I own the original Nook e-ink reader and the Nook tablet. I have been happy with both. When I read all the wonderful reviews about the Nook HD+ I couldn't wait to buy one. The main reason that I bought the reader is that my vision has deteriorated over the years to where I need at least 16 point type. The availability of different sized type on the reader devices is very welcome. I use the tablet, not only for reading, but to watch Netflix movies while on my exercise bike. The Nook tablet works okay for that, but the larger display of the HD+ seemed that it would be an improvement. However, there are several problems with the current edition:There needed to be at least one more font size at the high-end. I had to choose between too small and too large.The sound level was too low, even with headphones. I could not find a Barnes and Noble application to provide better control over the volume. There are a number of third-party applications which used to work on the Nook tablet that are now locked out by the current OS version.So, in spite of the beautiful display, I reluctantly returned the HD+ to my local store. When planning future upgrades. I would advise Barnes & Noble to consider the needs of older customers and people with disabilities. We are not an insignificant market segment.

I bought this item for my sister as a gift. From the time she received it, they've become inseparable. She'd owned one prior to this one, but it didn't have the features this one has, I.e, music and movies. She loves it. Has thanked me innumerable times. Thank you for such a quality product.

I didn't know that it didn't have android or Google. I have to buy all apps. Other than this my son enjoy it. Also theres no customer service.

I love my nook, it does everything I need and more. It is the perfect size for me and I can load more than just B&N books. Libary books and even personal adobe documents can be loaded to the device. It is great!

I read all the reviews and decided to buy this Barnes and Noble Nook for my Grandson for Christmas it was used but with original box and accesories through EZ CORPS!!! And I'm happy to say this Barnes and Noble is the best I ever invested in the picture and color is beautiful. Let's put it this way my niece that has the kindle was checking out the Barnes and Noble nook and compared it to her kindle said that the Barnes and Noble Nook has a clear picture than her kindle and more apps!!! And I told her I did my homework and looked this Nook up and it had the best reputation as far as for a kid,Young teen, Best nook ever invested in money and used at that but I will only order used if the item says like New with original Box with Accesories . And I will only order anything used through EZ CORPS!! Best company to ever order anything from on Amazon fast professional customer service and love there shipping and handling !! And there all there used products are tested before selling which is a plus. I would Highly recommend this company any day to any one , Friends,Family,etc,Yes this Barnes & Noble Nook is well worth ordering used or new. Thank you Kristen Cates.

I received this item and it is defective. It keeps deleting all of my books, photos and resetting itself to factory settings. As well as not connecting to the internet, while all of my other wireless devises connect this one fails to. When contacting the seller, BuyAccessories, they told me I am SOL. They are not willing to help me in anyway. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THROUGH BUYACCESSORIES! I don not recommend purchasing though them because if you have a problem, they will not help you.

This model is discontinued , thought I was buying a new product .. Can't find accessories no place even difficult on line too ... No varity of accessories at all ... Should have been listed it was outdated model . Unit works fine though

Now I have like four different kendels and I am such a Fan. My darling Daughter n law requested this. No way, says I. Then I see these reconditioned ones with a warranty, cases n protective films, new chargers and 16 gb HD. Had to get it or her. Only cause she gave me the worlds best gran babies ...and I guess I love her like mad too.

My wife has had a Nook tablet for 1-1/2 years. The battery has gone bad and the unit is out of warranty.Barnes and Noble has informed me the battery is not replacable and the only option I have is to purchase another Nook Tablet at full retail price. Apparently Barnes and Noble considers this a disposable device.I would investigate other tablets before making this purchase.I would not recommend any of Barnes and Nobles Tablets.

