It's been said in countless reviews on Amazon - the NOOK Tablet really is worthless, unless you are willing to "root" it. This allows the user to take advantage of the NOOK's android operating system, which brings a lot of android/google apps into play. Otherwise, you will be handcuffed by B&N and the extremely limited add-ons that they offer. Bottom line - if you are looking for an eReader with tablet capabilities, stay away from the NOOK.

I got the Nook HD+ because for the money it's flat out the best Tablet/e-reader.It's the lightest,best screen comprabable to the ipad.And to all the reviewers who have stated how limited the app garden is you are correct very limited.But be advised the tablet is only 3 weeks old,it will have a lot more apps soon,it is running on a B&N version of ICS.So a little patience and enjoy all your wishes will be granted.B&N has done so in the past with its other products.Remeber the Nook color didn't have netflix avaliable when first released and the Nook tablet did,well the was fixed and now its avaliable on both.

It was a birthday gift for my 20 yr old son. He is a computer nut & did a lot of research on the notebooks out there. He decide on this one for it's memory capabilities, color & overall price. He loves it. I'm considering getting one for myself.

This past Christmas I purchased my teenaged niece a Nook. She was ecstatic when she opened her present. She was able to use it right out of the box to read books and do her social networking. Over the holiday vacation, I noticed how she rarely sat it down. I showed her how to set up her B&N account and how to download apps. After doing this I realized that it was time for me to upgrade from my original Nook to a Nook tablet . . . I LOVE IT!!!If you are looking for an iPad, this isn't the device for you . . . only an iPad is an iPad. However, if you want a nice affordable tablet that is easy to use for social networking, listening to music, watching movies, playing game apps, reading books, looking up things on the internet, and LIGHT productivity (after you download the Quick Office app) this is what you want. I purchased a little MP3 speaker and 16gb sd card from Amazon to boost the sound and increase storage.I have found that I use my work and personal laptops less, because the Nook is more convenient to carry around and use. It is also more comfortable to type on than my smart phone. The Nook easily fits into most of my purses . . . even with with the cover I purchased for it. An added bonus is that it keeps my 7-year old occupied during long drives, while shopping, or when sitting in waiting rooms for appointments. He can read the interactive books or play with the educational apps that I have downloaded for him.Finally, I talked to my niece over the phone recently. She has started college classes. She told me that she still loves her Nook and uses it daily.

If all you want is a tablet for reading B&N books and periodicals and maybe playing the occasional cheesy game, this is for you. Otherwise, pass.This is listed as an Android tablet but it's not. It's Android on the surface but it can't access Google Play and instead uses the B&N app store. This means paying for apps that are free elsewhere.Also, my unit takes an incredibly slow 2 minutes to boot, drops wireless signals that are strong and includes a browser that has the speed of a 90s drug store computer.Wonder where the camera is? It's at the factory -- there isn't one. Forget Skype or face to face video chatting.Spend your $200 on a real tablet.By the way, not a slap at Amazon, just the tablet itself.

Now, I love the NOOK. After I changed it to an Android System. Bought "AndroidForNook 32GB Jelly Bean Dual-Boot". Tons of free Apps now! You can buy 8 ~ 16 ~ 32 GB cards for the change. And, you download "Nook for Android" (through Google Play) then you have all the books, etc... that you purchased on NOOK!! It's the best of both worlds, then. Just do it - It's so much better!!

The Nook is a very nice tablet. You can view lots of information on it. It is easy to read books with the bright, clear screen. You can also listen to music and view movies and tv shows. A great machine!

Our second Nook in the Family!!! We love our Nooks! Read books, magazines, newspaper, check out library books, recipes on internet right in my kitchen, games, my Bible readings with all different commentaries, e-mail,anything on the web!

The overall product is awesome! I love it, it's portable, it's easily accessible, and I can access normal webpages like I can on a computer as long as there's wifi. Only thing that caused it to lose a star is that the charger/USB that comes with it is very flimsy. It's easily breakable and they have yet to get back to me on a replacement charger. Also you cannot use any other USB even if it fits the tablet, it must be the USB specially made to fit the Nook tablet. Although other USBs can be used to transfer data.

Nice specs with nice screen. Not worth the price with just the stock operating system, might as well save the bucks and buy the cheaper color model. You cannot use the larger 16gb internal memory to load your own files as the bad boys at B&N restricts your access to only 1gb of that memory. UPDATE: Because of the unhappy owners B&N will relax this restriction when you take the unit into their store and reserved space will be changed so you get 8gb free space.As is, the unit is SEVERELY crippled from making full use of its outstanding specs. Turn this baby into a great Android tablet by "rooting" it - easily and painlessly done by buying one of those SD card based kits. I got a 32 GB card with the root kit and I now have full access to Android apps with the ability to revert back to stock is if desired. You can now get all these capabilities on a really good performing tablet for well under $130 (like new used) but remember you get a unit that's a generation old and doesn't have bluetooth, gps, and hdmi out like most other newer tablets have.

