Not having a lot of cash but needing a tablet type of device, this fits the bill. I haven't tricked it out yet so it works with kindle library but I will do so. Seller shipped super fast and item was solidly packaged!

First learn about modifying the nook tablet. You can buy or create yourself a sd card with a custom ROM on it. Doing this lets you bypass the BN OS because the nook looks at the sd card first when booting up, it also keeps the nook OS stock and BN can do all the firmware updates they want to do without affecting the SD Card ROM. With a custom ROM you can install apps or read ebooks not offered by BN i. e. kindle books. I love my NT and learned to make it do more than be an ereader, yet still have a stock ereader by swapping to a blank sd card. Let your Nook Tablet be an Android Tablet without the restrictions of BN's poor customer service. I'm as computer knowledgeable as a rock and was able to learn how to do this in about 4 hours of reading google. Just google. nook tablet xda

You'll be buying a new battery within 18 months. Even when my Nook was new it didn't live up to the hi-pa of a long lasting battery charge, now I have to read plugged in. If you go on a camping trip of a few days, take a paper book!!! I've order a new bigger battery we'll see if I can actual get the new battery in without breaking the reader (you have to take the reader a part to change the battery, see YouTube). B&N doesn't care batteries for their Nooks either, what's up with that!!!!

The nook tablet is great.I have used it to check e-mail,browse and look at books,and also transferred one from my p.c.I like the way it will sync with the direction its rotated,and I love the touch screen.Thanks Amazon!

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Through my 1 click settings, I accidentally placed an order for 2. I never opened the second nook, I kept it in the shipping box to show it was never tampered with. They said I could return, but because it didn't come back to them within 2 weeks, they denied the return and told me I need to figure a way to get it back myself. As a manager myself, I KNOW that is very POOR customer service. There are many places to chose from and this one doesn't have anything special that stands out about them. I suggest ANYONE else! Don't waste your time on this company. If you end up having an issue, the service you receive will likely be unsatisfactory. Hope this review helps!

Its a cool little tool at first - nice to watch netflix, but beyond that? As an e-reader, its not quite entirely useless but pretty close as the selection at the BN store is pretty restricted and the damned thing doesn't like 3rd party apps. A friend of mine got it for a Christmas present at a work drawing - he passed it on to me. I'm invested with like maybe $25 worth of books or I'd dump it out the door. For Free, its not bad. For $100 (what I paid for it) it's not quite as good as my 4S - just a bigger screen is all. For full price - don't bother. Spend the $$ on a real tablet - because this ISN'T a tablet, it's an e-reader with useless apps no one wants and kiddie games. You get better service going to the County Library and using their computers or dance with your trackball on the Blackberry. NOT a good buy.

My wife got me a Nook Tablet 16 GB for Christmas and I'm stilled thrilled to have a nice sized device for web browsing, watching Netflix, and Flash videos on the web. I was really interested in an iPad, but always balked at the price and not a fan of iTunes syncing or using iTunes on my PC at all. I have an iPhone 4 for my job and I was no longer all that excited about Apple's app store and all the dedicated apps that seem to offer stripped down versions of the web sites, games, or programs that I really want to use on a larger screen. The Nook Tablet is a great little device, sized just fine for what I use it for and the price is better compared to the iPad. I really don't read a lot of e-books or e-magazines, but when I do read them on the Nook Tablet, it's a nice experience, but I still prefer physical books and magazines. It plays MP3s and up to 1080p videos just fine, but like I mentioned, I'm not a fan of having to plug the device into my PC to sideload content or load media onto a memory card (though it's really nice that the Nook has a micro SD slot). If you're looking for a device for web-browsing, Netflix-watching, and Scrabble (pretty much the only game that I want play on it), then this is a great device. B&N is still at a disadvantage with a pretty limited app selection compared to Google Play and Amazon's app store and of course Apple's App Store, but after being enamored with my work phone (iPhone 4) for about six months, I'm over the apps and much happier with the Nook Tablet's larger screen, with the 1 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, there's plenty of power for my casual web browsing and video watching at home.