The Nook Tablet itself might be a fine product. My brief encounter with the actual tablet exceeded my initial expectations. However, I was told the great point of difference about the Nook versus other tablets was the customer service. Unfortunately, after having my Nook less than 24 hours, I learned of several issues. I reached out to customer service. I started with chat. After being fed automated responses that didn't answer my questions, the chat session abruptly ended after 1 hour for no reason at all. I then sent my questions via email. I was again met with automated responses. Sixteen days later and they still haven't answered any of my questions. I then called. I was told to seek out my answer via the web because they were experiencing too many calls. I opted to wait. Guess how long the wait was? About 30 seconds. This deemed promising. However, the person who took the call didn't seem to know much about the product. I finally conceded and asked to return the product. I followed their very detailed guidelines on returning a product. However, the product (which was sent via certified mail and signed for at the appropriate destination which they do not dispute) seems to have been lost in space. I have yet to receive a refund. And, after multiple phone calls, chat, tweets, emails, etc. I imagine my only recourse at this point will be to file something with the Better Business Bureau. For those who live within 5-minutes of a Barnes and Noble, perhaps the Nook is the way to go. Overall, the tablet worked great if you recognize the memory it touts is really limited to Barnes and Noble stuff and the amount of proprietary gunk they have on the tablet limits you from using it as a true tablet. Basically, it is a hyped up version of an e-reader for those who only want to shop Barnes and Noble. This is ok, as long as you know that's what you are getting. But, for anyone who wants customer service and can't make it to a store regularly, don't count on any support. Don't count on anyone being helpful. Don't count on anyone doing anything other than sending you automated responses that may or may not address your issue. This is really too bad. But it is honest. I rarely complain about a product. But, when a company is this incompetent one must be honest. And, when a company touts that the number one point of difference is customer service and the service is this horrific, well I think that speaks for itself.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday after trying it out in BN and seeing how amazingly responsive it is. I did a lot of research and put a lot of thought into it, almost buying him a kindle fire because I thought it was more "manly" looking. After much consideration and comparison of hardware, I opted to get this one. The big selling point for me the fact that it can boot from the SD card. I have seen the N2A (Nook2Android) SD cards here on Amazon and wanted him to have that functionality but didn't want to pay that much for one, so I did some googling and figured out how to make one myself. I purchased a 16GB micro SD card and in about an hour and a half, had the thing booting to CM7 from the SD card, and now it has full tablet functionality. It runs AWESOME, super smooth and very responsive, full tablet capabilities including running 3rd party apps and access to the google play store, and all without rooting or voiding the warranty. All he has to do to put it back to stock is remove the SD card (which he never does! It is pretty much useless in its stock form unless you only do light web browsing and read ebooks) My husband LOVES it and couldn't be happier with it. He uses it every day. The only thing it doesn't have that I consider a negative is a camera. MY tablet (Acer Picasso) has a camera and I do actually use it quite a bit, but my husband says he wouldn't use one on a tablet so it doesn't bother him anyway. He also dowloaded Kingsoft Office and now uses this for work as well. Unbeatable hardware at an unbeatable price.... and don't let the restrictive stock software stop you from buying it... just go around it!!!

Initially I was happy with my Nook Tablet. I downloaded some of my pdf files, setup my email (disappointed with the very limited email app), got on the web (another disappointment - very basic), and then I looked at the apps selection of the B&N store. Where's the beef? An Android device and only a few limited apps available? But then I found an option that was available to download third party apps, which made everything ok, since there are so many available online.A couple days later I discovered that an automatic update had disabled the capability of third party apps. I was beyond disappointed, now I was getting angry. An Android OS should allow you to run thousands of apps! But not with Barnes & Noble's greedy palms! The Nook became "their" tablet, and not mine. It was now restricted to only "their" apps and downloads. Period.*IF* they (B&N) were to offer tons of apps & downloads for little or nothing, that would be acceptable. Read some of the other reviews - you'll find that the tablet is nothing more than a B&N display device now, not a true tablet. You can't even share apps or music that was purchased for another Android device. The ONLY way you can use it for free is by viewing the supported files you can copy from your computer to the Nook (documents, pictures, songs). And if any of those files are large, it struggles to display them.There are over 50,000 Android apps available online, but none of those are available to Nook users.Since this is no longer a true Android tablet that I can use the software I want to use it has lost all it's appeal. Better to get a 'real' tablet than this device. Pass the word around. And there's no chance B&N will change things now; they don't care.We are extremely displeased and cannot recommend this tablet to others.

Not having a lot of cash but needing a tablet type of device, this fits the bill. I haven't tricked it out yet so it works with kindle library but I will do so. Seller shipped super fast and item was solidly packaged!

First learn about modifying the nook tablet. You can buy or create yourself a sd card with a custom ROM on it. Doing this lets you bypass the BN OS because the nook looks at the sd card first when booting up, it also keeps the nook OS stock and BN can do all the firmware updates they want to do without affecting the SD Card ROM. With a custom ROM you can install apps or read ebooks not offered by BN i. e. kindle books. I love my NT and learned to make it do more than be an ereader, yet still have a stock ereader by swapping to a blank sd card. Let your Nook Tablet be an Android Tablet without the restrictions of BN's poor customer service. I'm as computer knowledgeable as a rock and was able to learn how to do this in about 4 hours of reading google. Just google. nook tablet xda

You'll be buying a new battery within 18 months. Even when my Nook was new it didn't live up to the hi-pa of a long lasting battery charge, now I have to read plugged in. If you go on a camping trip of a few days, take a paper book!!! I've order a new bigger battery we'll see if I can actual get the new battery in without breaking the reader (you have to take the reader a part to change the battery, see YouTube). B&N doesn't care batteries for their Nooks either, what's up with that!!!!

The nook tablet is great.I have used it to check e-mail,browse and look at books,and also transferred one from my p.c.I like the way it will sync with the direction its rotated,and I love the touch screen.Thanks Amazon!

