Didn't ever think a sound card would make such a difference, but even with a slightly budget headset, music is so much more crisp and loud, and gaming is so much more immersive. Such an upgrade over my garbage onboard audio on my Gigabyte Aorus M. You have to tweak some of the settings in the Xonar Audio Control app, but it's easy to use and in just a few clicks I had everything to my liking. Only sound card I've owned and I'd say it was definitely worth it.

I did get this to work somewhat. I wanted to use this for my 5.1 sound system but I had to do some research and jump through some hoops to get it to work. I finally got the rear speakers and sub to work but some tracks have missing parts. It's better than stereo but not by much.

For a while, I've been plagued by noisy computer audio; I could hear when my mouse moved across my screen. Even when I bought the acclaimed Modi 3 DAC from Schiit audio, it could only reduce the motherboard noise, but not eliminate it. This was due to the noisy USB power/ground making USB DACs ineffective.
However, the Xonar SE was able to nigh eliminate noise from my computer audio, especially when passed through my DAC through toslink. Even the analogue out was clean enough to use directly, and can provide enough juice to power full sized headphones.

Not really what I was expecting. I was hoping it would work as good as an onboard spdif optical but it doesn't. It has some weird glitchy signals so when you skip through a video or song, it will either tell my amp/receiver to go full blast on the volume or will cut out completely.

I'm impressed with the sound, and the features. But on boot, the default sound output is to headphones, not speakers. I've tried everything I can think of to changing this without any luck. So for best sound, on boot, I have to open the board's interface, and select "Speakers". I cannot get this to be the default.

Windows 10 64 bit user: I had no issue with the installation of the driver itself (SE model) but the sound was not working correctly. I got sound for maybe a split second (sometimes) and an odd click/ticking sound (sometimes). That's about it. I bought this only for the optical output. FYI, the Uni drivers don't support the SE model. I did see a lot of negative reviews here and now I see even more on other websites. Good luck to anyone that gives it a try but I don't want to spend more time troubleshooting.

In an electronically-noisy Dell Optiplex 9020 this delivers clean detailed and quiet sound, both on speakers and phones. Tried an outboard USB dongle but that was as noisy as the onboard Realtek. This works well, input A/D is good too (I record old tapes).
Recommended especially for the price.

Lost all sound when I switched from Windows 7 to 10. After struggling with my old Creative SoundBlaster card and having no luck, I decided to get the Asus Xonar and I am glad I did. It was not too expensive and works with Windows 10. The installation wasn't difficult; old card out, new card in, ran the installation disk and could finally hear sound.

Very pleased with the purchase. The integrated sound card with ASUS motherboard kept failing with WIN10 OS. Never had this problem again with a separate sound card.

The volume levels on this card are pathetic. At medium levels music and movies are barely distinguishable if there's any sort of ambient noise. And forget cranking up your favorite song. Might be tolerable with headphones, but headphone mode has noticably poorer sound quality (compressed frequency range).
But, it's more reliable than my onboard sound chip, which was great, when it worked.

Was very easy to install but the Manuel leaves out the meaning of a lot of the abbreviations. I was able to figure out the ones I needed. Very nice unit for the price as well true 24/192 audio and selectable resolution.

Bought this to replace a card whose driver was outdated and incompatible with Windows 10.Easy install; I am not a gamer; I use it for audio recordings with Adobe Audition. Solved my issues. Good card.

I can definitely feel the sound difference between this one and the on-board one, although it is a subjective evaluation. I use the front panel with headphones and I can also feel better stereo / surround audio with zero channel interference. The default output is also 24-bit, 192 kHz and it is amazing.
The card is generally unlisted on Linux setups; Will update the review once I boot with Linux. I will also try to get the Toslink working and tell you how it works.

Card is NOT compatible with the Lenovo M720t (Desktop) ThinkCentre - Type 10SQ.
No matter what configuration or driver used, card will not work after the first second of sound, returned.
Very hard to find a card that is truly compatible with this PC. :(

This card is the replacement for the DGX. Looks like the DGX isn't being manufactured anymore (or at least my guess). The SE is definitely on par with the DGX, offering a 300 ohm headphone amp to power your headphones in games + new software that functions the same. Just make sure to disable realtek in control panel by choosing "disable device". If you don't audio will cut in and out sometimes. If you are looking for anything more then a cheap headphone amp, then don't buy this card.

I got this to replace my two channel motherboard sound. It took a while to figure out how to get it to do 5.1 channels. This is in the software that was included on the CD that came with the card.

I've picked up the XONAR SE model. It sounds way better than in-built audio from my motherboard (Biostar B350GT3). It really amps up the power of my 7.1ch surround speakers. The only nitpicking here is that usually the software switches from headphones from speakers on some bootups in Windows 10, but you just need to open the program and change it back, not a huge deal. For the price i paid it is an overall a good deal

because it is not soundblaster / mb integrated sound, it's not always as friendly during boot up.. till windows load up. not found by default when booted into live linux usb..

The card works and appropriately connects front panel sound i/o. Integration with Windows 7 is poor with redundant controls and many incompatibilities. Sound is disabled due to software issues at least once a day. I am looking for a replacement now. I cannot recommend highly...

Constant stutters and audio lag. Attempted all troubleshooting solutions I could find online, nothing made any difference. Streaming audio, video, or playing games - the sound cuts out every two to three seconds, lags when it comes back on, and then stutters again.
Very disappointing as I've had numerous Asus products and have been very happy with them previously. I'm returning this item.

My PC lacked a S/PDIF output, and because of the noise issues I had with my Kanto Yu4 Speakers I decided to buy a soundcard. Installation is painless and quick. Sound is god and clean.

The software could do with some minor tweaking but otherwise it has some very nice features for audio tuning, and multiple profiles

Отличная модель
- + Работает, как пишут некоторые бывают дефекты, но там разбираться надо как вставляли, как дрова ставили, или как башкой дёргали с наушниками и не вырвали сами гнездо к примеру и тп.... . Просто по опыту ремонта электроники в 10 случаях сообщений о дефектах, в 8 случаях виноваты сами люди. Если не верите посмотрите как ваши знакомые эксплуатируют свои телефоны и станет все понятно. Я вас уверяю с остальными вещами все тоже самое.

Были 2 от Креативов, теперь Асус. Обычно использую ЦАП (сейчас FiiO btr7) для фильмов, музыки, игр. Звук хороший прям хороший для 5000 р.

Если вы купили приличные колонки и вас не устраивает звук со встроенной звуковухи на материнке - задумайтесь о приобретении отдельной звуковой карты. Разницу услышите сразу.
Звук 5.1 по оптике (S/PDIF) выводит, но исходный файл должен быть записан в соответствующем формате (DTS, DD), сама карта стереозвук не раскладывает по каналам. На фото - ресивер, подключенный по оптике к этой карте, показывает тип входящего сигнала (выводится аудиофайл m2ts через VLC-плеер).