I bought 2 of these, one for mom and one for my sister for christmas. I took them home and with the help of xda and indirectx i rooted them to run the android market. i installed live wallpapers and i loaded them up with apps and it ran pretty good for a temperary solution. I then bought one for my self and rooted it. When christmas came around my moms nook updated itself while starting up and she lost everything. Barnes and Noble however have designed then unit to be downgraded back to a previous firmware which is awesome. currently all 3 units are rooted.My unit however has clockwork mod installed and i have cyanogenmod 7 (gingerbread 2.3.4) running and really i have absolutly zero problems. my device runs tegra 3 games such and pinball hd and shadowgun. dead space also runs on this device. currently bluetooth is not enabled but when it is i will be able to play emulator games on a 7 inch screen with a wiimote. Every zenonia game runs, all version of angry birds run, plants vs zombies runs. i also have thumb keyboard and swype.One Con is no camera. obviously software modification cannot create a camera. realistically other than video chat who wants to carry around a 7 inch+camera when cell phones take better pictures and are far more portable. One other thing is after installing the mod you do lose bn funtionality the solution is to install a dictionary, install moon+ reader and the bn app to buy books.Hardware is generally agreed apon as being unrivaled. Now with standard android software running this tablet is not much different then the 400+dollar tablets. I would recommend this tablet to anyone who is interested in a tablet that will do anything.Read before you return. I read the product reviews and decided I wanted it. I purchased and received promptly. The Nook works great and even came with a cover as a surprise. I did not think charger was good so when I checked with seller they immediately said they would send another which they did. Nook Tablet works fine and seller was a real gem.

Overall I love it. Works as if it were brand new. No screen damage. Only noticeable damage are a few small scrapes and scratches on the frame but nothing substantial to ruin it. Very satisfied with the Nook!

I received my new Nook Tablet today, charged it, and with great anticipation went to find my favorite magazine, The Economist. I found it in the App Store as expected, but found no way to access it without buying it again... I have a print subscription that gives me full access to the digital edition on the iPhone/iPad, Android, and even on the Blackberry. I called tech support for help and was told that, even though this is an Android device, the standard Android Apps have been disabled. I was told that I would have to buy a duplicate subscription through the B&N store if I want to read The Economist on my Nook. It seemed like an absurd statement, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. To my astonishment he made, with an apparently straight face, the same absurd statement.That's the end of my relationship with B&N.

If you want an e-reader, get an e-reader - the battery dies in a few hours (or a couple, depending on brightness settings). If you want a tablet, get a tablet. There are far better options for a similar price. If all you want to do is read magazines and buy a few apps, fine. But this thing is truly lacking. I've owned mine for 6 months, and haven't changed my mind about it yet.UPDATE: The product gets even worse with age. It will not fully charge, ever, and at 15% it goes crazy. It runs all sorts of apps, closes them, types things into the browser, and won't let you use the tablet at all. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is unacceptable. 15% should still be enough to read for a bit, rather than going psycho and taking over the device.

Word of warning...you only get 1 GB of free space for non B&N purchases. If you have a large collection of eBooks, songs or movies, you simply can't get them on.

I would give it a -10 stars if I could. Customer Support/Tech Support is horrible. You go to India and get the standard script read to you. My Tablet was damaged and had to be shipped in for refund which I had to pay the cost of shipping, per post office tracking they received the tablet on September 28th. I called on October 5th..they said they didn't have it, the 10th called back and "Arjay" assured me a refund would be issued within 24 hours and she would send me a confirmation email. I called again today the 12th because I did not receive an email to see if refund had been issued and was told that a refund will be issued in the next 1 or 2 billings cycles which is 1-2 months. Every time I called I have to talk to 3 or 4 different people all of whom are confused. It is horrible to purchase a device...find out it is defective and have to wait up to 3 months for a refund. Horrible...I will never buy anything from B&N again!!!!

Bottom line, I am a grandma. A real grandma. I got the Nook as a gift because I read a lot. I enjoy it tremendously for books, magazines, newspapers. Games too. But, the charger and cord ARE JUNK. Total junk. I am into buying two at a time now. I don't jump up and down, just sit in my recliner. The plug end (mini usb) is the worst. My husband has used glue, electrical tape, and whatever to salvage this most recent one. Poor poor quality on the charger and cord. There has to be a better way.

I got my Nook Tablet 16gb for christmas. I love it! Its display is one of the most advanced in the world, it has pleanty of storage, ultra-fast Wi-Fi, and many other great fetures! its wonderful HD display makes it very ideal for moviee, videos, and apps. It comes preloaded with Netflix and HuluPlus, plus there are ways to put your DVD's onto it. It has the largest bookstore (around 2.8 million and counting) and an app store (several thousand and counting) that is just HUMONGO! The app store isn't as big as Apple, but its shurly a runner up! Get it! Its worth the money!

I have a nexus 7, however I wanted a tablet just for my books and newspapers. This is prefect for me. For those who want to separate your reading from the other tech devices you have plus I made a investment in Barnes & Noble books and magazines. This is the way to go.

now im not entirely disappointed but i got an 8GB Nook when i clearly ordered a 16GB. i dont know if there was an error but the box says 16GB and the Nook itself only has 8GB. other than this problem, which will be solved by a 32 micro SD card, the product was really nice and in good packaging. so ill leave it with a 3.5 star rating.

I was excited to finally have a tablet, but it wouldn't work. I tried the initial set-up and the device would not pick-up any WiFi signals! I took the device to a Barnes and Noble store and they couldn't get it to work either!

