If you're not looking for a high quality Android tablet with tons of apps and lots of power, and are only looking for a perfectly sized screen to read books and watch videos, then this is the tablet for you.The screen is great quality so videos and books look splendid. Netflix runs smoothly as does YouTube, so when it comes to that aspect this tablet definitely doesn't disappoint. It's also the perfect size, at least in my opinion, for reading books, which is does well.All-in-all, it doesn't have everything, but with what it does have it performs spectacularly.

This is a great tablet with so many great features. You can expand its applications beyond just those on Barnes and Noble in six minutes by just downloading two files directly into the tablet and following some very simple steps. As other reviewers have noted, this runs on android and brings those added features by just doing a little bit of research online.The screen resolution on this device is awesome and the fact it has additional storage capacity only sweetens the deal. I have downloaded music, movies, apps and books and can keep going since I do not have the space limitations that other similar devices have. This is a true portable device you can enjoy outside of wi-fi and cell phone range.Having the best of both worlds (Android & Barnes & Noble) is a plus since books are abundant in B&N and the children's books are pretty cool, interactive, vivid and provide great reading experience for kids; while Android provides all the games and apps available elsewhere.Surfing the web on this device is something that is not flaunted by B&N, but compared to others tablets, this is much faster than most and in par with some of the good ones out there. I was impressed, only because I was not expecting much from this tablet in this area. I like the desktop mode, but that is a feature you will need to dig deep to find in the options features.Overall, great tablet and very glad I chose this over others I was considering.

My kids love this tablet and even fight over it. I just wish it were a little more kid-proof because I'm worried about them breaking it but it is very good quality.

purchased with screen protector and a spare charger, I was charged for 2-for-1 specials and received one of everything. Advertised the ability to add applications from other than B&N, first automatic update disables this. Might not be so bad if their walled garden economic model was viable but the product was rushed out before the garden was planted. It is impossible to sort choices by avg customer rating so you have to wade through it all which is thankfully meager. There is supposedly an advantage in that you can visit any B&N brick and mortar store and the staff will gladly help you, they are cheerful but in the end not very helpful. After suffering through a common problem of the micro SD card getting stuck after two weeks of minimal use I asked to exchange it and was told to send it in at my expense and that it would take a minimum of 3-4 weeks. There are no advantages to purchasing from one of their stores, the removeable storage that distinguishes it from others is a problem and with customer service like this they should be out of business soon. It is a shame because the hardware does have potential, huge gaps between potential and promises, promises made and delivered. Business majors will shortly be studying this as an example of how not to introduce a product.

It is a great item for regular books, but can not be used for college textbooks which was the reason I bought it. Also, if you a nuts about apps, don't get this gadget.

I have used several different 7 inch tablets. The best I used was the Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus. This is a less expensive tablet and very, very good. But rooting the Nook Tablet made it great.That is a fairly easy thing to do with a bit of patience and reading. There are step-by-step videos on how to do this and links to necessary files. All you need to get you started is Google "root Nook Tablet". Yes, when it is rooted it does void the Nook Tablet warranty, but it can be unrooted without problems.The screen is beautiful, it is fast and with the micro SD card slot, has plenty of room for storage. I bought my 16gb for $229. A great tablet for the price and I use it every day. Great purchase.The Galaxy Tabs are noted for audio quality and, of course, have some features that can be useful. But the Nook Tablet is mighty fine and a great investment for the price.

I have to say I love shopping on Amazon. It's addictive and always cheaper than stores. One of the best things is the ability to read uncensored reviews of products before deciding whether/what to buy. You have to decide between Nook, Fire, and iPad when shopping for a tablet. It really depends on what you want to do with it. I like the NT best because it's way cheaper than the grossly overpriced iPad and way faster with twice the storage than the Fire. I hear other devices have more and better apps than B&N but I wouldn't know. Every app thing others do on their phones and tablets I do faster and easier on my laptop. I use my Nook for casual entertainment lounging around: web browsing, Pandora, ebooks, Netflix, Pulse. Pandora and Pulse are awesome on the Nook. Also for streaming video on a tablet I think you really need a Nook.

