If you need or want an extra monitor for your laptop or pc, this is what you need to buy! No monitor cable, or power supply, just connect via a USB port!THe only drawback is that you should load the software before you connect it to get easier functionality.

Used it extensively on the road. Perfect for travel. Light-weight, easy setup and USB powered. Thinking the connecting cable I received with the unit is a bit faulty as it requires a bit of jiggling to get the screen to stop flickering.

I had very high hopes for this monitor. The image is dark and washed out. I used a USB Y-splitter to double the current and that improved the image but not enough to make it satisfying. The plastic bezel felt cheap and the backing was unnecessary; it prevented the monitor from laying on it's back/on a desk. I promptly returned.

I have gotten used to having two screens. It was easy to install, Windows 7 recognized it with no problems.I would like it better if the usb connection was in a better place on the device and it was a flatter.

I bought the 21" screen as a third monitor since my laptop has only one VGA out. Haven't tried gaming or video on it yet but it works great for multiple spreadsheets and data entry.

This item has an amazing price. It is worth so much more than I paid. It was very easy to set-up. When I opened the box, I was surprised at how light this monitor is. The screen is so clear. It is like my gaming monitor that I spend tons of money on! This is going to make things so much easier!

It fits in my laptop bag, so I carry it around everywhere. It's really light and almost brittle feeling, but durable.I usually keep it in portrait mode with Firefox running. The dimensions are weird (it's really long and skinny), but most web content wraps fine.The setup program was a little b-budget, and it seemed to take a while, but it worked without any issues. (Win 7)

It is a good, lightweight 2nd monitor. The one issues I have had is that the USB connection to my HP laptop is pretty sensitive. If I touch the USB port at all, the AOC monitor will flicker.

I grabbed this screen honestly because of the price. I'm a network engineer and write a lot of documentation when I'm out on jobs, or at the hotel. I had been traveling with my 24 inch monitor and it was just heavy and a pain to set up and tear down. I found that this serves best in portrait mode.The only con that I have found with it, is the electrical hum, that you eventually stop noticing.

I do all of my work on a laptop. I also travel between two offices. It's not practical to have an external display in both places, but I desperately needed a second screen.The AOC E1649FWU turned out to be the perfect solution.This monitor fits smartly into a 16" laptop sleeve, along with the single power/video cord. The cased display fits in the same compartment of my rolling laptop bag as my computer and cooling pad. The drivers are installed easily, the cable is a standard USB and even if you have an older laptop that only supports USB 1.1, there's a power side cord that plugs into a second USB.

I am a recruiter and I don't always get a power cord when I go to university career fairs. This monitor is perfect for these types of situations because it can be powered from a laptop battery for 2-3 hours.

I bought one, it's a great little second monitor when you don't have a lot of space for a permanent full size monitor. The LED's put out a lot of light and videos look great on it. I use it for a dual purposes. 1. While I am repairing other PC's that are connected to my KVM switch, I use my main monitor to switch between the PC's while watching videos or reading emails or news from the AOC as a extended monitor from my main PC. 2. I also use the AOC in my sound recording booth in mirrored mode to monitor the action on screen while recording vocals in the booth, I also use a USB mouse and keyboard attached through USB extension cables to the main PC.The AOC LED monitor generates a frequency hum that can be heard in the sound booth and is picked up by the microphone, I am working on ways to filter that out of the mix if I can.I wish the USB connector on the back of the monitor was in a different place so I could close the monitor stand or if I could remove the monitor stand altogether that would work for me.All in all the AOC USB monitor looks good, it is very light weight and it is easy to store away, and for the price I'm happy with it, I'd give it a 4.5

Purchased the monitor to use it as a third monitor and it works wonderfully. If you are looking to add a second or third monitor to your office, this is a great way to do it. The fact you can not adjust the brightness does not really effect me negatively as I work in a well lit office. For those working out of dimly lit hotel rooms, this may be a more serious issue. I was surprised that there was no digital lag or photo quality issues with this monitor.For traveling purposes, the monitor does have some drawbacks. It would be great if it came with a case or protective sleeve since it feels like it is going to get scratched or damaged whenever I have it in my laptop bag. Also - the USB input is located in very strange location which can be a bit difficult to reach with "sausage fingers". It is relatively thick (think 3 iPads or so) but very light.Overall conclusion: For the price, can't beat the size and quality of this as a second or third monitor. Decent to travel with but would recommend buying a case so that you can have some protection.

The video display on my 5 year old MacBook Pro started acting up and I couldn't afford to replace it. This USB external display was just the thing! I downloaded and installed the driver before it even arrived, so when I plugged it in I was up and running in seconds and this was my first experience with using multiple monitors.Clean, sharp picture and a monitor that can be configured for either portrait or landscape viewing. It's a super deal!A couple of downsides I've discovered over the past several days is that the driver for Mac (which has to be downloaded from the web) doesn't permit monitor brightness or contrast to be adjusted. It is what it is, and that's it. The screen is pretty bright and that brightness is very deceptive if you're doing photo editing. For that reason I've downgraded my review from 5 stars to 4 stars.I've been using this monitor for several months now and still feel the 4 star review is appropriate. It's light weight, easy to position and bright. The downsides I've found relate to photo and video usage. As mentioned before, screen brightness can't be adjusted. Nor can the screen be calibrated for photoediting. That's at least a minor problem if you do a lot of photoediting where color correction is essential. The other thing I noticed when editing is that a change of viewing angle of only a few degrees can make a big difference in how your image looks in terms of relative brightness.So, I highly recommend this monitor for day to day use, but not for serious photo/video editing. And even watching videos, you have to get the angle just right.Still, for the price, it's a great little monitor.