It's been said in countless reviews on Amazon - the NOOK Tablet really is worthless, unless you are willing to "root" it. This allows the user to take advantage of the NOOK's android operating system, which brings a lot of android/google apps into play. Otherwise, you will be handcuffed by B&N and the extremely limited add-ons that they offer. Bottom line - if you are looking for an eReader with tablet capabilities, stay away from the NOOK.

It was a birthday gift for my 20 yr old son. He is a computer nut & did a lot of research on the notebooks out there. He decide on this one for it's memory capabilities, color & overall price. He loves it. I'm considering getting one for myself.

If all you want is a tablet for reading B&N books and periodicals and maybe playing the occasional cheesy game, this is for you. Otherwise, pass.This is listed as an Android tablet but it's not. It's Android on the surface but it can't access Google Play and instead uses the B&N app store. This means paying for apps that are free elsewhere.Also, my unit takes an incredibly slow 2 minutes to boot, drops wireless signals that are strong and includes a browser that has the speed of a 90s drug store computer.Wonder where the camera is? It's at the factory -- there isn't one. Forget Skype or face to face video chatting.Spend your $200 on a real tablet.By the way, not a slap at Amazon, just the tablet itself.

Now, I love the NOOK. After I changed it to an Android System. Bought "AndroidForNook 32GB Jelly Bean Dual-Boot". Tons of free Apps now! You can buy 8 ~ 16 ~ 32 GB cards for the change. And, you download "Nook for Android" (through Google Play) then you have all the books, etc... that you purchased on NOOK!! It's the best of both worlds, then. Just do it - It's so much better!!

The Nook is a very nice tablet. You can view lots of information on it. It is easy to read books with the bright, clear screen. You can also listen to music and view movies and tv shows. A great machine!

The overall product is awesome! I love it, it's portable, it's easily accessible, and I can access normal webpages like I can on a computer as long as there's wifi. Only thing that caused it to lose a star is that the charger/USB that comes with it is very flimsy. It's easily breakable and they have yet to get back to me on a replacement charger. Also you cannot use any other USB even if it fits the tablet, it must be the USB specially made to fit the Nook tablet. Although other USBs can be used to transfer data.

I've had this product since christmas. It took awhile to decide between this and the kindle fire and frankly i wish i had paid more attention to the reviews. i use this primarily to read, borrowing books from the library, and it is a pain to have to download books to my computer and transfer them to the nook via usb. i bought a tablet so i wouldn't have to use a full computer as much, but here i am still tethered to it. and there are apps out there such as overdrive that would allow direct download over wifi that b&n refuse to approve and make available through their app store. which brings me to the second thing i don't like about the nook, and that is b&n's restrictive, north korean closed society attitude toward outside apps. what a pity b&n chooses not to embrace the full android community. think of what might have been! i have no problem surfing the web, and it also works well and looks good watching video from netflix. my wife has a kindle fire and it is a pleasure to just go to the library site, choose a book, and have it load wirelessly without any fuss over external computers and wires. b&n-open your doors and join the rest of the word.

Item arrived on time. Screen displays books, apps, movies with clarity. The interactive e-books are great the children enjoy reading. I haven't tried the magazines yet. The color nook has a lot of nice features. I'm very happy I purchased the item.

I have the original Nook and I had to use a night light when I read at night. This one has a light to read by. I bought this Nook because the author Jude Devereaux does v-books and you have to have a Nook color or HD to buy the book.

I got my Nook Tablet about two weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. I barely use my laptop anymore. I use my laptop for word processing and storing documents but for surfing the web, checking emails and watching movies/tv, I prefer my Nook. I've hardly had time to use it for reading books. It does work great for reading, especially at night. I have also used the free trials on several magazines. The magazines look great.The apps are sufficient for me. There definitely isn't a huge selection compared to android smart phones but there are plenty for me and they seem to be increasing on a regular basis. I also wouldn't mind having a camera for scanning. I have found some quality games and activity apps for my kids and a several for me.The video playback with Netflix is great. The screen is excellent. I was really surprised to see how clear and crisp it is. It's also really easy to view the screen from an angle. So if someone else is holding the Nook it's still easily seen from the side.The kids books I've tried are a lot of fun. My kids love the interactive aspects and the ability to record and hear themselves reading (usually in a silly way).It's easy to navigate. My five-year-old son can already make his way to the apps and videos fairly well.I have no complaints yet. It has exceeded my expectations, especially considering the price.

I gave it to my daughter on Christmas, and even the the nook worked good, she did notice there was a nick out of the edge of it, and asked me if it was a used one.... which it wasn't.

Not as big as I would like, but functions and streams perfectly. I particularly enjoyed using it on a recent trip, easy to fit into my purse, and no trouble at all accessing wifi in airports.

My kids love this tablet and even fight over it. I just wish it were a little more kid-proof because I'm worried about them breaking it but it is very good quality.