I've had this product since christmas. It took awhile to decide between this and the kindle fire and frankly i wish i had paid more attention to the reviews. i use this primarily to read, borrowing books from the library, and it is a pain to have to download books to my computer and transfer them to the nook via usb. i bought a tablet so i wouldn't have to use a full computer as much, but here i am still tethered to it. and there are apps out there such as overdrive that would allow direct download over wifi that b&n refuse to approve and make available through their app store. which brings me to the second thing i don't like about the nook, and that is b&n's restrictive, north korean closed society attitude toward outside apps. what a pity b&n chooses not to embrace the full android community. think of what might have been! i have no problem surfing the web, and it also works well and looks good watching video from netflix. my wife has a kindle fire and it is a pleasure to just go to the library site, choose a book, and have it load wirelessly without any fuss over external computers and wires. b&n-open your doors and join the rest of the word.

I'm someone who has never owned a tablet before or anything similar. I am used to hard copy books and not ebooks. In fact I dislike reading ebooks on computer having tried a few times. Regardless I purchased this Nook tablet for reading and found it to be enjoyable and have read and finished a few books though I only owned it for about a week. It's comfortable in your hand though you'll have to find the right balance for yourself. Also, it is easy to use since I'm bad with technology and has smooth and fast reactions, as well as easy to turn the page.Reading however was not my only objective, if it was the ereader would be great too and much cheaper but I wanted to use this as an organizer, entertainment, and just for mundane things. The Netflix, browsing, and games are great. The volume is a little low but putting on headphones solves the problem or a quiet area. Organizers are fine as long as you find the right app.The batteries however are lacking in my opinion since I use it to read or entertainment for long periods of time I have to charge the battery daily or at maximum in two days. I think I watched something on Netflix for about 20 minutes and drained almost 5% on my batteries or a little less than that. Another troublesome thing is that at times the browser or app I'm using force closes. Though it doesn't happen too often I get irritated easily. Also, the screen smudges very easily you would probably want to get a screen protector for that if nothing else.Conclusion.Great product without the apple price.Suggestions.Don't purchase the cover or anti-glare from Barnes and Noble store it's really expensive and Amazon is cheaper.

I received the newest Nook Tablet as a birthday gift. I wish they would have just given me the money so I could buy a iPad. If all you want to do is buy stuff from Barnes and Noble then maybe this is for you. If you are a serious Web surfer, forget this device. The browser constantly gets stuck when I try to get to my home page (which I tried to make other than the default Barnes and Noble Page). I cannot even get to the Google search page. It just churns and churns. There is no obvious way to close the browser and start again. You would think hitting home would close it, but no. Trying the Web again, bring you right back to the churning browser. ARRRAH!I have considerable experience using all types of technology and applications and know when something is truly intuitive and well developed. This product isn't. Spend the extra $150 and get yourself an iPad. I bought one for my wife for Christmas, which was 10 days after I received the Nook as a birthday present. She is technology challenged but has already spent days downloading free applications surfing the Web and what else while I just watch my Nook endlessly spin trying to complete a Web page. It did this for about eigtht hours, including through a recharging cycle. Eventually I hit something that asked if I wanted to force close the browser (I have no idea what). Well it closed hurray! It took about two seconds for me to reopen it and get stuck on my home page again. It may do other things, but I have already lost interest in this device.Don't aggravate yourself. "GET AN iPad!"

This is a dream to own and operate. Full color. High resolution. Web access. Email. Ordering and downloading is a breeze. It comes with Netflix. It is light weight. The screen is large. Between my smart phone and nook tablet I don't use my home computer. You can organize you downloads as you like. Highly recommended. Ordering and shipping was very easy and fast.

Item arrived on time. Screen displays books, apps, movies with clarity. The interactive e-books are great the children enjoy reading. I haven't tried the magazines yet. The color nook has a lot of nice features. I'm very happy I purchased the item.

I have the original Nook and I had to use a night light when I read at night. This one has a light to read by. I bought this Nook because the author Jude Devereaux does v-books and you have to have a Nook color or HD to buy the book.

I got my Nook Tablet about two weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. I barely use my laptop anymore. I use my laptop for word processing and storing documents but for surfing the web, checking emails and watching movies/tv, I prefer my Nook. I've hardly had time to use it for reading books. It does work great for reading, especially at night. I have also used the free trials on several magazines. The magazines look great.The apps are sufficient for me. There definitely isn't a huge selection compared to android smart phones but there are plenty for me and they seem to be increasing on a regular basis. I also wouldn't mind having a camera for scanning. I have found some quality games and activity apps for my kids and a several for me.The video playback with Netflix is great. The screen is excellent. I was really surprised to see how clear and crisp it is. It's also really easy to view the screen from an angle. So if someone else is holding the Nook it's still easily seen from the side.The kids books I've tried are a lot of fun. My kids love the interactive aspects and the ability to record and hear themselves reading (usually in a silly way).It's easy to navigate. My five-year-old son can already make his way to the apps and videos fairly well.I have no complaints yet. It has exceeded my expectations, especially considering the price.

I gave it to my daughter on Christmas, and even the the nook worked good, she did notice there was a nick out of the edge of it, and asked me if it was a used one.... which it wasn't.

Not as big as I would like, but functions and streams perfectly. I particularly enjoyed using it on a recent trip, easy to fit into my purse, and no trouble at all accessing wifi in airports.