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Through my 1 click settings, I accidentally placed an order for 2. I never opened the second nook, I kept it in the shipping box to show it was never tampered with. They said I could return, but because it didn't come back to them within 2 weeks, they denied the return and told me I need to figure a way to get it back myself. As a manager myself, I KNOW that is very POOR customer service. There are many places to chose from and this one doesn't have anything special that stands out about them. I suggest ANYONE else! Don't waste your time on this company. If you end up having an issue, the service you receive will likely be unsatisfactory. Hope this review helps!

Its a cool little tool at first - nice to watch netflix, but beyond that? As an e-reader, its not quite entirely useless but pretty close as the selection at the BN store is pretty restricted and the damned thing doesn't like 3rd party apps. A friend of mine got it for a Christmas present at a work drawing - he passed it on to me. I'm invested with like maybe $25 worth of books or I'd dump it out the door. For Free, its not bad. For $100 (what I paid for it) it's not quite as good as my 4S - just a bigger screen is all. For full price - don't bother. Spend the $$ on a real tablet - because this ISN'T a tablet, it's an e-reader with useless apps no one wants and kiddie games. You get better service going to the County Library and using their computers or dance with your trackball on the Blackberry. NOT a good buy.

I have had the nook color, and the nook tablet. I upgraded to the tablet and can't tell any difference. The Customer Service with Barnes and Knoble have limited hours. When I upgraded all my books I had paid for did not transfer to my tablet, and Customer Service told me I had to update my credit card information before I could get all the books I had previously purchased downloaded on my new unit. I protested to customer service that it was not relevent that I updated my information on items that were already paid for. To get all the items I had previously purchased I had to update my information. I was disappointed that many of the books offered from Amazon were not available on the nook so I purchased a Kindle Fire. The Kindle was priced lower, the sample readings of a book are larger, the screens change smother, and I greatly prefer it to the nooks and after being a customer with Amazon many years, I know that I can count on Amazon to have superior customer service. I purchase all my books now on the Kindle and recommend to everyone to choose Kindle over the nook.

The nook tablet is junk. If you don't have a case it will shattered. If you want to repair it you can't. Because Barnes and noble doesn't have it so that you can get it fix. I hope they change in the next 5 years. Do Not Waste 150.00 on a nook.It IS FOR SOME PEOPLE BUT NOT ME!

My wife got me a Nook Tablet 16 GB for Christmas and I'm stilled thrilled to have a nice sized device for web browsing, watching Netflix, and Flash videos on the web. I was really interested in an iPad, but always balked at the price and not a fan of iTunes syncing or using iTunes on my PC at all. I have an iPhone 4 for my job and I was no longer all that excited about Apple's app store and all the dedicated apps that seem to offer stripped down versions of the web sites, games, or programs that I really want to use on a larger screen. The Nook Tablet is a great little device, sized just fine for what I use it for and the price is better compared to the iPad. I really don't read a lot of e-books or e-magazines, but when I do read them on the Nook Tablet, it's a nice experience, but I still prefer physical books and magazines. It plays MP3s and up to 1080p videos just fine, but like I mentioned, I'm not a fan of having to plug the device into my PC to sideload content or load media onto a memory card (though it's really nice that the Nook has a micro SD slot). If you're looking for a device for web-browsing, Netflix-watching, and Scrabble (pretty much the only game that I want play on it), then this is a great device. B&N is still at a disadvantage with a pretty limited app selection compared to Google Play and Amazon's app store and of course Apple's App Store, but after being enamored with my work phone (iPhone 4) for about six months, I'm over the apps and much happier with the Nook Tablet's larger screen, with the 1 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, there's plenty of power for my casual web browsing and video watching at home.

I bought 2 of these, one for mom and one for my sister for christmas. I took them home and with the help of xda and indirectx i rooted them to run the android market. i installed live wallpapers and i loaded them up with apps and it ran pretty good for a temperary solution. I then bought one for my self and rooted it. When christmas came around my moms nook updated itself while starting up and she lost everything. Barnes and Noble however have designed then unit to be downgraded back to a previous firmware which is awesome. currently all 3 units are rooted.My unit however has clockwork mod installed and i have cyanogenmod 7 (gingerbread 2.3.4) running and really i have absolutly zero problems. my device runs tegra 3 games such and pinball hd and shadowgun. dead space also runs on this device. currently bluetooth is not enabled but when it is i will be able to play emulator games on a 7 inch screen with a wiimote. Every zenonia game runs, all version of angry birds run, plants vs zombies runs. i also have thumb keyboard and swype.One Con is no camera. obviously software modification cannot create a camera. realistically other than video chat who wants to carry around a 7 inch+camera when cell phones take better pictures and are far more portable. One other thing is after installing the mod you do lose bn funtionality the solution is to install a dictionary, install moon+ reader and the bn app to buy books.Hardware is generally agreed apon as being unrivaled. Now with standard android software running this tablet is not much different then the 400+dollar tablets. I would recommend this tablet to anyone who is interested in a tablet that will do anything.Read before you return.