Okay this is definitely a cheap way to get a new computer but there are hidden expenses if you don't do any research. First off you really want to buy the $50 SD pre-programmed card so that you have access to other apps that are not available in this product in its original form. Once that is done you have a great computer that meets most of your simple computer needs. Don't throw out your old computer though.I had this tablet less than a year when I discovered a fairly well hidden issue. It has an irreplaceable battery. Stupid I was that I didn't see this as an issue when doing my research. I have learned a lot in a year. I will buy a cheap tablet next time and throw it away when it becomes obsolete in less than a year. At 320 bucks this was not a cheap tablet. My friend just bought one for 69 bucks and it does everything mine does.

i got a 16gb microsd off of amazon for under $14.00 and it holds just little over 8k books, it was what swayed be over the kindle fire, that and the 1gb of ram vs 512mb. Now that they released a 8gb nook for $199.00 its price point is on par with the fire, and has the option of expansion, and a simple hack allows for a custom android launcher, and i can easily install the amazon app store(and kindle app), android market place, and have a very decent wifi tablet, tbh i wasn't much of a analog book reader, but with this little nook tablet i've been averaging a book a week, along with .99-1.99 monthly magazine subscriptions.when the original nook first came out i purchased one and took it back 2hrs later, it was less then what i expected, but i think barnes and noble has come a long way and now this version is very impressive.battery life is decent, depending on your screen brightness preference and netflix usage, unless i am at home, i usually have the screen brightness at little less then half, and wifi off, and get about 6-9hrs of nonstop read time, 3 days of casual reading/standby.

You would be crazy to buy here... its cheaper anywhere else. UPDATE I see amazon is now selling at the same price as the rest of the world so I retract...Also discovered another negative... When browsing the web the nook works fine on all sites EXCEPT AMAZON, now fancy that. It will stay on amazon about 30 seconds then pop back to where ever I was before web browsing. I've tried it over and over does it every time.Thanks to all who commented about the ability to still root the nook. it is more complicated now but doable. I'm debating about giving it a try. Updated 1/22/12There are things to like about the nook, BUTNo android marketB&N wants your credit card to download FREE apps - ain't gonna happenstuff that is free on Android Market cost money at the B&N app store. I.E. Angry Birds costs 2.99 but is free from Android Market.I bought this Nook because it was root-able... but no longer with the latest update B&N blocks attempt to root the device.BOO HISS ON B&N.I never buy anything Apple because of the closed system. I totally believe in Open architecture for electronic devices. The closed system ONLY benefits the seller not the user.If all you want is a reader, email and the web. then hey go for it. but I truly disappointed and may return it.

B&N locked the Nook Tablet since beginning of January to remove sideloading of apps and such. If you were hesitant to purchase one because of that, don't be. I was real dissapointed they did that so I found a way to root mine and now I am running Go launcher along side the B&N interface. I have full access to the android market for tablets and can download and install any apps I want. I voided the warranty by doing this, but If I had not been able to unlock it's full potential I would ahve brought it back anyway, so no loss here. As long as it's rooted to allow install and modification as you want this becomes a much better device than the Kindle Fire. The hardware, look, and feel is superior. It was the B&N bloatware and restrictions that were holding it back. Now that I have access to other book sites like Touchybooks (which are way cheaper than B&N books) I am really enjoying this with my kid and wife. I also can access cloud services now which means I am streaming my music from Google Music service while I read. That I really love.The only issue I have found so far is when my kid plays the Talking Ben dog app there is no sound, but that is beyond what this is supposed to do so thats not bad.

My Nook Tablet and I are inseparable! Everything that entertains and informs me all in my coat pocket.If it's comes down to whether you should buy a Kindle Fire or a Nook Tablet, Nook clearly wins. Yes, it's 50 bucks more but it's 50 dollars well spent. The Nook has more memory and a faster processor than the Fire. In real end-user terms that means you get the responsive light touch and quick displays iPad users know so well. Kindle Fire doesn't quite cut it.Most important (and I don't know why this isn't a no-brainer)you can store all your pics, docs, music and books on the Nook itself. The Fire requires a constant connection to the Internet. If you travel around enough or ride commuter trains, you know you're not always going to find wi-fi everywhere you go. A fat lot of good having my books out on the "cloud" when there's no wi-fi around.But here's the best part of all. You can plug in Micro-SD card that will boot up the Nook into a full Android tablet. That gives you access to the thousands of apps on the Android Market -- including Amazon's Kindle app. Now you have all the advantages of the par $500 -- $600 range tablets at half the price! Don't worry about voiding your warranty. Just take the SD card out and it reverts back instantly to the Nook Tablet you bought.

