money as the processing is faster and the video quality is clearer.

Bought this camera as a present for my girlfriend, great little point and shoot and since then I've ended up taking it on trips with me because it's smaller than my Canon. Works great with iPhoto, and seems to do really well with battery life. ++ from me!

I already love the Canon digital cameras, but this one is the best I've seen so far. I wouldn't want any other camera in this price range. The only thing I would change about the camera is the flash. It doesn't pop up automatically when needed, you have to manually raise it. Otherwise I love everything else about the camera. The Canon Powershot SX110IS digital camera takes great pictures. I would suggest this camera to anyone, even to a first time buyer.

I bought this camera 2 weeks ago and it is just amazing. It is my and my husband's first digital camera and we couldn't be more pleased. It takes the most amazing photos, sharp and crystal clear, and is so simple to use when on automatic. Anyone can take great photos with this camera. I read all the reviews here and on internet camera sites and Consumer Reports and everyone had excellant things to say about the camera. I wanted one of those tiny cameras, but when I went to the store and tried them, found that they were ackward to handle and didn't have anywhere near the zoom that this one has. It is small enough to fit into a coat or pant pocket easily. I like that it uses 2 AA batteries. I went through about 180 photos with the original batteries and am now using rechargables (Sony). Our friends bought the same camera after we did and they use lithium batteries and have over 500 photos on the first set of batteries. They love the camera too. Do go out and buy a bigger memory card as the one that comes with the camera doesn't hold many photos. Using the cables to connect to the computer was easy to do and downloading the photos simple as well. We are in our Mid 50's and early 70's and still found it easy to do. This really is a great camera for everyone. My husband plans to learn how to use all the "extras" that the camera can do, but I'm more than happy with just using automatic and letting the camera do all the work. I would and have recommended this camera to many others and would buy it again tomorrow. A great camera at a very good price.

I bought this camera to take photos of some collectible items for a magazine. The camera is simple enough to figure out straight out of the box, but has numerous features that make this camera great for most situations.
I don recommend that you read the book to get a better understanding of the uses and you will need to buy a stronger flash if you plan on taking photos that require the camera lighting from more than 20feet away.

We bought this camera for our 12 year old son this year because he loves using ours and he also loves making silly videos, so we thought about getting a kids cam for him at first, but the reviews for them were horrible, so we checked all over Amazon and found this one to have the best overall rating. I have to say that everyone was right on target with this one. I'm not a camra geek or a professional photographer, but this is a really nice camera, even for an adult. It takes great pics in the dark and obviously in the light. The video quality is nice and I like that it doesn't have a "swing" out view window that could possibly be broken off. I gave this camera a 5* because it's just an awesome well made camera for just about anyone.

If your looking for a reasonably priced camera with some bells and whistles than this one is for you. I have taken this camera and have shot some close ups and I would like to say they came out beautiful.I love the auto mode as well as the face tracking.The red eye reduction works and we all know how we hate the red eye.. This 8MP camera is great for beginners as well as intermediate.I am very pleased and recommend.

Cons: This is a Great Camera.. Zoom is Excellent, Clear Great pictures...

Pros: Battery Latch is difficult... im scared it will eventually break.

Bought this for myself for Christmas this year- got it at a great price and got a 25$ gift certificate with it too- takes amazing pictures and rocks at videos- just needed something so that I could send pictures of my kids to my parents and was shocked to get such an awesome camera out of it. One of my favorite things is that the video function isn't on a timer like my old camera, so as long as I have memory space open I can keep recording- put a 8 gig mem card in there and I can record for quite a while, in fact my batteries gave out first lol. The quality is great, its sturdy, and is an all around great camera.

Quick delivery! I'm still learning how to navigate the menu options. It's very different from from Kodak Easy Share, which seemed more user friendly. Love the video option.

I bought an E1 for myself earlier this year and absolutely love it. The portability, solid construction, fast power up, quality of shots, ease of use, and the ability to shoot video as well as stills made this model an excellent choice as a college graduation gift for my niece.

Before my new Canon SX10IS camera I had a small digital. There is no comparison. We were just at the beach for a week and I could zoom in on boats out in the Gulf of Mexico so clearly you could read the name of the ship. When you put it into macro you are zooming in at 80x when at full zoom! It is wonderful! I am only 1/3 thru the instruction manual and can not believe what all this camera can do. I would recommend it 100%!

I recently bought this camera to replace a Samsung model I had. I have to say that so far I have been impressed. This Canon is easy to use, has a much fast reaction time between shots, and great picture quality. I've used the video function on it, and my husband asked if I had use our video camera! I don't know why people think it's so loud...I just turned off the volume, and therefor makes no noise. I love that it is easy turn the flash on and off. This little camera, is easily worth the money, and what's not to love when it performs well, and comes with such a sweet price tag?

This camera is pretty nice for the price. It is really easy to use too, even for my father, who has never owned a camera before. The only problem is the battery cover is not easy to open.