I wanted a third monitor for my dual monitor mac pro, and thought this supposedly plug and play monitor would be a good quick and easy solution. Simply put, it didn't work. The OS was confused and kept flashing the screens to blue. There is no driver to configure the screen. It was a dead end, nothing could be done to get it working.So, I thought I'd try it on my macbook. My macbook is no slouch: 2.5ghz quad core i7 with 16gigs of ram. This monitor brought my machine to its knees just displaying one browser window. Watching the activity monitor, the CPUs were almost maxed out, again, just displaying a web page. There was lag, the cursor didn't track smoothly, and the monitor had redraw issues when moving the browser page around. I promptly repackaged this piece of junk and sent it back to amazon the same day I got it, thankfully amazon graciously refunded me for it immediately.

I had this item on my wish list and received as a gift. I followed the instructions to the letter and the monitor would not power up. The design is poor. As stated in other reviews the usb plug is on the back of the display where the kickstand recesses. You must unplug the usb cable anytime you wish to pack up the monitor. It took well over 30 minutes just to install the software and driver for the monitor. This is too slow. Once this was completed I could not get the menu to open when using the windows + P combination. I was disappointed that I would not be able to use this additional screen as would would come in handy on my 7" Netbook. If Amazon would allow an option of no stars that is what I would have chosen.

I bought this monitor, excited that all I had to do was plug it in via USB and I'd have an external monitor on which I could put notes up and work from several documents with ease. Unfortunately, for me, this monitor wouldn't work, no matter what I did.The company website says that the product is compatible with macs as well as PCs, so I went ahead and got it. Upon arrival, I put the CD in to install the driver but found it wouldn't work. I called tech support who said he'd email me a link. I think he got my email address wrong because the link never came through. So I went searching online for the driver I needed. I found it, downloaded it, installed, and tried to use the monitor. No luck. I called tech support again. Apparently I downloaded the wrong version of the driver, so I uninstalled the wrong version, installed the older version, and tried again. Still no luck. I called tech support, and this time my support rep went to talk to an engineer. The engineer didn't have any idea as to what was wrong and why it wasn't working. I'm bummed that this display isn't working - at $140 (including shipping) there really shouldn't be any problems.I would be weary of purchasing this - maybe wait until it has been out longer and there are more reviews. I was really looking forward to this monitor. I REALLY hope the seller will accept the return and let me have my money back. Also, packaging wasn't fantastic...the seller suck a mailing label on the box itself, didn't put it in another box with bubble wrap or anything to keep it from getting too jostled around.This product had potential to be great, for me, it was a dud.

This solid and well built, but I guess I didn't understand that the monitors software had to be loaded on the machine to work. I was going to take it places and use it to trouble shoot other computers, built when you turn the ailing computer on, you have no monitor for you to see how to load any software...If you are going to use it with a laptop, or as a 2nd monitor, it will be fine.

I use it with a 17" Mac Book Pro. Out of the box , just needs a driver install (available for Mac and Windows) and you are all ready to go. Very useful for mobile coders like me who use the Mac for 100% of their coding and deployments. The resolution could have been higher but thats not a show stopper at all. Amazon as usual delivers fastest !

I noticed a high freqency humming sounds after installation and tried many updates and configureations including other PCs. No matter what I did the humming sound continued. I finally contacted AOC and was told that sound was "normal". Now if I can just get Triplenet to refund my money since it was returned (confirmation from USPS).

This little guy is an amazing buy. I have to concur that this monitor is NOT designed to take a beating, IS thicker than some laptops (which I knew before I purchased it, as I read the Specs page, though is NOT thicker than my brand-new Lenovo), does seem a bit hollow for the weight, and the micro-USB connector is in an odd place, but these things are the only reason that I didn't rate this thing with 5 Stars.After having wasted money on Air Display and XDisplay, the $99-->$129 that this thing costs is a No-Brainer, especially as there are no better alternatives (at least in my research; please correct me if I am mistaken).

The monitor worked just fine wasn't slow connected with one usb port. I didn't like that the cord had to be plugged into the back where the stand goes. So in order to store it you have to unplug it. I also didn't like how bulky it was, nearly 2 inches in depth. I didn't have space for that in my laptop bag. I returned the monitor, but its capabilities seemed fine, just a little inconvenient.