The Nook was disappointing for me. What really kills it is the operating system. It is based on Android but it doesn't resemble android at all. Your home screen is limited to a bookshelf and the app selection is pathetic; not even a Facebook app! There are almost no apps at all and the ones that are there you almost always have to pay for. It is great for reading magazines and books, however, and it is really easy to purchase content from Barnes and Noble. As far as the hardware is concerned it is okay. The screen is nice, but the body feels a little cheap. It doesn't have a camera or gps. Overall I would say that this is a good ebook reader but its not good for anything else. The Blackberry Playbook is a superior tablet and it is in the same price range as the Nook.

I consider myself a well educated electronics purchaser who did a lot of homework over getting the kindle fire or the nook tablet. Being a tech geek, I decided to go with the nook because of its superior specs and the fact that I prefer the nook reading experience better than the kindle one. After doing my homework and playing with the tablet in the store I felt I made the right decision until I got it home.The nook market absolutley ruins this thing to the point I am looking to root it. There are next to zero free apps and despite already knowing that the tablet would not honor the apps I already own in the android market for my phone, I never expected in a million years that APPS THAT ARE NORMALLY FREE IN THE ANDROID MARKET ARE OVERPRICED EXTENSIVELY. For example, Angry birds seasons is free on android market. Its $3!!!!!! on the nook app market. This is rape.And if you are expecting to root this device, it appears barnes and noble is aggressively patching their device to disallow the use of outside apps.If you want to read books only, get the nook color or an e-ink device. If you want a tablet, This will only frustrate you. I feel violated and disappointed I overlooked the pricing on the market.

There are several things I enjoy about this tablet. The fact that it's easy to use right out of the box, that it has good connection speed, doesn't require a 3g plan, and what I've tried to do has worked pretty well. However, there is a lot left to be desired especially in the way of apps. Admittedly, I have been spoiled by Apple's wide app variety on my ipod touch, but I have noticed a scarcity of apps for very common and popular programs that irritates me. For example, youtube: one can get on youtube from the web browser, but it lacks the usability of an app on a tablet device. Skype is another. I contacted support and was told that the tablet did not support skype because "it doesn't have a built in camera."I understand that this is a new product and much is still being developed, but the Nook has a long way to go before it has the range and depth to fully satisfy. These are only two examples of several programs I've found lacking with this tablet. Frankly, had I realized the paucity of apps even for hugely popular programs, I would not have purchased this product. And if this issue isn't corrected, I will not be purchasing another Nook product.

...for heavens sake. First thing first, to those reading this, contemplating if you should make a comparison between iPad or Nook Tablet, don't even bother. Hands down we ALL know that the iPad will win the case. If your main purpose is to get an ebook and browse the internet, then you can read on.I was at a store and bought it after I touched, felt and browsed on the web with this. The main purpose of of me even looking at this tablet AND Kindle Fire was to find a device that I can read and surf the net. I have an iPhone and do not need an expensive device of the iPad to do the same function as my phone.I decided to get the Nook Tablet as the internet browses a little faster than the Kindle Fire. Maybe it was love at first sight, who knows.Since I am not an IT person and did not buy this device to download apps and games, I like the Nook Tablet. It serves the purpose of me being able to read magazines in color (just like the real magazine), buy books online and read childrens books to my baby. Youtube and Netflix work fine without a hitch...so no complains.I did not mind paying $60 more than the Kindle Fire and have not regret my decision in getting the Nook Tablet.

This is my first tablet. I can see it is not perfect but it basically does about everything I need to do. It seems like every tablet has its pluses and minuses. I like the highlighting in multiple colors on this one. My primary intent in the tablet was for reading.

I needed a personal computer for a trip that I took but did not have a laptop. The nook fit that bill just fine, and I could read, or listen to some audio programs at the airport during lay overs. Hotel had free wifi that allowed me to keep up to date on email, weather back home, etc. It is very light and portable, so that's why I got this one for myself. Love it!

I asked for B & N gift cards for christmas to purchase this. Boy was that a mistake since now I'm stuck with it or $250 in B&N credit - neither of which I want. Wish I had realized you could only purchase B&N overpriced books and apps (which are free elsewhere and very limited). This was a question we even asked at the store and the guy said all the book prices are set and the same everywhere. This is completely untrue. I tried to check out ebooks from the local library and was unable to do that either. There was this whole big process with downloading some adobe and having to put the book on a computer and then on the nook. I gave up after about 20 min of trying. Wish I would've bought the kindle fire or an ipad and simplified my life. And what happens if B&N goes out of business like Borders? Then the device is useless since it's only meant for B&N products. Also look here for accurate reviews if you're interested in purchasing the nook tablet. B&N is screening the reviews and wouldn't post mine.