I am perfectly happy with this monitor for the price. I take it with me to the library all the time. It really should have come with some kind of case, but since it didn't I bought this: 'Domke 722-19U F-34 19-Inch Protective Wrap (Blue)' which just barely fits around the monitor, and works very well for me. I wasn't happy with a laptop case because as far as I know, there isn't a laptop case that is just this size. I thought about making my own case, but you know, time.

I received this monitor in December 2012. As shipped, it emitted a high pitch noise whenever plugged into a computer. AOC's support staff (phone: 888-662-9888) promptly answered my call and emailed me a firmware update which solved the problem.

I travel every week for work as a management consultant. A large part of my work requires switching between Excel, PowerPoint, Word, ect.. This monitor is exactly what I've been missing and is a great buy for anyone who enjoys working off a second monitor. The screen resolution is absolutely good enough for being powered by just a USB. In addition, it's incredibly light weight; I put this in my luggage back and don't even notice it's there. Finally, at only $100, the price just can't be beat.

As a very discriminating technology user and buyer, I can't believe anyone would give this less than 5 stars. It is a large, portable LED display that requires only a USB connection for power and video. It works perfectly for me, and only requires a single USB plug, while it comes with 2. I've used this with three of my laptops, none of them has required both USB plugs. The resolution, brightness and clarity are great. I was looking at smaller 14" displays for about twice the cost of this one. I jumped at this when I saw it for under $100.Due to the size, which is a huge positive, it is also not the most portable. However, it does fit into my briefcase/laptop bag if I need it. Also, it has a glossy black frame and housing, which is a fingerprint magnet. It is also extremely light, which may have a flimsy feel. But the stand, which rotates for landscape or portrait mode, is very solid. So overall, the light weight is a plus. Some have complained about the mini-USB plug location. Yes, it could have been a better design. But it's the least of my worries.So as much as I would deduct a star for some of the negatives, I just can't. It is exactly what I was looking for, for under $100. Awesome.

I've never been so happy using a multi-monitor setup. I mostly use a laptop and tracking between the laptop and desktop monitors was always a pain because of height differences and when I raised the laptop, then had to push it far enough away to fit another keyboard. Not so with this thing. It sits at the same level and easily adjusts to the same level of tilt as my laptop screen.WARNING: For Macs, make sure you install the driver version 1.8 or newer if available. Version 1.7 will really mess you up if you try to use the rotation. Unfortunately, at this time, the driver download on the AOC website is 1.7. I downloaded my driver from who I guess writes them, DisplayLink.com

This is a great little monitor that hooks up to your USB port. Works great. Problem is...it's not a good choice for the road warrior. It's very lightweight and seems a bit fragile, but even in a neoprene protective sleeve and a laptop bag, it somehow ended up broken. Of course, this happened while I was outside the US, a week into a trip, and without any chance of being addressed for weeks. Of course, the warranty expired 2 days ago so.... :)I've also found that this unit sucks the power down. When it is plugged into a laptop, the battery drains a LOT quicker and other USB devices that rely on the port for power will not work. For example, I had it running and plugged in a small hard drive (laptop drive in a external bay); there wasn't enough power left on the bus to power the external drive.PROS:- Lightweight- Great for occasional, light traveling- Bright, crisp display- USB powered device is very convenientCONS:- A bit fragile- Not suitable for heavy travelers/road warriors- Power consumption is heavySo, if you're a light traveler or just need something to take back and forth to/from the office or presentations on occasion then this will serve you well. If you are a heavy traveler, then you'll probably find this unit too fragile.

This is a fantastic screen for office applications, and basic youtube videos. It is not a HD monitor nor would you want to do photoshop on it. I use it constantly. It just works. I first tried having an android tablet, then an ipad, then I tried software that allowed me to go between my computer and a tablet. The tablets are just stupid, with all their custom software you can't easily access pdf's as you can on computers. You can't interact with them as easily with a computer. The screens are tiny by comparison. The software I used was slow and buggy. In the end if you always work on your laptop and need some extra screen real estate that you can easily take with you this is great and cheap.Pros-Light,portable,Swivels easily between orientations,Only needs 1 USBForm factor is perfect for document readingCons- This isn't related to the screen I feel, but you should get a cover for it. Maybe a 17 in. sleeve would work.- The software sometimes takes 5 to 10 seconds to work after it plugs into your laptop. But once it initializes it works fine.- You can't control the brightness, but not a big deal to me.

That was an immediate return decision:1. One of the rubber support bands for vertical mode broke right after I took it out of the box.2. The auto pivot function DOES NOT WORK. I use a macbook air and there is no where or no way to get to the settings of that thing to enable or check features and options for the monitor as the manual states. Looks like they only support windows.3. The USB cable is short.4. The USB cable plugs into the worst possible place (in the groove of the stand when you pop it out). This means that there is no way to get this display to work with the stand closed. I initially planned to have the display resting on a music stand to use in my home music studio to control my DAW while playing without the need to have a laptop in front of me. But, because of a VERY STUPID design decision, that is impossible.5. Overall it is cheaply made and the manual is full of warning of the sort of "if you smell something weird turn off immediately" and "Do not touch it here or there or you will damage it".Very disappointing product although the idea is good.
